This resort was more than I imagined.

I arrived at 2 in the morning due to a delayed flight and bus drive from the airport was over an hour but I have no complaints. The people are welcoming, the food was fantastic, the hotel was fantastic and the beaches and activities were awesome. Saw dolphins early in the morning playing in the ocean from my ocean view balcony . The excursion to the mainland to interact with locals and enjoy the music and food and their history should be a must. The conversion from Canadian to Cuban pesos was re [... read more]ally high ($100Cdn for 70 pesos). All in all, it was a great vacation and I would go back anytime I get a chance.

Wonderful resort, great vacation!

We had a great time at this resort in Sept 2015. It was clean, the staff was friendly and we loved the beach. Always had chairs to lie on in the shade. Great food at the grills and the beach!! Would definitely go back.

Memories Paraisol Azul

Beach and staff were 5+*. Purchased Diamond Club. We would highly recommend this. Private lobby Bar with 12 yr Rum and champange, and lobster dinner in pool (shallow end) with contemporary band. Lobster dinner on beach 5+* (purchased) with spanish guitar and flute entertainment. We have been all over Cuba (4 & 5 *) and the service and beach here ranked highest so far.

Great but noisy

Big pools, amazing beach and Nice grounds but definitely too noisy : staff yelling on thé corridors, improvised party at 2am without explanations and loud music all day around the pool... Better go for party than as a family!

They said it because it was there slow time they don't do some stuff and half of the resort they close down for six months so on that aspect i think they need to rethink doing that because a lot of people were complaining because when you book a resort you look at all the amenities to see what they have for food, kids, entertainment they didn't have so people are not going to come back when they advertise all these things and when you go your bored and nothing to do because they decide not to do it because its there slow time. we had a great time regardless but only giving it a 4* overall it would have been a 5* if they had those things.

Haven't found a better resort.

Best time I've had in Cuba. The staff are amazing especially the twin waiters, George and Jorge from the dinner lineup. Food was amazing....beaches were phenomenal and breathe taking. The island is fairly new and is a great couples getaway. Ideal for families as well. Amazing nightly entertainment. It's better than Varadero in my eyes.

It was very nice !

Everything was excellent expect for the lobby and theatre bars ! They made there drinks SO strong I had to toss them ! They also didn't know many drinks just the basic ones ! But other than that it was awesome !

Relaxing vacation

The hotel and grounds are very well kept, very clean. A couple of things though I did notice some of the washrooms did not have toilet seats whether it be in the airport or the hotel. Mosquitos are really bad here as well, even wearing bug spray didnt really keep them off and are twice as bad in the theatre. Stay out of there if u can. Considering this is a 'family' resort there are no elevators. Which isn't a deal breaker but just turns into a pain in the butt when they put us on the top (third) floor for an oceanview room with a baby so every time we go out we have to carry a stroller, baby and beach bag up and down.

It wasn't great

I went away with seven of my girlfriends and was disappointed. The rooms were very old and the food was just ok. Besides getting stung by jelly fish daily the water was beautiful. Will never return to Cuba

Best beach ever!

The hotel is okay, and the people were very friendly. But poorly managed. I had requested ground level. 1st room was upstairs. The room we moved to had no telephone, so no wake up calls, Toilet not working right for 5 days. Many visits to front desk, not much help.

Great people and amazing beaches.

Great people amazing beaches decent food but rooms needed maintenance and repair. We came for the beaches and experiences our room was just for sleep so it was overall a great experience. Would definitely come back again. Just to see the people again... Well the beaches too!

Amazing beach and staff!

The resort is huge ! The staff is great and the italian and mediterenean a la cartes were the best ! The beach is breath taking and always enough chairs. My only complaint of the vacation is mosquitos make sure to bring OFF!

