Not a 4* hotel

I stayed at Cofresi Palm Beach between Jan 5- Jan 12. Definitely the standard room is very disappointing(furniture is very used ,the balcony door didn't work, room looks very old). No free Wi-fi. The food is ok but not great. Better if you go for eating at Tropical. There is no way to get a cappuccino or latte. The only coffee that I got is at breakfast ( gross taste). I got harassed by people who wanted to sell me VIP package. The weather was excellent. Never come back at Cofresi .

Not the Experience I was Hoping for!

As soon as we got to the resort we were assisted by the front desk and the ladies at the front. We were escorted to the hotel room which was by the sewage system and it smelt awful. We walked into our room and it smelt of mold. The bed was broken and the floors were dirty. We went back to the front lobby to switch rooms and spent over 2 hours arguing with the management. The “manager” offered us a room across from where we were (sewage again) it wasn’t until we demanded a real “manager†[... read more] that we were able to speak to someone who offered us a room at their sister resort “La Tropical.” This was about 5 hours after our arrival. Once settled in La Tropical was very nice! We got an upgrade to use the VIP pool/beach area and it was nice. Staff was pleaaant and friendly as well. Food was good but restaurant food was even better (except the Asian) overall I think the next time we plan a visit I will upgrade to the VIP experience.

OK Type Resort

Not a good experience at Cofersi Resort. We reached the resort at 1AM due to flight delay. We were hungry and asked helpdesk if any cafe is open at this time. First they said No and when we asked again they said Yes Pearl is open for snacks till 5AM. We went there to eat, the only thing available there was fries. We asked for ketch up and they said its finished and will be available in the morning during breakfast. The rooms were not good too. We learned very first day that if you don't have VIP Package you don't get to use all the facilities the resort has, It was not mentioned to us while booking the trip. Online it says Wifi is free, when we asked for the password they said you have to pay $60 USD for a week to use WiFi One thing we like was the entertainment team there. The people (Shofly, Mambo, Tiny and Chocolate) were really good. They kept people involved in all the activities, keep smiling and make people laugh too

Average

Definitely not a 4 star resort. This is a large resort made up of many different sections. You’ll have to take a shuddle to move between the different resorts. Cofresi itself is old and in need of updating. Also, there’s a lot of walking involved so if there any physical related concern, this won’t be the best option. The beach was also very small. Beautiful resort!

At this resort there are many pools and restaurants. It is on a large property and has many stairs. Not ideal for anyone with limited mobility. The staff are fantastic. The food is very tasty with no shortage. The beach is warm. Only downfall we experienced was on weekend when locals are admitted, lack of service then. Would definitely return. Rum prices are cheaper at the rum factory. We hired a local guide for $50usd plus tip for 5 people and he took us around to the downtown, rum factory (onl [... read more]y $4 pp), fort and shopping. Definite recommendation!

Beautiful Resort

The resort is beautiful and huge. Beaches were clean. There were several pools and bars. I only ate at the main buffet at the front of the resort and it had theme nights so it was nice to have a variety. There was always a few good desserts. We hired a cab to tour the city and shop. It was nice to get out with the locals. I found everything to be every expensive when trying to buy rum or souvenirs even after you had a good tan. The weekends locals were allowed to stay. On these days service and food were lower quality. Rooms were clean and comfy thanks to my made Valentina!! Staff were friends. We did go on a time share tour. Gave us a chance to ride around the huge resort. They gave you a Mickie if rum and a starter bottle of mommajuana. You can only be VIP to have access to golf carts. There are a LOT of stairs so be prepared to put on the miles. All in all I would go again it was a very nice place.

