Hotel was nice elevator not working at times Food same every day,pool nice . Service in restaurant could improve .Staff was friendly and polite entertainment at night needs improvement The restaurant should be better organized you sit at your table no one comes to ask you if u need anything.aThere was shortage of pop and poor selection of drinks location is close to down town

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Mediocre at best

Pools are nice, beach is beautiful, rooms are great, grounds are clean, staff is Ok but the food is awful. Lack of variety is one thing, but whatever you do have, can you make it tasty? Bring condiments from home. You get what you pay for. Although I got a nice tan. ?

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Big Warning!!!!!!

Having been to Cuba and especially to this resort numerous times since 2008 I thought I knew what to expect. I was wrong! We are not just talking about some shortages but major shortage and big change in other areas too. From atmosphere to safety. While I was there, 2 couples left early due to safety issues. But if there is no decent bread (flour shortage, no yeast) no butter, no jam, no yoghurt only fruit is watermelon and papaya, then it becomes an issue. Of course no eggs and bacon. No juice. Orange juice is Tang, the lemon juice and strawberry juice that is offered is not juice but the syrup mixture used for magaritas and strawberry magaritas. Lunch and Dinners: Next to the buffet there is only one restaurant at beach and the snackbar that doubles as Cuban restaurant sometimes and sometimes its the International restaurant. I was there for 7 day. Chicken and chicken. Fish is only Tilapi, why - there is an ocean out there. Same with the fruit, there are fruit vendors along road, but hotel only has water melon. Hamburge or hotdogs are served without condiments and bread or bun. Basically just a slice of burger with cheese and a slice of tomato. Hotdog had a big cracker that came with it. No potatoes, but mashed egg plant, mashed plantain, mashed banana, mashed pumpkin. A lot of mashed Salad bar: its defrosted vegtables and fresh cabbage but no dressing - no vinegar, no mayo etc. Hence its just dry piles of canned or previously frozen vegs. The brusselspouts were sitting there lonely the whole week. Cold brusselsprouts. Dessert station: Orange jello and mush again. Meaning there was rice pudding and choclate pudding. No pastries or lil cakes. They had something called donuts - however it was the same dense white flour dough, hard and dense, glazed with choclate or sugar. of course watermelon Atmosphere: Changed a lot too. Staff is tired and worn looking and acting. Front desk ignores customers and generally has no clue when asked a question - this is the young male staff. The older ladies were good. There were lots of American-Cubans this resulted in loud boombox music from different areas of pool. Rude and ill mannered. Lots of prostitution - young girls and old men. There were security incidences that were just scarry and people left. No police was called nor properly addressed. Water and electrical outages. Here and there for a couple of hours But also longer. Water was out one day for 12 hours during the day. Imagine the smell of the public restrooms. You werre unable to clean yourself, brush teeth or anything. I ended up getting myself a gallon of water and used it to clean myself. All in all. It was not worth the money at all. I am shocked at how much it has changed.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Resort was nice

Our vacation at this resort went as expected. Weather was great. Food was plentiful and had free bottles of water every day. Room was large and very clean. Shower had lots of hot water which was a pleasant surprise. The restaurants we went to were definitely the highlight of our meals. Unfortunately the resort seemed short staffed at times and there was no security to be found. Overall we enjoyed our week but would probably not go back.

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing Resort

We were here from April 13-20, 2024. First time to Cuba. We arrived on an early flight from Moncton, and we weren't expected our room until check-in 4pm. We were very excited to get in our room a bit earlier than that. Also, so very happy to get our requested location (beautiful oceanview room 8521). Thanks, Gippsy! We didn't try any A La Cartes...next year we will (promise). We really enjoyed the pizza and fries at the snack bar. I think we had it like 3 or 4 times. hahaha. The resort checked all our boxes in terms of what you expect of a five * resort in Cuba. We will definitely be returning in April 2025. Maybe even for 2 weeks as we found we were just getting settled in by day 4. We did walk a short distance to the three-level market 1.7 kms I believe. It was a lovely walk. Picked up a few things. Every morning, we loved to talk to the gardeners and pool staff. Everyone works so hard to keep this resort in tiptop shape. We met so many new friends in these short 7 days. Some from UK, and some even closer to home like Dalhousie and Miramichi. Hopefully see them next year. My husband loved to play pool volleyball. I played once and got so burnt but so worth the experience. lol Thanks for a wonderful vacation. See you next year!!!!

