Musicians were very good; magician and dance troupe were most entertaining. Snorkeling was good. Buffet is open to flies, birds, and cats. Watch your food, because the birds are. My bathroom smelled like a sewer on most nights; not during the day.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Great time

The resort was a great time where we met some amazing friends who will be life long. Good food and okay beach but stunning pools to make up for it. Definetley will be going back in the future.. see you soon!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Puzzled?

Beautiful grounds, however, all else unfortunately lacks greatly. Very mismanaged. First two days no bread products, however, surprisingly had an abundance on our last day of vacation? Always running out of varied types of alcohol in certain areas, but in stock just feet away at the next bar. Rooms smelled musty. TV and internet kept cutting out throughout the week. At one time had no TV and internet for two days? Staff very uninformed and more than a few were very exhausted. Bartender made me a [... read more] margarita with rum? I think we were there at a time of short supplies. Very unfortunate because I would have gone back but can't risk it.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: A Pleasant Surprise

Hotel has many public seating areas, great coffee bar, rooms were clean with comfy bed for Cuba, staff were great, nice pool, snack bar and beautiful beach area. More than what we thought we would get for the price.

Playa Pesquero: Fantastic Resort! 5 star quality!

My husband and I spent a week (7 days) at Playa Pesquero resort - Premium section (March 21 - March 28, 2025). First, if you're considering staying at this resort, Premium is the best way to go! Our flight was delayed 4 times and we ended up arriving to our room late. The room was massive and so clean! Our butler service delivered to us a late night meal because we were so hungry. The Premium restaurant was our favourite place to eat. The food was so fresh and tasty and the staff was so ea [... read more]ger to please! The Premium side of the beach was less occupied than the regular side and we had no issues finding shaded places to lounge daily. The gentleman bringing us drinks was quick and friendly. When not at the beach, we spent time at the Premium pool, which also was less occupied than the regular side and the snack bar attached served amazing food (highly recommend the premium club sandwich). The staff at the Premium snack bar were so friendly! Our room was the best room we have ever stayed in while visiting Cuba! The outdoor shower was amazing and the jacuzzi tub was so relaxing after a day in the sun! My husband and I have been to multiple resorts in Cuba, but we are already planning to return to this one as soon as we can! Our stay was that great!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Amazing resort !

We just came back from this resort and can’t stop to talk about it . From the hotel room(perfectly cleaned every day by Lia , fridge stocked up ) Dining ( lots of it on daily buffets, the bread was not always there , but the yummy cheeses made up for it . We were never hungry . Tried many authentic Cuban dishes . Also we had dinner @ Japanese restaurant and that was amazing . We had 2 special lobster dinners with sparkling wine and a beautiful music . And again lots room to sit . And finally the staff . Where to begin ? We love them all ! They smile and are always ready to help. They really care to make people feel good and extra special . Thank you very much for that ! We very much appreciate you . The only thing I missed is nightly entertainment. There is a theatre ,but I never seen anything happening there . Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: 5* RESORT

We had a wonderful week in the elite section of this resort. The concierge service was exeptional as was the modern room. The beach was really nice and the pools were clean and warm. The food was plentiful as was the wine and rum, but there was no fish or shrimp. But there was lobster every day at the elite restaurant. We hope to come back again.

Playa Pesquero: Been back many times we love this place!

I think this was my 6th time back to Playa, my parents have been going for 20 years and have taken us a few times and my sisters, and I have returned with them many times since. We went last year and for the first time brought my son, this year they are in much better shape staffing and food wise than last year. My 4-year-old had the best time and hadn't stopped talking about it since last year. A new addition I loved this year was the fresh churros being fried each morning for breakfast, they were sooooooo good! Cant wait to be back next year!!!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Great Resort

