Platinum Yucatan Princess: Resort is beautiful

The hotel was very nice and well kept. Swim up is definitely worth getting as the main pool is always packed and very loud so when you want to get away and enjoy a pool, having a swim up is worth it. Food was good at the restaurants but if a man does not have pants and closed toes foot wear then your only food options are the buffet or sitting outside at the steak house, food at steak house is not the best. Gym is ok, equipment is older but did the job for the week there. Beach front has a lot of seaweed as I read in other reviews but was still nice to relax and enjoy the view. Use neighbouring beach for better access. Also, neighbouring hotel is huge and has a a sports bar where you can play pool etc. which was nice. Overall I’d give the hotel a 3.5/5 and this is more because of the lack of service and staff wanting to help. There are some great staff who will help and show they enjoy their job.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Beautiful Stay

Great from start to finish ! Room was exactly as promised, great location on the property - we did Premium Level - highly recommend - large property but, you can either choose to walk far and venture out - or stay close to your building and will still find everything you need. Sensira Resort and Spa: Good resort bad service

This was our first time in Mexico and after 5 days there I can honestly say it will be our last time. I went there with my wife and two kids (aged 2 1/2 and 4) along with a two friends and their 3 years old kid. I will try to break it down and be as objective as possible. But to summit it up, it is due to bad service from the resort and mismanagement from the travel agency (tripcentral.ca) making it an unforgettablely bad experience. However coming back was daunting since our friend received an email after midnight on the day of the flight saying their flight got cancelled. So we literally woke up in panic mode. We checked online and it was in fact cancelled. I never received any emails but I had to assume we were in the same boat. However after trying to get hold of an agent we were told we were book onto another direct flight of the same schedule. Unfortunately our friend got booked onto an indirect flight since they couldn’t make the cut. It was totally unacceptable as we went there together but had to come back separately. There must have been mismanagement from tripcentral.ca and Air Canada as we only got to know everything through emails and there were no explanation whatsoever, we had to rely on ourselves to call to find out what was exactly going on. Transportation: this is another mismanagement from trip central.ca as we weren’t notified ahead of time where and who to look for after arriving in Mexico. I naively thought I could simply ask for Sensira Resort and would be able to easily locate the shuttle bus from there. I was shocked when I got out of the airport, there were easily 40-50 people holding up signs and holler at you. And to top it off, they were organized by the travel agency with which you booked your ticket, not the resort itself. Needless to say there was no tripcentral.ca representative. After spending 20 minutes going around asking for under which agency tripcentral.ca falls, we had to give up, as it was just not possible to check with each person with 3 toddlers following us around. So we had to pay out of pocket for a taxi to get to the hotel. If tripcentral.ca had communicated better with us ahead of time, it wouldn’t have been such a rough start of a family trip. Condition of the resort: The overall condition was decent but with a keen eye, one can find cracked sidewalks, swimming pools and walls. I am certain they are aware of it as well since there were crews everywhere trying to fix these issues for the duration of our stay and sometimes they would get in our way. It didn’t bother me much though since I understand that it is April (usually a quiet season) and they need to utilize this time to fix everything before things start to pick up. Food: selection and overall dining experience was good. For the buffet, they change the food selection every day to make it refreshing for the guests, which I really appreciate. There is a total of 3 restaurants (Italian, Steakhouse and Mexican). You need to make reservations ahead of time and dress appropriately (not beach attire). Features: Although I haven’t been to any other resorts in Mexico, it felt like this resort had enough features for kids and toddlers to occupy their day. They have a water park specifically for kids, trampoline, table tennis, giant chess set, and a movie theater that plays 3 different movies on a daily basis from 4 PM to 8 PM. However, at the adventure/kids club they check the ID (passport) of the kids, so you won’t be able to misrepresent their age. My son was 3 days shy of turning 4 and they wouldn’t accept him. They also had a baby club where he got to play for a bit, but it did not seem as fun as the adventure/kids club. Service: I would say that this is where the resort falls short when compared to other resorts. It felt like the resort was run by gangsters and that the majority of the service staff did not value us as guests. At times, I honestly felt like I didn’t want to bother them so it would be easier for both parties since they did not seem engaging. The restaurants/shops did not open on time during our stay. Whenever we went to them on time or slightly past opening time, we were always told to wait 10 more minutes as they were getting things ready. We always gave tips whenever we feel the server made us feel welcome and treat us fairly, but one time I forgot to bring cash with me, one of the server came running as we were leaving asking whether these is any tips for them, when I told him so, he gave me a dirty look. This made me think like they felt entitled regardless of the quality of the service being given, and to be honest, the service was questionable at best. It was hard to communicate at times, as the majority of them did not know how to speak English very well, and they just looked like they did not want to be there, thereby making you feel like you are not welcome. There were staff on site who would literally stand next to you just to see if you would break things and remind you to clean up if your kids had made a mess while they couldn’t hire people to get meals ready on time. When I questioned him whether he had problems with us being there, he quickly came within half a meter from me and told me that he was the boss, he could be anywhere he wanted, all with a smug and contempt look on his face. Conclusion:The resort had good food and amenities, but the service was terrible. It was an "unforgettable" family trip for all the wrong reasons. If one could look past bad service one would be fine staying at this resort as it is reasonably priced, otherwise one should look elsewhere. I know we definitely would since we only get one or two family getaways in a year. We would want to have truly an unforgettable trip but for all the right reasons.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Wonderful Stay at Bahia Principe

