Resonance Blu Varadero: Good resort

The grounds and beach were absolutely gorgeous. The food was not so good. The service was pretty good but a good value for the price. Would say this is a party resort and needs some updating to the rooms.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Nice trip

Over all it's was a good stay the only complaint I have is the lack of Wi-Fi and the food at the buffet. We ended up going off the resort to eat. Also the bank there was a little shady and tried to pull out and extra 200 out of my account we ended up going off resort to a more legit bank

Resonance Blu Varadero: It was nice experience .

Very nice and clean hotel . Resort is amazing and beach and shells ? Just wow . Not far from Havana [only 2 hours by taxi ] . Amazing people . Would do it all over again . Food was ok and so were drinks and entertainment .

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Newer management doesn't live up to the reputation it had

The resort grounds are still lovely, the staff are still friendly. This was my 6th visit and I found it lacking in the personal touch this time. No management to be found anywhere. I requested months and months in advance for a bungalow in either 2 or 3 block. I understand it's only a request but in spite of my request, or because of it, we were given bungalow 5. A much further walk than we anticipated. They did find another room for us the next day in bungalow 1 but it meant packing up again an [... read more]d we couldn't go until 4 pm. Other guests we met during our visit booked their holiday a couple of weeks prior to leaving and they received bungalow rooms in 2 block. And they didn't request anything. Also, the entire week, at least once a day our card keys to enter our room, whether in 5 block or 1 block didn't work and we had to go back to the front desk and get it reswiped. I felt like this was done out of spite because they were put out by our requests. I've never been treated this horribly by any staff in any resort in Cuba before and we've travelled to Cuba 30 times. They were always running out of things. No pizza, no ham or cheese for their sandwiches at the grill. The assortment of food was less than any other time also. No toilet paper or clean towels either. This is quite normal and we've brought extra tp and towels with us so it wasn't an issue for us. We ordered a grilled cheese at the grill one day and received a small plate with melted cheese on it. No bread, just melted cheese? The language barrier with some of the newer staff is quite challenging. I was sure they hired only those that spoke and understood English but we encountered a large barrier this time. The dinner for repeat guests was never offered to us nor was any ala cartes. This is also very unusual. We've always enjoyed this special attention that the hotel has offered in the past. We had to ask about it a customer service and were told that the seating for the repeaters was booked. Nice! Also, we were only given a choice of three restaurants for ala carte. The mediterain, Cuban or Asian. I asked about the steal house, because I've been there before and I know there is one. We were told no, and she repeated the three choices. Found out later in the week that yes there is a steak restaurant from other guests. Why the lying? If it was booked up, well okay. But why tell us they have no steak house? Turns out it wasn't good anymore so I guess it was just as well. The hotel isn't totally all inclusive either. If you want an ice cream sandwich you need to pay for it at the grill and then they will unlock the pad lock and get one for you? This was free before. Also they sell the good beer by can at the beach and give away the awful stuff on tap. The beach has been cleared of all the coral and it is massive and gorgeous. The best part of the entire stay was this beach. The diamond club is a big waste of money and I felt like guests were segregated because of it. They offer a late check out for repeat guests and that was the same as my other prior visits. We never received a complimentary bottle of rum in our room and overall I would say this was my worse experience at this resort. I've always recommended this resort and have sent 30-40 people to it. I honestly won't be able to recommend it anymore. They just don't look after their guests anymore. I'm sorry to say goodbye to my home away from home but we won't be returning to any memories resorts anymore. I'd rather pay a bit more and be treated like I matter. Good bye Memories Flamenco!!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Okay Resort

The resort was ok. I would give it a 3 star. I travel 3 or 4 times a year to the Caribbean and it's definitely not a 4 star. The service and staff was excellent and the beach was beautiful. Rooms and resort are in need of updates and repair. Food was average. It was the same thing everyday. The Asian restaurant was very good. There is no activities on the resort. Other then in the pool. I would experience further south of the island. The resort is isolated from town. So, shopping is limited. Look luck to all, cheers!

Grand Memories Varadero: 7 days at Memories in Varadero, Cuba

My wife and I travelled to Memories Varadero with our 2 young boys for 7 days (April 17-24). While we enjoyed ourselves overall, here is the feedback for this hotel. The room was very dated and unkept. They still have old tube tvs. Our room was very dirty: the shower curtain was black with dirt and mold, the pillows were filthy, the toilet didn't flush well, the patio door was held closed by a simple chain, the sink drain was backed-up so the water stayed in the sink after we washed our hands or [... read more] brushed our teeth. The grounds were generally well kept. There were always workers either planting or weeding. The activity pool however was very dirty. There was a lot of dirt and dust as well as lots of cups floating inside. We booked through Sunwing and was also very dissappointed with the Sunwing rep in Cuba as she never had time to talk and always walked away during mid conversation. We selected this hotel because we got a good deal however I would not go back to this hotel.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great Vacation Resort

The resort was clean, staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The only slight complaint may be about the food. They had the same food all week. Maybe they should have changed it up. But all in all it was wonderful. I would go back.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Great time

This is our 3rd time at the resort only because we love the people that work there.... the resort itself is starting to get run down they need to fix slot of things ... example more washrooms better selection of food the beds need to be changed I had bed bug bites got checked when I got home was not happy about that I really don't think we will go back

Memories Paraiso: Very nice resort but ugly rooms!