We just got back from a week at the Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin and did an on-premise upgrade to Premium class. The resort: It is beautiful, new and modern and well laid out, with the usual Cuban oddities. The week we were there was very odd in terms of resort occupancy. The Sanctuary area was fairly well booked, but the non-Sanctuary area of the resort was virtually empty. Close to empty pools, very few people. Not sure if this was because the North-American school breaks were o [... read more]ver or the general warnings about food shortages, but occupancy for the resort in general was very low (I heard 50%). This is the time we normally travel to Cuba and are used to it being prime season with full resorts. One good side-effect is that the price was very reasonable - we paid less for upgraded room (mini-suite overlooking the ocean plus Premium Service and Priority Elite on the plane) for roughly what we would have had to pay for basic travel/room at DR or Mexico. Premium: We upgraded to the Premium service and while fairly expensive, it was a game-saver due to the food situation (more on that later). The butler service was very good in the day (Heyli was awesome), the nighttime butler was pretty much useless. Food: Cuba is going through a very rough patch and it showed in a number of areas on the resort - primarily in the area of food. While the resort obviously tried it's best to work with what it had, the variety and quantity of the food was very poor. For instance one day there was absolutely no bread on the resort. I never saw any fresh fruit, and vegetables were restricted. Primarily the staple was rice and eggs. There was usually some chicken and occasionally beef or pork, but they typically ran out during each meal period. And of course there was always the staple - hotdogs (no buns) and sausage. The Premium service provided a-la-carte breakfast, lunch, and supper. We only used the a-la-carte breakfast once but almost exclusively used a-la-carte lunch and supper. While the a-la-cartes had restricted choice, the food was well-prepared and presented. TripCentral: We booked through tripcentral. I think they have the best website for easily finding travel packages for the dates you want. Once we paid we were assigned a travel agent who provided timely and helpful trip information and was very quick to respond to my enquiries. Sunwing: While we had 45 minute flight delays both ways (plus a longer delay leaving because one passenger didn’t board the flight - they were eventually able to track her down in an airport bar) but the flights were uneventful and the crews were outstanding (fun and personable). We paid extra to upgrade our seats to Priority Elite which gave extra leg room - extremely worth it on the long flights. The bonus was that we had priority check-in and supposedly priority baggage service. In reality the priority baggage service was non-existent. But the priority check-in at Halifax was much-appreciated. There was a very long check in line for regular seats but the priority line had no one in

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Our home away from home

Hubby and I just returned from two weeks at Club Amigo. We have been there many times and know what the issues are in Cuba at this time but we definitely did not have any problems at all. As always, the staff are super friendly and helpful, the resort is very clean, we did not find any shortages (except for rum, which we do not drink anyway), Plenty of wine, beer, spirits. Food was plentiful, you will not go hungry here. Nightly entertainment was wonderful. Weather was perfect and the beache [... read more]s are beautiful. We love this place and will definitely be going back again next year!

Playa Pesquero: Over 20 years, still love this place

Brought our grandson again, 4 years old, and had a wonderful week. Weather was perfect, food assortment was good and a trip to local animal shelter was worth the trip. Great event across the road with lots of food, drink and entertainment. We did the VIP to the airport on the return trip and got see Holgiun and enjoyed the air conditioning at the airport VIP lounge.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great resort

All staff members were excellent. The drinks were not watered down and they had expensive whiskeys. They made a lot of tasty drinks including mojitos, rum and coke, gin and tonic. There was less selection of food compared to my previous trips to Cuba. There was chicken every day and that was good. they also had the omlette station and pasta/stir fry stations. They ran out of bread after the first couple of days. There were no berries and most of the fruit was canned. The 24 hour snack bar h [... read more]ad amazing plantain chips. They also had good sandwiches but couldn't make them after they ran out of bread. Limitation in variety of food is to be expected in Cuba. There was plenty of drinking water and there were no power outages. The safe in our room didn't work but we didn't ask to have it fixed. The beach was breath taking but you should bring aqua shoes because it's rocky once you get in. A lot of people go there for the snorkelling. I would recommend bringing toilet paper and wipes to clean your hands as the bathrooms in the common areas weren't always stocked. We weren't close to the lobby which was good because it was quiet. There was a short cut to get to the lobby but we noticed it became wet and weren't sure if there was an issue with the sewage so we used the regular pathway on the sidewalks. They also have the carts that go around to help people with their luggage and they will give you a lift if you need. There was also a band that played in the buffet and in the 24 hour snack bar.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Nice Resort and Beach, Lacks Proper Food Otions

The lobby and café bar were my favorite spot to hang out at the resort. Amazing, hot cappuccino were enjoyed daily. The food options on the other hand were extremely disappointing There was no bread for 5 days and the only fruit option was papaya that did not taste in season.

Playa Pesquero: Fantastic resort!