Mediocre

If I have to give a rating of my overall stay based on service, cleanliness and food i'd give it a 5.5. the food was very repetitive, unlike last year everyday the menu changed. I feel like the hotel is so focused on trying to get vip membership by wowing them on big things they're quality for "regular members" is really lacking. The fish was also uncooked and if asked to cook it longer it became a hassle. The tap in the tub broke as soon as I tried to turn the shower on the first day and did not get fixed til nearly 2 full days after reporting it. The sink drained very slowly and always left residue. I also made a request about that but that never got checked out. HOUSEKEEPING was so rude. They knocked everyday at 8:15 am and then continued knocking basically every 30 minutes until u got up to leave the room. They even went as far as calling the room to wake you up. I am on vacation. Chances are I drank all night and fell asleep a few hours prior. Why keep knocking and waking up your customers? Also on the last night I called the front desk to find out what time our shuttle was coming to get us. They said they didn't know even though there's a book with the disignated times and then when I called the next morning and was told an inaccurate time, nearly missed my flight, and had to pay 60 USD. One last thing that I thought was very unpleasant was the staff constantly pushing sales on you. I picked Lifestyle (Confresi) because I enjoyed my time there last year but I really was not please this year and most likely will not return to any lifestyle resorts in the Dominican Republic when I decide to go back next year.

Amazing vacation!!

Great food, awesome pools, good entertainment-all around perfect vacation! Went with the girl and we all loved this resort!! This is a very good resort, multiple food choices and all were great, none of us had any complaints.

Beautiful Resort

The resort itself was beautiful. Grounds and landscaping very clean and well maintained. Staff were very friendly. We found the resort much too large as there are 2 other resorts that are a part of the property. The other downfall was the amount of stairs. I highly recommend but not if you have mobility issues.

For people who like to walk

Cofresi palm beach resort and spa is beautiful. The people are friendly and the pools were never over crowded. My only criticism is that because the resort is massive, you will walk far distances to get to things like restaurants or pools unless you take a golf cart. They also approach you for time share sales which is unpleasant.

Not recommended, try it out at your own risk!

Most staff here are hard working, some of the many that I would give a 5+ star to are: Kitchen: Melvin Ventura, Jacqueline Entertainment: George, Luis Cepeda, Shu Fly, Carlos, Rey, Julio Guest services: Arbis Porra Francisco (he seemed to be the only helpful and kind person who was always willing to help, otherwise service at front desk, upper management, and guest services was horrible) We flew with Air Transit and were told by the representative that he would be available 24/7 and lets [... read more] just say that was not the case as I will explain furthermore shortly. Something we were not warned about is that this resort is HUGE (4 hotels together under one name) and you have to find your own way around and constantly wait around for a bus or golf cart to take you wherever you are going *comes around about every 15 min. Feels like you are on a stranded island as this resort is the only one on this beach together with Ocean World which they own as well. In ocean World they host a marvellous party on Thursdays "dome VIP party" which gladly everyone is welcome to. There they have a Bravsimmo show, casino, outdoor pool bar where they have a DJ until 12am with some extra dancers. That show, the Sunday Welcome Party and the 9:30 shows were great, at 8pm and throughout the day they have activities which are pretty standard but not bad, like dancing, drinking games and so on. If you are here for over 1 week everything is the same: shows and food. As for food they have different themes daily but the food stays the same! Left overs are often given, pizza, burgers, hot dogs, pasta and turkey station, rice, salad station and stews are what you will see daily. It gets tiring and there's nothing to do about it! No gluten free, dairy free, or vegetarian options, unless you would like to have the same fish (grouper) everyday or just live off of bland salad. Men in hats are paid to chase you down around the resort in order to get you into V.I.P and or time shares. They will waste half your day and lie to you about where they are taking you. They try to give you alcoholic and ask personal bank information. I wish I could tell you how many people they got hooked on this and now people are tied down for years paying membership fees.. heard endless amount of people's stories at the resort. They give alcohol and gift baskets to get you more involved. If you are not V.I.P you get treated differently and everyone is constantly attacking you to become V.I.P even after explaining you are not interested. They have different rooms that all rooms should be like, more food options, golf carts which tend to become unsafe since people are drinking and driving and sound adults are driving as well. The beach is beyond dirty; food, cups, diapers and anything you can imagine is in there. Yes, i've seen workers clean the sand, but the locals destroy it every weekend and take over the whole resort. They get very inappropriate, no personal space, make a mess and noise everywhere. I believe if they had no locals the resort would be a lot more empty. They come for a cheaper price therefore there is an overload of them on weekends. If you like to stroll the beach good luck because you will get stopped every other minute by locals selling items and or trips and when you walk towards Ocean World you are steps away from the streets so locals spend the day there and they will be bothering you especially if you are a female. Non V.I.P rooms are dirty and have bugs this makes you want to upgrade. Only very few buildings are new and trustworthy. Honestly, I would not recommend going this place is for people that want to feel special with their statuses. If you want a clean room you won't get it at a standard price and private beach is only for V.I.P forcing you to deal with locals, mess and more, food is beyond gross. Mangers are horrible, unhelpful and same with concierge.. rude and won't fix problems. Now you decide if you want to trust this place because even if they got new chefs and rebuilt the place I wouldn't trust a word they say since they are liars. An example of this is when we came to the beach at about 8am they were having a photoshoot they allowed us to walk through the V.I.P beach area but for over two hours did not give us a chair or anything. This really shows you how much they care, even after begging them and explaining that we cannot sit on a rock for so many hours they just sympathized and did nothing and when we told guest services they did not care. I can continue on and on with my stories but best of luck to you!

