Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca 2018

We had a great time at the resort visiting with our Cuban friends. The weather was fantastic, beach was clean and the ocean was the perfect temperature. The taste of the salt water on my lips was a reminder of what I missed for 51 weeks of the year. I want to thank Rick Lockhart of Tripcentral for his great service.

Canadians are no longer welcome

On our arrival bus there were only four Canadians. During the two week stay there were eight buses from Pegisus filled with Russian tourists. They were loud, drunk by 9:00 am and yelled and screamed to 3:00 am. They were quite willing to pick a fight which Canadians as they made it known that we were unfair to their leader. We were staying in the bungalows like las time but on the third day they closed the area snack bar, pool bar and drained the pool for the remaining ten days of out trip. Mana [... read more]gement on hearing our complaint offered us a room overlooking the parking lot (a severe downgrade) for the same cost or moving to the villas for the regular upgrade price of $15.00 per day. We had paid $1.00 per day for a fridge at the bungalow which was included in the villas but no refund. The food in the dinning hall was significantly poor than the last three trips I had there & fresh fruit, orange juice (sometimes powdered) and liquor (whiskey) would run out during the day. on two day no ice for the drinks as the machine was broken. I felt we were nickeled and dimed by the management and the higher star rated Breses next door would have cost less. It's a shame because the staff are really great ( know a lot of them by first name) are getting less in tips by the management actions and new cliental.

Great value for price!

Rooms were clean, grounds were clean, pools were perfectly clear, staff was amazing! The beaches could use to have the seaweed picked up when it washes ashore but really great value for the price of it.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Another amazing trip. I love this resort Great people and amazing upgrades and more to come! New management and Fresh New ideas!!! Club Amigo is my place! Cant wait for my next visit in Jan 2019 Its a happening place!!

we love this place. the people are amazing and like part of our extended family! all the staff are more than helpful and accomodating. the down side for us is that a new manager has made some changes which to mus are not in the best interest of the staff or the guests. prime example is relocating the lobby bar to a hot,loud corner of the lobby which has no air circulation. not a good experience for anyone!

Not so good in August

Most breakfast lunch and dinner we had to wait in line to get to cafeteria just to learn they were short of dishes. Most of the good food disappears in moments. In the bars they were short of glasses and most of the ingredients to make a drink like bloody marry or even gin and tonic.

Great getaway!

I was first in a standard room, which I do not suggest unless you plan on only sleeping in the room. If you want to have an amazing room take a villa. After upgrading to a villa I was extremely impressed with this 3 star resort. Spectacular clean rooms, cleaned extensively daily, the kindest staff, and great food. I would definitely be coming back!

Great memories

Lots to pick from for food , always can find a nice glass of wine or a cool glass of beer , rooms were clean and refreshing , resort is a bit spread out but always enough close by to meet your needs . I’d upgrade from the beginning don’t waist your time doing it there . The ladies are wonderful but victor not so much .. I would go back just not tomorrow.. 😊

Good

resort was old and outdated. No fresh water left in the room. Parts of the resort were either closed or shut down for the season, very disappointing.Very slow service at the main pool bar. The lobby bar was great with great service but was so hot you couldn't stay, felt bad for the workers at this bar as there was NO air circulation.

Lovely hotels

If i have a chance ,i will come here again to enjoy the beach and the weather . Such a gentle staff and great hotels . Food is not bad ,but they need to change every week . Quiet and beautiful place to visit and enjoy

Good Resort

Good hotel with a lot of locals. A few bars, one open 24 hours, some staff are great others not so much. Not a lot of staff trying to get any sports going or anything like that, there was a couple things in the pool, but no volleyball in the water or anything like that. There was a bubble party in the pool so that was fun. All in all, I had a good time.