The resort was very relaxing, everything was taken care of for us by the amazing staff. My fiancé and I had the pleasure of meeting some great staff during our stay. Constantino, who we met at the 24 hour buffet, had taken care of our drinks and even recommended some great food options that were made fresh to order. As well as Kevin who took us home from another resort and provided great conversation. My fiancé and I would definitely look forward to staying here again.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites: Iberostar Paraiso Maya

We have now been there 53 times. Need I say more? And, on this trip, they added a weekly dinner buffet on the beach. It was great! Try this place just to debate whether the Golden Margarita or the Mango Margarita is better!

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Poor/Unfriendly Service

We unfortunately did not have the greatest time at this resort. Many people shared the same experiences. Dirty room, poor service from staff. Food was decent but not great. Buffet meat was consistently way overcooked. The waterpark needs some repairs. My son bumped his head and back due to uneven slides. He was also attacked by one of the wild life and scratched on his hand by the pool. The animal jumped onto our chair and grabbed food from him. The staff called my wife a drunk when she a [... read more]sked for her first drink from the bar. Most of the bar staff seem unpleasant and the same goes for wait staff. They seem to want to stand around and chat amongst each other rather than help the guests. Bars rarely opened on time and we're not staffed properly by the pools. So much went wrong at the beginning of our trip that 4 of the 9 days felt like a write off. The managers did end of upgrading our room for our troubles and provided excellent service. I would recommend speaking to managers if you have issues not the front staff. Was never able to get in touch with reception or anyone by phone including room service. No one ever picked up the phone. I had to go to the front desk each time I needed something or had a question. This resulted in wasted time. However they were able to call us to try and book us for a time share presentation. Overall trip ended up being not what we had hoped for even with our expectations set lower than normal.

Ocean Maya Royale: Amazing stay

We are a group of 5 who went for a one week all inclusive vacation to this amazing resort/hotel. Had a fantastic time starting with the friendly staff to the succulent food to the luxury rooms, two large swimming pools, eco friendly grounds and the ocean frontage. There was plenty to do daily in the resort that our time literally run out before we could fully immerse in the whole experience all which it had to offer. We left with ideas of returning back in the near future.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: A few drawbacks that can be worked around!

We’ve been to Blue Bay twice. There are 2 drawbacks: if you can deal with- 1. no beach for swimming BUT pools are great. 2. Food~ great breakfast and lunch. Dinner buffet poor BUT a la cartes are delicious. So book your dinners each night. Staff is fabulous 🎀

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Extremely good resort

Hotel is very good and area is huge, never been to such big complex, in fact there are 4 large hotels within it. There is a convenient shuttle service between them. Beach is not very good but that is nothing can be done about it.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Needs some TLC .

Grounds not as manicured. Bathroom in pool area 2 out of three bathroom stalls not working . Lids left of septic system smell very unpleasant . Room not kept bed lacked spread left on chair in room. Staff sitting near entrance blocking hall with cleaning cart, animals from resort grounds in cleaning room as food tray left on floor and door opean.

Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Incredible Resort

Our family extremely enjoyed our stay at this resort. There was plenty of options to eat, rooms were spacious and kept clean, lots of great pools. But the best part was the service was top notch from the staff. Very accommodating and polite. We will be back again.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great vacation. Huge resort.

The grounds at this property are very well cared for. The property spans 6 hotels with many large pools and lots of restaurants. The a la cartes are very good with interesting food at each one. The room we had was musty and our clothes always felt wet. I guess that’s to be expected in a hot humid area.

The resort was excellent and we would go again in future. One thing that spoiled the holiday was the but driver that took us back to the airport took us to terminal 4, we asked him if this was correct for the Swoop airline and he said it was, it turned out that the correct terminal was #2. We and all the people on the bus had to get a minibus taxi to take us to terminal 2 (about one kilometer. There were about 12 people in the taxi, the driver charged us 80 dollars American. Grand Riviera Princess: Mills Vacation

Loved it, well maintained and very clean, will definitely be back, pool was clean and did not smell of chemicals, did not like the vacation club very pushy, staff always looking to help, restaurants were awesome

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Stay Away!

We've been to Mexico 30+ times and this is the worst resort. Public washrooms were dirty the whole 2 weeks there. Changed rooms three times. No a.c., broken ceiling fan, patio door wouldn't lock. Room towel shortage. Couldn't get toilet paper twice. The food was substandard for Mexico resorts. Even the a la cartes were very poor. Concierge didn't care about concerns. EVERY Canadian we spoke to there, even people who were there before, said it was terrible and would never go back. Believe EVERY b [... read more]ad review and do NOT stay here! Barcelo Maya Tropical: Amazing Resort!!

This was my second time at Barcelo Maya and I will be back, these resorts are amazing, clean, good food, so much to do for eveyone. I took 4 more people that had not been to Barcelo Maya, and they said it was the best place they had been to in the Mayan. No issues at all, Covid is not an issue anymore, up to you if you want to wear a mask. We stayed a week and didn't get to everything, we will be back. This was our first time flying Air Transat in many years and they were fantastic, much better [... read more] than Sunwing. We had no kids but if you do this is perfect for them, lots of activities, seperate pools, bring a floatie!

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Love Love Love this place!

I have always said i would never go to the same resort twice...well i stand corrected. I would absolutely go back here again. Absolutely beautiful, so much to do, food was great, beds were comfy, staff was so friendly. The only warning i would give is that you must like to walk (which we do) because this place has soooo much to do if you are willing to take a few steps to get there. Deb

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Great resort, would return

Great resort, very clean and well maintained rooms and common areas. The buffet food was actually really good in comparison to other all-inclusives I've been to in the past. There was a lot of great amenities on the resort such as snorkeling and sailing, which we enjoyed. Towards the end of our stay the seaweed that drifts up to shore was quite severe, but the resort worked hard at clearing it best they could throughout the day. I was sitting at the buffet table and the server came up and put a card in front of me to scan and stood over my shoulder telling me his name and what to write and it was rather uncomfortable. All of the front desk staff were lovely. Overall it was a great experience.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Marvelous Resort.

The Fives resort is great for couples, families large and small. I particularly liked the fact that my son his wife and the two little ones (5 & 7) and me could book a two bedroom unit. The main bedroom was included in the main part with kitchen and living area and the second bedroom was in a separate suite but we had a common main entrance. Lots and lots of pools, walkways through cenotes with monkeys and other animals, many ala carte, kids club and snacks and infinity pools at the beach. O [... read more]h and lots of bars. The grounds were immaculate and there were people working on them all the time. We had a garden/pool view and it was lovely. An occasional monkey taking a curious stroll through the main activity area and bars. The complex is large and if you are a walker a couple of rounds of the perimeter should get your steps in, Each building (which are not large and mostly 3 floors) have their own concierge who can help you with ala carte bookings, rules, layout, luggage pick up, whatever you need. Fun for everyone. I would definitely book this hotel again. And I would highly recommend a hydro and massage at the spa. Fabulous and reasonable.
