Beautiful!

This was my second time staying in Cuba and when I first walked into the resort I was in awe. The grounds, buildings, and pools are all beautiful. The staff were friendly and the food was great - we ate lobster almost every night at the buffet. The beaches were beautiful and well maintained. Overall a really nice resort and I would definitely stay here again. However, in terms of night entertainment, there isn't much going on past 10pm. Great time!

Grand Memories is a very nice resort and the staff were awesome! The food was amazing with a lot of variety. We ate lobster 4 out of the 7 nights we were there. We did do 2 a la cartes while we were there and our family actually preferred the buffet. We had two rooms in the standard area that were a bit rundown but we did have running hot water and air conditioning. If you do stay in the standard area it is very quiet and a long walk to the beach! We had an awesome time and would definitely consider another trip there but would definitely stay in the superior section!

Amazing Resort

The resort had a lot of land, so there was a lot of walking. Beach was amazing. Pools were very nice, and food was very good for Cuba. The beds in the rooms are very comfy. Was really relaxing overall

Grand Memories Varadero:

This resort is being promoted and sold to customers by travel agencies alike as being a 4.5 Star. Very untrue.These resorts should be inspected periodically for example."every 2 years" prior to travel agents selling them to the general public so they are priced based a true star ratings. This resort does not barely make a 3 star at best. This wasn't just my opinion. There were many patriots that also was at the same resort that shared the very same opinion. Here are just a few examples: 1.No hot water for entire stay. 2.No face cloths for entire stay. 3.With out bath towels at times. 4.Septic odor continuously while A/C running in our room. 5.Room safe not anchored for theft. 6.Supposingly hot meals cold almost daily. 7.Main swimming pool had no water circulation for entire stay. 8.Main pool had buckets of crystal chlorine dumped in the pool by workers rather than put into proper chlorine dispensers for gradual dissolving. 9.Cats and dogs roaming inside and outside coffee shops etc.

Sun wing terrible

Vacation started like this payed for pee boarding seat section. .extra 60 dollars then at airport asked I'd we wanted elite seating payed another 30 each for exactly dame seating sunwing should be ashamed of them sells. .grand memories hotel well let's say not good fought to get clean towels 3 people in room with one bottle of water one can of sign and one beer for three people no service at pool can't find staff this is not my first trip to cuba maybe my 12 love the people food culture will go  [... read more]again but not with sunwing

Grand Memories Vacation

My hubby and I just got back Feb 19th and I must say I was afraid to read all other reviews that where bad about this hotel. First thing first : this is Cuba! be thankful you have sun and nice people around you. everyone is really nice at this hotel and always greeting you as walk the paths. My room had running hot water and the air conditioner worked perfect. The intertainment team was fantastic with always something to do. The beaches are clean and very nice. The weather was fantastic and the grounds kept clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good time. age group is more 20-45 due to lots of walking to get to different destinations. Fantastic Place with Minor Room for Improvement

The resort in general is fantastic, the employees great as well. However, the public bathrooms were in poor maintenance. No soap, no towels, toilets out of service for the entire 7 days we were there.

Very good Holiday

Grand Memories is a very nice resort and the staff were great, the room maid did a fantastic job and always made sure we were happy but the resorts is just to much walking for me. We had a lot of mosquitoes which were a pain. Beach is average, The food was fabulous lots of variety and good.

Great, short trip!

The resort wasn't overly large but spread out nicely. The beach was beautiful, along with the pools which were clean and fun. The staff were great and welcoming. Over all I and my niece (7) really enjoyed everything.

Grand Memories Veraderoo

Great time upgrade to Sanctuary big resort they can't keep up with so many people they try their best to keep people happy.I would commend the entertainment team best shows every night at 930 food go when it opens its hot ,rooms have problems with locks and doors pool foam parties are great fun you will find 90 percent Canadian s.if u want to book Havanna trip talk to the bell boy they will arrange private tour for 150 USD very safe too. Another good holiday in Cuba

This was our second visit to Cuba and Grand Memories (my husband and I stayed at Sanctuary on our first visit). The beach is very nice; the nightly entertainment is lacking, but there are a number of different activities to choose from on a daily basis and the disco at night that still make it interesting. The staff are helpful, friendly and accommodating, however I feel the staff (esp. Front Desk) could be better oriented and trained to direct/instruct guests appropriately (we got the Sup [... read more]erior Diamond Club package this time and found many discrepancies and conflicting responses with all we were entitled to for our stay). The resort as a whole is quite nice and generally well kept, however the common area washrooms are terrible! Much improvement is needed on keeping them clean and properly maintained. The a la carte restaurants are very good and we especially enjoyed our meal at the Cuban inspired restaurant. We were able to take a visit to Havana this time which was a fabulous. All in all a very enjoyable trip!