ALOT BETTER then I expected for a 3 star

It was ALOT better then I expected for a 3 star. In Cuba usually the food is ...... but I must say that for a picky eater my plates were always full, and eatable. I was also expecting the rooms to be so so. There again they got me, redone bathroom with hot water. Beds were hard. Stayed in the tropical section main hotel. Good

Yes grands public aria to much people dining room not to much food always miss the dishes but the worker is good people the bar and cafe bar is clean but close before 22h sink bar is ok but always one gays is work there and to much clint so for next time I chose memory’s hotel whit my Friend and Family

Amazing resort

People are friendly at the resort, felt comfortable when I stayed there. Room are clean, AC works well. Beautiful white sandy beach and enjoyed sailing. Keep your belongings with you cuz local people around. Food okay for 3 star. I may go back next year.

Maybe be on the way to 2*

having gone to this resort over 30 times,for the most part we have always been fairly pleased. this time however, we felt it to be lacking in several areas. first I should say that the staff are amazing as always, which probably has a large part in why we keep coming back here.in the main lobby you cannot get a glass or cup,only plastic. this is not really a great experience with hot coffee! the other bar in the lobby is where you can get a glass or cup but the location of this is terrible fo [... read more]r air flow(there is none!) ice was almost impossible to get anywhere at anytime as most of the machines on the resort were broken down.it is as though nothing is being repaired or maintained. the villas badly need attention as the paint is peeling and flaking off the walls. we are aware that this is a 3* resort and we do not expect more than that but certainly not less! perhaps a new manager with a different outlook as to the direction of this resort would benefit both staff and guest!! as an afterthought I would like to add that out of the four pools, not one was clear to see the bottom. all had vey murky water.

Would recommend

Overall, the complex was clean and well maintained. Hot water was not a problem and our room's a/c worked well. Buffet and speciality restaurants were up to Cuban standards. Nothing fancy and service was very good. Even had diet cola. All pools were maintained fairly well, but finding shade was a challenge. Awesome beach.

Tried it once, never again.

this hotel needs to be renovated quickly. rooms are presentable, but beds are so low a person who is elderly would not be able to get out off them, we were in Tropical and if we wanted a fridge we had to pay for it, unbelievable, had to get your own water in a pitcher, in bathroom no place to put toiliteries had to use top of toliet. and no face cloths, or shampoo, conditioner or body wash, food was the same everyday, believe some was from day before, they ran out of ice, pineapple juice, coffee [... read more] and even cups. pools and beach very nice, but as a non-smoker the amount of people smoking were more than not especially in the snack bars,

Great holiday!!

Just got back from club amigo. stayed for 12 days. this is our 4th time and will return next years same time. great resort for the money you pay. Food was terrific, with a great selection of whatever you like. Being a big resort they do run out of some things but are replaced promply. You get to mingle with the locals of guadalvarca who have access to the beach. Old resort but clean and well kept. The older part is at this time being renovated. There are 6 pools. WE REALLY ENJOY THIS RESORT

RIGHT NOW THIS RESORT IS GOING THROUGH SOME UPGRADES, AND FROM WHAT WE HAVE SEEN THINGS ARE LOOKING PRETTY GOOD. GROUNDS ARE CLEAN, ROOMS THAT HAVE BEEN UPDATED ARE LOOKING GOOD. STAFF ARE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL EVEN WHEN SOME OF THE TOURIST CAN BE NASTY AND SLOBS. BEACH IS CLEAN. THIS WAS OUR FOURTH YEAR, AND WE CAN HONESTLY SAY WE GO HOME WITH A SMILE. WE DO NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH THE FOOD, THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO EAT AND WE HAD SOME PRETTY AMAZING MEALS, BUT THERE AGAIN SOME PEOPLE A [... read more]RE VERY PICKY, AND NO MATTER WHAT, YOU WON'T BEABLE TO PLEASE THEM. WE FEEL VERY SAFE HERE.

Relaxing visit

Enjoyed our visit. Beach and pool areas attractive, room large and well maintained for an older resort. Enjoyed our dining experience and the coffee bars are a nice treat. Local area is clean and safe to wander.
