I wasn't that happy there

The main office was great. Put the Platinum suite smelled swampy because it was right there at the swamp so we could sit out side at all near or rooms. and the pools where dirty big time so we went to the beach and that was ok rocky but ok.

Beautiful resort!

Hotel was beautiful, clean, great variety of food. Hotel staff were exceptional! Mini bar always stocked and room cleaned every day. Beach is clean, well kept. Easy to book restaurants but accommodated without reservations. Food was plentiful and a great variety. Must do the Japanese restaurant where the chef cooks at your table. Did the ATV through the jungle, zip line through the jungle and into the cenote ended with a snorkel in a cave... $99 double ride ( lunch included ) ... booked with  [... read more]the tour group at the hotel. It was a relaxing place. The pools were wonderful and relaxing. you can be with the crowd and you can swim and relax without feeling board or tired. the food was good and the rooms clean and big..

rooms were clean and well organized. the activities not bad, need variety of activities not only for adults but for children too. lots of walking which is not bad, good exercise. lots of stairs and not much elevators specially at the Lobby where the theater, some restaurants and the WiFi. where we are tired to go up. The resort and the pools are clean always I like to go back for the pools but not the stairs.

Beautiful

The hotel it's huge and beautiful and the beach it's really nice as well. The stuffs they are hard worker they are try to do the best for you! Anyone can say negative comments about any hotels or resorts if they want! I will do not because I have a such a good time and a wonderful memories! So this hotel my high recommend who never been there! Real five star!

Wonderful Vacation Spot!

The hotel is very organized. When we arrived, they had a presentation set up along with refreshments. They have a great staff and good customer service. The rooms are nice and clean. Beautiful resort and the restaurants are good, especially the Mexican and Teppanyaki! The food in the buffet is great, lots of selection. Beach is beautiful and clean. Free wifi in the lobby. I had an amazing vacation and would definately go back to this resort.

Best trip and resort!

My recent stay at the Grand Sunset Princess exceeded my expectations. Everything was taken care of, ran smoothly and great guest service. I was there for a family wedding and they did an amazing job. Was one of my very best holidays ever! Beautiful resort! Thanks!!

Great holiday

My daughters and I enjoyed our week at the resort. The food was delicious , so many restaurants to choose from. The swim up room was the best. The beach was perfect for taking long walks. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We would go back again.

Great Vacation !

This was my third trip to the Mayan Riviera but my first time at this resort. Our family prefers large resorts as there seems to be more of a variety so this resort appealed to us in many ways. The grounds are beautiful...lots of wildlife. If you are a pool person then you will love it here as there are many to choose from. I am a beach person myself and although I loved the beach area and setup, I did however find some smaller rocks in the water. I would only give the beach an 8/10 for this rea [... read more]son. The rocks are manageable, but I just don't like it. We stayed in Playacar at the RIU last year and the beach there is a 10/10. The Playacar area in general has the best beach strip in the Mayan. Now for food. We were happy with most of the choices but I found the food at the RIU last year to be a step up in variety and quality. All in all I would give the food an 9/10. Overall, the vacation was a 9/10 for me. We had great value for our money and as I mentioned the resort is beautiful.

Good resort!

I really enjoyed my stay at the Grand Sunset Princess from April 24 - May 1. I travelled with my boyfriend and our other couple friend. The grounds were kept so clean and they workers were always cleaning up which was nice to see. There were a lot of pools to chose from and you could always find a chair. The rooms were great the only issue we had with our room was that I asked for a king bed and was given two doubles... I'm not a big complainer so we just pushed the two beds together to make a g [... read more]igantic bed. The shower leaked at the bottom as well but nothing towels couldn't fix. Our room had a musty smell but we just dealt with it for the week as we didn't spend that much time in the room anyways. Now onto the beach... why I go on vacation! It was great lots of chairs you could find without an issue. However the water isn't the cleanest as there is a seaweed problem in the Riviera Maya they really do a great job in the early morning hours to clean off the shore line. I strongly recommend booking the a la cartes that your airline provides to you as they're so delicious! The buffet food is good as well and there are a lot of options to chose from and no one should go hungry. We went to the steakhouse, Mexican, and the Sunwing inclusive restaurants and they were nothing short of amazing. Overall this trip was amazing and I will be returning to Mexico in the near future.

Terrific Resort

The resort was amazing. Everything was above expectation, rooms were clean, grounds were beautiful, loved the monkeys. The ocean area never lacked chairs and the beach was terrific. Lots of activities, lots to do or just laze around. What we were disappointed with was the water spa. A lot of the buttons didn't work, and no one came with us to explain what the water jets did. We also found that the shuttle service was not frequent enough. It took 7 minutes to walk to the main lobby but it took th [... read more]e shuttle 15 to 20 minutes to pick up passengers. There was a lot of waiting for the shuttles and then by the time the shuttle arrived, it was full. Probably would have been better if the shuttle service was more frequent during busy peak times. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay.

Excellent Hotel

This Resort was fabulous, very clean and everyone was very helpful, Israel Loria was absolutely amazing, he was not only funny but tried his best to accommodate your every demand. He always had a great big smile and willing to listen. However there was an awful lot of walking, which was good because you could eat all you wanted.

