Sanctuary White Sands: Amazing Resort!!!

This hotel is beautiful! There are a few things they have to fix but it’s brand new so it’s expected to run into some issues. Overall everything was wonderful? the sports bar bartender Chino made amazing Spanish coffee. The pool attentants are amazing. The whole staff goes out of their way to try and please you. The pool, lobby, rooms and the beach is one of the best I’ve seen in Cuba. We will definitely be going back?

Blau Varadero: Definitely try elsewhere

First off, this is my 8th time to Cuba. We know what to expect, we understand the food and drinks and have never complained until now. To say there are "shortages" would be an extreme understatement. We visited other resorts and had friends at others in Varadero while we were there and they had very few things missing (mostly TP and tequila). We had no pop 6 out of the 7 days, no vodka, rye or tequila the entire trip, and the last day and a half no rum! We only had dark rum earlier in the week, never had white rum the entire trip. We paid for select service which gave us the chill out bar, and that was the only place the drinks were decent enough the drink but only in the evenings and during dinner so not much time there. The food, well again, we are not picky, been to Cuba many times and yet this was horrifying. I'm not sure if the resort or people involved are paying for reviews, but we booked here due to the good reviews, and this is far from the truth! Again, a party of 4, we are simple eaters and have been to Cuba many many times with no issue. The food was absolutely terrible. I can't believe we paid what we did for this resort and we are not happy. No drinks, no juice, no pop and not much for food. Buffet was really bad, although the bread was good. Same food reused from breakfast through dinner and not at the correct temperatures. No pizza, fries, or simple food you normally get. Raw chicken, NO fresh fish other than a black fish with so many bones you wouldn't be able to eat it. For 2 days they actually served the TAIL of the fish, not even the actual fish (gross). We didn't have hotdogs or burgers as they stated and we went many times to the "24 hour snack bar" and it was not serving any food at all. The coffee bar was the best part of the resort, friendly staff and great coffee. Definitely not worth all the money paid to go though. Sunwing has options listed that you get for select and they aren't even accurate and when the rep spoke with the desk, they said no and that they have told Sunwing to change the listing many times so not helpful to us. To say we are disappointed is an extreme understatement. Definitely got rooked, would say more but at the end of the day, buyer beware and stay away! Go to Paridusus or Royalton right down the road, beautiful, no shortages and amazing food.

Playa Pesquero: Amazing hotel!

Nadejda and Valeri We stayed for 2 weeks in April. This is our third trip to this hotel. I would like to thank everyone who works at this hotel, it feels like coming home. Our special thanks to housekeeper Pula: she decorated the bed for my birthday in such a way that I shed tears/building 58/ We spent all 2 weeks perfectly: wonderful service, beautiful weather, amazing ocean. There were not always eggs, but without them we could choose pancakes, pasta... Thanks to the people working at the hotel, we know how difficult it is for food in Cuba now, it’s difficult to feed families, but we believe that everything will be fine after some time. After all, difficult times always pass. April 3-17.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Very bad

We did not check in on time, they made us wait for 2 hours,room was not what we asked, no clean bedsheets/towels, no toilet paper, room lock cards did not work at all times. The staff at the hotel was rude, did not want to cooperate at all.

Playa Pesquero: Impressive and welcoming

I found the resort to exceed my expectations! The cleanliness and character was impressive. The staff was beyond helpful and friendly! The pool and beach were perfection! I have only one criticism. The children’s program in the evenings was extremely loud and should begin and end earlier. Many times my group were having conversation and the volume made it difficult.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Selection Iberostar Holguin

This hotel is well maintained, clean, and modern. The staff was polite and helpful. Shoutout to the trolly drivers and the kids club workers, they were amazing. The pools and kids area were great, always lots of chairs and places to sit. The ocean was nice and clean no seaweed. Unfortunately due to shortages in Cuba the food was a major issue. There was plenty of food but not many options. Pasta, for supper and lunch everyday, rice and fish also. Not much meat, no eggs. Only watermelon for fruit [... read more] and cucumbers and tomato for veggies. By day 7 eating was a chore and not very pleasant. The snack bar ran out of everything and were serving weiners on pineapple. This wasn't the fault of the hotel of course, it really showcased the state Cuba is in with shortages. Bring salt, ketchup, and any condiments you may enjoy. The only suggestion I have for the hotel would be the entertainment. It is a very quiet hotel, the pool entertainment was water Zumba, night entertainment was the same every night, no beach party or anything like that. Overall I would say 6/10 due to food shortages and lack of entertainment.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great staff

Really impressed with resort. Very clean and well maintained Staff constantly cleaning. Friendly service and helpful staff. Interesting games and shows. Wifi could be improved. Given the fact that this amazing country has very little food etc. The menu is always plentiful and fresh.

Sol Palmeras: Sol Palmeras

We are so glad to spend our vacation in Sol palmeras. The hotel was kept nice and clean every single day the service was excellent the food was good and nice the area was nice and quiet the beach was clean water wonderful. Thank you for everything we can't wait to come back.

