Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Very kid friendly resort

Very good resort, alot of fun and activities for everyone, the food was very good, the service amazing. However alot of seaweed on the beach and in the water. I would definitely recommend the hotel but not during the summer

Riu Republica: Great times!

RIU Republica was great. Definitely a good party vibe if that is what you are looking for. There are quiet areas too. Food was pretty good. Recommend the Indian restaurant! Room was a bit run down but that is what you get in places like this. Otherwise clean.

Ocean El Faro: Soak Up the Sun, Relax and Unwind

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Ocean El Faro. We did most of the restaurants and found all to be excellent! Mike's coffee was a gem as well! Bowling alley was so much fun. Good time was had at the lazy river, pools, water park and ocean. Our room was plenty big enough for the four of us. We took in a few shows and did an excursion. The grounds were well manicured. The staff overall where very kind, hardworking and helpful.

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Lovely vacation!

Upon arrival, we were checked in very quickly with no issues! The food at the buffet was very good with many options. The beach was wonderful with many spots with shade available. The only issue we had with this hotel was the seaweed at the beach. However, we know that every effort was being made to contain it as best as they could. Serenade Punta Cana Beach and Spa Resort: Excellent

Grounds were well kept. Very clean. Always mopping, always cleaning public bathrooms. Rooms are clean and modern. Luxury master suite was extremely spacious, like a mini condo. It had 2 full baths, 2 king beds and a sofa bed. Bathroom ensuite had no door it was just fully open. Odd if youre sharing with friends. But in the regular rooms theres a blue design on the bathroom glass not fully covered and you can see through the uncovered edges. Need to book reservations 2 days in advance on the app. Good layout of the resort. Everything is easy to get to. Plenty of chairs at pools and beach. No need to reserve. This is by far the least English speaking resort we've been to in 20yrs. It did seem Spanish speaking locals or from other countries got more attention even when we tipped. Those same visitors were very rude, pushing kids out if the way to get their food first at the buffet. This was every meal. This was not the resorts fault. Hard to control other's behavior. Overall we would go back. Very happy. Oh and the bottom of the pool is rough for kids, bring water shoes for them.

Riu Bambu: Annual Family Vacation

Fast, friendly and efficient check in service. Very impressed with cleanliness of hotel. Very easy to get oriented on the property. I enjoyed the fact that everything is within a short walking distance. We enjoyed buffet every day, the variety and quality is at its finest. When red and black caviar is served you know that the Riu is going all out. Plenty of seats, tables and staff to look after your every need. The Bavaro beach is one of the best in the area. Only suggestion I have for the hote [... read more]l is that since we arrived at 10:30 pm with a family of 7 after travelling all day is that they provide a small snack section with fruits and such. The sports bar sandwiches are not enough. As well as bell boy service to take luggage to rooms. It’s a little difficult to get your bearings at 10:30 at night .

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: So so

The resort is big and you can walk or take the golf cart. Decent size pool and kids pool. However, services are so so - majority of the staff are rude. The Italian restaurant was very slow - after waiting for 1 hr 1/2 still no food was reserved. The front desk service was very slow and gives preference to spanish speaking guests even though you are in front of the line.

