Fantastic resort!

A group of 15 ranging in age from 20 to 61 stayed in April 2016 and everyone loved the resort. The grounds are beautiful, the staff is fantastic and the food is delicious. The drinks are great too. There are several pools, some quiet and some with music and activities. There's plenty of loungers and shady spots both at the pool and on the beach. Very nice. Very big. Very Busy.

If you like big spanding resorts with lots of nice things to look at, this is for you. If you want a more personal experience with attentive service not so much. Not enough staff to handle the demand. For the most part everyone is friendly but too busy. Beach is narrow and on an incline but clean and nice enough. Tough to enter the water in many areas. Pools are all nice. So busy we could only get very very late dinner reservations. Its like a small city here. Mediocre at Best

Upon check in toilet was not working in room - called front desk to send someone, waited 20 minutes and no one came. Called back and it sounded like they hadn't sent anybody in the first place. Waited another 30 minutes and no one came. Fixed it myself. Purchased a lock for the safe from the front desk, waited 15 minutes for shuttle back to room to find out that it would not insert into the safe properly. Called front desk to send someone to check out the problem. Finally he came within 10 minu [... read more]tes only to tell us that reception gave us the wrong key for the lock. Called back, asked them to send someone to bring a new lock and key as we had traveled back and forth many times already. They said we had to come back to pick a new one up. Traveled all the way back once again. Later that night we went out for a few hours and came back to a massive puddle in our front hallway, almost slipped and injured ourselves. Called front desk once again and they sent someone over after 30 minutes or so. A pipe was leaking in our ceiling apparently and it had flooded the front hallway. Purchased an hour of non consecutive use wifi from the gift shop through Kubi wireless for $8USD. I was very adamant about logging off completely after each use so as to not accidentally stay logged on and use up the wifi. I made a note of how much time I had left after the end of each session and when I logged back on hours later time had been deducted without my use. When I had about 10 minutes left it cut me off after about 7. Called Kubi from the front desk and he insisted I used the full hour and accused me of not logging off properly after each use. Waited on hold for a total of about 25 minutes. He recited off the blocks of time he claimed I used according to his records. The first time he said "I can see here 10, 10, 5, 5, 8." When I responded saying that did not add up to 60 minutes he cut me off and said "no here it says 20, 20, 20, 8." (Which, again, doesn't add up to 60 minutes haha). The reason I was so distressed by this was because I needed wifi to check my emails since I was organizing scuba diving training with a local instructor. Not as much the resorts fault but they chose to pair with this wireless service. I've used Boingo before which is much, much better. Spoken to their customer service reps for login problems and had no issues resolving it. Will not be coming back here. I've stayed in cheap, sketchy looking hostels for $7CAD a night and received much better customer service and had significantly less problems. Only thing that drove me to write this was the time wasted attempting to deal with these issues. I don't care about a broken toilet or safe but waiting around for hours to get it fixed after spending a couple hundred dollars a night for this resort is extremely frustrating. I also really did not feel as though the staff cared about our complaints; we felt very overlooked.

Very nice resort

Went to a wedding and it was amazing. The hotel staff are nice and the maids are very good and helpfull. Beaches are nice but there is some rockey parts and the pool with the swim up bar has some fun activities.

Great resort

This resort is HUGE, The people are great and the place is very clean. There is lots large selection for food at the buffet and I can honestly say it was all great! We had no complaint at this resort and I go on a vacation like this every year.

Great Resort

Clean, the staff pampered us the entire vacation. The food was really good also and served organized and clean and promptly. Anytime we needed extra waters or snacks we had no problem receiving at our hotel. Lots of entertainment every night. Poolside bar...Beautiful resort!!!! The beach however at our side of the resort was rocky so I would suggest water shoes.. But if you walk down a bit the beach was outstanding--pure white sand, clean. Great resort

Highly recommend. Buffet was awesome, something for everyone. A la carte restaurants are even better. The rooms are nicely kept and modern. Beach and grounds very nice. Stayed for 2 weeks and would do so again.

Very wide-spread resort.

The hotel is "dated". We had booked two adjoining rooms as we were travelling with a 22 month old baby. Both rooms ran out of hot water a couple of times during our stay. The food at this resort, compared to that during our stay at the Bahia Principe in Runway Bay in Jamaica, was not as good.

Great resort with just one concern

Hotel grounds were beautiful, food was great, service as great. Our kne concern was a moody/musty smell in our room. We should have asked for a different room. If you get room 2413 be prepared, don't put up with it. All our belongings smelled like it by the end of the week.