Nice, well appointed suites. Lots of Canadians...a plus!! Platinum section worth upgrade with good value with own pool . bar, lobby, lounge, concierge etc. Staff excellent, very friendly a wanting to please with excellent service. Beach shore was nice, but rather rocky in water for swimming. Food generally quite good, plenty of selection and most specialty restaurants generally good. Only negatives, since previous visit (5 years ago): Platinum section not adult only, (was before) so Platinum po [... read more]ol area noisier with small children when main pool(s) are very close by; Requested King Bed Suite with reservation, but got 2 double beds...staff tried to fix best they could by pushing together, but not the same; Reservations for specialty restaurants rather difficult to obtain, often despite the restaurant being over half empty at times and days requested (rumor was staff shortages forced hotel to restrict availability to maintain service level. Maybe cost containment measure, don't know. Perhaps Platinum guests should get better access at least. Usual hotel problem of guests holding pool chairs with towels all day, when seldom if ever use those chairs, loungers. 7 a.m.most desirable seats, despite big pools and lots of loungers, are 'taken' with towels, but empty. Must be a better way. Wife enjoyed spa, massage. Overall very good value, solid 4 star.

Great weather

The hotel management staff were pretty useless when it came to a problem. They did nothing. The service staff for the most part were excellent when they weren't walking off the job, I believe due to management issues, or when they weren't stealing from your wedding function.

Great time

Beautiful resort, wedding department needs someone manning the emails everyday as it's frustrating for a bride. Also, wedding department needs a dress rehearsal for the weddings to ensure song placement etc as mine was totally backwards and one missing. Kid zone looks awesome!! Wish the pools were open til 10pm as most excursions end at 6:30pm and there just isn't time to cool off after supper.

Huge resort with swim out rooms

The resort was beautiful, very well maintained and very clean. The restaurants were always filled with fresh food and wonderful servers eager to help. Our only complaint is that this resort is almost too big and the tram is non existent. Lots and lots of walking to get to the beach, pool or restaurants but other than that it was awesome! The swim out rooms are amazing and definitely worth the upgrade!!

Fantastic Resort!!

It was beautiful, the food was great, so was the service. Beds are comfortable too. There lots of excursions to enjoy, and lots going on at the resort for the active person. I would definitely consider booking another trip there.

Beautiful Resort

The grounds are well kept and cleaned regularly. The buffet was amazing, so much so that we didn't book our last la carte restaurant. The staff was very helpful, and responded to calls immediately. My suitcase was damaged at the airport, and when we requested maintenance come with a screw driver and hammer, they responded in 10 minutes. The bus boy upon departure was also prompt. All wait staff was polite. The one complaint I did have is with our room. We booked a swim up, which was beautiful, h [... read more]owever the room was full of mold. I requested we be moved, and we were immediately, however, the next room also had a mold issue. As I have allergies, I was very sensitive to this, and would not recommend paying for this upgrade. Speaking with other travelers in different types of rooms, they did not have this issue. The resort is combined - Sunset, Riviera, a family section as well as a small adult section. The swim up section is not restricted to other guests, and thus the pool area attached to your room can be busy. There is no open air dining. There is a beach area called "Chill Out", but it is not all inclusive. The lobby area is the only evening area opened, and this is a very large resort, so you need to enjoy a walk after over indulging.

Grand Sunset Princess

Hotel was more than expected: 1)quick friendly check in, 2) rooms had everything you needed and clean, swim up was a bonus, 3) great selection of food in both the buffet and a la carte, 4) beach was fairly clean and a little rocky but very nice, 5) lots of beach chairs and shade, 6) excellent staff willing to make you trip enjoyable. Our only complaint was our bus did not show up for late check out which was extra $15 each! Overall would go back to this resort in a second!

Lovely Resort if you stay in Platinum or Villas

It was loud in the regular section, but more peaceful and relaxing in the Platinum section. Spend the extra $ as it's worth everything you get, including better location for your room, private beach and pool area, concierge service, etc.

Still a great hotel.

I had travelled to the Grand Sunset Princess in 2010 and six years later it was pretty much the same as I remembered with a few slight changes. Service is excellent. The buffets aren't perfect but definitely edible. The a la carts were much better. We did the Steakhouse, Asian and Italian. I would recommend all of them. The biggest difference since 2010 for me was the Platinum area. When we were there in 2010, Platinum was adults only. The pool area was quiet with lots of places to chill. Now it [... read more] is rammed by 8am, with lots of kids running around. I only learned when I was down there that the adults only section is now at the Yucatan side. The Platinum still has its perks though; private bar, concierge etc. but if you want the full experience with private beach area and adults only, consider the Yucatan. The big pools are still a lot of fun for people that want to let loose a bit. Bartenders were great and very entertaining. Also the 24 hour sports bar was the most lively one I've seen at any resort and loads of fun. The only negative I could say is the ocean swimming. Lots of rocks to cut your feet. Bring water shoes. The only place I found with less rocks was the south end of the beach, in front of the pay per use Beach Club (which by the way was well worth the 150 pesos per day). Great resort and I will visit again!!