Vista Sol Punta Cana: Average hotel for the price

We visited this hotel during the first week of July, 2023. I would suspect that all the bad reviews have come from the fact that people just got stuck with a terrible room. We met hotel guests that were very unhappy with their stay, and complained about their room, the main complaints were that the air conditioning did not work, or that the room smelled of mold. In our particular case we had no issues, and the room was OK, except for the fact that we could not just adjust the air condition [... read more]ing and that the ventilator in the bathroom sounded very loud and rumbled like a motorcycle when you turned it on With respect to the food, it was a bit disappointing, as I have been to other resorts in Punta Cana, which had much better food. I think the food was geared towards Americans, and many of the meats, were saturated with sauces, and either ended up being too salty, too fatty, or too creamy . It was also repetitive. Pretty much the same thing every night. The main meat at the grill was pork chops. Although they did have chicken, the chicken was gone as quickly as it was put out. Surprisingly, for a hotel located in a country, which is surrounded by water, you would expect to see more seafood . There was not much seafood at the Buffet. The à la carte Restaurants were OK, but nothing special. We found ourselves going to the buffet after eating at the à la carte Restaurant. The nightly entertainment was typical of these resorts. The animation team was present at the beach, and typical of what I’ve seen at other resorts. The beach itself is Ok. never overcrowded or never had to fight to get a chair. I guess that’s the benefit of a smaller resort. Although there was some seaweed, you can’t blame that on the hotel, as the beach would’ve been almost perfect without the seaweed. But the water was still swimmable, just annoying to have seaweed hit you while you’re in the water. The big disappointment was the staff at the hotel , many of them did not speak English, and I heard staff speaking more French than English itself. When we first got there, our key to the room wasn’t working, and the problem was discovered to be a dead battery in the door mechanism. Something that should’ve taken five minutes to fix. I was first told it would be one moment. Then I was told half an hour. Then a few hours passed and nothing. After complaining to the check in folks they appeared not to care that we were locked out of our rooms. Thanks to Monica Léger, the guest services representative, who made this happen. It took several about three and a half hours for the problem to be solved. Although some people were polite, mainly at the à la carte restaurants, we found the majority of the staff that worked at the hotel were not friendly or sociable. Perhaps it was the language issue, or perhaps another issue such as bad management. To sum it up the hotel itself is not a bad hotel, just needs some work, and I guess your stay will depend on which building you are in or which room you get. As I have mentioned, some guests complained about the air conditioning, being too hot or too cold, and having room smelling of mold, but in our case, the room was almost perfect, except for the fact that we could not adjust the air conditioning, and that the ventilator in the bathroom was extremely loud. For the price we paid, I cannot complain. I could, however complain about Sunwing, as our flight was delayed 15 hours when we left Montreal. We lost an entire day and although the staff at the airport and on the plane indicators that it was due to a lack of resources or staff, a problem which many airlines are facing, Sunwing would not take responsibility, and blamed it on a mechanical issue with the plane ( which just happens to be safety related…an exception under Canadian legislation). We met guests who arrived on other days and many of them had the same issue having at least 12 to 15 hour delays when leaving Montreal to go to the Dominican Republic. Very disappointing with Sunwing, and I am hesitant to fly with them again considering that they won’t take responsibility. If you can avoid Sunwing and fly with another carrier, perhaps you may have a better experience. Although my understanding is that, since the pandemic is over, all airlines are facing the same issues. Sunwing just won’t take responsibility. And I hope they lose many customers, because they don’t treat their customers as they should. SHAME ON YOU SUNWING. YOU SURELY KNOW HOW TO TREAT YOUR CLIENTS. (I am being sarcastic …in case you didn’t get that).

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Great Resort

This resort has a wonderful Caribbean ambiance, and I felt very comfortable being there. The grounds are lush with trees and shrubs. The rooms could use some rejuvenating but they are still nice and comfortable. The food could be repetitive from day to day, but they provided many choices for the guests to choose from. I would certainly return to this resort

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Disappointing

The experience was not very good from start to finish but maybe the worst of it was the food. I would describe the food situation in this way: It feels as if they are using the same budget for food in 2023 as they used in 2015… meaning that with the price of food having gone up as much as it has (all over the world) if you are still using the same budget in 2023 as you were 10 years ago, you are getting much less quality. The food was not enjoyable so that was a major setback for the trip.  [... read more] Other than that, the rooms (especially the bathrooms) were tired and in need of maintenance and refreshing. The Staff tried their best to handle requests and be accommodating which was appreciated. I upgraded to Diamond Club almost immediately after arriving and it was still a ‘less than satisfactory’ trip.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Majestic and elegant indeed!

The Majestic Elegance lived up to its name. The property is grand, the gardens and grounds beautiful kept. The beach is extensive and spacious. Service in the restaurants went beyond expectations, especially in the speciality ones. Service was top notch. The staff was cheerful and upbeat, while being respectful and professional. The rooms very spacious. The bathrooms a bit different design to North American design. Shower stall is separate, toilet area is separate, and sinks and vanity, along a [... read more] wall of the bedroom. In-room jacuzzi. Thanks to trip central travel agent Karol Chareza for recommendations, and his efforts for saving and redeeming our vacation plans, involving cancelled Air Canada Vacation flights.