Not the best resort

Main pool was good. Some people we went with had many issues with their rooms - including no power for a couple days and a couple safes not working once locked. The beaches weren't cleaned and not very nice. As for food, there are 2 buffets (not always open at the same time) and during lunch time there were a couple days we were turned away because there was "no more", forcing us to go to the snack bar which takes over an hour most times to get any food. Nice Resort

We had a amazing time at Grand Memories Varadero, the staff was very helpful truth out our stay, beach was nice also the entertainment was great each night, our room was very nice and the cleaning staff went out and beyond to make our room very nice and comfortable the hold week on our stay. We had fun at the disco bar staff keep our drinks flowing an strong not water down. The trip to Havana for the day was amazing lots of history to see and the food was very nice in Havana much better that the [... read more] resort.

Grand memories I'd rather forget

First room that was offered to us had no toilet seat, patio door could be opened 2" ajar enough to release the chain that was holding it closed. After complain we got another room that was comparable to other ones. Tube TV's(20"?) had a picture that looked liked a 3D picture not watchable with bare eyes. All the card readers to the rooms dirty and not inviting. Rooms not too bad but looked neglected. Some rooms had no hot water, ours did. Nice vegetation, nice pools and grounds but some pl [... read more]aces a foul smell. Good service at the bars, basically no line ups. Beach was nice, but why not fix the volleyball net post for the guest to enjoy the game. Night entertainment not something that is really worth watching. Food at buffets not tasty and presented in a very unappetizing way. A la carte even worse. All plates and dishes had smudges as if they were not washed. Service at buffets terrible most of the time. Wine tasted watered down. There are better places to stay in this beautiful country. Will not go back to this hotel and do not recommend it.

Worst resort we ever been to!!!

1. check in over one hour. There were over 100 people long line up however only 2 front desk staff who really weren't efficient at all, so I could see all those guest's frustrations and anger....we were so lucky that we were at front of line. 2.room extremely dirty. there were couple pieces of bread and bunch of hairs on the floor and all dark color furniture surface was all white that I could write with my finger. there weren't beach towels nor bottle of water. next morning, I found there is  [... read more]no hot water, so we had to take cold shower. I went to talk with front desk, customer service desk, manager, sunwing staff and sunwing desk. finally they changed our room however again there was no hot water so we had to have cold shower whole time while we were there. 3. Long lineups for everything including check in, bars, money exchanging, restaurant booking, buffet restaurants, toilets, towel exchange station, etc... 4 Food awfull, we ate three things in a week that we liked 5 we all got sick and had the runs and bad stomach aches which we brought home and suffered for a few days. 6 If this is communism let democracy reign. Staff showed no drive for the better part. 7 Room service non existent, never changed our sheets nor pillow cases, towels even I left all towels on the floor so I expected that they will change but they picked up from floor and put them on the shelf so when I found that next day I left note with towels saying " Please change towels" then yes, they changed our towels to new ones but same time they took all change that we left in our room!!! 8 poor quality drinks, constantly out of ice. 9 most staff are very bad (rude) attitude and I understand and have compassion for them since there are not enough staff to serve all those long frustrated line ups but also I could see the communist attitude that they really don't care because they get same pay anyways doesn't matter of their performance. 10 we had so much fun talking about all those so many complains with other guests at bar, beach, and pool, for example, one night, a couple of ladies told us at bar that all toilet has no toilet seats so they have to lift their bums and most of the time no toilet paper. I told them that after my husband tried 5 different toilets looking for one has toilet paper and still could not find it so he had to go back to room,since then I always carried roll of toilet paper with me. This place is terrible, I hope other resorts will bring guests back but not this one. This hotel is in desperate need of proper hotel management, food and beverage management and housekeeping management. We are extremely disappointed since we paid $6,000 can dollar which is $1500 per person!!! It was total rip off in our opinion. therefor we'll never go back to Cuba!!!

