Great Family Vacation at Ocean Sand and Blue!

We were a group of 13 people, older adults, younger adults, teenagers and youngsters and there was something for everyone... The kids club (called the Daisy Club) was great with outdoor climbers, a trampoline and a club house set up for various activities. The teens enjoyed playing video games, bowling and foosball at the teen club. The food at the resort was really good, no one got sick, the drinks were great but service was mediocre. Overall, I would still recommend the Ocean Blue and Sand as long as expectations are not set too high.

Great Location

This resort was very clean and rooms were large and the hotel staff were very nice, however the H10 Premium Reps hounded you every time you stepped out of your room. I would not go back to this resort due to this, as it got very annoying!!! The restaurants had large portions and was good food. The buffet was the same thing every day for breakfast and lunch which after the 3rd day was not that appetizing.

Resort was wonderful

The food and drinks were great, and the room was very clean. We did have to endure to pressure to purchase a membership to H10, but after that no problem. Our rep was from Sunquest and he looked after us pretty well, the only problem he didn't explain all the details regarding our tour to Santa Domingo. The tour was great, it was the trip there was a little confusing as we not told we would be changing buses along the way. Other than that the whole vacation was wonderful. I was very pleased

The rooms were very clean and very well kept up. The grounds were very neat and tidy. Shuttle buggies ran around resort continuously which was handy. The drinks were very good , bar staff very funny and quick . The food was very good and not crowded at buffets or al acartes. Entertainment was pretty good. Pools very clean with lots of activities. The beach had large sandbags to save the beach. You could still swim no problem . I was quite impressed with this resort and would go again.

Amazing resort

Resort was wonderful and food were really awesome.We highly recommend it for anyone who want a break from their mundane lifestyle. We would give five 🌟... However avoid the trap of buying a vip card...On the whole, best value for the money we paid..

Great stay.

This was my first time south and it didn't disappoint. The food was amazing especially at the a la cartes. Buffet was a miss only once. The pools were clean, cool and refreshing. Staff there were friendly and courteous. Beach was okay, ocean a bit wild but lots of places to sit. Only downsides were the H10 reps trying to sell their travel package, mini fridge wasn't stocked a couple of days and we had to find a maid for some beverages, Wi-Fi didn't always work and the room needed some attention.

Amazing resort

We absolutely loved this resort. The food,weather and people were amazing. They are doing some work on some of the outside building but nothing to complain about. The only bad thing I would say is the cleaning service in the rooms is a bit poor, not always restocking fridge, towels etc. We plan on returning in April

Beautiful

This resort is the best place yet, well maintained. Food was excellent, the rooms were beautiful and very clean. We will definately be returning.we even purchased into their H10 promotion. The sand bags in the ocean was kinda an eye sore. But the beach itself was very clean.

Great Resort

First time at the Ocean Blue and Sand Hotel was beautiful, great staff friendly and warm. Good was fantastic and always something for everyone. Pool was great and Chocolate , Black Coffee and George will keep you entertained all day. Rooms were great, stocked mini bar and beautiful view of the pool and gardens. There were some issues with keeping it clean as housekeeping seemed to lack a bit but otherwise we can't wait to get back to our Ocean Blue Family.

Good Resort

The hotel is nice and clean. It could use a few updates and serve better food at the restaurants. They need to not hustle people with the membership. Overall a good enough experience. People are very friendly.

Family get away

So first and foremost the staff was quite friendly and kind. Food was great, something for everyone. However the H10 representatives are constantly hustling you to attend meetings, which we did not want to attend but were guilted into attending. Waste of our time. The only other disappointment was the beach. Apparently vast amounts of seaweed is a common problem now. The beach looked awful and smelt terrible. They had a tractor that tried to clean it up daily, but this along with a helico [... read more]pter that would fly by every 45 minutes, did not make for a restful beach experience. They were also the only beach to have 10 very large "whale" looking humps in the water. They were apparently filled with sand in an attempt to prevent the seaweed from going on the beach????? My husband preferred the pool, which was well maintained and beautiful. However whether you choose the pool or the beach, you must wake early enough to play the towel/umbrella game! My first trip to Punta Cana, not sure that I would go back to this resort.

