Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Average hotel

The hotel seems to be old and in my opinion requires improvements. For example: Closing rooms door from outside require slamming the door which creates a lot of noise. Room Cupboard are not closing properly. Some food in the kitchen is over cooked, especially chicken. It is basically impossible to eat. The good think is the staff. Always friendly and happy to help.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Love the beach

The staff and the beach are amazing. Hotel doubled in size. Want to attract a younger clientele. Loud music too late at night. A timeshare is pushed way too much. No, We won't go back for a 4th time.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Small, Adult Only Until May

This is a small, well appointed resort. It is clean and well maintained. The rooms are spacious, but are lacking in drawer space and could benefit from more hooks to hang towels and bathing suits on. If you use facecloths, bring your own, they do not provide them. Likewise with Kleenex. The pool is in full sun until mid afternoon and the beach is beautiful! The food is quite good and the specialty restaurants do not require reservations and open at 6:00 pm. Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Ok resort

Resort is nice very nice gardens and clean. Always pool towels available. Service at the buffet is awful tipping doesn’t help. Communicating in English is a challenge esp at the buffet. Bar staff was nice and friendly and knew us well. A la carts don’t need to be booked they are first come first serve. Service was ok but was a long wait after being seated. Went to the Mediterranean one twice, first time was there for 2 hours second time 1.5 but the wine still flowed (and they had the best [... read more] wine) . Pool is very nice.always chairs available Beach is very shady lots of palm trees. I like to sit in the sun at the beach and this was hard to do, also a slope to the water. Always lots of chairs around. Food was ok the pizza at the snack bar is always good. 20 min drive through the mountains to the resort. No other resorts in site so nobody selling on the beach. Apparently the is a shack around the tip on the left side that had great seafood. Overall nice place but I don’t think I will return.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Scenic Resort

This is easy to navigate small adult resort. The views are spectacular and the beach is beautiful. The staff are friendly. We had a vibe room with a little pool and probably had the best one in the resort for getting the most sun for the day 3107. We were there the first week of February. The room had water in the mini fridge and some coffee and sugar for the espresso machine. No beer, soft drinks or snacks. Seemed very hard to get any cans of beer. The king bed was very well used on one side an [... read more]d needs to be replaced. We had these tiny ant like bugs in the room on table under the tv. I noticed them on the buns at that buffet as well. We only ate at the buffet. The wait time on getting a meal in the evening restaurants was a long time at one.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Beautiful Property but Over Priced

Beautiful relaxing property but dramatically understaffed and very overpriced for what you get. Food is ok but nothing special and very repetitive. Organization is lacking and no information boards with schedules of activities posted anywhere. Discounts offered with Air Canada packages for spa etc were not honoured because we didn’t ask for them upon arrival. Beach is beautiful and goes for miles. No swim up bar makes it difficult to get a drink when lounging around the pool. Overall we made it count and enjoyed our week but we have received far more from 5 star resorts at both Jamaica and Mexico for a lot less money in recent years. This place should not be charging much over $1300 Canadian. The staff work hard and try their best but understaffed and unorganized.

7 days at Viva Wyndham V Heavens went by very fast. This was a very refreshing, relaxing and very calm vacation. I felt mentally recharged and rested at the end of it The weather cooperated and we felt our timing was right. The hotel is clean and the outside of the hotel is very well maintained. There were no Covid restrictions on us but some staff were wearing masks. And the staff were visible, friendly, very responsive and helpful. Maria at the front desk was exceptionally patient  [... read more]and efficient in assisting us with addressing any issues we had. Thank you, Maria. Most of our minor requests were resolved immediately. The staff are well-trained and work in coordination with each other! The room was kept clean and the facilities outside were clean as well. The five restaurants served freshly prepared meals and the taste was almost always to our liking. And the nature: the beach, the sand, the sun - amazing!! All in all, the time in the resort was spent very well. Very good value for the money!!

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: A True Dominican Gem!

This is a relatively small hotel. It is for now an all adult resort. It is to change shortly into a family hotel, unfortunately. It is in the Playa Dorada area which is a wonderful gated community comprised of several other resorts and private residences. It is very safe, well maintained and ultra clean. As an all adult resort it is peaceful and tranquil except for the loud dance music at night which is to be expected and part of the fun. The staff, without exception, is outstanding. From Kelvis [... read more] at the front reception, to Omer at the poolside bar to Rosanna at the Italian Restaurant on the beach they were all gracious, eager to assist and performed their duties with sincere smiles. The food was a pleasant surprise. I visited all five restaurants and found the food to be of high quality. It was abundant, diverse, fresh, well prepared and well presented. The only downside was that the food often was served lukewarm even after asking for it to be served hot. It appears that the kitchens do not have heating salamanders to keep food hot. Management please note! The facitilies and services were most satisfactory. The grounds were very clean and there was an abundance of chairs and recliners both poolside and at the beach. The beach was sandy, cleansed of sea grasses every day and perfect for long walks. The entertainment staff were brilliant with their presentations of games, dancing, singing and evening shows. A truly delightful resort.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Amazing Resort

The resort was small but cozy and very friendly and we loved it. The rooms were spotless and service was excellent. What we liked about this resort is that every room had an Oceanview and the recent restorations were done with class. Each room had balconies with glass railings and did not obstruct any view of the grounds or ocean. The grounds were green and lush. The food was excellent and catered to all international tourists. The beach was excellent and clean and we loved the fact that you  [... read more]could walk for unlimited distance without any fear. We had no problem getting beach chairs there were plenty of them. Beach towels were at our disposal with no limits. The staff was very friendly and accommodating throughout the resort.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Perfect size resort!