Barcelo Solymar: Not good

Food not good. I ate out almost every day. Same food for lunch and dinner every day. Pork in everything . I don’t eat pork. Even vegetables had pork. No snack bar. Rooms not clean and hard to get towels. Staff in restuarant on cell phone. Hard to get service even after tip

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Cayo Cruz

Just back rom 2 weeks at the Iberostar Coral adult only resort. Beach was much less wide than expected at high tide. Photos from the resort were taken at low tide. When low tide nice to walk. Unfortunately during our stay there was a lot of wind which brought in weeds which the resort was very slow to clean up. The palapas are very close together with 4 to a palapa so if you are just 2 it isn't private at all. As we are both swimmers the long 8 foot wide section connecting the buildings and 2 larger pools is perfect for doing lengths without bothering anybody. Water was crystal clear and zero garbage around. As the resort is fairly new the foliage is in the majority not yet mature but the gardeners do a great job keeping it nice and cleaned. Ate once at a restaurant but as we hate following a schedule on holidays we didn't repeat it. The buffet always had lots of food and the chefs did a good job in trying to change things up with what they had to work with. Have been to Cuba over 25 times so I know not to be a picky eater. The lobby bar was well stocked with more choice than the snack bar bar. The beach bar has no ice, never, go figure? No footwashing station when you come up from the beach and if you don't like wearing your sandals with lots of sand it is a long hot walk to the nearest station. Very little entertainment and no blaring music so we slept great. Bed very comfortable and bathroom nice and clean. Drive from airport longer than expected. 2 hours minimum. All in all we would go back.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Beautiful Resort

This was our eighth time visiting this resort, we were there from April 3 - 17th. Our room was nice and remodelled with a beautiful shower and the air conditioning worked very well. Food was good with only a few days without bread and eggs, we had fresh fruit every day. Every Friday is Cuban day, they roasted a pig and served it later in the afternoon. Playa Pesquero: Great beach for sunning & walking

Cuba's greatest asset is its people, always smiling & friendly even with language limitations. Lots of places to eat but similar food choices at all locations. Even with some food shortages, impossible to go hungry... I gained 7lbs in 1 week. Room was large but no water view.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Fantastic week at Tryp!

We had an excellent week at Tryp! This was our first time to Cuba and we definitely will be back. The staff at Tryp were wonderful and welcoming. The beach is beautiful with white sand and turquoise waters. Rooms were clean, staff was very attentive. The resort is in the process of renovation, lots of improvements happening. Can't wait to see it finished. We had plenty of food and drinks never ran out of anything. Overall great experience!!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Peaceful & Good Value for the Money

Just returned from two weeks at the Aston Costa Verde as a solo traveller. The Aston is good value for the money and I would return. However, it is not for everyone. The resort is very spread out but I enjoyed the walking necessary to get around the resort. The grounds are well kept and the walkways are in good shape but you might want to have a small flashlight for safety at night as they are not well lit. Yes, it was somewhat repetitious but plentiful until the last two days when supplies seemed to get short. The shortages are unpredictable and may account for the wide variety of opinions expressed about the food in other reviews. I recommend the Club option. I enjoyed the newer building away from the noise of the activities and also the quiet, air conditioned Cigar Bar most evenings before dinner. I ate at the Club restaurant a few time. It has a nice relaxing atmosphere and great service. However, the menu doesn’t change and I found more selection and variety at the buffet.  The only disappointed people I met seemed to have very unreal expectations. They had purchased a Chevy and seemed to expect a Cadillac.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: A great vacation

Had a great stay. Staff were always greeting us and helpful. Very clean and well kept. Pools were always clean and maintained. Kids area was top notch. The ladies in the kids area had a great focus on the children. As did the lifeguards. Cleaning staff kept our room clean and we always had water every day. Top stars to all the staff and managers that work hard to keep the guests happy. As has been said about all of Cuba about the food. Yes the choices are limited. This isn't the staffs fault. Valentin Perla Blanca: Cuban Paradise

This hotel was very well kept.. rooms were clean and had no issues getting water daily and our room always had toilet paper! Food was decent, very repetitive, but did not go hungry ever. All the workers went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. The beach was stunning, spent several days enjoying the beauty.

Melia Varadero: Amazing resort

The resort was great clean and well kept. There was plenty of food and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The weather was superb. Was great having the mall right next to resort and shorter from the beach little waves but water was so clear. I definitely would recommend and return.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Amazing Resort !

Kim and I arrive at the Sanctuary at Grand Memories on April 8th . We spent a week at this resort also last year in May for a week ! My husband and I love this resort . We love the staff they are so accommodating ! Our butler Was very sweet and kind ! All the staff go out of their way to help you ! I would definitely recommend this hotel ! Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Beautiful beach!

The beaches were beautiful!! Ensenachos beach is a must! The room was clean but some amenities such as toilet paper were in short supply (I suggest you bring some). There were some food supply issues some days but we ate at the a la Cartes and the fresh cooked food at the buffet. I would go back to this resort!
