Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great Resort

We have stayed at many resorts all over the Caribbean and Mexico and I have to say this is surely one of the nicest and best places we've stayed. It's great for families. The food was very good with lots of varieties for everyone. The grounds were fantastic and kept clean as well as the pools. One thing about the pools is that they are deep for kids that can't swim. Lots of shade to escape the heat. Beach was nice and clean, great for long walks. The only thing that I would say negative about  [... read more]this resort is the location. We like to walk off the resort and have things to do. The resort is somewhat secluded or a longer walk than I would want but that's just us. Overall I would stay there again and would highly recommend it to anyone!

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Feels like home

Been there many times got to know everyone from General manager to the gardener. Got to see many of there family’s and the way they live and respect them very much. What makes a hotel a vacation is not just the beach sun and sand it’s what you learn .

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Recent vacation to Cofressi Resort

Nice resort but a bit disappointed based on how it appears on the website. Catered more to the VIP status guests. Entertainment was a big disappointment. There was a beautifully stage on the side we stayed at yet all entertainment was on the opposite side to were we were with seating on rows of gym mats and open to the elements. Food was ok but nothing to write home about. Staff was excellent and very helpful.

Riu Merengue: Worse than it seems

We read the reviews and we thought it will be ok, but it wasn't. How could it have 5, 4 stars ? really? Here is what we experienced: Service: 1 star: they assigned us to a room with broken toilet!!! then they didn't try to fix it until evening, because I said : Where will I pee at night if need it? BTW, they didn't fix it, they moved us to another room. Food: 1 star. People, who left 5,4,3 stars reviews, you really need to visit other hotels, even for the same price. I believe nothing will [... read more] be worse than this one. They have 2 buffets with exactly the same food in both. Very limited variety, I mean it: beef - one type and not everyday, pork- one type of a meal and not everyday, chicken - one type and every day, fish - one type and every day. We had lamb one day. That's it for animal protein. Vegetables: White potatoes, carrots, rice, - 2 different meals of those repeating every day, like fried potatoes/white rice/cooked carrots - every day, every day. other veggies only: eggplants, zuccinis, once we had asparagus, spinach (not every day) and no other vegetables. Fruits were : melon, watermelon, papaia and passion fruit - and nothing else. Desert was: 2 types of cookies and about 4 types of other deserts. all the food was very much the same every day. sorry, forgot about the soups: 1 or 2 soups per day, that soup will be served until we finish it, like all the other meals. For example, nobody liked minestrone, so we had it for 4 days. Still reading? will give you more now. Restaurants: 1 star: who said there are restaurants? what they do is that they convert the snack-bar to two restaurants by dividing it in the middle in the evening, so one side becomes Italian restaurant and another one is a Steak house. How ... it is? Food there is no good. Also, milk served is only the one made from the powder. I will give you a hint: if you want a real milk go to a bar and ask for a COLD milk, it will be real. Beach: 3 stars- would be the best place of that resort , but...I forgot to say it's a smokers resort - most of the people there smoke, therefore sand is full of cigarettes, not cool. Lot's of shade on the beach because of all the palm trees. The area of shallow waters is quite large and water is warm. Room: 2 stars- shabby, no shampoos, no conditioner (just for me when I didn't bring), one universal liquid soap. One day we didn't have hot water. Tours: do not believe anyone. We went to Paradise Island to snorkel, our tour agent said it's 45 min drive, the hotel said it's 15 min drive, when it was 1.5 hours drive. If I knew I would choose another tour. If I knew I would choose another resort.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Amazing

The resort was clean, people were friendly and the food was great. The beach could be seen from your room and so can the pool, not much of a walk to anything. Beach was clean, water was clear and warm. The pool was huge and there were afternoon activities put on by the staff. At night there is a variety show also put on by the staff. Very talented people. Food was great there is a snack bar by the beach and a full buffet just a stone throw away that is open for breakfast, lunch and supper.  [... read more] There are also 3 restaurants (A la Cart) on the resort which you had to make reservations for, these were well worth the wait. I would definitely recommend it.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Awesome resort - right on the ocean!

The hotel is extremely clean and well maintained - close to airport. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Our room was small, but don't spend much time there, so perfect. Not much gluten free food, however lots of rice. Salads were delicious with lots of variety. The buffet offered some amazing food for every taste bud. Bread and desserts made fresh daily. Great pizza bar. The only recommendation would be to list the ingredients on some dishes as dairy is a problem for me. Wifi is expe [... read more]nsive! There is a great shopping centre across the street with pharmacy, liquor store, souvenirs, etc.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Very relaxing

This was my first all inclusive experience. I found everything to be great. Rooms were very nice and clean. AC worked fantastic. Our frige was stocked daily and room cleaned. Im a picky eater and i found the food good. I did stick to pizza and sandwiches as other things didn't agree with me. Not a huge bar but was expected as its not a large place. All staff were amazing. My boyfriend and i went there to relax and enoy the sun. And we did exactly that. Only complaint was how people hold chairs with towels at early hours. A sign is up but people ignor this. I don't feel like the staff can do much about this. Its just nasty people!

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Our Home away From Home

My wife and I have just returned from our absolute favourite vacation resort. We were only home for nine days between the last two visits and are looking forward to returning again soon. Riu Merengue: This is not the resort you were looking for!

