VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Gran Ventana Resort - a good time

Gran Ventana resort is clean, and the staff is helpful and accomodating. Food and drinks were plentiful and available till midnight. At the buffet restaurant there were always free tables, at any meal sitting. Entertainment was lively, each night. Pool activities were plentiful. Rooms/facilities were nice. We felt very secure on the resort's premises. Beach is relatively small with limited number of palapas. Swimming was an issue, as there are coral rocks in front of the hotel's beach. These roc [... read more]ks are 1 ft below the water's surface. Therefore only wadding is possible. However, no problem swimming in front of other nearby beaches (of adjacent resorts). This resort does not offer usage of sailing boats (small catamarans) as in other resorts we visited in the past. We shall recommend this resort only to people/families not interested in on the ocean water sport activities. Note: If you stroll the Playa Dorada beach, beware of the time-sharing sellers operating from the nearby Gran Paraiso Resort (Gran Paradise).

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great vacation spot with a beautiful beach

Well maintained resort despite its age...very friendly people .. Beautiful beaches.. Main pool gets very crowded at times I wish there were more pools in service especially on the west end. Also I found main pool closing at 6 pm is a bit early an it does not look nice to be kicked out with a whistle blow. Rooms were nice.. But furniture was old drawers were not working properly.. It would be nice to have dedicated vegetarian section. Wait time at the French restaurant was way too much but food was good...

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Amazing!!

I love this place. I go 3 times a year and always stay at this resort!! The food, staff, and all involved are great. Very clean. Anything you need they will get for you!I have no complaints. I would recommend this resort to everyone!!

Paradise Playa Dorada: Return visit

We booked a standard room with a balcony. The room was clean and they supplied us everyday with bottled water. We like this hotel because of the location of the buffet restaurant and the snack bar/ ala carte eating by the ocean. We found the food very good in the buffet and ok in the 2 ala carte with the Italian being our favorite. We found all staff very good. The internet is too expensive. 9US a day or 38US a week.We look forward in returning again.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: It was a fantastic experience

My experience was great, I fully enjoyed the food, entertainment and helpful staff. My room was standard however the phone did not work as well as the air conditioning. The view from my room was great and in joyed the fact that everything was so accessible. I would definitely visit again.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Amazing Resort

The location at first seemed a bit strange however when I saw the resort it was beautiful and very welcoming. The staff was amazing in every way, they were all very kind and helpful. I had my niece and nephew with me and the staff treated us like family, anything we needed was provided to us. The one problem I had was with the WIFI the kids were not able to use their devices. Due to heavy winds I didn’t use the beach at the resort as often but the view from my room was breathtaking. I really enjoyed my experience and would definitely visit again.

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: 2nd Visit and still love it!

We’ve gone to this resort for the past 2 years. We love it here. The grounds are beautiful and food is excellent. All staff are kind and inviting. Beach is beautiful. We had a minor issue with our room (air conditioning stopped working) and the staff were quick to resolve the problem. They sent a complimentary fruit tray to our room for our troubles and checked in to make sure our stay was going well. Lots of restaurants and activities to choose from also.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Nice resort

Lovely resort, grounds are beautiful. Rooms are clean but dated. Pools and beach are nice but the ocean is quite murky and lots of seaweed. Staff are amazing and go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: For my first all inclusive I thought it was done very well. The staff were excellant very accomodating and friendly. The room was clean and I had no problems with anything except the phone did not work, I reported it but nothing was done. overall it was a great holiday!

Look up I put it in the wrong section. Would very much like to go back but on the ground floor going up and down the flight of stairs was hard on the old knees. All and all it was a great vacation. Already looking forward to the next trip.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: NO!minican

Wow where do I start! This is a resort that I would never return too, nor would I ever recommend it to anyone. We arrived and were given an envelope with our room key, towel pass, and remote for the tv...We went into our room and were immediately disguised. The view was of an abandoned building, the bathroom was gross, dead bug on wall, fake nails under bed (I wished I never looked under the bed) exposed outlets, only one outlet worked...phone didn't work, and so on! SURPRISE...NO You need to pay for internet that they do not guarantee that it works everywhere, you also need to pay for a safe. So in the rain we went to the front desk (I must say that is also a joke, and they love saying NO) to inquire about changing our room, internet and the safe. Upon arrival we were told to come back in an hour so they can process the guests, so we did about 1 1/2 later and they still didn't want to help. So next day all over again with this process, with NO luck. Emailed Tripcentral (but I never got a response, they emailed the girl I was travelling with?) I sent a text to tripassist, and was told a representative would get in touch with me, and nothing. Went to Transat rep on site on three separate occasions and he was less than helpfull, and said we should talk to John the Front Desk Manager...And he was the rudest person that didn't care what we wanted, he just wanted us to give him more money!!!. The person I was travelling with sent an email to tripcentral and was responded too by our rep... Finally the Transat rep changed and we had the regular one who listened and said that he would go talk to John at the front desk. On the third day after wasting so much of our vacation we finally got a renovated room! Much better but does not make up for the vacation from hell, no apologies, no lets make it up to you and send you on an excursion or anything. So the staff...The nicest people we meet were part of the entertainment (Think that was because they wanted us to order them drinks at the bar and give to them) I asked for mojito - NO A glass for my Martini - NO (they were disgusting..FYI) A bottle of water at the bar - NO - you need to drink water that is in a large container! Buffet was Meh, no flavor, ,meals are always the same..Not very good We were not allowed to swim in the Ocean due to the yellow, and red flags up (the whole trip!) The staff is rude, not helpful, and you need to get your own drinks at the buffet if you want one before your meal is done. This is not a 3.5 star at all! Don't get me wrong the views can be beautiful, but this not a vacation spot! Oh and what was beyond acceptable was the staff when not working hanging out in the pools and bars (and usually get served first) And lots of locals walking in and out of the resort! Disappointed and blown away by an overall horrible vacation We went into town daily to get free wifi at restaurants, and have edible food with some flavor.

