We had a great time at the Riu Santa Fe. It hasn't been our favorite Mexico trip but we still really enjoyed ourselves. There were a few things that were not great, such as how spaced out the resort is. Its quite a walk from your room if you want to see the ocean, or go to the lobby or the pool. The staff was great and very helpful. Great entertainment as well! The food was not very good, we went out to eat in town a lot of the time.

Amazing resort!
Was very pleased with the grounds, well kept clean. Rooms were very nice and kept clean with an amazing view of the ocean. Many pools to choose from depending on your mood, nice and quiet family oriented, water sport fun, swim up relaxing and drinking, or loud music party pool with lots of drinking. Whatever your mood you can find what your looking for. Food was pretty good no complaints, I would definitely recommend and go back. Best trip ever!!!!!!

Awesome trip, great resort
We stayed in building 2, which after seeing the 'party pool' nearest to the ocean, I was grateful we weren't closer. It was honestly, gross. Cigarette butts everywhere, empty glasses all over the pool area, and it was way warmer than the other pools, which meant to me most of the party goers were not getting out often enough to use the washroom. I wanted to go into the infinity pool but I couldn't bring myself to go in.The back 2 pools were really nice. Not crowded at all, everyday we had a grea[... read more]t spot near the bar and it was loud and fun, but sill peaceful. The grounds were maintained beautifully, grass always cuts and trees taken care of. Everything was always being cleaned or was noticeably clean when areas were not being used. We could always find something good in the buffet , the Asian restaurant wasn't the best, the chicken teriyaki was not appetizing and the buffet option for appetizers was a little strange. But I enjoyed the fried ice cream!
We ate at the steakhouse our last night, and after a confusion with us not being on the guest list, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We're from Alberta, with AAA Alberta beef so we were all skeptical about the quality, but we all left very satisfied with no complaints. It was a really great meal. Getting transportation to and from the resort was very easy and not a hassle. And it was close enough to town that it wasn't expensive.
The only major complaint I left with was the bed and pillows. The pillows were very soft and were not comfortable one bit. And I never have back pain, but by the last few days, I started getting pain from the bed, not sure if it was too hard or not enough support, either way I was very happy to leave and sleep in my own bed the night we left.
But overall, we had a great trip and would recommend the resort to a friend.

Lives up to the hype!
The Riu Santa Fe was absolutely amazing. Beautiful grounds, great rooms, and the food was very, very good! All of the workers were extremely helpful and positive which really enhanced our experience. The beach was beautiful and although the undertow in the water is no joke, it is still possible to swim on most days. The location of the hotel is perfect as it is private but close enough to other resorts to make for a fun walk if you want to explore. We walked the beach into downtown on more than [... read more]one occassion which made for a great half-day activity. The downtown area is very safe with plenty of restaurants and shopping. Lastly, the weather was absolutely perfect. We came in late April/early May and it was cooler in the mornings and evenings but warm/hot in the sun during the day. I think I only saw a handful of clouds in the sky in the entire seven day duration of our trip. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be returning to Cabo in the near future!

Great destination - lots to do and see!
This has been one of my favorite destinations to date! The hotel was immaculate, and the grounds were gorgeous. The pools were well maintained, and the chairs washed down daily. There was plenty of food selection and the drinks were excellent. The staff were very attentive. There was lots to do off the resort as well so you were never bored. Al la carte's were excellent. All and all it was an amazing week and I would definitely go back to the same spot.