An incredible experience for our family

This hotel was really great. The pool is huge with a well stocked swim-up bar, and they have good quality alcohol (brugal extra viejo anyone???). The buffet has excellent choices for all meals, and a la cartes don't require reservations except the japanese one. We ate at the American and Mexican restaurants and both were really good. The American restaurant had a huge menu. The a la cartes also have a kids menu which was handy. My kids went to the kids club a couple times and had fun. One night they had dinner with the kids club and they offered supervised kids' activities afterwards giving us a couple hours to ourselves. We saw one show and it was well done. Bowling was fun, and there are pool tables and foosball tables in the bowling alley as well as a bar. The beach was not the greatest I've seen in the DR...lots of seaweed and some weird plastic barrel things in the water. We basically stayed at the pool. We used the resort photographer who was amazing and we got lots of great photos. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely go back in the future.

Family Vacation

We have 2 families spent 5 days vacation on this resort. The food was great and room was average. Beware of staff wearing yellow shirt and they eating your time to get you H10 membership or timeshare. All ala carte restaurant are priority with H10 members and we waited for 2 hours before getting a table. The toilet flush was broken and keeps promise to send someone to fix, but no one show up. My family went in Cuba last year the beach was so beautiful, clean and clear water and I can't compare to this stinky dark ocean. This is our first time to dominican republic, and would not definitely going back to OCEAN BLUE RESORT. I would not recommend this resort to my friends or anyone.

Not worth it!!! Really bad resort

I don't want to be a party pooper BUT I must say what I think about this resort because we also work hard to pay off a week of vacation, some of us overpay for what we get here, I'm not a picky person at all, this was my 4th time in Punta Cana and this resort isn't a 4 1/2 as they said, this is more like a 3 star. Well buddy Too bad, I went there for a vacation not to waste half of my day with you. The rooms were basic but clean, they cleaned everyday, we had two rooms and in one of them my sister found a cockroach on the bed! Yuck! The buffet food was just ok. You can find something to eat, but it was always the same food or food from the previous night, Breakfast was always My favourite, the Omelet guy "Marcos always have a smile for you" and I loved it. The servers in the buffet area are very pleasant and always smiling, a big Thank You to Roldán, Carlos (El Comandante) y Julio who made our mornings wonderful, full of laughs! Keep up the good work. The restaurants were good, the steak house was good, again thank you Julio and Jovanni, and the Italian was ok. Again I don't like these "first come, first serve" it doesn't work like that, they should make reservations for us like most resorts do in Punta Cana, not being in a huge line up to get a table of 8 people, insane... oh and you better be there by 5 pm to eat a decent meal... Mike coffee was really good! The entertainment was poor, I'm not sure if it was because of low season as they said, not entertainment for kids at all, but it needs a big improvement. The pools were nice, our favourite place to hang out. The beach.... the beach.... you know! We paid all these money for the beach (at least I do because I don't have a beach here) but it was a big disappointment (even tho I knew what to expected) but it is more worse then expected... the beach in that area is gorgeous but at this resort is BAD and those sand bags made look really bad, i understand why they did it but the smell in the morning is bad, I'm not sure if it is because of the sand bags or the amount of seed weeds that gets accumulated around these bags, Yes, some guys try to clean the beach but also with little bags and a broom is brutal for them, they should get a small truck to help out to clean this beach constantly at least. The buffet lunch at the beach it wasn't good, not food or BBQ at the beach like many resorts do, example: paella, fish, roast pig etc.... The guy who makes the panini I don't think he wants to work there maybe they should get him another job, he was a very boring Person to deal with compare to other employees. I love Punta Cana, like I told them that's my second home but this resort isn't worth it... I love Dominican people and I will definitely come back but not to this resort.

