Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Outstanding Resort

Everything was just great, the food, the services, the room with view, the cleanness, the transportation and all resort lobby. But also the fact we had access to all sub-resort sections it was great as well. Also a special thanks to our waiters at the main Akumal buffet, Luis, Neyfi and Fabian! There were just great and provided an A1 services!

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Fantasia

Hotel and amenities were clean and accessible. Lots to do. Food was good but service at buffet could have been much better but overall 4.5 star for sure! My children are 13 and 10. Water slides were not for them .. too old and too big but there was enough to do to keep them happy.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Nice resort

The resort was very large but was well layed out. The food was fantastic. The rooms were cleaned daily but they did not do good cleaning of the floors. The pool was very dirty. The guy serving at the pool bar was fantastic and he should have had some help. The beach was terrible .... you could not use it for swimming due to the seaweed. They tried to clean it up but there was just too much. But having said all that, if is a nice resort and we enjoyed our vacation.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Started well, Ended bad

Rooms- free upgrade to building 1 right next to pool, very nice but bed bugs.. Food- great Entertainment - lacking Flight home - horrible, over head leaked the entire way on my back and no one did anything about it.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Amazing trip!

We spent the most incredible week at the Grand Bahia Principe Aquamarine. Everything from the resort, services, beach, pool along with the most professional and friendly staff made our experience beyond outstanding. We will forever hold a special place in our hearts for the Aquamarine and our memories in Punta Cana will us last a lifetime!

I have been to this resort 4 years ago, and I will say it is well maintained. We had a few hurdles when we arrived. We were given a room that had a leaky ceiling in the bathroom. We called a few people in the reception and it took so long before someone came to fix it. Unfortunately, the problem was not fixed properly due to the leaky pipe. We had to go to reception and ask them to switch our room. The facilities are in good condition. Don’t hesitate to reach out to them. I recommend taking advantage of the a la carte. Overall, we had a great experience at this resort and would definitely go back.

THis was the best 5* we have ever enjoyed! The grounds, lobby, bars, buffets, and a la cartes were luxurious and plentiful. The pools were huge and how could you ever go wrong with Bavaro beach...one can walk forever!! Our 2 buffets had huge selections of delicious foods...as good as the a la cartes..only more variety! The staff were hand-picked to make this a fantastic holiday for their guest tourists. Positive: Amazing service Animation around the pool and at night Huge resort so there's always something to do. The first impression was bad, and they never really recovered. The visual appearance of the property is beautiful, however the service is poor and at times non-existent. The language barrier is very prevalent and at times caused us to receive nothing while asking for something or to be given the wrong service(s). I would expect there to be service people working the general areas that people congregate. I thought tipping would help us to receive better service, but that turned out to not be the case. The smoking is unbearable. it is constant and it is everywhere. There were cigarette butts on the pool deck, all over the grounds and worst of all everywhere on the beach. The beach was really just a giant sand ash try. My youngest daughter was going to dig in the sand, but it was nothing but butts under an inch of sand, everywhere. gross. Lastly, the vendors that come around and pressure you to buy this, or buy that. I get it, they are trying to make a living, but I paid good money to relax (or try to), and to be asked 20-30 times a day if I want to go on an excursion or buy some jewelry etc... is a bit much. Not to mention, in the market place the vendors are so aggressive my daughters were afraid to go there to look for souvenirs'.

The grounds and public areas were spotless and beautiful. Always someone working on the grounds. Unfortunately, the beach was not very nice due to the seaweed problem, which they worked on daily but there is just too much of it. The pools were great and clean. The only problem is not with the hotel but with selfish vacationers who think that they own the lounge chairs and spots for their whole vacation time. I believe the hotel should try and control this by not allowing people to put their towels out and disappear for hours on end. I was told that if I saw this happening all I have to do is go to the Reception and have someone remove the towels. That is ridiculous, there is no way I am running to the reception every day! They should have someone monitoring the pool areas and removing the towels. Instead of paying a Butler, that people don't really need, they should simply pay someone to take care of the reserving of seats! Food was great, restaurants were good, but they should have more choices at the restaurants. People working at the restaurants/bars, work very hard and do a great job of ensuring you have all that you need. Cleaning staff do a wonderful job and all in all no complaints, had a wonderful time at this resort!

