Didn't enjoy the excursions but we thought the resort was beautiful. Everything was clean and well kept. The scenery around the resort was amazing and beaches were beautiful. The staff were all very friendly and helpful!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Not the best resort...
There are very few activities to do at night and the club isn't in the resort and isn't free. There are too much mosquitos at the resort that will give you many bites. The food is not very tasty, especially at the a-la-carte restaurants. The snack bar doesn't have a lot of choices. The best part of the resort is the beautiful beach they have, which also has part of a coral reef/fish there. Overall, this resort is not the best.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great vacation
Memories Flamenco had great service, beautiful grounds/gardens, amazing weather, nice pool (very clean and extremely well-maintained) and really good food given the limits that are the reality in Cuba. Great buffet with healthy options and a wonderful a la carte staff.
The rooms were clean - a few minor issues (small crack in tile) but nothing serious. Yes, the beds are a little hard, but they upgraded the pillows this year and that made a difference as well.
The upgrade in widening the [... read more]beach was a wonderful surprise compared to last year. It is an absolutely beautiful beach in any case. Never a shortage of space or loungers.
Some areas to improve would be in the gym (i.e. a treadmill broke, there are often no glasses to drink water from - they get used up quickly, no toilet paper in bathrooms, etc. - or bathrooms are sometimes left un-cleaned) it's a real inconvenience for customers. If equipment breaks - which can happen to any company - it's important to acknowledge it and put a sign on it to advise that it's being taken care of. One day there was significant rain and water all over the floor through a leak in the wall. Staff was there in the gym but they're often working out and it doesn't seem to be their job to clean it up. It was definitely a slip hazard for guests.
The other area would be maintenance of bathrooms. In general, the cleaning staff is working quite hard to constantly clean the bathrooms throughout the resort - so that's not the problem. The problem is that in many cases the stall doors won't lock, several sinks won't work, there are no towels/or working hand dryers, the toilet paper holder may be falling off the wall (or missing altogether) - issues like that. Canadians really care about bathrooms with all the basics: cleanliness - which is already good, but also always having toilet paper, a locking door and clean and dry hands. Many of the public area bathrooms did not have these things due to broken equipment. It's enough to pull down the star rating of the hotel over time. Which is really too bad as the hotel is otherwise fabulous!
If these minor things are addressed I'm sure Memories Flamenco will resume their 4.5-5 star status on trip advisor in no time!
The entertainment was excellent as well. Drinks are great. Overall a great experience and we'd definitely go again (was our second trip and this time it was for two weeks).

Memories Paraiso: Memories Paraiso Resort, Cayo Santa Maria, CUBA
Just returned from this resort. Memories paraiso and Azul doesn't exist - Resort was divided into 3 sections, the low end is called 'Memories Paraiso Resort' (only).
RESORT - Grounds/lobby/buffet area is clean - bungalows need minor repairs, rooms were clean, however, bathrooms need to be renovated and oval toilets installed (room and public washrooms had square toilets with oval seats)
FOOD - not much of a selection, very similar choices lunch/dinner every, however, they did have freshly gri[... read more]lled fish, chicken and beef every day. Morning breakfast was good, omelets/eggs every morning. Tried the Mexican a-la-carte, very tasty except the tortilla was actually a crepe.
- Pool grill - not worth going to
ENTERTAINMENT - was poor, they didn't advertise is well, 2 nights was guest participation, 1 night there was nothing because the entertainment was at a market on the other side of the resort which they never advertised - poor entertainment was never advertised, we just happened to show up around 4pm and there was something, 3 days there was nothing and I never experienced the foam party, they showed a picture on their enterainment board but it never happened.
Some servers were friendly and worked for their tip but most never smiled and only came around once - I tipped at the end not at the beginning. BARs - guys never smiled, they all seemed to hate their jobs or something or perhaps I needed to flirt and show them some pesos.
BEACH - was nice, cabanas/beach walkway need serious repair. Water was fabulous.
I had a good time, my kids and I made the best of it - but I won't be returning to this place, not worth the money, shouldn't cost no more then $900/person(high season) - I would rate this resort a 3.5*.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Just ok
A group on 8 of us stayed in May 2017.
The Good - nice huge white sand beach
-they played good rock music and games round the pool
The Bad- Food , I'd have to say in my over 20 all inclusive resort stays this resort had the worse food . There was only the one buffet restaurant and the food was the same variety everyday.
Mosquitos were bad day and night especially our last 2 days.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Not an Amazing Resort
First off, the layout of the grounds is not very well planned, it is disorienting to say the least.
We had to ask for a room change because it was too far from the beach and everything else.
Food was definitely sub par. They do not even serve coconut juice/water!
Balcony door was broken. Balcony lamp was not working either. Desk lamp was missing. Supplies such as bath soap and coffee were not replenished. None of these were attended to despite our requests.
We had to pay to get into the disc[... read more]o house including drinks.
The beach itself was nice though, plus the nightly entertainment.
Overall, it was not worth the hard earned money we paid for the place.