Relaxing Week
Room- Clean, great shower, well stocked, bar in the room but it was all Tequila no other variety, yes one says Vodka but it is not Vodka it is Tequila. They all had the same smell and same taste. No coffee machine in your room, would be nice if they would put them in the rooms. Beds are not too bad but not the greatest. We stayed in Building 3 facing the pool. I like to be by the pool area and this was central to lobby, entertainment and meal buildings. If you want to be closer to the "party" th[... read more]en Building 7 and the pools there are more active.
This is a very family friendly resort so if you are looking for a just adults not the place for you. Try and not go around spring break if you are not looking for rowdy teenagers and young adults. For me none of that matters I enjoy being around people and noise does not bother me if I needed to get away from it there were other spots on the resort to be. Some people may find this resort too big and it is a big resort so if you do not like to walk a lot or can not walk a lot this is not the resort for you as there is no trolley it is all walking.
Food- lots of choices in the buffet, I did not find the food that bad for a resort, remember this is a resort not a personal chef. The reservation restaurants lack choice and lack taste. I have only ever found one that I have ever liked in all the resorts I have stayed in. I do not feel they are good at all here.
Evening Entertainment - Not bad the Michael Jackson show was good, sound system could be better for the people in the back.
Staff - All the staff were great there I never had an issue ever. Remember there are many, many others staying there you are not the only one, they are getting asked for things all the time and it might not come to you at the snap of a finger but they do not forget.
This is an average resort and it was a great deal at the time , There does seem to be a lot of young adults that frequent here and have little to no respect for their surroundings or others. I had the privilege of meeting many that were not that way but there were still too many that were beyond rude and disrespectful.
The Beach - You can not swim in the ocean, biggest disappointment for me, had a great time but can say that I will not be back for this reason, I love the ocean and this beach lacks luster barely any chairs, no shade, no canopies, full of vendors waiting for you to cross that rope to chase after you. Although a very stern no thank you does stop them, and you can not swim in the ocean due to the under tow. I tried and I can swim not worth the risk as it is very strong and will keep you under for too long.
The only place for WIFI without paying for it was in the lobby area and even then you got booted off all the time because of the amount of others on. Now being away should not be a big deal but if you have family at home you are trying to check in with you may be interested in this fact

Fun in the sun!
The resort is large, and for this reason has something for everybody. Whether you are looking for a quiet stay or a party scene this resort has both. Went with a friend at the end of March and stayed in building 7 - closest building to the beach. There is lots to do - beach volleyball courts, tennis courts, pool tables in the sports bar, multiple pools are all on site. Food and service were acceptable (not great) likely because our stay coincided with US spring break. Bartenders were generous wi[... read more]th the alcohol. If you are looking for a quiet resort, definitely not the place to go in February or March. Overall, a good stay.

Awesome time
This resort was amazing. We had a great time. The staff and service were great. We didn't have any issues at all. Checking in was the easiest we have ever experienced. If you do go to this resort request building 7. The location and atmosphere is the best in the entire place. And the food was the best I've had at a resort so far. Los cabos was a great place to visit and will definetly return.

Cant wait to go back!!
I booked with friends to stay at the Santa Fe, it was great, exactly what I was expecting!
FOOD- The Steakhouse and Mexican a la carte restaurants were fantastic!! Although hard to make reservations as they were often very busy but if you plan ahead its worth it. The buffet selections were just okay in our opinion, they didn't change much throughout the week so by the end we were a little sick of the same thing but overall the food was fine.
POOL BARS - The ocean view pools were a younger crowd [... read more]that was more into partying while we were there, however there was a quieter pool with a swim up bar in the middle if the property (no ocean view) that was much more relaxing if that's what you're looking for. Only complaint here was people reserving chairs - very hard to get pool chairs because people would put towels on them and "reserve" them veryyyyy early or late the night before.
OCEAN VIEW & BEACH-Ocean views from the hotel were spectacular, couldn't have asked for more. We saw whales almost every morning from the hotel property. The water was extremely rough, the first few days, huuuuge waves would crash up on the beach and the wash up of water would come all the way up the beach - it was really a sight to see and could not be captured in its full magnitude on camera. The water calmed down toward the end of our stay and we WERE able to swim in the ocean at our hotel.
LOCATION - Perfect. The hotel is very close to the Marina and Downtown for Nightlife but not so close that the beach is busy and crowded. Taxi pickup at hotel was 14 dollars and about 10 minute drive. The walk to the Marina on the beach was about 30 minutes and very hot but the beach is beautiful! There is also a Wal-Mart near the hotel, nice to have in case you forget anything; sunscreen, first aid, medications - all MUCH cheaper there than at hotel.
EXCURSIONS BOOKED AT HOTEL - Can be pricey but worth it!!
We did the Cabo Expedition Whale watching $85- staff was great, very welcoming and knowledgeable, offered tones of information about the whales and other marine life, got to see the Arch, Lovers Beach, sea lions, dolphins, manta rays and some fish. (Pickup and drop off at the hotel included)
Eco-Cat Catamaran Ride $50 - included unlimited drinks, tour of the Arch and Lovers Beach, snorkeling/kayaking/swimming at the Sea of Cortez, lunch and music - we had a great crew on board and a great fellow guests on teh tour - it was so much fun and well worth the money! (Pick up and drop off at the hotel NOT included.)
Glass bottom boat ride booked at the Marina - inexpensive and saw tonnes of fish and got to take some pictures and tour the Arch, saw Sea Lions, and Lovers Beach where normally you could jump out but the water was very rough so we could not.
CLEANLINESS AND ROOMS - No complaints here, rooms were clean and comfortable, mini-bar was included and fully stocked all week. The resort itself was verrrry clean, always saw friendly staff out cleaning, scrubbing floors, walkways, and pools or refreshing green and sand areas.
RECOMMENDATIONS - In the future I will 100% be booking the RIU again but I would upgrade to the Palace in the future (same property). The Palace apparently offers better food, poolside drink service at your beach chairs, and will still allow access to the Santa Fe pools and restaurants (but Santa Fe cannot attend the Palace). Also, from what we heard the Palace is a more relaxed atmosphere as opposed to partying. Overall, great trip!! Looking forward to going back!!

