Hotel Camino del Mar: Lovely, but needs a lot of attentionl

This resort was beautiful to look at but unfortunately some drawbacks. The rooms need considerable up-grades. Floor chipped and rusted around facilities. People reported water deficiency and no hot water at times. The pool needs a lot of work since the liner has split in several places. The food was good and available not only in the large buffet room, but in two other restaurants and snack bar. The staff was friendly, the entertainment was excellent. the grounds are well-tended. Melia Las Dunas: A Relaxing Vacation

First of all we have been to Cuba 6 times - Varadero, Holguin, and Cayo Coco so we had reasonable expectations of what to expect for food and accomodations. WIth that being said this is one of the best we have stayed in. Did we have minor inconveniences? Yes. Did it ruin our holiday? Absolutely not. If you go in to your vacation expecting to relax, take things as they come, enjoy what they do have rather than focusing on what they dont, you will have a wonderful time. No activities by this pool scheduled which was fine for us as we were there to relax and enjoy. The Good: check in was fast. Our room was clean and nice. Our fridge was well stocked with water (ask for extra and they will give you - tipping helps), beer and pop daily. The grounds are stunning and well groomed. The gardeners work hard to maintain this beautiful resort. The beach was nice. Staff were very friendly. Food was good and flavourful but repetitive. We enjoyed our a la carte restaurants (Cuban, Italian and Oriental) and had no issues getting reservations for both 630 and 730pm. For the most part, chairs at the pool and beach were easy to get. The ice cream parlour was a wonderful treat. The beer garden was a lovely shady spot to relax and enjoy a bottle of Cristal. Money exchange at the front desk was nice vs waiting at the bank and you did not need your passport to exchange money at the front desk. No issues getting single pesos. Note: exchange rate when we were there was $20 canadian got you $13.20 CUC. Lots of activity in the lobby in the evening. Pool was well kept and clean. The layout of the resort was well thought out. It is large but manageable. The market attached to the resort was nice to walk to. The double decker bus ($2 CUC/person each time you get on the bus) or the train (free) that picks you up in front of the resort and goes to Plaza Las Dunas and Plaza Estrella was fun to buy souveniers. Areas for improvement: The resort is very dark at night - some walkways/buildings were lit at night and others not and then the next night it seemed the areas illuminated were different. We suggest bringing a flashlight. Our key didn't work to our room twice but a technician was sent very quickly and fixed the problem. Our bath towels were only changed twice in the week and we tipped daily. Wondering if this has to do with the laundry issue they also experience with the pool towels? Wasn't a big deal, we just hung them up after using to dry out before our next shower. Some rude travellors (not the hotel's fault) hoarding food, littering, yelling at other tourists about pool chairs, some noted to be rude to staff. Service at the snack bar was hit or miss. Some days food options at beer garden and snack bars were limited, We did not enjoy the imported beers (preferred Cristal when they had it). Overall we loved the resort, the staff, the beach and the numerous food and snack options. Planning our trip back in December already.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Not recommended

The grounds are very well kept and attractive. The beach offers a long stretch for walking. That's the good part. The staff spoke poor English. Generally the room were not serviced until 3 or 4 o'clock in the afternoon - the staff seem very slow. Food - while there is lots of choice the hot food was often cold - ie. a pan of french fries might be brought out and put on a hot plate but they were cold. The only thing nice on this resort is the beach. but don't go there after dark or the wild dogs will try to attack you! Melia Jardines del Rey: Big fun resort!

This resort is very clean and well kept. It is on the large side so you have to enjoy walking. There is always something to do and we found the lobby a happening spot...lots of people congregate here and have drinks. We brought music and had a blast. The only downside to this resort are the line ups in the buffet....and the week we were there I think all the guests left their manners at home. Really rude people pushing and butting in line. Many guests were repeat and I noticed a lot of the staff were sought out and hugged and given gifts by them. We had a plumbing issue (toilet on third floor was plugged) so they shut off water on the second floor to resolve this...however it took longer then we had hoped and we were without cold water and a toilet for a day/night. This was unfortunate but it is what it is.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great time!

It is a large resort but you will never feel crowded! Food was great and yes the buffet can get a little crazy but nothing that you can't live with. The resort is large so if you have mobility issues that may be a concern! Overall great time!! Would go back again!

Hotel Vigia: Great resort - great value

The resort is not the fanciest on the island nor the most comfortable to sleep, however you are going to Cuba for the ocean and this is a great spot. The Gardeners are the nicest people on the resort but everyone is equally as nice. Food is good. Gets bland and repetitive but you won't get sick. Entertainment was fun. Pool is nice. I would go back.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Loved it !

