Great time

The rooms were nice, and the ground was always clean and neat. The service is good, but the only thing I noticed, not all the food is tagged to say what it was.. Lots of people don't eat all the different foods. The entertainment was amazing.

Good resort - better with royal service

Food at the Royal Service exclusive restaurant was a lot better than the rest. Highly recommend paying a bit more for the royal service. In general the service is very nice everywhere. The main lounge was usually very packed at night during my stay. Depending if you are a social person, you may like/dislike it. There are quieter (but smaller) lounge in the royal service area as well. The beach and pool was nice and clean.

Best beach and pool anywhere....

You can't beat a resort with its own private deep beach, on its own very wide bay. outstanding sea views from anywhere and many oceanview rooms available; something other resorts which are built behind mangroves can't boast. Also the nicest landscaped, meandering pool anywhere. Terrific staff, decent food, comfortable and clean rooms. True 'on the beach' (and in the sand) lunch spot with live music.

Excellent Resort, Melia does it again...

We traveled to Cuba for the first time April 5-12 2014 and stayed at the Paradisus Varadero Resort. The resort was recommended to us by travel agent @ Tripcentral.ca (Karol Chareza - who has always stirred us to awesome resorts). We were excited and had high expectations as we stayed at the Melia Resort in Punta Cana a few years ago and loved it - we were not disappointed! We especially want to thank Norsey and Yandl (our butlers) for making everything a touch above. A couple of points about the resort - what a beach, wow it was incredible, water and sand was great, you could walk for hours and always chairs and shade available when needed. Not once did we have to wait in a line, something I didn't realize until we got home :)! The rooms in the Royal Service were spacious very clean and the huge water jet tub and outdoor shower amazing. A big thank you to our house keeper (room 3334) very sweet and hard working. The bartender in Royal Service always with a smile and yummy coffee ready to roll for our early morning walk along the beach was wonderful. So all in all we were extremely happy and would highly recommend the Paradisus Varadero!!! Melia resorts are our Resort chain destination we always look for first when planning a vacation - we always come away with such great vacation memories!!! Thank you Karol, Paradisus and Melia Resorts, and thank you Cuba, the people and service outstanding.

Disappointing

The main pool was out of service due to scheduled renovations. This divided the resort and took away from the feel - when you look at pictures of this resort before booking all you see if the main pool and how beautiful it is. They gave us 'on resort coupons' for the inconvenience of the pool being out of service but they were pointless and weren't applicable to us (my girlfriend and I). The disco was never open and there weren't too many people on the resort, making it feel dead and boring. Ou [... read more]r room had cockroaches that were alarmingly big which were about 2 and a half inches big. We got upgraded to another room which also had roaches, each of which being the same size along with geckos. We saw bugs in our room every day. People say bugs are common in resorts but this is the first time I ever saw them in our room. Entertainment was nice, food was as expected for a Cuban resort. The a la carte restaurants were hit and miss. One restaurant had such slow service and unappetizing food, even the service was some what rude to us. Surprisingly the best food we had was at the snack bar, they make a good burger. Service on the resort was very good. Waiter/Waitresses, cooks, and bar tenders were always coming around to ask us for drinks or anything else that we needed at the time. They were helpful with our questions. The beach made up for the disappointment of the pool. As expected the beach was very beautiful and clean, we had lots of fun hanging out their all day. This was rated as a 5 star resort, it didn't feel like that at all.

Older structre, beautiful grounds/beach

Nicest beach in that area. Other nearby resorts are separated from the beach by a strip of vegetation (wood) therefore blocking the view to the beach. Great view from Paradisus even from inside lobby.

Great Resort Great Time

Very well kept resort,quiet, lots to do,perfect location, great staff very welcoming and helpful!Will recomend to friends and family. Would go back again anytime. Also great service from Sunwing Airlines and their staff!