Some good... some not so good

Pools/Beach - I was very surprised to find that there is almost no shade at this resort. There is a small area at the beach with shade but it was so packed, there wasn't enough room for us. Sure we could have gone down and put our towels out early in the morning but I don't want to sit inches away from total strangers. The loungers were really packed together. They also have a roped off "privileged" section and the beds and chairs are practically on top of one another. This was seemed so ob [... read more]noxious to me... apparently the resort wants you to pay for shade. We normally love to lounge at the beach but were also very disappointed in the view. There are massive sand barriers that look like washed up submarines on the beach that block your view. The beach is very washed out and you have to go down hill to get to the water. We thought maybe we would spend some time at the pool instead but my partner saw a woman vomit in the pool... yuck. I had read that there was a party pool and a quiet pool but they are literally right next to each other so the quiet pool is not that quiet. Despite my grumblings, we did enjoy the weather, found a quieter spot on the beach in front of the beach buffet and just made sure we had on a lot of sunscreen since we had no shade. We enjoyed walking the beach and swam in front of other resorts without the sand barriers. We also enjoyed a beautiful sunrise walk on the beach. Punta Cana is quite lovely. Service - was good. The first day we thought we were being given a tour by the concierge but half way through we realized he was trying to get us to go to a meeting on the second day after our arrival. He wanted to talk to us about H10 - sales job. We did not go to the meeting but we saw him again and he was eager to get us to the meeting. We just explained we are on vacation and we don't want any schedules... he left us alone after that but I have to say it was a bit annoying. We started avoiding the staff with yellow shirts after that. Food - tasted quite good but I had some travelers tummy. Felt quite ill for a couple of days. I think I'm just susceptible to it. The restaurants were clean. Rooms - very spacious and clean. Lovely balcony

Fantastic resort

We went to this resort on the advise of our Trip Central advisor and we were not disappointed. Everything went well from the flight to the transfer to the check in. The resort is not to big but big enough to be by yourself if you want. There are two enormous pools which both have a swim up bar and the servers were fantastic. The al a cart restaurants were all great and the Japanese is worth the trip with all the entertainment going on. The resort is well maintained and clean. Check in was suppose to be for 3pm..we arrived at the resort around 4:30 only to be told our room was not ready. The receptionists made it sound that we may be transferred to another hotel because they were overbooked. Our room was ready for 6pm. then we check that our sheets had blood stains on them. They were not cleaned. we waited about 45 minutes for the maid to delivery sheet. We did not get to bed till around 1:30 a.m that night. No impressed. Resort was clean. Food was good. On day [... read more] 5, the maid forgot to replenish our towels when we got to our room from the pool, we had no towels....again not impressed. We requested garden view or ocean view, but instead our view was a concrete wall, we couldn't sit out on our balcony.....again not impressed. I've been to much better resort. From 1 to 10 I would rate this a 5. Would I be going back probably not. would I refer this resort to someone else...probably not. I've been to many resorts in Mexico, Jamica and loved them all. This is my first time going to the dominican, I would definately be going back but not to Ocean Blue Resort

Awesome family holiday at OBS

We spent 2 weeks at Ocean Blue and Sand and we had an amazing time. Everything​ was great, room was beautiful, very clean updated, drinks, towels were stocked daily. Great housekeeper we had, she went the extra mile to make sure we were happy. The food was outstanding, so much to choose from. Beautiful pools and very clean. Grounds at OBS are beautiful, the staff works very hard at their jobs. Bartenders are fast and friendly, this resort certainly is a 5* and I will recommend it anyone.

Wonderful Accessible Resort!

Ocean Blue and Sand - This resort has everything you could possibly want, and it is fully Wheel Chair Accessible!! The staff were amazing and ready to do anything to make your stay memorable! My husband is a quadriplegic and we had requested ahead of time for an accessible room, this was granted right away with no issues. This is not our first travel down south and believe it or not it can be quite a task obtaining an accessible room even after you have requested it well in advance. The buff [... read more]et restaurants were just as good as the a la carte however we loved the Steak House the best. The breakfast options were plentiful and included many different options. We spent our days by one of the two huge and beautiful pools on the property. The water was very warm and the swim up bars were great. There was always fun activities going on by the pool and we were not once bored our entire stay there. We would recommend this resort to our family and friends.

Very disappointed

The resort customer service is not good at all. We were not greeted properly staff ignored questions. The resort wifi did not work including the reception desk tops. The ac did not work and made a funny noise. The beach was small dirty and not the same as the pictures. No entertainment. The rooms smell and beds were uncomfortable. We have to pay extra money to switch resorts and I was not happy. I will not recommend anyone to this resort.
