Catalonia Royal Tulum: Dream Vacation!

As the title says, this was a dream vacation for my partner and I. Everything about this hotel was amazing. The atmosphere while walking from the rooms to the beach was incredible, especially getting to see all the wildlife! The staff was also awesome! From the restaurants, the bar staff, and the ladies taking drink orders on the beach! The food was fantastic, there was never a shortage of anything to eat. The breakfast/lunch buffet was delicious and service was great. We tried the steak, Asia [... read more]n, and Mexican restaurants. They were all great but the Asian restaurants service could greatly improve as we waited over an hour for even the appetizers. The best thing about this hotel for both my partner and I was the beach! White sand, clear blue water, so many fish in the water, it was absolutely beautiful!

El Cid Resort Castilla: Not for me

I felt the hotel was money and tip oriented. They were always trying to sell you something and unless you paid their highest tier it was not convenient. The access to the a la carte restaurant were limited and to get one you needed to line up before 7 am. The buffets were just adequate but nothing special.

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Fantastic Resort!!

The grounds at the hotel were beautiful and the food was amazing! Very good customer service ? The only complaint I have is there was a strong sewer smell coming from the bathroom which we eventually got used to..

Allegro Playacar: Our go-to resort!

This was our 4th visit and we love the intimate feel of it as it's a smaller resort. The villas are close together and the rooms are small but have all the amenities. The food at the buffets is great, with a different theme each night so we never bother with the a la cartes. Beach is fabulous, and the pools are clean. Usual loud music around one pool but the other one is quieter. Plenty of loungers and beach towels available. We love seeing the animals that live on the lush grounds. We went [... read more] with Air Transat Vacations and our only complaint was how long we had to wait at the airport for the transfer to the hotel (90 minutes). We took a taxi back for $75 USD and slept in a couple more hours.

Golden Parnassus Resort & Spa: not even close to a 4 star

When we first checked in they tried to down grade us, since we have never been there before. We paid for a club room. After we said thought the club rooms were on the 6th floor. We got the room and no safe was in there or the other things that go with the club room. We changed rooms the next day. Only seen 2 pools. Said they have 7 restaurants but only 6, and only 2 open at a time. One never opened. One was open once and that was the Barn and the best meal we had. The buffet was not open ever n [... read more]ight. After we seen the cockroaches on the counters 2 days in a row, we did not want the buffet. The Sumo restaurant did not have all what was on the menu, about 4 or 5 items not available, even if you were in there when it opened. We have booked all inclusive for the last 17 years except when covid shut the world down. We travel 2 or 3 times a year and this was the first resort that a rep. was not there at all. We had a free shopping tour and didn't know how to book it. Very little entertainment at night. The activities around the pool were aerobics, tequila volleyball and bingo.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Last time

This was our second time at Barcelo tropical. We again did not get the rooms we hoped for we were travelling as a family and we didn’t even get in the same building let alone the room we want we were on the third floor, which gives you a lovely view from your balcony of a concrete wall. We were located right near the theatre where the entertainment takes place meaning you couldn’t go to sleep till 1112 or 1 o’clock in the morning, depending on when they stop the entertainment, we had to call dow [... read more]n to get coffee delivered to the room because for some reason the maid didn’t leave it. The ground of the hotel are beautiful. The pool is perfect. The beach is lovely. It was December that we went in extremely hard to get a seat near the pool or anywhere else for that matter the buffet is always great. The restaurants are mediocre to terrible except for the Japanese restaurant. It’s a good 45 minute bus ride to the hotel from the airport if you check in late in the evening you definitely will not get the room you want.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Okay resort but not great!

It is a very big resort and the golf carts that come around can be a bit hit and miss. The food was really great but the pool was cold and although the sand on the beach was really soft and nice the water was always really rough. The biggest turn off for me was how overpriced everything was. I expect resort prices to be high but this was ridiculous. We needed Tylenol for our daughter and they wanted $20 US for 10 pills and when we ran out of sunscreen they had really cheap, poor sunscreen fo [... read more]r $45 US. The lobby staff just wanted to upsell you to their time share scheme. I will say the entire resort was really clean and the staff were all super friendly. The cost of the items didn't take away from our vacation but I won't ever go back to an Iberostar just on principle alone (see more below). Also, don't waste your time on the snorkeling trip from the resort. It was super expensive and incredibly disorganized. You have to cross over a very rough rocky beach area where several people got hurt on the rocks to get to the boat at the resort. That took at least half an hour and from there they take you out to the ocean and literally drop you in the ocean at a very small and very dead coral reef. There was a large family on the boat with several small children and a baby and the sailboat was a catamaran with a flat deck and no rails. They carried the baby over their heads out to the boat across the rocks without a life jacket. Had the worker fallen that baby would not have survived and many people fell trying to get out across the rocks in the rough water. I know that a young girl died at the resort a few years ago from drinking homemade booze the resort gave her and I don't think they learned their lesson as I saw them filling up alcohol bottles from plain white jugs.

Riu Latino: Relaxing,fun hotel

This resort is immaculate every where,the staff are seen cleaning and ground keeping constantly.The food was great as usual for a Riu.The only downside I could see is that there weren’t enough bathrooms around the resort,with many having long lines as there weren’t enough bathrooms only two stalls in most. Otherwise we would definitely go back!

Sun Palace Hotel: Would go back!

This resort is on the smaller size which personally I loved. The food in every restaurant was top notch. Another bonus is how close it is the the airport. There was a variety of musicians in the bar and at the pool each day.

Sunscape Sabor Cozumel: RUN!!!!

