FANTASTIC RESORT - A DEFINITE MUST FOR A RETURN!

This was our first time in Paradisus Rio De Oro. We had a fantastic time. Divided our time between the pool and the gorgeous beach that had amazing snorkeling. The food was fantastic in both the buffet as well as the A la Carte restaurants. Japanese was our favorite. The grounds were immaculate and the workers in all areas of the resort were polite and very friendly. We are already planning on returning next year. Still the same great place

The staff people are still wonderful and friendly, the food varied and delicious, the site spacious and beautiful. After going for 5 years in a row we're looking forward to visiting again next year.

Another exceptional holiday at PRDO👍👍👍

As was the case in four previous holidays, this resort is exceptional in all aspects and most deserving of its 5 star rating. The accommodations along with chambermaid most pleasing and innovative. The food is excellent with excellent “special “ dining rooms and very extensive buffet. Beautiful resort

This is my fifth stay at this resort. Third time in royal service. I love this place. The grounds are wonderful and the staff are amazing. That being said, things were not quite up to par with previous visits. One of our favourite restaurants were closed which limited our food choices and there seemed to be a cut back in staff. Meals in Cuba are often inconsistant due to the lack of supplies but it seemed more so during this visit. I must admit that I will be following the reviews carefully next [... read more] year before deciding whether or not to return as this is one of the more expensive resorts in Cuba and consistantly good food with plenty of variety should be a given.

Wonderful resort

This was our 4th stay here and we have enjoyed the people and the wonderful family atmosphere. The food is excellent very clean pool. The dining room is very spacious and comfortable. Great entertainment. Plan on coming back next year.

Best resort in Cuba

The first thing we noted was that we were one of only a handful of people we met that were here for the first time. Ninety-five percent of the customers had been here before, most 3 or 4 times and one couple was here 24 times. That says something. This is our fourth trip to Cuba. Cuba has great people, is a beautiful island and has great beaches. The one common complaint you hear about Cuba is the food. This hotel has the best food we have experienced in Cuba. The seafood is very good. [... read more] The salmon steak at the Japanese restaurant was excellent. The main buffet was so good in fact that we cancelled our reservation at one of the a la carte restaurants that was "indoor" so we could eat outdoor. The food variety changed daily with things like roast beef, turkey breast, BBQ pig etc and then there were the constant like the pasta bar, and the main grill where you could order chicken, beef, pork, lobster, shrimp, mahi mahi etc. There are other resorts on other islands that can still top the food here but this is the best we have experience in Cuba and it is only a small step behind some other higher end resorts that cost a lot more money too. The rooms are very large and clean. The shower area had to be recently renovated and was beautiful. The whole resort was excellently maintained. Really good restaurant right on the beach. Good snorkelling and you can go sailing or windsailing. The staff are great. They works as a team amongst themselves and the rapport between the staff and customers is very warm and friendly. We will be going back here without question.

Gourgeous Beach

First of all the grounds are beautiful. We decided to upgrade to the Royal part of the hotel which is spectacular Are butler Hector was very helpful making our stay there very comfortable We enjoyed the buffet a lot as well as the restaurants We especially liked the pool on the Royal side over looking the ocean The one thing they really need to change is you are only allowed one beach towel per day meaning you have to carry a wet towel around all day .

Beautiful resort!

We really enjoyed this resort immensely. The grounds were impeccably kept and clean, the scenery beautiful everywhere and the service and food beyond reproach the beaches are awesome and never seem overcrowded as was the complex itself, we often wondered where everyone was at times! The snorkeling right off shore is great with coral formations of all kinds and beautiful fish. I believe the air conditioning is centrally controlled This led to us not sleep properly. The suite was a bit dated and needed renovation but was clean and bright with a beautiful terrace balcony that we enjoyed a lot. Amazing resort

It was our second time there and it did not disappoint us. Great location. Very good food. Outstanding service. Amazing beach. Lots of entertainment throughout the day including bands, dancers, and piano players. It is nice to have the four restaurants available as well as the buffet for evening dinner. The only drawback I found was we could only get the 8:30 sitting for all of them which meant we missed some of the evening shows. Otherwise, everything was good.