Like i said the resort was beautiful but thats where it ends.service depending what part of the resort you were at was touch and go.the outside of pool area surrounding the pool is like ice when its wet.both my children fell several times and not from running my mother ended up in the hospital from slipping after getting out of the pool several other people i watched fall.food was alright and selection is very small drinks not good at all.i have been to about 15 or more resorts and alot of them  [... read more]are bahia and i have noticed the chain is slowly going down hill.but it was a beautiful resort.nobody checked to see if my mother was fine or anything after having to be in a wheelchair for 4 days of her vacation.we have 2 children and it was always a chore to get them to restock the fridge in the rooms for them to drink.i wouldnt recomend this resort to anyone.

The staff at this resort are awesome, very friendly and helpful. Resort well layed out. Room are nice the view is spectacular. The food is good. Only draw back are the steps, you can not go from one area to another without doing steps. Especially getting to the beach. But I would return

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great resort for family vacation

We travelled with 2 kids (3 and infant). The room was clean and the food was top notch (especially the a la carte restaurants!) We tried the buffet and one restaurant in Coba, and those were not comparable. The only minor issue we had was with the wifi, it was difficult to connect and sometimes it doesn't work properly (so that doesn't work well to reserve the restaurants through their app). The pools and the kids waterpark at Coba (5 mins on the trolley) are great. Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Decent place for getaway

In general our week of vacation has been spent well: direct flight from Toronto to small quiet Samana airport with quick passport control and Customs formalities, rather short transfer from airport to resort, prompt check-in (because we knew the rules from previous visit and broke away from the group from the bus, otherwise we would waste the time), food and drinks all day long and remarkable beaches not only within resort limits but specially outside of them. But a few remarks should be addressed to resort management for further improvements. Room cleaning should be better organized with less hassles to the guests. On the first day of stay we came back to the room around 4pm and our room was not attended yet. We simply asked the maid for the fresh towels. On the second day our room was not cleaned at 4.30pm and I had to talk to the administrator at the front desk to expedite the procedure. We could not apprehend the schedule for room cleaning but certainly the guests should not adapt their time to the cleaning operations. The second issue is the room entry door. We could not open it to the full opening because it ground against the floor but we did not make a big deal of that. The big deal was the lock - we could not get into the room three times and had to wait for security guy to open the lock and then for service guy to fix it. On the third time we simply demanded to change the room and had the nice room for one night. But as I mentioned in preamble a few nuisances did not spoil our vacation and we will definitely come back again soon.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Great trip!

Had a great time at the Bahia Principe Punta Cana May 2019. The weather, beaches and pools were great. Very little to no seaweed along the stretch of beach. Ample availability of chairs and umbrellas at the beach and pools. Staff were very friendly. Rooms were clean and well appointed. The resort is well maintained. The landscaping is really beautiful. Very efficient shuttle service running non-stop throughout the resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: second time just as great !

We travelled to GBP Jamaica Aug 2018 & May 12-19 2019 . For us this resort offers everything we want. Beach is amazing the farthest beach is the one we prefer, much more shade and breeze , not as crowded. We love the food here. The A la carte's are fantastic. Have not tried Italian could not get in either time, Buffet always has many options. The staff at this resort are always friendly helpful and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. We made coffee in room every morning , sat on balcony. . We enjoyed the morning buffet at the steakhouse. It was right outside of building , perfect. . You can have lunch at Piscis beach grill. But prefer the air conditoned main buffet , where there are more choices and it's nice to get out of the heat. Our maid was fantastic. Vanessa at main lobby was such a great help and got us in our room sooner than expected.

The hotel was nice but the food at the buffets was a bit repetitive and generally overcooked and dried out. We arrived at 12 noon and were told our room would be ready at 3 but it was close to 5pm and they did not seem to be very sorry or try to make up for the inconvenience. The staff were either very nice and welcoming or were the total opposite and very unresponsive and cold. We were desperate for a shower after a full day at the beach. We are not fans of cold showers and that started the night off to a not so pleasant mood. The evening entertainment was very amateurish. I felt at times like I was at a high school talent show. Our trip was not a total disappointment as the weather was great and the beach was amazing but I do think the hotel needs to address some of these issues that we encountered, especially with the staff. At times I felt like I was really interrupting them and they did not look like they cared at all. No smiles or thank you, even when yo tipped them. It seemed like they felt entitled to the tip, not that they needed to give any special service or be polite and maybe smile, just entitled to it. In Canada I feel we treat customers better and most service people do not even get tips here, unless they really provide great service. A smile and some compassion goes a long way!
