Best vacation ever!!

The hotel is clean, beautiful and the staff are very helpful and happy. THE FOOD is so good - we don't even book the a la carte restaurants, the buffet is fancy, delicious and hot and fresh with a variety to feed even the pickiest eater. This last vacation was our fourth stay at the Be Live and will be our future stays as well!!!

I do not recommend

Overall, the resort was ok, it's definitely not a 4.5 star resort. I would give it a 3 at the most. Upon arrival, we were short towel cards and the room only had 2 towels in the bathroom( we were 4 in the room), bar fridge was not stocked and the air conditioner did not work efficiently. The grounds are ok and the pools are too. Not enough shaded areas around the pool however. You have to pay $3 per day for the use of a room safe which you then have to carry around a key with you, definitely a d [... read more]ownside. The food is horrible!! No variety, no Canadian/American food, very little fresh fruit, everything seems to be sitting in some sort of liquid. The buffet looked like slop for the most part. My kids had a very hard time finding things they would eat which resulted in us switching resorts on day 3. They are definitely understaffed in the kitchen. Minimal staff actually speak fluent English making it extremely difficult to ask for anything. The beach is dirty, full of seaweed on a daily basis. One lot over the beach is riddled with garbage. The beaches are not owned by the hotels and are public. Be careful, a few restaurants on site are not part of the all inclusive. The convenience shops on site are well stocked and have anything you may need. Overall, it's ok but I will definitely not be returning to this resort.

Pleasant stay

Before I went there I read some reviews and I must admit I was not encouraged. After the trip I would recommend it to my friends (most). We must remember this is not Punta Cana;therefore overall we had a plesant stay but there was certainly room for improvements. There needs to be some renovations without a doubt, but in our views the rooms , food, entertainment and hospitality were good. I must add that we speak fluent spanish and definitely is a plus. A great resort for the family!!

We were at this resort from August 11th to 18th, 2017. The weather was great. Amazing food and the a l'carte were excellent especially the Brazilian and Mediterranean. Lots of food to select in the buffet and the staff were great!! My hubby had wanted the pool to be a swim up pool, which it was not, but still ok as it was right near the pool. The resort was clean and was well laid out and what I liked, it was smaller in size then other resorts. The staff were amazing and extremely pleasant and friendly and most spoke English well!!! Nice resort

The staff did not look happy. They were not very friendly. More fruits would have been better. The pool bathrooms were disgusting. The bars ran out of mint and limes before noon. Entertainment had a lot to be desired. It was the same dance with different costumes. Dances were not family friendly. They were inappropriate behavior with little children around.

It's average.

It wasn't 4.5 star worth, but the rooms were clean, pool was great and the beach was nice with lots of shades. Lacking in nightly entertainment, breakfast was routine, but paella was awesome! Oh yea, the maid stole my dress OUT of my LUGGAGE!!! Do lock up and take the safety lock key everywhere you go. Highly recommended! Lots of locals at the resort, too. Not so friendly.

Satisfying to disappointed due to MOLDS

This is our first time in DR and we feel everything was excellent value for money from the food, staff and the amenities including the rooms. We were assigned adjoining room at the ground floor and the rooms look clean but the beddings smells moldy. Something that we ignored. Coming back home, we noted that all our bags and clothing smelled intensely moldy. To our further disappointment, the smell did not go even after washing and drying the clothes. We have to soak our things in vinegar and [... read more] baking soda and re-wash them to get rid of the smell. Concerned that this could cause sickness if not addressed by the hotel management. I am not sure if the same problem is widespread or it only happens on the ground floor of building 5 and in our assigned adjoining rooms. So what an otherwise wonderful experience was negated by the moldy smell. Because of this, I am reluctant to recommend this hotel at this point.

Room was older but okay Beach was very nice Food was okay Nightly shows were good Disco was good Bartenders were great Snack bar at the water was great for lunch everyday Entertainment at pool good Souvenir shops on resort a little pricey Mosquito, Spaghetti, Chocolate and David were amazing and Brian at the front desk Great variety of excursions at okay prices

Great resort

This resort is well maintained: grounds and pool very good. The rooms are large and no complaints about cleanliness. Fresh towels each day, bar always stocked and beautiful flowers tugged in towels daily. Restaurant had a large variety of good food to choose from and service was one day good and the next a bit slow, but all in all cannot complain. Entertainment, wether day or evening could be better and needs improvement, especially sports.

We enjoyed everything about the resort they where always there to help us with what we needed and we also enjoyed the food the grounds where very clean the people working there are very friendly and helpful

Relaxing Vacation

Be Live Marien turned out to be a good choice for a week long break. The room was comfortable and the staff friendly and accommodating. What I really liked was the fact that the resort was a little more compact than some of our other vacations, not a lot of walking necessary, but all the amenities you get used to with all inclusive resorts. I'd be inclined to check out their hotel in Punta Cana next spring. All in all a good vacation!