First impression arriving at night was beautiful! Grounds are well kept. Extremely friendly staff. Poor room maintenance, switched twice, blood&snot on walls & mirrors, hair on floor. Peanut allergy not taken seriously at Thai fusion a la carte restaurant. Went to the restaurant earlier in the day to inform of my allergy, and was told exactly what dish to stay away from. We ordered an appetizer platter w spring rolls, calamari etc, a few bites in our server( one of the staff members we spoke to  [... read more]that afternoon) informs us that the chicken on the plate has a peanut sauce, which was almost touching the spring rolls!!!! We had to explain that it should not even be on the same plate!!! We left and spoke to the general manager of the resort the next morning. She was very sympathetic, and gave us a letter stating we will be getting 20%refund on our vacation for this issue and the room issues from air transat! The resort also gave us a couples massage and a 5 coarse romantic lobster dinner in the beach.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: So relaxing

Very clean resort, always something to eat and drink and the staff were very friendly. Never saw an bugs or sand fleas people complained about. Rooms spotless, beds a little hard and mini bar stocked with pop,water,beer and chips. Beach not bad but the water was too rough this time so we stayed at the smaller pool near the spa. We will be back!

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Beautiful Land - Terrible Service

The landscape of this resort is absolutely stunning. However, that is dulled once you start having to deal with the resort personnel. A majority of the staff was rude, condescending and arrogant. Our housekeepers were nice, but not quick, sometimes not even having our beds made despite our generous gifts & tips. Most of the front desk staff, especially the "Rooms Manager" John, were rude. Our room was disgusting, dead bugs on the wall, lots of mold & mildew in the bathroom, exposed electric [... read more]al outlets, fake finger nails under the bed, no security. When we asked to change rooms, it took 2 days of phone calls and follow ups with our Air Transat rep and travel agent to deal with the hotel manager, who finally gave in and gave us a renovated room. The bar staff again, was not friendly, despite the generous tips. The young staff live on the resort & are allowed to have friends come in so there is a lot of younger people hanging out at the bars & taking over the pools. Overall, a disappointing vacation. If you book here, make sure you know exactly what you are getting for your money, since John's famous line was "you got what you paid for!".

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Good value and would go back

Grounds were well kept, rooms a lil dated but clean.As the week went on you dont really notice the room anyways as long as the beds are comfortable and you have clean towels. Only ate at the buffet which was good, just over the weekend at the omelette station they seem to be short on onions,green peppers,cheese to add. On our last day they only had one bartender at pool and snackbar bars which created line ups. Resort isnt too big with just enough walking for excercise and doesnt take to [... read more]o long to go from lobby to beach.Place seems to grow on you as week went by and another couple said the same to us.Staff were all good just sometimes could of used more in buffet for breakfast as had to wait for a coffee a few times. Only negative thing were theses vacation club people in tan outfits and white hats hanging around outside buffet area.Dont make eye contact and brush them off or they will waste your time wanting to go see another resort at Corfresi other side of Puerto Plata for the day.Towards end of the day some beach areas seemed a lil dirty partly from lazy guests and sometimes just washed up. Overall would go back again for the price .

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Ok resort.

I thought it was ok. Not a four star. Maybe three. Rooms were in need of repair. Phone service was very poor. Staff lacked social skills towards clients at times.Attitude towards some of the issues. I.e. noise, smoking in rooms etc seemed very unstructured and lacking in true concern. Entertainment lacked sensivity towards females.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Wonderful Resort!!

This is a small resort that does not disappoint! The food was very good at all locations, the buffet, a la cartes and the beach grill. The beach was very clean and the staff were always raking, the only negative comment about the ocean was that the coral is starting to take over the beach which could be a problem in coming years. The rooms were exceptionally clean, as was the rest of the resort, it was actually quite impressive. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Good resort, bad agent

People at Gran Ventanda were wonderful (my 3rd visit). Unfortunately they were not notified of a couple of requests. I cannot walk very far. We wanted a room close to the bldg entrance, ground level, facing the pools. We arrived, they did not know I was a returning guest, the room was at the end of a long hallway facing a fence. The next day management moved us to a fabulous room. They were very accommodating.

The grounds were well kept and the help were very helpful The food at the buffet was good but the a' la carte restaurants we did not like The room was a garden view room on the first floor We were unable to get the room we ordered ocean view on first floor so they give us the room facing pool witch we where happy with

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Fun week in the D.R.

Great week at Blue Bay Villas. The grounds are well groomed. The public areas and washrooms were clean. Lots of lounge chairs at the beach, not so much at the pool. The food at the buffet and the a la cartes was varied and plentiful. The best part was the staff, friendly, attentive, excellent service. The entertainment was lively and fun. One minor problem was the safe in my room didn't close and the promised replacement never materialized, but overall my 7 friends and I had a fun week.