Amazing beach and very nice resort. Unfortunately, the rooms are dated and full of bed bugs. This is really unacceptable. Also, the maid would not pay attention to your room without a good tip. The resort is very neglected and need an upgrade ASAP.

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: 3 start resort at best!

This hotel is underwhelming. "Premier" rooms are not well maintained and dated. They are located facing the activity pool and are extremely noisy. For those in buildings 7 and 8 you can also hear the noise from the "social area" which goes on until 11 pm or midnight. The only way to get away from the noise is to keep the air conditioner in the room running. Mini bar is a small fridge that is stocked with 2 beer daily and various sodas. The "class" system is that you must upgrade to Diamond [... read more] status to have upgrades which are not worth the money., nor are they usually available. The buffet food is mediocre and there is no variety from day to day whatsoever. Sunwing states that you may use facilities at the Royalton however they don't tell you that this doesn't include the pools or restaurants (or that there is additional charge for the restaurants at the Royalton and you must make a reservation) because they get to treat you like a 2nd class citizen if you are from Memories. Sunwing also has a vacation club that they like to state is not a "timeshare" but it is and the Concierge at the Memories main focus is to get you to attend a 90 minute presentation after which they will give you the hard sell. We managed to dodge that bullet and the only good part was the "free day" at the Royalton if you attended the presentation. Full use of buffet and pools and restaurants, etc. The staff however are very friendly at the Memories. They are well trained and very upbeat - though they must be bored out of their trees trying to keep the tourists happy. The Front desk is very disorganized but they try hard. Front desk staff at the Royalton were indifferent (we tried to move to the Royalton on the 2nd day of our trip but it was full. Unfortunately it seems the Memories is more interested with upselling the Nexus tours and tourist adventures. They are constantly wandering around the pool areas trying to sell activities and photos and/or timeshares. We have been to the DR many times and have never been hassled to that extent. The water park was a hit with our teenage grandchildren and was the main reason we booked this hotel. That and the accessibility to the Royalton which we found out was not as broad as we had expected. All in all our trip was rather disappointing.

Grand Memories Varadero: Beautiful beach😀

Our stay at grand memories in varadaro Cuba was a mixture of good and bad, the beaches and pools were great, there was never any toilet paper in the bathroom and the service at the bar was very poor always pushing you from place to place to get drinks, the reason in going to this resort was because my mom stayed at the sacuary part 6 weeks prior to taking us and had a wonderful trip, the rooms and service were awesome. However the grand memories was not so great, the food was good if you could g [... read more]et a server at the buffet to get your drinks to go along with your food, we also seen sercuity guards stealing towels off the chairs on the beach that people had put there to save there seats and people would have to pay $20 to replace the towels that there staff were taking. We wanted to take the double decker bus into town one day and a worker told us to wait here, the bus stops here, he reached into his pocket and gave us all a bracelet that his "wife" makes so we all gave him a tip and we waited for the bus, only to miss it because the bus did not stop there. 2 days later he tried to pull the same stunt on us and we just kept walking to where we were told to wait for the bus and he mumbled something in Spanish. It is a very large resort I think around 960 rooms and they did not have enough staff to keep it running properly. We went to complain to the lady in the customer service room and she even told us she has been there for 18 years and she was planing on quitting herself, that's how bad it was 😐

Memories Jibacoa: Fourth time just as good as the first time.

My wife and I just finished a week at this Resort. We keep going back because the staff is wonderful. On this visit, it was by far the best buffet we've ever had. There were actually several meals that we would recommend. And because the resort is not overly large, we did not feel there were guests crawling on top of guests.. There was always room at the restaurants and on the beach. Highly recommended.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Just a horrible experience, that's all

I am really sorry to give this hotel a bad review, but there was no warm water during our stay. We could not have a shower !!! The butler informed us that there is no sunny weather so the containers with the water on the hotel roof don't warm up !!! The hotel grounds were nicely kept but there was no area to sit down and relax, no launge area and it was only adults hotel !!! All the beech chairs by the pool were reserved all day long with no people occupying them, only beech towels. No i [... read more]nternet was available during our stay April 14-21, 2017. The cards we purchased did not work. No internet was available in the lobby either. The washroom around the resort had no locks !!! And this was a 4+ star resort ! The food was nothing special as were all the restaurants, less than average, but the worst was all the servers waited for tips !!! No tip - bad service. My last comment is AVOID CUBA AT ALL COST and save your money. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE ! During my stay the cleaning lady stole my gold & diamond ring right from my purse. Of course I reported it to our butler, but guess what, we will look for it I was told. The butler made a written report on the stolen diamond ring, it had not only a high monetary value but a sentimental value as well. Memories Jibacoa: Amazing !