The grounds are very beautifully kept.The beds are very comfortable.We enjoyed the Cirque de Soleil and the 70&80's show.The food at the breakfast buffet could have been warmer,but that problem was solved once I discovered the omelette station would make you a fried egg and also had bacon.The cappuccinos were very good.We really enjoyed the Fusion restaurant.The salmon and risotto was delicious.House wines were also good.The Mediterranean restaurant was hit or miss depending on what you ordered [... read more].The beach although beautiful,was slanted which was a bit of an issue for a less abled body.The disco was far too loud to enjoy inside.Almost every person employed there was friendly and acknowledged your presence.The front desk workers were very helpful!

Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham: Beautiful!

This is a great resort! People are friendly, food is good, lots of a la carte restaurant to choose from. The beach is spectacular with good snorkeling. Personally a better wine list would have been a bonus.

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Please don’t waste your vacation at this resort.

This resort is absolutely a nightmare! They have no room service, the food is so bad. The minute you walk into the buffet it smells. They don’t have much of a selection and the staff doesn’t seem to care to help with anything. I have been to Mexico many times and this was by far the worst resort I have ever stayed at.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Great vacation spot!

It was our first Adult only resort in DR and we weren't disappointed. Perfect location beautiful grounds always maintained and clean. It was great that we didn't need to hunt for beach towels you can just grab them near the pool and drop them to the same place. And there are always plenty of them . We stayed in bungalow highly recommended if you want privacy and quite place. The customer service is great whenever we had small issues they were addressed fast and always with the smile . Spent 7 relaxing days at this beautiful resort. The staff were amazing, food was great, rooms were clean! Beautiful beach walks every morning. Definitely recommended. Hoping to return before it turns into a family resort :)

This is a good hotel for 1st time vacations. If you have need tob4 and 5 stars, you will see how they fit as a 3 star. Main buffet needs a better selection of daily meals. There are theme nights but a few different selections. My room and cleamers were awesome. Bar staff 3.5 out if 5. Best drink is called "Rivere Maya." Staff all over were 4 out of 5. Beach was good. Best beach is to the right near the Sandos through the rocks called EmmaCove. Priceless. I did the calculations and with 3 trips a year and buying the flights. You average $3800 to $4600 per. Ouch....

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Nice resort

The hotel is older but very clean. Rooms are nice, grounds are beautiful and well kept. It’s a small resort with ramps so if you have mobility issues it’s a very good resort for getting around. Beach and ocean is terrific, very warm waters and extremely clean and very well managed. The down fall to this resort IMO is the buffet food. Two soups every night. The do have pork and fish. But no roasts beefs, or premium meats. etc. Seems the chefs food budget is not very large for the buffet. Bacon is hidden under the flat top so you have to ask for it at the egg station if available. They have a terrific snack bar, by the main pool. Salads pastas, terrific pizzas, cheese burgers, chilli Mexican food. Again super clean. They leave you two water bottles, but have refilling stations all over the place and in the entrance to your rooms. We brought down a hydrometer to test the alcohol content of the beer on tap. It’s only 2.5%. The sports bar has better beer and its 4.5% on tap with Heineken The staff is very friendly. Coffee and pastry bars. All sorts of activities they even have a trapeze for those that dare to have fun. Over all it’s a above a basic resort.‘I would return as it’s very cost effective, and beautiful . I have it an overall 4 but the resort should be a 3.5 star. Mostly because of the lack of different proteins, most resorts have food theme nights with a chef carving stations. His one doesn’t but it’s cost effective for a great vacation.

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Viva Wyndham Maya, Playacar

This hotel exceeded our expectations. Beach was beautiful, main pool was decent but the Adults Only Pool was a treat. Food was very good as were drinks. Rooms were clean and fresh for us daily. Highly recommend for a small resort for sun and relax. Thanks Susan for booking for us. Ground floor would be my choice as bigger balcony. Ours was small!!!

I love everything about our vacation in Viva Wyndham Maya. The food, the resort, the beach. It’s awesome and would love to come back. I was skeptical at first reading bad reviews I’m glad I found this resort thru Trip Central.

The resort is gorgeous, the setting perfect....right on the beach, lovely pool, restaurants and great for kids. These are the issues I had.... 1. we could only find 1 English channel on TV....Fox news...that's it.... we called reception multiple times and they kept telling us which channels were in English...but they were not....then we were not able to get Netflix.... they ended up giving us a new TV.... but it was never programmed to use netflix...I was with my 80 year old mother and sh [... read more]e really wanted to watch TV, so it was a problem. 2. The food really was not great, did not seem 4 star to me and I'm not a fussy eater. The Italian restaurant in my opinion had the best food. The day I arrived I asked to be booked at each restaurant, turns out I was only booked at 3 out of the 6....then it was too late to get in. 3. They really need an English speaking person at reception at all times....it made communication very difficult. 4. Our toilet was blocked for 3 days and the room smelled really bad. I asked many times.... 5. I was told that there was a doc on site, but I had to pay $120 for them to call a doctor for my mother, had the person at reception understood, they could have explained. 6. There is a list of activities, I downloaded the app...but it does not tell you where to go to par take in the activities. 7. The floors must be cleaned with bleach, I threw my dirty clothes on the floor in the corner of the room and one of my dresses is completely ruined as it is marked with bleach stains The good things... 1. Great entertainment 2. Beautiful location 3. Very close to shops 4. Close walk to 4th Avenue

The resort is a mixed bag: Food is good, but lacks variety I expected for the rating Very Clean Booze was disappointing both in terms of quality and selection. Entertainment was not as good as I expected. There was no “viva” vibe People nice and courteous.