Wonderful staff, great food and an amazing beach! We had a great vacation. Lots to do, beach volleyball, foam party, aquafit, bingo and other special events. Rooms could use some updates and had some issues with the toilets. But overall would recommend this resort!

Memories Cayo Largo: Relaxing and Rejuvenating

Food can always be improved in Cayo Largo but the food is not why we went there.The hotel ,grounds ,rooms and staff exceeded our expectations. The beach is the main reason we go to the Sol. We certainly will be back.

Melia Marina Varadero: Warm atmosphere

My husband and l chose this resort for my bday. Prior to getting there we sent an email with a special request in order to make our stay memorable. We were told at the front desk they will try to honour our request however the room we were given overlooked an area of the resort where there was this loud music blaring at 2am when we checked in! The food was not the best but you wont go hungry if you are not too picky. The cappuccino was excellent in the lobby! Very warm staff!

Sol Cayo Coco: Very nice resort

Second time there and will definitely come back. Grounds well kept, beautiful beaches, food very good for 3,5* resort. Very friendly stuff and almost no mosquitos:). Resort is small so you'll feel familiar with everything around in a moment.

Sol Palmeras: Excellent value! Fabulous service!

The mature grounds are beautiful to look at and very clean. The staff are knowledgeable and willing to provide great service. The entertainment is talented, but there is not enough of it. There is 24 hour alcohol,,but unfortunately there isn’t 24 hour food service which is more important.

Melia Las Dunas: Melia Las Dunas

Large resort.....caters to a large crowds. Fairly clean resort. Majority of staff are helpful and friendly. Always plenty of evening entertainment. Food fair with limited choices (specialty restaurants only slightly better) Lobby bar and beer garden open all night for the late birds. Location a bit far from airport.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Chill Vacation

We stayed at this hotel for a week at the end of March 2019. The hotel and the grounds are beautiful. The rooms are a good size and the king beds were very comfortable. The food was so-so although we always found something to eat at the buffet. The restaurant closest to the beach was our least favourite (food not very good and staff were not the most attentive), the other restaurants were ok but by far we found the Japanese the to be best food and staff. It was windy for a few days and that brought the jelly fish up on the beach so you did have to watch sometimes where you placed your foot when you were close to the water. The biggest let down we found for the hotel was the lobby bar which was understaffed and the staff at times were either inattentive or just did not want to serve you. Never stayed at an all inclusive that you had to stand in a long line up to wait to be served and then when you were served invaribly you were not given what you asked for (example would be asking for a rum & coke with dark rum and been given a rum & coke (with white rum) and a dark rum chaser or asking for 4 beers and getting 4 fantas. The waiters/waitresses would clear the tables but rarely asked if you wanted another drink. Overall it was a decent hotel and we enjoyed our vacation they just need to work on somethings to bring the hotel up to par with some of the other hotels in Varadero

Melia Jardines del Rey: Awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was the worst vacation i have ever been on. I got really sick for all the bugs that was at the hotel. I have to seek medical attention from the staff at the resort and believe me it was bad. The medical staff was the greatest but the hotel staff was not so much. I found myself shaking my head at the disrespect i seen in how the staff treated not only other guests but each other. I will never return to this resort because of this experience. I know that this has nothing to d [... read more]o with you or your company but you need to know this is not a great place to stay.

Paradisus Varadero: Great Resort

Room was great nice location next to pool and 24 hour pool bar which had amazing chicken wings and excellent ice cream. Food in buffet could have alittle better selection and hot items were not too hot. Resturants we ok and the beach buffet was very nice with a good choice of barbque items. Beach and pool area had lots of palm trees and plenty of chairs. All in all we had a very pleasent vacation.

Paradisus Varadero: Great Resort!

Had a wonderful relaxing time. We were happy to have had our suites near the pool and beach. Even though it rained a bit, still there is always someplace to just sit and relax or listen to the music and wait it out. Found everyone to be polite and very helpful. Loved our stay there.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great Resort

We Loved the resort. A lot of walking which we loved. Beach is beautiful. Staff was super. Only complaint would be that they do not stock the fridge with beer or supply coffee in the room everyday. Would definitely go back!

Melia Marina Varadero: Great Value and Staff

Had a great time at Melia Marina. The staff were awesome, food was very good. Rooms are a bit dated but are clean and provide everything you could need. The staff is more than willing to assist you with any questions you have. Beach and pool are awesome!

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: A little tired.....

Unfortunately this resort fell a little short. Having travelled extensively to Cuba, we know what to expect and decided to venture here as we couldn’t pass up the price for a quick getaway. We keep returning to Cuba for the amazing beaches and this resort is situated on one of the best beaches in our opinion.