I want to start by saying that we’re not picky travelers and usually enjoy wherever we go, but this experience at Sunscape Cozumel was beyond disappointing. This is our second time in Cozumel, and I can confidently say I will never return to Sunscape—even if they offered me a free stay. From the moment we arrived, the front lobby staff was aggressively pushing a $380 US massage package for one hour (per couple). Of course, we declined, but it set a bad tone for the rest of our stay. The wo [... read more]rst part was the food. There are only two restaurants on the property. The buffet is only available for breakfast, and for lunch and dinner, you're forced to endure a slow, painful à la carte experience. Each time, we waited 30 minutes just to be seated, and another 30 minutes to be served. I can tolerate the wait if there’s a varied menu to choose from, but both restaurants had just 6-7 options, and the menu never changed. It felt like we were eating the same limited choices over and over again. The lack of variety, the frustratingly slow service, and the overall lackluster dining options were a huge letdown. It’s hard to relax when you’re dealing with such poor food service, and I would never recommend this resort to anyone. If you're looking for a place with decent food and a better overall experience, I suggest you look elsewhere.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Swimming with sea turtles and reef fish

We just returned from a family vacation at the Barcelo Maya Beach. We stayed in a premium king suite it included two single daybeds, which were perfect for my two girls ages eight and 10. Staff were attentive. The resort was spotless, and the food was amazing. I highly recommend this resort or any of the other Barcelo resorts on this property.

Krystal Grand Cancun: Great location

The hotel is solid 4 star, great location and beautiful beach. Room had odor and could use some upgrades but everything works fine. Service was excellent at most restaurant except the beach. Specially the buffet, they were so accommodating and helpful with all our request. Thank you to Luisa she really took care of our family. She made sure she checked up on daily, and requested special food for our toddler who wasn’t feeling well. We can’t thank her enough. Room for improvement - the hotel  [... read more]needs better entrainment, felt dead compare to any other hotels we have been. And better desert selection and more tropical fruits options. We will def come back to this place and recommend it to others.

Moon Palace Cancun: A wonderful family stay at Moon Palace Nizuc!

This hotel has more that anyone should ever need to experience a week of pure rest and relaxation. We stayed at the Nizuc location and I am very happy that we did. It was less busy than the Sunrise location yet we were still able to access all of the amenities of both locations. The pools are wonderful and there was always lots of room to find loungers and lots of clean towels available. The service was impeccable - drinks and food by the pool all day and the buffet had plenty of options of healthy, good quality food. The rooms were fine but the layout is a bit inconvenient. We had no issue as a family of four having enough room to feel comfortable but the rooms are a bit dated but very clean. Our ocean view room was a very nice perk and it was conveniently located close to the pool and Nizuc lobby. To secure restaurant reservations you need to be proactive and call in early to make sure room is available. We were a group of 13 and as a larger family and we were able to try most of the places and all spots were a pleasant experience. The amenities at Sunrise were very fun for our two children (8 and 6) namely the Wired Lounge and the Playroom. The hotel entertainment staff also had great events going on daily such as soccer on the beach and face painting. The hotel met all of our expectations and we made lasting memories.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Barcelo Maya Beach

We've been to this hotel many times and it never fails to make us happy. The staff are always happy and accommodating. Pools are huge and clean. The food like pretty much all AIs, is fine. There is so much variety that you'll always find something you like. Had steak at the Japanese restaurant and it was really good! This was our first time there over the Christmas holidays, and for the first time in all of our visits, we had to play pool/ beach chair game. Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Maya: Amazing Resort

Margaritaville Island Reserve Cancun is a fantastic resort. The grounds are meticulously kept and the gorgeous beach is just steps from your accommodations. The staff here is phenomenal especially José and Hector.

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Beautiful resort!!

Great family vacation at Iberostar Tuscan! The beach and turquoise ocean was stunning, with lots of space for activities. We loved all the greenery with the birds and animals, especially monkeys swinging away.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Don’t recommend

The food was mediocre at best and booking an a la carte is the worst process possible. The resort is in need of repair. The beach is extremely rocky and you need shoes. The staff was great!!! Seems like it could be a great place just needs some TLC. Wouldn’t send anyone here. 3 star at best

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Beach was fantastic!!

We loved this hotel! It was very clean. The rooms were great. The resort never felt overcrowded. We snorkeled right off the beach everyday, enjoyed paddle boarding, yoga and pickle ball. Our only downside was that the food was only so-so. Nothing was bad, but nothing was outstanding either. If you aren’t too worried about food I would recommend this resort any day. If you are looking for the food to be amazing I would suggest elsewhere.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Barcelo Maya Riviera

The resort is huge. It’s modern, clean and grand. Rooms are a great size & beds comfortable. The adult section can be quiet in the evenings, but a short walk or shuttle to the other hotels at the resort and you will find plenty of activities. The big problem is not enough chairs around the pool or the beach.

Fiesta Americana Riviera Nayarit: Nice but needs some work

The resort in general was clean. The staff were fantastic!! Drinks were always made fast and staff remembered you. Hotel in great location. Food choices were OK, always very hot and plentiful. Repetative throughout the week. I would say overall food was 6/10. A La carte were great but very very hard to get into. Always “booked” but empty when you went. Kids had no problem finding lots to eat. Issue was there was no snacks or restaurants open at different parts of day, no food or drinks near the [... read more] pool. No food at all brought outside the restaurant. Kids could have used some afternoon snacks. The rooms needed some TLC. Our glass shower door was hanging on by one loose screw, did not close and leaked our sink faucets were not attached and leaked as well. Towels were always minimal even pool towels were difficult to get some days. Staff very strict about kids playing in the pool even though it was empty. Not able to sit with feet in water and have a drink. Beach was nice. Busy and times but overall great for waves and some creatures.