Not a 4.5 * Resort Falsely Rated

From the time we arrived at the airport until the moment we left the hotel things were bad. On May 1st the hotel Changed ownership. The staff were unprepared and it showed in bad service and horrible food. The hotel refused to acknowledge our diamond club status until the day 13! Our room was very outdated and not serviced regularly, including not restocking the minibar. All staff especially the bar tenders expected tips or wouldn't give you service. Only one area had minimal air conditioning. Staff were more interested in braids that childcare. The only plus to this hotel is the beach. It is accurately described. Soft white sand and tourquise water. There is absolutely nothing to do at this resort except swim and drink unless you take a tour off the island. This was our 5th trip to Cuba. First time to Cauo Santa Maria and last time. We will never return to Memories or Cuba.

Great place!

I had a great time at Memories! My room was clean and functioning, the food (including À la cartes) was great, the Catamaran excursion is highly recommended and the beach is unforgettable. I'd go back tomorrow.

Disappointed

I did not feel the 4&1/2 star rating was accurate. While the beach was gorgeous it was the best part of the resort. This was our third trip to Cuba and this was the first time we were disappointed. The service at the hotel was slow and most of the staff were not as friendly as at the other resorts in Cuba. The staff didn't seem to be at all happy to serve us. It certainly was not to the standard of other 4 star resorts we've visited. The food left a lot to be desired. The buffet had the same foo [... read more]d every day without much variety. The al la cartes did not have the food items that were listed on their menus. The room was comfortable and clean however there was mold and mildew on the ceiling above the tub. We heard from other couples who had visited this same resort in previous years that the resort's overall service and food had deteriorated. Needless to say we were quite disappointed in the resort and wouldn't choose to return there.

Best Beach Ever!!!

The resort was well kept, but could be a little more clean in the rooms. There was some mold issues in the bathroom. The food was okay. The staff were very friendly and tried to help whenever they could. The beach takes the golden award, flour like sand beneath your toes. It was so clean and well persevered i could have stayed an a box and been fine. Greatly priced for the quality you got.

Amazing Resort

This was our first vacation south and we are glad we book this resort it was totally amazing the beach and resort were absolutely beautiful. They had a great variety of food selection so there was something for every taste.

Won't go back to Cuba anytime soon

The beach was amazing! Rooms were basic. We traveled as a family of 5 - it was tight! Mosquitoes!!! BRING SPRAY! Food was the same, you don't go hungry but you are never satisfied. Although,Italian was tasty! Bring a refil cup - the cups are super small and ice is rare. Cappuccino in main lobby was superb! Employees work for tips - it is an expectation. If you are a beach goer, you must visit Cuba at least once. Go knowing Cuba's travel standards are not the same and enjoy some R&R. Don't bring your device. We chose Cuba based on price, I wish we paid a little more and went to DR.

First stay has much better "memories" than second

My friend & I went to this resort last year during the first 2 weeks of April and we loved it. We returned this year during the last 2 weeks of April expecting that same great "ambiance" feeling however lots & lots has changed. My favorite last year was that at night in front of the "theater" there were different live bands playing music after the "nightly shows", we got to see only one (after shows) and they played for maybe 15 mins. Here are a few things that were not there this year, an "ice  [... read more]cream" truck on the beach to give u treats, guitar players on the beach to serenade you, mojito bar near pool (not opened once in our 2 weeks), no music on the beach in the afternoon to name a few. We did many "à la carte" restaurants and most were real good. The beach is just amazing (can't change that...lol). The staff on the Paraiso lobby bar are quite nice. I cannot "not" recommend this hotel as what is important to me may not be important to you and we DID enjoy our much needed holiday. We traveled via Sunwing once again and all went well. We reserved through Tanya at tripcentral.ca this year also. Buen Viaje !!

Rooms were clean. No tap water day we arrived.service was sometimes late but good. Food was not great. People and service were nice. Absolutely beautiful beach. Enjoyed walking everyday despite weather. Not kept as clean as could be. Hit beginning of rainy season so got more rain than expected but that's out of anyone's control.