This resort was very welcoming the staff was absolutely wonderful friendly and appreciative of all the guest. The rooms are very spacious and clean housekeeping did a wonderful job. The beach was absolutely gorgeous lots of lounge chairs and tiki huts. The pool area well there’s 3 pools and another area removed from these for kids. The food was plentiful and somewhat repetitive but remember this is Cuba and they are a hurting country we lacked of nothing and were served with a smile every day. You won’t get fancy dinners and steak never had bacon and never missed any of these things. I would recommend this hotel as best value for your money shop around you’ll see.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful Resort!

The grounds ,rooms,pools,and beach are beautiful. The staff are amazing Jasmin at the pool bar is great at his job,very friendly and kind.The staff in the buffet and other restaurants all go out of there way to make your experience great. The staff are Hard working I will be back forsure ?

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Cheap & great for families!

For a family of 4, we saved thousands by choosing this resort over resorts in other countries. We went into this vacation with realistic expectations. We could easily afford this vacation. We weren't sure what to expect, but our club room was flawless, the staff was lovely, the beach was on-par with Bahamas (maybe nicer) We didn't even exhaust the drink choices-- the bartender at the beach had a large, constantly changing variety of concoctions. We didn't use the kids club because our kids were happy tagging along with us, and it didn't seem active. Mini disco was fun, but was repetetive, except for the foam party night, which was an epic blast! We ate pork belly and eggs every morning (it helps to tip, we may have received some special treatment) naked coleslaw, grilled fish, tough chicken, grilled cheese, hot dogs, lovely soup and plenty of fruit and fresh veg. They had lovely smoothies and excellent coffee. It was enough! You can purchase pizza off resort, but nothing is like Canada. Nothing...and that's the best part. Bottom line. Bring a bag of snacks to eat, and if you don't need them, share them! M9st packaged foods can easily be brought in your checked bag.vBring useful items, we all have things laying around that would be SO APPRECIATED by a Cuban. Happy Vacay!

Melia Internacional: Amazing Resort

We lately heard lots of negative comments about vacations to Cuba but at the Meliá Internacional we had a great experience. Fairly new resort clean abundance of food and drinks and beautiful beach. However they could do better with their services regarding beach towels and more so shower towels. The hotel is 25 minutes from Varadero airport but don’t book with Hola-Sun because it will take over an hour on the bus to get there both ways.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Will never go back there again

do never go to this hotel. Its very mouldy service is no good. Food is no good. Drinks are no good. The beach was not even clean. the bedsheets in the room are never changed. The pillowcases are never changed. Customer service don’t care for their customers. I was sick and my friend too for the whole week that we are there. I do not recommend this place at all.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Wonderful Resort!

This resort is top notch. From check in to check out they were all amazing! The rooms although older decor... were very clean and spacious. The staff were great, always friendly and polite. The food was good. I always found something to eat at the buffet. There are lots of fresh vegetables and fruits. The Japanese a la carte was our favourite! Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Loved every minute

Another amazing week at the Iberostar. Good food (as far as I know they ran out of pop, but that doesn't effect us as we are not pop drinkers.) weather was amazing, staff so friendly and the shows are amazing. Now the down side, there is a new (very green) manager who is not in the least bit interested in how happy his guests are. When speaking with staff, they are all not happy with him. Valentin Perla Blanca: Great Cuban Resort