Enjoyed Every Day

We went with a group of friends in June and enjoyed every day of our vacation here. The hotel staff were very friendly, especially the Animation Entertainment crew and waiters at the a la carte restaurants. Unfortunately one of our rooms had broken A/C and they took a couple days to fix it. The pools were amazing. The beach was nice but there were few chairs for non-VIP guests. The food was always quite good but more variety for breakfasts might have been nice. Most Amazing Pools!!

We had a great Mother - Daughter vacation at the Cofresi Beach Resort the week of May 3rd - 10th. It was the slow season so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. We enjoyed 4 of the Restaurants - Brazilian, Italian, Asian & Indian each was a . I would totally recommend the VIP Party on Sunday night, it was so much FUN. There're a lot of stairs however the buses run all the time so this was not a concern for us at all.

My husband and I recently spent a week at Lifestyle's Cofresi Beach Resort and Spa in Peurto Plata, DR. I would give this Resort a solid 4 star rating. The first thing I want to point out is how CLEAN Cofresi is. Our rooms are crisp, clean, and comfortable. They changed our sheets daily. We had more than enough clean towels replaced daily. The restaurants are ran very well, the staff is wonderful and they even have their "captains" waking around to make sure all guests are happy and being taken care of. I've been to Cuba and Mexico on 10 different trips to different all inclusive resorts and I'd have to say this was the cleaning, most delicious food I've came across. The pools are beautiful, well kept. Clean, pool cleaners every morning. There is lifeguards daily. There is some adult only pools. Kids pool, Quiet pools, and party pools. So there's something for everyone. There is no 24 hour pools. They all close in the evening. The bartenders are nice. I've been to other resorts where they are a little bit more friendly. But, tipping a few dollars makes them a lot more talkative. And that's when they start mixing you up the really fun drinks. The nightly entertainment is good. I'd give it a 6 out of 10. The Shows are enjoyable but it's certainly not something I'd pay extra to see. I've seen better. That being said... the dancers seem very skilled, perhaps the choreographer needs to add some more spice? But still worth checking out. The night club ICE is very small. But it has everything a party seeker would need. Fog, Strobe lights, DJ booth who take requests, and a bar. There is no 24 hour bar. The bars serve alcohol from 10:30am-11pm and ICE night club is open from 11pm-3am Also, There is no 24 hour snack bar. However the buffets are open for long hours. I would still suggest you bring snacks for your room. Or buy some from their market at the tropical. Also. This is a HUGE resort. It's like a small town because you are joined by the Cofresi, the tropical, the royal suites. Presidential suits, and I think there's 1 or 2 more. There's 3 different buffets you can eat at. And there's 5 different a la carts. They have bank machines. Markets. Stores. Exchange booths, liquor huts, cigar huts. Pharmacy, 24 hour doctor with ambulance right on site. You really have no reason you need to leave this gated "community". And yes it is gated with very tight security. Every entry point is well paroles 24hours. They have a shuttle bus that runs every 10 minutes and can take you anywhere you need to go. I would highly recommend you use it. We walked everywhere for the first 2 days and regretted it. Use the shuttle! I would recommend this Resort to anyone interested in visiting Peurto Plata. The view of the mountains are amazing! And we didn't have any rain. Except 2 nights at 3am for about an hour. A few staff remembers that made my stay more pleasurable was Denisse at El Pilon and Yordi at the front desk. There was a few others but I can't remember their names. The only real "bad" part of our stay was the weekend. The locals come in the resort on the weekends and they are very rude and loud and seem to have no respect for tourists. They were at the party pool and the adult pool and they even invaded the quiet pool, and made it loud. Threw their cups everywhere. Very disrespectful. Come Sunday at 3:00pm the security is very firm to enforce their check out time. Hope this review helps!