As experienced travelers to Cuba, we have experienced all kinds of service, from good to down right horrible ! This hotel is simply amazing ! It all starts with the very hands on management group starting with Ernesto and Miguel. They were always out and around the resort talking to guests, getting their feedback and offering any assistance they could. This great service filtered down to all of their staff. It truely feels like your home away from home. For those who like a small resort this is absolutely perfect ! You are only a short walk to the beach, the pool or the main lobby. I could go on and on about the property but go and visit and you will agree with me. As can be confirmed by the number of guests that have been coming back year after year. That should say something !!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: A Slice Of Heavon...

We stayed at the Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria Apr. 11 - 21 / 2017. The weather was fair as it was windy this time. The Resort was excellent. Lots of water/pressure and heat. Our room was kept clean every day and when ever we needed anything , the resort responded promptly. Our cleaning lady did a superb job . The people that work at the resort are always pleasant and smiling. Everybody was smiling ! The staff is of the upmost ! The Entertainment was great . The poolside music was our music ! The resort staff treated us like family. Such a wonderful place to have a holiday. We ate very well . The food was very good. The presentation a 10/10. The choices were many , the beach....o that beach. If only I could have that beach...I long to have that beach ... again. Oh yaaaaaaah . Soft sand like talcum powder , and the blue ocean water , the gentle breeze on my face..... The electric carts that moved us around the grounds were superb. The different games on grounds , chess, volley ball , pool , bingo...all of it ..just so exciting. A holiday is a time to relax , have fun and spend time with that someone special. This is that place to do just that. I would say to anyone , don't put it off , go. You will never forget it !!

Resonance Blu Varadero: Awesome Resort

The resort was amazing. The rooms were good. The beds were ok. The food was good including the ketchup. The pools were amazing and a blast. The entertainment was great. The beach was out of this world. The plant and vegetation was amazing. The best for last was the staff, they were friendly,helpful and worked hard to keep that resort running.

Memories Jibacoa: Handy and convenient, Not much walking.

Arrived well before noon on April 13/17 and did not have a room until after 4 p.m. Most of the food is either lukewarm or cold unless you want to stand in line while they cook it fresh for you. Had problems with Air in the room 3 nights in a row, woke up in a sweat. Took 3 complaints to finally have it repaired properly. Had cramps and diarrhea after each of 3 different a-la-carte restaurants and still suffering today, April 24/17. We booked a tour of Havana with Sunwing rep. and after wait [... read more]ing over 45 min. for the bus, it arrived at least half an our late and was so packed, we could not get 2 seats together and had to cancel.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Really nice resort

There's nothing like the cuban service! Staff was like family and always helpful :) Beach was nice and clean. Not my favorite food but I could always find something that worked. The a la carte restaurant were pretty good. Lots of feral cats around...so if you're not a cat lover, this might not be your place! All and all a great vacation...I would go back to this resort!

Memories Jibacoa: A Great Return Trip to Memories Jibacoa April 2017

This was our third time staying at Memories Jibacoa. We had wanted to return because of the great snorkelling just off the beach and we really liked the location of the resort, it is not In a strip of hotels, but more isolated and quiet. We were very pleased with a number of developments at the hotel. The food is much better, especially in the buffet. The Cuban restaurant was the best of the three reservation restaurants. The other two were disappointing. The staff were great and the hotel seem [... read more]s to be making good service a real goal. We received two calls during our stay ask if our room was okay or if there was anything that could be done to make our stay better. When we arrived, our Oceanview room was spotless. The furniture is getting a bit dated, but there are new towels and shower curtains, which were very nice. The air conditioner in our room sounded like a 747 about to take off and we asked if could be fixed and it was that same day. The hotel has also improved the wines it has for sale and the prices are reasonable. The one problem that we had during our stay was the weather. It was very windy for the whole week and that limited the amount of snorkelling we could do.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Memories Caribe: Great quality

The hotel was very bright and all areas of the resort were quite clean. All staff were very nice and accommodating. The maids were very nice, fast and professional. The food at all of the restaurants was always hot and delicious (a nice variety everyday). The bars served great drinks and fast. Customer service was always available to address any concerns. The best beach in the Caribbean is found here, hands down. This was our second time at this resort in 3 years and will return soon.