Still a very clean, beautiful resort. Even when the little ones from University come for spring break. If the kids would be respectful of others staying there and the employees, it wouldn't be so bad staying there then. Still love this place !!

Rui Santa Fe
Its a large resort, I have been to a few all inclusive resorts and I have to say that I have never paid for the pool tables before. Also all my travel partner kept saying "They sure could use someone in the entertainment department." & the rooms sure could use some updating (not so much the rooms as the bedding and curtains). Also we upgraded to a ocean view and it wasn't full ocean view but maybe 1/2 of our view. The balcony the we had, had a small opening so I couldn't get no sun while sitting[... read more] on it, which sucked, so my suggestion is to ask for a room with full balcony not the one with the little window opening (our room was 7549)
The beach.... my bad for not doing the research, but I like a beach I can walk on and swim in. This beach is very hard to walk on, with the large slopes and the sand that felt like sandpaper on my feet. Also the sand is very loose so its a pretty good work out to walk in it.Now the good, The food great, the pools were fantastic, we went on spring break so it was very busy and even at 1:00 in the afternoon we managed to find lounge chairs at both the rowdy pool and the quieter one. Staff is very friendly. I am going to say I would recommend this hotel, but it would be more for my 21 and 26 year old children.

Great Value Resort!!
First time in an all-inclusive resort. I have to admit it was great, the resort was clean and modern. The staff were great, all speaking English and always happy and respectful of the visitors. The 3 buffet restaurants offered quality food and a great variety, it would be impossible to not find anything you like. There was a good mix of age groups and also many yong families but the resort offered something for everybody so you never felt anyone was out of place. Evening entertainment was just O[... read more]K in my opinion but the bars did offer a wide selection of drinks. Overall this was a great vacation and real value for money.

Impressive but too big
Mega resort. If you have mobility issues, might be a problem as only one building has elevators. If you are on the 4th top floor, you can except to ascend 9 sets of stairs. this fo-called 5 star resort ran out of sparking wine for Mimosa by mid week, pecans for the breakfast cereal bar also disappeared. There is no junior suites at this resort. The beds are actually 3/4 and pushed together to form a king size bed. Lounge chairs in high demand during reading week. Beaches has little beach umbrell[... read more]as and again chairs you had to claim by 8 am or you were out of luck. A la carte restaurants good, food tasty and service impeccable. Area to watch for are uneven cement around the pool ( I fell hard). Lighting poor at night time, so be mindful.

Nice hotel
Nice, but we noticed a bit of shabbiness in our bottom floor room and on the grounds. It felt like a nice resort that is aging. I have to give credit, though. We expected worse, after a terrible hurricane shredded the area just four months prior, and caused flooding throughout the entire resort. There was barely any sign of the damage this resort incurred. These poor people must have worked around the clock for months, to restore it all. We enjoyed our stay, and our every need was seen to....no [... read more]complaints from us!

Good vacay with the Famiglia!
We stayed at RIU Los Cabos from Jan29-Feb5 2015. Overall we had a good time! Lately I have been staying at RIU resorts because I love RIU! This resort I found to be huge and beatiful ! I was in building one which was far from the beach. First of all there are no elavators!!!' I travelled with my family and parents who are approx 80 yrs old and they found it extremely tiresome! I specifically asked for ground floor for them but ended up on 2nd floor which was 3 flights of stairs. The beach was sw[... read more]im at your own risk!!! The waves are eztremely strong pulling u back in ! The food was great but repetitive! Asian and Mexican a al carte was nothing special. My room was clean and staff are super super friendly!!! Amazing!
Fantastic week away with friends! The Santa Fe has a great party atmosphere, lots to do, the grounds are beautiful. This is my 4th time in Los Cabos, twice at the Palace and twice at the Santa Fe. Definitely recommend this hotel especially for younger couples and groups of friends!