Worst Holiday Ever

Stayed at Grand Memories Varadero from evening of Tuesday December 20, 2016 till late afternoon of Tuesday December 27, 2016. This was my first time travelling over the Christmas Holidays, but my 20th all inclusive trip. Sunwing conned us into purchasing the elite service with a perk of paying only $25 pp instead of $50 pp in the "spirit of Christmas" Come to find out that others in the elite seats didn't even pay. The 3 rd seat in our row was empty until 20 minutes into the flight the stewardess decided to move another passenger into the empty seat, a much larger man than my husband which then made my husband cramped in the middle seat and pused up against me in the window seat. Again, we PAID for these seats for comfort, others did not and WE were the ones who suffered, never again. Arrival at hotel took about 40 minutes. Easy comfortable drive. Reception was quick at front desk and we were given the $100 upgraded room I paid for daimond club. Apart from being a litle closer to the beach, the rooms all looked the same and were not furnished any differently. What was the $100 for ? Bathtub requires a stepstool to climb into and dare you use the handrail to pul yourself in or it would have come off the wall pulling the tiles down with it it was so loose. The handheld shower wand was also hanging from the wall, with a screw that should hold it attached to the wall right out of the wall. The shower head would not stay in an upright position to shower under becasue of this but dont despair the water was so cold, no hot water, you couldnt stay more than 1 minute in the shower anyway. This lasted throughout the week. Food was repetitive, tatsteless and COLD. Servers in hot stations were not friendly, did not smile, did not say Hola, Gracias or anything. Beach was cold and windy everyday, no fault of resort, but made for unenjoyable beach days, Day trip into Havana on December 24th was a bust with our car getting a flat tire, and tour quite boring actually. That and by 1 pm, I was so nauseaus I had to ask driver to cut our trip short and take us back to the hotel where I spent the rest of my vacation mostly in our room because I was sick with vomitting and diahrehha. I had hardly eaten anything since our arrival 3 days earlier apart from pineapple and some fresh grilled chicken. No alcohol, lots of tea. Bread was not fresh and any food in warming trays was cold. I continued to survive on tea, jello which was awful and some white rice. 2 weeks later, I am still suffering. Never went on a vacation and LOST 10 lbs ! You never know how many washrooms a resort does not have until you need one at every corner. This hotel could stand to put a few more in. Washroom by pool was always locked when I went to use it. Our flight home with sunwing was as bad if not worse. We asked if emergency row seats available, told yes, but that hostes "secretly would put us in a row with 3 seat ailse and window and block off middle seat so my husband could have extra leg room. why we beleived him I don't know, becasue alas we did not take the emergency row seat and instead were put in aisle and window seats in row 21, and then along comes a gentleman who was placed in the middle seat. No amount of complaining would rectify this. WE WILL NEVER FLY SUNWING AGAIN. WE WILL NEVER TRAVEL AT CHRISTMAS AGAIN. WE WILL NEVER GO TO VARADERO AGAIN and WE WOUL NEVER RECOMMEND GRAND MEMORIES VARADERO TO ANYONE.

Awesome time!

The hotel is beautiful, always clean and the staff are great! Food is ok, not great but that's Cuba. There is good selection and the Gourmet restaurant is awesome! Loved the entertainment pool! Only complaint was a bad experience with the complementary room to get ready for departure after checking out but overall would go to this same hotel again!

Amazing Getaway

This hotel was good. Staff are excellent and very nice. Beach is beautiful and close. Food was good, all sorts of stuff...even for the picky eaters. I will definitely be booking again in the next year with my children

First Trip to Cuba

Nice Hotel and people...but too many smokers to enjoy the outdoor evening events. No problem with the room and when toilet wouldn't flush they sent a repair person right away. I preferred the restaurant dinners to the buffet dinners and you have to register early even though they didn't seem that busy...