Lovely resort a few drawbacks

This is a beautiful, well maintained resort. The food was excellent, loved the Mexican restaurant. Hated the trek across the lobby with the time share sharks waiting to make eye contact. We weren't impressed with the beach, nor the large seaweed burying ground. And we found the wine (both red and white) undrinkable - smelled like Koolaid, tasted like fermented Koolaid, and was served out of a glass pitcher - appears there is a large vat somewhere. Staff were friendly but not warm.

One of the best resorts around!

Took my Beautiful Girlfriend to Bahia Principe Tulum and had a fantastic trip! Room was clean, staff were great, food was fantastic, resort is amazing! time of our lives! I recommend to anyone, just watch the timeshare people!

Loved it! would go to again.

we went with 2 families. they put us in adjoining rooms. Resort was very clean. Food was good. Service was great. Ocean was perfect for kids and good snorkeling. Saw everything from lion fish to nurse sharks. Loved it.

Everything lovely

Booked hotel with trip central and everything went smoothly. We had a direct flight, were met at airport by professional staff. Hotel nice, beach clean and beautiful. Tours were well organized. Would be nice if à la carte restaurants reservations were more plentiful.

Loved it!

My husband and I went with two other couples. The resort was very accommodating in keeping us close together which we appreciated. The staff were all so friendly, the grounds are sooo beautiful!! We enjoyed the food (lots of selection at the buffets), I tend to find what I like and stick to it. The Brazilian a la carte is wonderful and a must, we unfortunately missed our Japanese a la carte (had the times mixed up) and couldn't squeeze in at any other time. Exceeded my expectations

This was our first time to Mexico, we have always gone to Punta Cana, the resort was beautiful and clean, as were the grounds, the beach and pools were nice and clean and no crazy sea weed along the beach. Our room had a beautiful view of the ocean and the staff and food were amazing as well ( I think I gained a few pounds lol) we went as three couples and not one of us could complain. Outstanding Resort

I have no idea why some of the reviews are so full of complaints. We had a wonderful time at this resort and would definitely return. The staff couldn't do enough for us, the maids did an excellent job cleaning our room and providing fresh towels even when we didn't ask. The waiters in the buffet were in constant attendance to our every need. Amazing swimming pools, one with a swim up bar.The beach was beautiful, but did have some rocky area's, but could be avoided. We never had no problem getti [... read more]ng a sheltered spot under a beach hut, which is very much needed as the sun is extremely strong. Tennis courts and multipurpose courts were easily accessible. Food was great, with chefs cooking fresh for you upon request-even in the buffet restaurant! No matter whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner we always found something we enjoyed. In fact, we preferred this to the a la carte restaurants. The grounds were immaculate, and always being maintained and cleaned. Can't wait to return!!!

Pros and Cons

We had an enjoyable stay at Bahia Principe Tulum. There was a great selection of food in the Buffet, the animals roaming the grounds were delightful, the hotel staff were accommodating - we lost our umbrella and they got us another one; there was a leak in the ceiling above the toilet and they quickly came to repair it - and they were quick to call taxis. The service to and from the Resort from the Airport was also very quick and well done. If however, you are expecting someone to come up to you [... read more]r chair on the beach and ask "May I get something for you from the bar?" that never happened as had been my experience on a previous trip to Cancun. Also we found the hours of the breakfast buffet limited. We arrived for breakfast at 10:25 am only to be told breakfast was over and lunch would start only at 12:30 pm. We then went to the Snack Bar, at which time they were putting out trays of food, but we were told we couldn't have any of it until noon. Overall the experience was good but we will try another resort if we go again.

Beautiful resort

We have enjoyed our vacation. We would recommend it to anyone. When picking this resort please take in mind that beach has lots of stones. I have hurt my back on numerous occasions. We did not about it before coming so we did not bring any special protection. Food was amazing. Staff were super nice and very friendly. Other than that it was perfect.

Great resort

great place .good food and its huge..seaweed problem but cant be helped .friendly staff and great service.sol beer on draught and taquila is help yourself .theres carts always on the go to give you a ride but 8 times out of ten they were always going in other direction.one and a half hour bus ride from airport but nice bus and they sell beer on it .....enjoy

Wonderful trip

Fantastic hotel, nice beach, good food, a real 5 stars ! We were 6 adults, everyone enjoy his vacation. We book for the trip at Tulum, short drive from the hotel and staff very friendly. We also dive in the Cenotes. A "must see" !