Memories Paraiso: First time the buffet tables in a Cuban resort are actually hot!
Travelled Apr 26. All round good value for the money considering we got a reduced rate.I wouldn't pay full price for this place, the long bus ride is a drawback. Santa Maria is 1.75 to 2 hours from the airport . Sunwing should get a 2 for this part of the package.Out of 6 bus trips to Santa Maria we have not had one with a washroom. It should be a must for a long bus ride. Our group of 8 was split up on 2 buses and our luggage was going to stay on the first bus when we got moved to a second bus [... read more]because of a lack of seats. NOT! If you have a large group traveling together make arrangements with the bus tour guide who is checking your names off a list to reserve enough seats for your group. Check in was OK , rooms were clean and things worked well except several rooms phones were not working. Resort was only one quarter full. That was great for most services as the Buffet was uncrowded and facilities were easily kept clean. I have to give them points for the buffet. It is the first resort I've seen for a lot of years that the hot tables in the buffet were turned on and all the food being served from them was hot.Food was a bit repetitive and not a lot of extras. Didn't see any lobster served. They did not have a crepes/pancake station for breakfast. Staff was very pleasant and helpful probably because there weren't as many guests so they could be more attentive and have less understaffed problems to deal with. Most complaints I read sounds like times when the place is full and staff can't keep up with cleaning and repairs.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Lovely resort but very large and hard for older folks to get around easily.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Awesome Staff
We have just returned from our Third stay at this resort. We stayed for 10 days and this time booked a room close to the main lobby. Our maid , Barbara was fantastic and always had our room spotless and made sure we had clean towels, water everyday. We have seen improvements in some of the areas of the resort, fresh paint. More chairs. Unfortunately we noticed way less staff working in the restaurant buffets. We met some awesome staff that worked really hard in the buffets trying to keep up[... read more] with the large quantities of quests. Dylie which I am not sure if I spelled her name correct and a couple of other sweet ladies who I didn't get their names. Since our stay in 2014 we have also noticed a big change in the food selection. What we had was good but the buffet is split into 3 sections and these were just repeats where as before each one would be different. Only saw pancakes, one morning for breakfast and bacon maybe about half the week. I did love their fresh doughnuts and croissants. We loved to go sit in the lobby in the am after breakfast to just chill and have our cappuccinos. The staff in the lobby bar actually seemed to be more than before and were quick to replace our empty cups with fresh. Wish I had got more names as we had a couple of favorites who as soon as they noticed us would look and say "2 cappuccinos". We loved the quiet pool and the snack restaurant next to the quiet pool was great for lunch. I did make the long trek to the ocean a few different times to swim as I am allergic to the sand flea bites so didn't spend alot of time there but the water was beautiful. Our biggest regret this trip was a couple of large groups of very young loud partiers that took over the lobby every evening and would scream constantly so that if you wanted to sit there you couldn't talk to each other at all. Would love to see a separate quiet area where those who would like to have after dinner drinks quietly they could. I felt bad for the piano player as no one could hear her and also for the families with young children as the lobby was not a good place to be when these young partiers took over in the evening. Arlettys was just a dear from customer service and looked after us so well. We were able to go to the Japanese Restaurant twice and the Italian and both were absolutely delicious also we were given a later checkout being a returning guest. We did love the staff and up until this trip would highly recommend this resort but just don't time it the same time as college students getting out or high school students would be my suggestion.