VIK Hotel Arena Blanca: Don't do it

No AC for 2 days. Fake alcohol. Unfriendly staff. Food that will give you the runs. Very old. Seaweed was all over the sand and in the water. Every 5 minutes you will be bothered on the beach to buy something. Just don't do it. Worst resort I ever been to.

JOIA Bavaro by Iberostar: Very good resort

Everything about the resort was very good, the staff was fantastic. The only complaint I would have is the common areas, hall ways, including the many lobby bar area had no AC, it was very hot made it uncomfortable.

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Excellent Resort

This is a beautiful resort with so many amenities. The food was excellent and there were many options at every meal, so you will always find something to eat. The hotel room and the grounds were very clean and well maintained. Restaurants and other places were easy to find because of the layout with the central avenue/walkway leading from the lobby to your rooms and the beach. There were lots of beautiful places to sit and have a drink or observe others enjoying themselves. Now for the negatives! The staff were over worked and always looked tired, so hence were not engaging at times. Service was slow in some restaurants. The music and entertainment was always in Spanish. The Piano Guy was excellent playing a variety of music for everyone!!! Given the large percentage of English speaking guests, it would be courteous to have some entertainment in English. I heard many other guests comment about this situation. If you need more tourists address this problem! The beach was terrible with weeds and rocks and was not swimmable!!! Management needs to focus on fixing this problem. You could lie on the beach but that was it! Other resorts clean their beach!

Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana: Good resort

The staff was excellent. Always had a smile and wanted to please you. The hotel itself had some issues in the rooms. The door to the bathroom did not work despite being fixed once and the rain shower was iffy. The good was good but not great. The wait times got some of the restaurants were way too long. The buffets were really good and behind glass so the staff had to serve you.

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Amazing Resort

Great hotel, clean, super grounds, but entertainment not so great! Amazing staff, so nice rooms, bars and pools, should also add some more dancing during the day on the beach. .

Ocean El Faro: Fantastic time!

Spent a week at this resort and had an amazing experience. We were told the resort was 98% capacity but there were still enough chairs at the pools/beach for everyone. The service was top notch and the entertainment team is excellent. Can’t say enough good things about them. Highly recommend!

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Fantasia the Dream Palace for kids!

Date: June 2023. We loved this resort! From arrival to departing the children enjoyed every bit and can't wait to return. The food selections for picky eaters were great, the grounds were well kept, staff were courtious and tried their best to help when they could, night entertainment was perfect, kids club staff was great in keeping the kids busy (painting, crafts, feeding the fishes, baking cookies etc) Considering time of year, sea weed was an issue on the beach with high tides.. The p [... read more]roperty itself was very old though, so would benefit from updates to the rooms, their sewage system. Our last two days we had no AC and was difficult to sleep in the heat. Reached out to reception but was unable to rectify before we left. Overall we had a great stay and even though things weren't perfect, we loved it and would return

Grand Bavaro Princess: Better resorts out there

Grounds well maintained and clean, pool and beach also well maintained and cleaned and beautiful, the food and service was horrible, food was repetitive and didn’t have much at times or selection. The restaurants for reservations were horrible. The whole resort works off of wifi for menus and reservations, however the system the week we were here crashed several times and they had no backup as to what to do, we asked a few workers and no one seemed to know anything just kept whirling you aroun [... read more]d in circles, locals are allowed on the beach and bagger you to buy items every 5 mins, and let’s not forget the fact out of a 7 day stay we had to call 5 times out of the week cause our maid didn’t out towels in the room and when you call they would say we are sending someone now and you would wait hours and not for just towels for a cart ride or anything for that matter, safe didn’t work in our room we called and no one ever came to fix it, our fridge didn’t work for 4 days and finally someone came on the 4th day to fix it after being persistent. Save your money, I am sure there are better resorts out there. Not worth the money we paid that’s for sure!

Beauiful grounds, excellent service. Algea started in June however. Hotel closing for renovations of the air conditioning the bathrooms and orher amenties that are due. Hotel on the older side but still very clean. Pools are huge. Wonderful week.