We wanted to visit this resort for a long time and finally it happened in March 2025. We did not regret it, this is definitely one of the most interesting and most beautiful resorts in Cuba. The only complaint goes to the rooms, which would need to be renovated and the sleeping mattresses replaced. Also, the air conditioners feel damp and in some rooms they don't work. What I have to emphasize is the extraordinary food and the effort of the chefs and staff to please us despite all the difficulties and shortages that Cuba is facing. Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Second time at Costa Verde

Hello Trip Central I sent the following message to Jenn Black and I got nowhere: We had an hour blackout, plug in room blew out fuses, food in all restaurants were all the same menu and variety of food in Buffett was very limited. I paid extra to be in an ocean view room and I was disappointed. Barely see the ocean mostly see bush. WiFi is very bad and door key magnet erased if close to cell. Twice I had a long walk to reception to get new code. I am over 70 and had no way to get the golf  [... read more]cart. Hotel is on the good location close to the beach, grounds are well kept rooms are clean plenty food friendly staff serve you whit the smile , safe place best entertainment there is a something to do all day:)

Playa Costa Verde: Ok resort!

I have traveled to Cuba 15 times and I will be honest with my review. The hotel is clean but outdated and definitely needs some renovations. For example, the tiles in the pool needed to be fixed, rails on the balcony etc air conditioner was quite loud! We did have a power outage for 5 minutes one night out of the 7. The hotel does use generators for electricity. As Cuba does experience an intense amount of power outages . Please do not tip the staff with Canadian coins! They cannot use the coin [... read more]s and exchange them. Everyone at the resort was asking to exchange coins for dollar bills! The staff was friendly, there was no shortage of anything. Snack bar was open 24 hours! The buffet food was cold and every night same thing to eat. At times, there was no sugar! Bring your own just incase! A la Carte restaurants were quite good. Entertainment was awful at night and no fun organized activities during the day. The beach is beautiful, chairs always available! The beach has a bar but no music and very little activities organized for tourists. Overall it was okay for the price that you pay! Didn't expect much. I would give this resort three stars!

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Honest Review

Check in was very quick and the reception desk staff very nice. We stayed in a beautiful room on the third floor overlooking the beach. The room was kept very clean and the beds very comfortable. The grounds are large but walkable. They have carts that will drive you around. The resort didn’t appear to be full, however the pool was packed every day and didn’t seem big enough for the amount of people that were there. We always managed to get chairs at both beaches. We were disappointed that  [... read more]we couldn’t take out kayaks or go on catamaran rides. We were told that their rescue boat was broken so it wasn’t safe to go out. The drinks were pretty bad, so best to stick to wine or beer. The food was as expected. Omelettes or eggs for breakfast which were very good and Canadian bacon was good and very popular. There was only white loaf bread for toast. No selection of breads and rolls like at Iberostar Selection Varadero. Cinnamon loaf and homemade donuts were very good. Fruit was mostly Papaya, Gauva and Bananas. Lunch and dinner buffet was limited and repetitive, but it was well cooked and the buffet staff were all fantastic. Best dessert was the ice cream. Public bathrooms didn’t seem to be cleaned too often and a child was sick in the lobby one evening and it was over 20 minutes before it was cleaned up. I wasn’t very impressed on our first night sitting in the lobby and having a roving band come by our table. They played a song and immediately asked for “tips for beautiful music”. I think a better approach would be to have them playing in a specific area in the lobby, with a tip jar nearby. They were doing work at the resort while we were there. Re-tiling fountains and work on the waterpark. This resort is really lovely with a lot of potential but I don’t see returning to it in the near future.

Grand Memories Holguin: Beautiful Resort

This is our third time in Cuba. This resort is beautiful, fairly new, well kept and clean. Everything in our room worked as it should. The servers, housekeeping staff and management always had a smile and ready to help. The beach very nice. We did not stay at the Sanctuary but did upgrade to premium. Our butler, Julio was always available and arranged all of our al la carte dinners. Some issues - Premium upgrade (other than butler service) was questionable. We did not see any premium [... read more] only beach area or in the restaurants. The over 19 area was not well controlled with a number of youngsters and teens present. No maps available and not too sure which restaurants were open/closed. When we arrived we did not have a separate registration - again premium was to include this. On our last day, leaving the resort at 6:30, we went to the 24 hour snack restaurant to have a quick meal there they only had hot dogs and hamburgers but no buns, no pizza, nothing else. We were aware of some food shortages but the rest of the resort had availabilities, so this is a management issue. During our stay, after the weekend, the resort had no cola, Sprite, pop, no wine - very limited drinks menu. By Tuesday, they were restocked but not all liquors, so beware. Variety of food was limited. Pasta, chicken, cheeses, breads but were mostly the same every day. Would have loved to see more fish/seafood and variety! At the end of the trip we were bussed to the airport. When we got out of the bus we had to get our luggage out of the baggage area. My husband in his 70's should not have been the one to get the bags out of the bus for us and many others.