This is our 2rd time at this resort ( at least 10 times of 2 week stays) . First and foremost you need to start with this is Cuba , and they are having a very hard time with their economy . The shortages are real . We had no water in our room from time to time (resort wide) no coffee , Cuban rum , eggs , bacon , chicken , bathroom tissue . The beaches are the very best , no seaweed ,white sand , shade . Food is plentyful , you will never be hungry . As for the Cuban rum , it comes and goes but there is lots of other options. The resort is gorgeous , well kept . If you give it a chance it may become a place you yearn to visit over and over.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Beautiful resort

The room was perfect with little touches like an umbrella in case of rain. The beach is amazing and the staff is wonderful. The workers have smiles for everyone. The snorkeling is interesting. The pools are big enough to swim in. We will return next year.

Great trip would go back to the Iberostar selection Esmeralda the staff was amazing to my mom n I I definitely would return the beach was clean n we also found beach chairs to enjoy the blue green water

Hotel Playa Paraiso: My opinion of the Playa Paraiso

The grounds of the hotel were nice, the pool was great. Rooms were comfortable, except, they did not change our bed sheets all week or our bath towels. I purposely left one on the floor for the maid to change for a fresh one, and all she did was pick it up fold it and put it back on the edge of the bath tub, Speaking of bath tubs, they were so high to get in and out of you had to be careful not to fall getting in or out of if. They hardly had any night entertainment for adults, and when the [... read more]y did, it was peetty bad. The food was repetitive, which most resort do, as to not waste food. Most of the staff were some what friendly. The best meals we had all week, were in the Italian, Cuban and Portugese restaraunts. We could not get any bottle water for our room aftet the first day, I was told that they did not have anymore. I would give this resort a 3 star and will never go back.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Great resort with amazing staff.

3rd visit to this resort. Unfortunately Cuba is experiencing many shortages which has impacted this visit. Shortages of many items like eggs,bread,chicken,rum and other necessities made this trip less enjoyable than other visits. The worst shortage was toilet paper for 3 days. Fantastic beach !

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: The Good and the Bad!

The grounds, rooms, pool and beach were immaculately kept. It’s a fairly new resort so all areas are up to date. Hot water was hit and miss in our room. Multiple days with cold military showers. Water bottles in the room were also hit and miss. Some days 1 small bottle, other days none. The 4th day we were there they left us a big jug which was great. The staff were lovely and so helpful for the most part. The lobby bar was beautiful with lots of seating and live music. They had Frappuccino, ic [... read more]e coffee and pretty good alcoholic drinks in the lobby bar also. The family pool washrooms by the end of the day started to smell and ran out of toilet paper. The wifi is sporadic at best! The food was hit and miss in the buffet. They had no hot pasta being cooked after day 4, they ran out of cheese for omelettes and some mornings no bread for toast. The lineups for the snack bars were long. We waited 1.5 hours at the beach bar for pizza and about 20-30 minutes at the family pool for fries. If you have picky eaters I would choose another country to vacation in or take lots of snacks and things like packaged oatmeal or Mr. Noodles. The staff will gladly get hot water for you. Peanut butter and Nutella saved us a couple times as our son is picky. Overall great resort if you can overcome the food shortages.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Meh

First the people are exceptional everyone was so nice and accommodating. The resort itself amazing and the beach out of this world. The food was ok I'm not picky but it was pretty scarce to even make a decent salad and even the basics were abcent. Absolutely no condiments hardly butter for toast. Honestly this was the highest price I've ever paid for a resort in Cuba(1700) and the worse food Al la cartes were sad except the Cuban amazing. I lived in Kuwait for 6 months travel extensively and this has never happened. I heard people throwing up on the plane all ate at the Italian. Obviously food safety and handling is an issue. There are diehards to this resort some who have gone 20 plus times can you imagine. The resort is far from airport. Unfortunately food shortages and not much food at all no eggs no pop. Bring a lot of snacks with you. Rooms where nice. Ac worked great. Staff was friendly. Grounds are beautiful. Beach is nice.