Nice but older Resort

Well overall my "séjour" at teh resort was good. The room was very clean despite 15 coats of paint. It smelled old and humid. The made was so friendly I would have been happy having her has my mother. I got a very big Genuine hug before I left. The food was ok but not consistant from one night to the other. There w [... read more]as may be 2 nice days overcast but nice and 1 beautiful sunny day out of the 7 days a was there. Would I go back? Probably but not alone, and it would have to be cheaper. On the Friday night 600 Dominicans arrived at the resort as a present from there Boss. They were every where. I understand that for them was a treat but for the people that paid full price, I don't think it was fair as I am single and paid more for my trip because I am single. As for the buffet, they raided the desserts first and you could see, a lot of them would fill their plate like they hadn't eaten for days. So that Friday, extremely noisy in the corridors of the building after checking in and Saturday and Sunday, outside at the pool kids running around and filling up the pool. A decent prioperty

The overall condition of the property is above average with the exception of the staff who are exceptional. The only major issue that we have, has well as the majority of the guests that I spoke to, is the Hotels policy of allowing locals access to the Hotel from Saturday to Sunday afternoon. The resort is relatively small and imagine up to 600 locals arriving at basically the same time, thus overwhelming the facilities. The line up to the bars where 15 to 20 minutes, likewise to the buffet. [... read more] Food actually ran out Saturday afternoon at the beach grill. I feel that we lost three full days out of the fourteen that we stayed there. I suggest that travel agencies issue an advisory concerning this hotel policy before suggesting this property to prospective clients. Our agent Julie was exceptional and we highly recommend her. The reservations for the air portion and at the actual hotel went like clock work. She is very professional and friendly and goes the extra mile to support her clients. Please keep up the great work Julie.

Amazing Experience!!!!

Un resort maravilloso! Las locaciones siempre limpias, los restaurantes sencillamente espectaculares, pero nada comparado a la amabilidad de las personas que trabajan ahí! Falto un poco de entretenimiento para niños.

Better than expected! Resort is so clean, well tended.

We were very leery after reading all the Trip Advisor reviews, they were not very complimentary. Not sure where they visited but the place was beautiful. Exceeded our expectations by far. Trip Central was great, the lists they send before you leave really helped us to be prepared. We will definitely use Trip Central again and would even re-visit the same resort. I would recommend Dominican Republic be visited in MAY. No line ups, no over crowding, more one on one service. Be careful of the blue shirts on the beach, they are trying to get you to go off the resort to visit their "Market", prices are no better and you get accosted. Be careful of excursion prices, we saw many people be taken or scammed for the exact same excursions.

Honest Review

Rooms: need updating, very plain. The patio door had a very cheap lock. I suggest an upgrade to ocean view it was definitely worth it. The water was always hot and awesome water pressure. We stayed in room 1121 but heard horror stories about other rooms. Food - buffet was OK, usually cold food but a large selection. The A-la-Cartes were amazing. The snack bar was also awesome. You're usually fighting for food at the buffet and the pool area is very crowded. The grounds were very well kept and it's a small resort. Very good for people who have limited mobility. We brought our baby and could bring the stroller everywhere except one a-la-carte above the pool. I suggest paying for the lock to the safe $21 US/week. We also paid $25US for 25 hours of Internet and would suggest that if wanting to have access to Internet all the time. Otherwise you have 1 hour free per day by the pool only. If the rooms were upgraded and the food was served hot we would consider going again if the price was right. There are definitely better places out there but for the price it's not too bad.

Excellent resort

The resort was great,the pool was nice and big and very very clean..the beach was great, you could easily walk 45 minutes (one way) on the nice sand. The food was AaaMazingly good.We had a blast.Super!!

Great resort!!!

It was a smaller resort but still had plenty of chairs by the pool or the beach. The rooms were clean, the pool was very clean and the food was very good. The beach was nice and you could walk a long way to the right. My only complaint would be arriving at the resort at 10:30am and not having a room until the check-in time of 3pm. It is not really convenient and I'm not sure if it is this way at every resort, I know this is the rule at hotels, but it would definitely be better to have a room  [... read more]ready upon arrival. We still made the best of our time, left our luggage at the entrance (at own risk) and went to the pool area, which is closer to the hotel lobby. Besides that...good times. We were 8 and we all ate very well, no one was sick and we all had fun.

Overall Great Vacation

I stayed at Be Live Marien in Puerto Plata, DR and it was perfect! The staff were lovely, they were very generous with the drinks, the food was great, as was the lay out of the resort; they always had stuff going on around the pool to keep people entertained. We went on 3 excursions while at the resort too; the city tour was really interesting, getting to meet locals, see the entire city from atop the beautiful mountain, taste local cuisine, learn about the history of Puerto Plata, the tour gui [... read more]de was great, he could speak at least 4 languages and was very courteous. Our second tour was called "Paradise Island", which was this tiny little sand bar out in the ocean, it took a while to get to, but it was worth it; we had some drinks, soaked up the sun and went snorkeling. It was amazing! There were two options, the speed boat, which was less expensive (which is the one we did), and the yacht, which was really nice for couples, I heard. The snorkeling was quite an experience, the guide would give me handfuls of dead fish and all the tropical fish would come around me and eat out of my hands, it was amazing! After that we toured the mangrove forest and that was absolutely stunning! Our third, and last tour was called "Mega Extreme" and it was definitely not for the faint of heart, but it was worth the challenge! We hiked up the other side of the mountain (opposite to the cable cars), to these waterfalls that we could cliff-jump into, there were natural rock slides that you could slide down into the water. They tell you if you have your own water shoes you can bring them, but DON'T! The water shoes you rent for $2 USD aren't actually water shoes, they're loafers, that tie up and have proper soles, and they are meant for the excursion! I used my water shoes and they ended up falling off in the rushing water and I never found them again, and my friends shoes tore open. After I lost my shoes one of the guides lent me his, and the experience was so much better afterward, because I wasn't worrying about slipping in the mud. The jumps were so scary, but so exhilarating! After that we went zip lining through a forest, their lines are set up so that even someone over 300lbs can go on them, so my buddy, who usually misses out on this sort of stuff, was able to experience it! Very beautiful! Last, we went horseback riding, and it was an overall great experience!

Great people

The Be Live Collection Marien has everything you need to enjoy your stay. The safe in the room is offered at an extra cost, the wine or beer at the buffet at night is extra and if you paid for a waterfront room make sure you have the documentation to prove it otherwise you will not get it. The employees will try to sale you timeshares. The entertainment is fun, there's a volleyball court in the sand and pool activities.