The rooms are smaller than most resorts I've been to. Arranged in villas. Eastern part of the resort is unused apart from villas. Example eastern reception area staffed with one person who can't do much but direct you to the main reception. East Theatre never used. Several pool tables are on site but only one is in serviceable condition. The other two are in extremely poor condition.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: very comfortable and convinent to sousa

clean grounds and beaches. all pools and jacuzies clean. food was ok always found something.room was ok slept well on kingsize bed. no 24 booze or food but we made out ok.could grab quick things for rm. if yamissed off time or just go out the main lobby as close to resterants.would return with the same price or less.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Nice place

It was a great hotel great food and very nice staff anything u wanted u got r room was freshly painted very clean but the last couple of days we noticed mold growling on the cealing and walls and on the in side of the kertins and we noticed it on are luggage and our winter coat that we're in the closet but other than that it was great thx tim

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Very nice location, not very good service

Negatives: Upon arrival of a delayed flight to the hotel we were very disappointed that there were only 2 people there to check over 80 guests into the hotel. It took over 3 hours to get checked in giving us our room finally at 2:30 am. When waking up in the morning we realized we were never given our bracelets and had to again wait for a while at the front desk to recieved those before being able to enter back into the resort. Other occasions trying to book dinner reservations were nearly impos [... read more]sible as internet did not work or we would have to go back to the lobby in hopes to book there (basically you wanted to avoid the front desk at all cost because you were wasting easily 30 minutes every time you had to deal with them). You have to pay for umbrellas when you are at the beach and the water can get dangerously rough at a moment's notice. Our original room had a broken shower head and the balcony opened to a cement wall. We were however, moved once the weekend was over and more rooms became available. Do not expect towels until 5pm or on the day of your check out/courtesy room as they are not available. Positives: The food was delicious always offering a wide variety at the newly renovated buffet (cannot comment on a la cartes as we were unable to book). The grounds were very well maintained and very picturesque with the coral by the ocean. The bars were all central to the beach and over looked the ocean. Nightly entertainment shows were very good and activities staff were very inviting and enthusiastic.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: It was ok

The hotel was decent, the staff was friendly and accommodating, my dad and brothers room had mold in it, we didn't notice right away but as the week went on it became more noticeable, i am sure they would have changed their room if we had of brought it to their attention. I paid for an Ocean view but never got one, did't get the king size bed I requested either. They needed more night life other than the disco that was full of locals.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Awesome Resort!

We spent a week at Sunscape Puerto Plata. Loved the beautifully maintained grounds, the size of the resort, the staff.... Food was terrific, we tried all the a la cartes...pizza is awesome here, yum. The beach is beautiful, water nice & clear - no rocks and always someone cleaning/raking the beach....great for walking too. Pool great, loved the water temperature. Always a lounger to be found at beach and pool both. Everything was nice & easy, no hassles with anything at all, checking in  [... read more]& out, transfers to airport, scheduling excursions....no issues whatsoever. We would (and will!) definitely return to this resort...

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Get away

Had a great time!! The hotel property was large with a lot of things to do. Food was great and room was nice. Air conditioning did not work well so it was really hot in the room. I would recommend this hotel

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: the best resort ever

The resort was amazing. There was always activities to participate in and the staff were friendly and super nice. The food was amazing and there was always a lot of variety. This is one of my fav resorts to go to!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Iberostar is the Best!!!

This resort is a bang for your buck. Manuel,my friend at the resort lobby is amazing! The food is by far the best. And ala carts are quite the experience. I thank you Gina from trip central, I will see you soon when I go to Cuba xo

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great Resort Sunscape Puerto plata

Room was beautiful, resort clean, pool excellent, beach wonderful, could have more activity at pool during the day. Most of the stuff was at the beach. Had a 3 hr.delay at the airport before leaving hydrolic leak. Good job they found it on the ground!!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: FABULOUS Resort

Cofreshi Palm Spring Resort and Spa is a beautiful resort! Lots of pools, beach is great for walking, food is incredible, and our room was immaculent! Service was top notch; very friendly & accommodating. Lots of walking at the resort as it is huge and hilly.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Lots of pools, great staff!

This resort is massive and tons of stairs. Standard rooms are small with King beds however, if you upgrade to the junior suites they are beautiful and huge, highly recommended to book the junior suites!! You pay $20. U.S. Currency a week for the safe on your room which you open with a key. If you want beer in your room or any kind of liquor you must purchase at the lobby store. Water is well stocked in your rooms. Rooms are very clean, beds comfortable. Nice balcony and chairs for every roo [... read more]m. Beach is not long, ocean waters are calm due to a break reef in front of the beach which is nice. Cabanas and lounge chairs everywhere however no huts or loungers on the beach due to the tides come in high. Dining is much better at The Tropical side of the resort. Cassablanca buffet there is much better than The Pearl on the Cofresi side. Staff friendly everywhere and very safe due to security constantly walking the grounds and pool areas. If you are a person who has a hard time walking or in a wheelchair you may want to avoid this resort due to the narrow stairways everywhere and it's built on a hill very steep. However, the weather is beautiful and sunny. I would rate it a three and a half star.