Amazing Resort

Travelled to Cofresi Palm this past week and We have nothing but good to say about this resort. Never a dull moment here with many entertainers keeping everyone happy and always games being played. Chihuahua and Blackie whom are 2 entertainers there were the best. The buffet and A la carts food was Also great. I would definitely recommend this Resort.

Very nice resort!

We had an excellent week at this resort(no thanks to the weather)...the food was amazing, grounds were beautiful, pools were clean, rooms are a little dated(no big deal), service was top notch. BUT TOO MANY STAIRS!!

Good time!

I really enjoyed my stay in Cofresi Palm Beach resort. I loved the variety of options we had for dinner, from the many buffet options to the many restaurant options. The workers and everyone was so friendly.

Great resort

Everything about this resort was great, the rooms, the food, the pools, the beach, and the staff. There were allot of stairs but they also had lots of shuttles to take you anywhere on the resort. It is $40.00 us to go to town and back, the driver stays with you as long as you are there and brings you back. The only negative that was no big deal was the bus shuttles we very narrow and had to get to the back if it was full. Loved everything about the resort.

Not what we're used to

My husband and I stayed at the Cofresi Palm April 3rd to the 17th, 2017. If you have difficulty with steps this is not the resort for you. From our unit which was in building 207 it was 82 steps each day to the lobby and about 58 steps to the buffet three times a day. On the way there you had to cross a road with a ditch which had a pipe that carried the waste. The smell of raw sewage on the way to breakfast, lunch and dinner was over whelming. The pipe carrying the waste was broken open in two [... read more] places and was not repaired for our entire 14 day vacation. Our room was a bit dated with no pictures hanging on the walls and furniture that was in petty bad shape. There are no chest of drawers in any of the rooms. This makes it difficult to manage your clothing for two weeks. When we complained they informed us we got what we booked meaning a Standard room and not a Junior Suite. This was deceiving as the only pictures on their site when booking is of a Junior Suite so we expected something similar. We had warm water for two days and hot water for two days and the other ten days we took cold showers. I called about this issue but it took two days before we had our first day with warm water. The beach is very small so no long walks to enjoy. There are no huts on the beach but just above the beach area there are approximately 10 king size huts but you needed to down pretty early in the morning to reserve one of those. On a positive note we enjoyed the a-la-cart restaurants, especially the Italian, Mexican, Brazilian and the Asia. The food was really quite delicious. We met a number of really nice guests. The entertainment staff were great especially Chi Gua Gua (Carlos). We would rate him a five star. Our Transat rep was Freddie and he was friendly and helpful and acted on our behalf to try to get us a better room. The pool at our building was very quiet for the most part and is was easy to get a hut each day. Unfortunately the room issue, sewage smells each day and lack of hot water will keep us from booking at this resort again.
