Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great vacation destination!!!

This resort was fantastic, I was thoroughly satisfied on all aspects of this resort. the staff were so pleasant, polite, always happy, and work so hard to ensure you have a wonderful time at this resort. VH Atmosphere: Quiet resort & plenty of relaxation

Quiet resort & plenty of relaxation is the only way to describe VH Atmosphere. We spent 11 days March 31 to April 10 & chose the upgrade VIP package & the Honeymoon suite. The hotel is small and very quiet. The Beach is a nice 8-10 minute walk & they also offer a golf cart (Choose the walk,You probably could use it. I know I did) The beach is clean a clear & offers you a VIP section, The VIP upgrade allows to access to a la carte (2) unlimited. the menu does not change but they have a good va [... read more]riety of food to choose from. The buffet is well stocked & changes every day and has a nice selection. The upgrade also allows you access to the quiet pool. And quiet it is indeed, hard not to fall into a relaxed state. Alberno & Freddy are top notch & at your service. The upstairs lounge is also VIP accessible & a great place to unwind even more Wally is friendly & welcoming. I would also like to say a very special thank you to Oliver our concierge. & a HUGE Thank you to Gregory with the grounds crew he does such an amazing job and far to often we forget to give credit where credit is due.

The hotel was excellent and clean Grounds were kept good and clean Beach was very nice Front lobby service was great Rooms were specious and clean Food was excellent Pool was kept clean Bar tenders were great and drinks Cant say nothing bad about the resort

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Confresi Palm Beach

The good: the grounds are lovely with gorgeous mature plants and trees, the pools are hardly ever crowed, some of the staff were warm and friendly and went out of their way to do more, the beach is nice and the water is decent, we ate some good food a few times, our four year old loved the milk The bad: our room had no furniture- two beds, an end table and a chair. No dresser. This meant we had to live out of our suitcases and hoist them onto the beds whenever we needed anything. The chai [... read more]r had bugs living in it. We asked for it to be removed but it never was. The one lamp's switch didn't work so we had to unplug it to turn it off. About 30% of the staff just don't care and hardly acknowledge you. It's clear the management doesn't care either, lots and lots of broken stuff around (like the pulled fire alarm outside of our room), staff say they are forced to work with broken equipment. Visitors are constantly harassed to upgrade and people get outright lied to and basically kidnapped to go on selling tours. We were warned not to take a lift from one of these guys, and even when I said I was ill he would not leave us alone. The resort is nothing but stairs, which isn't portrayed enough. We saw people with canes and strollers really struggling. The family pool has two bars in it which led to a free for all on Saturday, with the DJ playing rap music with f-bombs and N-words and we had to leave with our four year old. The adults only pool has no bars and is always deserted. The children's pool does not allow adults. Messed up system. The buffet is mostly cheap filler foods like rice and beans a couple of different ways, plantain, pumpkin and a fish and a meat. The meat keeps getting recycled: ie. beef on day one becomes beef and sauce on day two, that becomes beef goulash on day three. The resort is opened to locals on the weekends, which means it is suddenly jam packed. The buffet ran out of napkins, bowls and foods. It was hard to find a place to sit. At the pools large groups of locals brought their own music and tried to drown out the resort's music. Everything about this place is loud, no matter where you are you have to shout. The mini fridge is only stocked on the first day - we confirmed this with the front desk. You can't drink the tap water there, so they expect you to take your empty water bottles and get them filled at a bar. Basically, if you haven't upgraded to VIP you get nothing. The mattresses are horrid - I always check for bedbugs when I stay away, and the mattresses were stained and had holes. I wish I hadn't looked. The water temp in the shower would randomly change to scalding hot. Dangerous for little kids. Whenever our upstairs neighbour presumeably showered the pipes made a horrible noise that we had to shout over. The toilet would randomly bubble up what I can only guess was sewer gas. There is also no transportation around the resort unless you are a VIP. The pathways are like roads with staff and guests driving way too fast on golf carts. The ugly - both my husband and four year old daughter spent a night vomiting. We assumed food poisoning (no fever), but later realized that the pool they had been swimming in (by the Frosty bar) was full of bird droppings and the filtration system was not working. Bird feces was floating all over the surface and had sunk and accumulated on the bottom. It stayed like this for the last three days we were there. While my daughter was ill she vomited in her bed (we didn't hear because our neighbour was showering and the sound the pipes made were louder through a closed door than the sound of a child puking), and it fouled the bed. Repeated calls to have housekeeping bring sheets did nothing until my husband personally went to speak to the front desk. Two ladies showed up, with one being obviously angry. My daughter was sleeping in the other bed and this woman was stomping around yelling in Spanish, jerking blankets. On our last day my daughter also got diarrhea which made for an interesting flight home. I have also not been right since.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Amazing Resort

My family and I have just returned from a week at Be Live. The resort was amazing, just the perfect size, seconds from everything you could need. I have traveled to many resorts and this by far was one of the best, we would definitely stay here again in the future

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Fantastic small resort!