Fantastic Holiday

Awesome describes this resort. The staff were all wonderful and so friendly. We did not stay in the Royal Service area. There is no need as this resort is beautiful and staff accommodating on the regular side. We stayed in building 38 which is half way between the pool and the lobby. We could not hear noise from either when the entertainment was on. The lobby is massive and nightly had either a piano player or a Cuban group entertaining in the early evening. We spent half our days at the beach where the snorkeling is great with just walking out a short distance. The other half at the pool where there was never a shortage of beds with fresh linen if you wanted them. The bars at both locations were great and there were waiters walking around to serve if you chose not to get your own drinks.i can see why they have many return guests. It is a great place to unwind and we would recommend this hotel to anyone in a heartbeat!❤️❤️❤️

Excellent Property

We visited this property the week of Feb. 2nd 2019. We found that it was a great property from the lobby to the pool our room and the beach. Entering the ocean could be challenging, water shoes were a big help, butt after a few trips in and you found the path between the rocks you were fine, and didn’t need the shoes. Walking right off the beach with mask and snorkel provide you with great view of various coloured and species of fish up to about 10”. Lunch was available at a few places around the resort, including the main buffet, one at the pool and looking out over the beach and ocean. The room was spacious and comfortable, we stayed in unit 38 on the second floor in a corner unit, which was located about half way between pool area and main lobby and dining room. All staff very friendly and helpful, free internet cards available at lobby shop.we would go back and recommended this property to others.

A resort more for older folk!

Overall the resort was good. But we are in our 60s and felt young! It’s nice it’s adults only but it isn’t for a younger age group. We would not consider it to be a 5 star, but I suppose for Cuba it is....it’s in need of some repairs and paint. We had requested a room not on ground level and upon checkin were given ground level but our request to change it was quickly done. The room is nice but the steps from one level to the other are a safety hazard in my opinion. You are guaranteed hot food at the pool restaurant. We went to the international and Cuban a la carte restaurants and weren’t overly impressed..we actually didn’t bother going to any other a la cartes. Getting a coffee was a fiasco! At breakfast it was served at the buffet but other meals (including a la cartes) the staff had to go out to the lobby bar to get it...made no sense! The night entertainment was “ok”...the best performance being the aquatics ballet. Typical of any resort, people reserved their lounge chairs at the pool, even though the resort specifically said this was not allowed. The beach had plenty of lounge chairs, you find a spot and a worker will bring you chairs. The resort grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. We’d read previous comments of poor lighting on the grounds but this really didn’t seem to be an issue to us. We had a relaxing vacation, would we return to this resort...probably not.

Good for cuba

We had issues with our room, no hot water two days, water dripping from ceiling door hard to open from outside. The buffet had decent food but the al cart restaurants were very poor especially the international, we walked out. Pool was nice but had some algae growing in corners on bottom all around the swim up bar, beach is nice for walking or lying on but lots of rocks getting in and out. Would we return, not a chance but is better resort we have stayed at in Cuba

The Best Luxury Resort in Cuba

We have returned to this resort many times because it fits the bill for what we expect and want in a vacation resort. The grounds are impeccable and naturally beautiful. The hotel rooms are spacious and kept immaculately clean. The food offered at all the a la carte restaurants is excellent. They prepare special menu options for me because I am a vegetarian. The service is above first class. All the staff are courteous and go out of their way to make our vacation memorable. Wonderful vacation

We stayed in the Royal section and it was well worth the extra. The staff were amazing, rooms are lovely. We found the food to be a bit disappointing, not as good as our last visit a few years ago. Entertainment in both sections was really good. Lots of loungers always available around the pool and gardens, and lots of shady spots. Lots of walking to various areas but we didn’t mind and only took the shuttle at night. Shuttles were always available. We did tip a bit but found it didn†[... read more]™t make any difference, service was always excellent. The gardens were lovely and well kept. We thought maybe more attention should be paid to lights that had broken which made walking at night a bit difficult. We will return as we loved it so much.

Amazing resort

Good quality food. Clean. Silent. Wonderful amenities. WiFi free and nod bad quality. Snorkeling equipment free. Scuba diving free. Good quality alcohol. No lines. Wooden heart crafting free. Room service (7000) is free. Only shows medium quality. All other is very nice.

Very Poor reseort

Cuba is the last place to visit. I still recover from the flee bites and toxification from food. They have no idea how to make a mojito. They don't have mint. Coffee is horrible. Only at the main lobby bar they make expresso (sort of). Hotel is 90 min from the airport. The trip is awful in an old Chinese bus. WestJet on site rep told us not to leave the beach towels on the chair because it will get stolen! I could continue with negatives but there is no point! I have no idea hos this hotel  [... read more]gets 5 stat rating from Europeans visitors: English and German mainly! The only positive is the Habana Club Rum! My recommendation is to stay away!

Awesome vacation resort!

The rooms were good , nicely laid out and clean. The gardens were beautiful. All the public areas were well designed and clean. The pathways need to have better lighting. We used our phone so a flashlight.

Prepare to be pampered!

This place was a little slice of heaven. The food was absolutely first rate and the staff go above and beyond to cater to your every need! Spa is first rate with excellent treatments available. Spectacular grounds as well!

Beautiful location

Enjoyed our stay. Beautiful location grounds and rooms. Beach snorkeling was so accessible and fun. Food at a la cartes was a let down. Buffet was decent. Beach restaurant was always nice for lunch. Glad I got a good deal when booking, will not likely return unless can pay much lower than average price. Overall very relaxing and gorgeous views. Spa was good value with coupons