Sol Turquesa Beach: The resort was acceptable.
The resort is very large and beautiful. It is built on a side of mountain. It is not good for people with disabilities. There are a lot of steps to go to either a snack bar or the buffet. There is a lot of walking to everywhere. We love walking but this was more than we expected.
The food is not as good as we are used to in other areas of Cuba.
The pool area was beautiful and always have a chair to sit in. The pools cascade from top to the bottom and are very clean. The beach is v[... read more]ery private and great for swimming and always have a chair for sun tanning. There have a lot of shade if you needed. There is also a beach bar that serves food along with the drinks. One day they had a foam party on the beach which was so much fun and the little children loved it. They had a lot of activities for people who wanted to join in.
We loved the snack bar it was covered and served pizza, hamburger, hot dogs etc. for lunch. They also made great cappuccinos. It was nice to sit and relax. Not used by that many people.
The buffet area was very big and not always very busy. The staff at the resort are very nice and helped anyway they could.
Our room was very nice and large. We were in the 700 area which was the second last building at the end of the resort. Like I said we did a lot of walking. If you could not walk they offered golf carts to pick you up. The maid was supper nice and she introduced herself on the second day.
We did not go off the resort, we have been to Holguin before and did the day trips at that time. This time we just relax.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Memories
The grounds were beautiful.
The beach needed a little caring for. Of course, there is no reason why guests have to throw their cigarette butts in the sand. The ocean was wonderful even though there was no point in our using our snorkeling gear.
The food was OK. People had told us that you have to bring your own ketchup and peanut butter. There were condiments at Memories so I guess they just were not lucky like us. Too bad that the birds also liked the fruit. Of course this is the dow[... read more]nfall in resorts that have open air restaurants. We went to an Asian restaurant and the food preparation was terrific. The Dinner was great. Our chef did not have too much showmanship but sometimes you win and sometimes you loose. He did some juggling with his utensils, but he kind of missed the egg breaking trick. Still, lots of fun. The dinner was fresh and tasty.
House keeping did a good job at caring for our room. We had no problem with mosquitoes in our room, but our friend got bitten badly.
The weather was perfect. There is a something special at the Cuban resorts and at no other. There is a courtyard where they have live music in the evenings. With the weather so great, we could sit out and enjoy it. It did rain once and so the electronic equipment had to be removed, but all in all it was a great time. We were told to bring mosquito repellant, but we did not use it once.
The nightly entertainment in the theatre was amazing. There was only 1 evening that they used the audience participants for part of the show. I find that I like to see talent from the locals and not competition from the guests. Again, I say, the entertainment showed much talent and hard work.
The bad thing about the resort, is the public bathrooms. Not clean at all and no toilette paper. In fact, I had to go to our room for this business, as the pools and restaurant bathrooms were quite disgusting.
The lobby was busy, but easy to find servers. There were lots of tables for our group of 10.
WE think the resort could use a paint job.

I just came back from this resort and unfortunately I was disappointed in my experience. The beach is breathtaking and truly the saving grace for this resort!
Needs renovations, customer service from front desk/bartenders & gift shop was full of attitude and poor professionalism. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Fantastic resort, good food, amazing beach!
The resort is big enough to have everything you need but small enough to feel comfortable. We had a junior suite with ocean view on the 2nd floor - fantastic view with the beach only 100 m away, would definitely recommend asking for a room facing the water, such a nice relaxing sound hearing the waves... Food was very good, in particular the fish, omelettes and chicken. Lots of choice with many changing/new choices every day so we quite enjoyed our meals and didn't feel we had to eat the same th[... read more]ing all the time. Two reservations were already made for us at two of the three a la carte restaurants, and both meals were excellent. This was my first time in Cuba, I was told the food would not be very good but it was quite the opposite! Nightly shows were amazing, with a very talented group of dancers, and the last night we got treated to an amazing rock band, what a show!

Resonance Blu Varadero: Great Time and Great Resort
This was my 9th time to Varadero at 9 different resorts and I will say that this rates as top 2 in my books as for anything less than a 5 Star.
The only negative is the bathrooms in the rooms are desperately in need of updating.
Other than that nothing but positives for this resort.
First resort I have been to where at breakfast there were 4 omelette stations and tasty as well.
Lots of good food good drinks clean grounds.
Family friendly resort for sure as lots of kids there.