Great resort small perfect for older couples to get around. The staff was amazing. Really nice beach lots of water sports to do lots of tours. We went to paradise island had so much fun. My husband lost his sunglasses in the ocean and a employee that was in charge of the water sports Felix put his goggles on and went looking for them in the ocean. He found them! My favourite was breakfast smoothies they made fresh right in front of you with fresh fruit that I picked with honey and almond milk. They had lots of fresh fruit everyday. The alacart restaurants were great also they had a seafood, Japanese and steakhouse. The fried chicken they had at the beach snack bar was delicious if you just wanted to get a quick bite to eat st the beach. The negative part about going to this hotel where the locals on the beach trying to sell stuff, braiding hair and even doing pedicures on the beach which I would never get because of sanitary reasons. I don’t understand how people would get pedicures done without the tools being sanitized properly. They would be very aggressive to wanting people to buy stuff from them even coming up to you when your reading and having a nap. It was very annoying and it would be the whole day different people bothering us. Another thing that annoyed us was this was a all inclusive resort but the lobby bar drinks we had to pay for them. We never saw people get drinks there so I don’t see the point of having that bar there waste of space. In general we had a great time the weather was great and I had great company to share my holiday with made more great memories that’s what life’s about😀

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great Resort, Great Staff

This was our first time in Dominican Republic and in this resort. At the beginning we were not really sure, but when we arrived we realized that we made the right decision. The place is beautiful, the food was great, the staff were very polite and helpful. very clean and organized. We had a blast with shows, entertainment and karaoke. Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Third time. Will come back again.

This was our 3rd time at this resort - 3 of 6 bldgs and the buffet have been upgraded. Our room was not in the newer bldgs but was more than adequate(clean & comfortable). Grounds are spotless. The VIP beach is wonderful (beds always available) but the beds are not right on the beach. Covered cabanas at the adult pool are the best. Restaurants are nice and the food is very good. Casa Marina Reef Resort: amazing resort !

Me and a friend went to casa marina for a week and it was an amazing experience! we LOVED everything about this resort! it’s all newly renovated and beauitful, staff was incredible! We will be back!!!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Absolutely amazing resort/vacation spot!

The Iberostar Costa Dorada in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic is a beautiful, very well-kept resort with a variety of restaurants, and buffet choices. Very friendly staff who go above and beyond to make your stay an even greater one. Rooms are clean and well-kept - always hot water and excellent water pressure in the showers. Casa Marina Reef Resort: Amazing vacation!!

Location couldn’t be any better, close to airport, town, beaches. Staff were all very friendly and there to make sure you were happy and had everything you needed. Our Room had not yet been renovated but was still very good. Hotel was quick to respond to any issue we had. Entertainment was fun and there was a good variety. Food was good though we didn’t really like the seafood a la carte. We will definitely be back. It’s a great resort and we had a wonderful time!!

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: “Just Right”

This resort was just the right pick for my friends and I.The resort is laid out perfect not too big everything a short walk away.The grounds were beautiful well kept and clean.The pools were huge and clean very pretty all lite up at nite.We didn’t spend much time at the pool as we are beach people.The Beach was very nice not the crystal clear water and white sand of Cuba but very nice no rocks or coral to be seen and you can walk a very long distance.The rooms were large and very clean maid se [... read more]rvice excellent never a problem with towels or hot water.The food was average buffet offerings but lots to chose from .The restraunts were very good but the air conditioning at the Mediterranean is very cold wear a sweater.The staff were professional but not overly friendly but were very busy.I would recommend this resort and would probably stay again .

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Loved this resort!

Everything was great, very much enjoyed our first all inclusive. The place was great, Room was clean. People were wonderful , Weather was perfect. We went snorkeling for my first time and loved it. Would love to go back!!

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Amazing Resort....

My three sisters and myself just returned home from a week vacation at this resort and Absolutly LOVED it.... We have been to other resort and this one is by far the best one we like so far.... Food was totally awesome... Rooms were extremely clean and very nice décor.. We had an amazing view of the Ocean and beautiful sunny hot weather. The entertainment was great.. We all Loved this Resort and will return...

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Very nice resort!

Aside from the beach, I had no complaints. The staff were always very friendly and willing to help, the food was always tasty with plenty of options. BAHIA Spa was also very relaxing I would highly recommend a massage while you are here. Definitely worth the money and will be returning!

Riu Merengue: Needs upgrading

Hotel room and service staff were good. Beach and resort needs upgrading. Food was not at 4star Resort standards. Number of Restaurants was limited. Wine was not good(almost undrinkable) This was my second time at this resort and was disappointed this time.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great experience!

Very nice, small enough and big enough resort with lots to do. Very happy and active staff. Food is always freshly cooked and very good quality. Very clean. Very live with staff conducting lots of activities at the pool. There is an additional quiet pool if you want to snooze in quiet surrounding. We had the best of time.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: GREAT VALUE Family trip

Family of 5 went for 7 days. The room was clean - not brand new but it was clean and that is all we care about. The food selection was great and everything we had tasted good. We have one very picky teenager and he never left hungry and said all the food was great. We went off the resort to a Baileys one night for dinner which was also great food and service( and free WIFI) hotel wifi was fine but will not work in your room. The staff were all so very kind. There are numerous pools depending on what you are looking for ...loud or a quiet day. I suggest taking an old beach towel from home to use, we were there during a busy time and if you did not have a towel down on a chair before 7 you likely would not get one until late afternoon. The beach and the fun in the waves is also a great way to spend time The bars need to pick up the pace and that is really my only complaint - waiting to get a drink alcoholic or non always took a while.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Average

Grounds were well kept. The rooms were small with double beds not queens and were totally uncomfortable. The beach was disappointing, yellow sand with lots of crushed shells and seaweed. Very limited to the resort, taxi service is available. The food was average but the al Carte restaurants were good. The most annoying issues are the line up and slow service at the reception desk as well as waiting for restaurant booking. Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Relaxing resort!

We thought the property was beautiful, well spaced out and very relaxing atmosphere. There was enough to do without having to leave the property. The food was reasonably good. The appliances in the room (refrigeration) was rather old and it would be nice to have a coffee maker in the room so guests can have cup of tea/coffee when they wake up and before coming to breakfast. Overall a good experience and a relaxed holiday. Nice and friendly staff, especially the activities / engagement team.
