Disappointing second visit to same resort

Well, our rule is not to go twice to the same resort, as typically second trip turns out yo be worse- for some reason standard drops as the time goes by. We had to do this trip as my daughter and her fiancé met in this resort 2 years ago. The visit was disappointing as the service definitely got worse. The beach and the ocean are beautiful- the nature did not disappoint - but people did. I have reported 8 times remote was not working ( for already such a small tv, we could barely see it) it’s [... read more] in the room 7210- I bet it still isn’t fixed; balcony door could not lock, two days in a row we did not get towels, room was not cleaned ( moth behind the door was there for 4 days); food in the buffet was spoiled ( almost every night something was stale and spoiled), bread was dry and hard like a rock, butter bowl was regularly empty( and would not be filled till requested), cats were allowed inside the restaurant, bar service was inconsistent ( things were available depending of who worked); entertainment in the lobby was minimal ( 1 night out if 6); catamaran trip we purchased was very disappointing - definitely not value for the $$- we were on the very small boat and taken to beach that was full of garbage(!!)...these are just some highlights of the trip... the stories shared by at least 6 families we met were as long list of different type of issues ( flood in the room,blood on towels, dirt etc)

Enjoyable holiday!!

We had an amazing week in Cuba! The beaches at Cayo Coco are the best we have seen in all our travels south. The people were very friendly and spoke English very well. The food was plenty, just not the variety we are so used to having in an all inclusive resort, but for what we paid we all agreed we had a great holiday in the sun & sand!! The best part, only 20 minutes from the brand new airport!!! Linda Cameron

Great Location but disappointing staff

I loved this resort, partying all night with friends and sleeping in a surprisingly great room with water pressure and no bugs. The only issue was the uninviting staff, aside from the lobby bartenders who were loads of fun. The food was definitely not great but I was too busy having fun to care! At night the resort can be a little boring but a nightclub is just a shuttle away where I spent 5 amazing nights getting loaded.

Cuban resort

The beach at this resort is breathtaking. The food isn’t great as it is Cuba but I always found something I didn’t like that we had one beach towel for the whole week. The entertainment staff was great and very friendly

Below Average

The staff is five star, the hotel is negative 3; thus, the generous 2 star rating. Rooms were in really rough shape, we saw 30 plus rooms in our group plus our own. Sheets and towels in terrible condition, not very clean and some horrendous stains. Fortunately, we were forewarned and brought a suitcase with our own brand new, pre-washed linens (sheets, duvet, two sets of towels, toilet paper and cleaning supplies; including rubber gloves, wet and dry swiffers.) MOST IMPORTANT: WE WOULD NEVER USE THE SERVICES, WE USE THIS TERM EXTREMELY LOOSELY, OF TAMMY BEAMISH EVER AGAIN. A PHILISTINE IN THE TRAVEL INDUSTRY. UNBELIEVABLE THAT ONE PERSON MANAGED TO ERR WITH ALL 68 RESERVATIONS. TOTAL INCOMPETENCE. HOPEFULLY TRIPCENTRAL AND SUNWING ARE SATISFIED EMPLOYING THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR IN THE TRAVEL INDUSTRY OR ANY GIVEN PROFESSION. JAYSAS, MARY AND THE HOLY SAINT JOSEPH; A THREE YEAR OLD POSSESSES A PLETHORA OF COMMON SENSE, INTELLIGENCE AND COMMON COURTESY RELATIVE TO THIS INCOMPETENT EMPLOYEE.

Hopeless Resort

We visited this resort for one week in late April 2019 for a destination wedding for my nephew. Rooms: The accommodation was rudimentary with sloppy painting, caulking etc. Walls and ceiling had many squashed mosquitoes on them. The hot water did not work for 3 /7 days, bath tub drained very slowly (likely due to sand in the pipes as there was no place near the beach to wash sand from your feet). Other members in our group had toilets that did not work or they also had no hot water for 1-2 [... read more] days. There is a swamp behind the resort which is likely the source of the mosquitoes. We were all covered in mosquito bites by the end of the week. The grounds are well manicured and the gardeners are very friendly and often will pick flowers for you or make cute flowers, hats or grass hoppers out of palm fronds. The walk ways are very poorly lit at night, I would advise anyone to make sure they know how to work the flashlight feature on their phone. There are umbrellas in the rooms but the front desk does not loan umbrellas to you if it is raining when you wish to leave the lobby area which I found annoying. Food- there are several restaurants on site but these must be booked well ahead and they have very limited numbers of reservations. All restaurants we booked at were only 30-40% capacity with many empty tables. Either they do not have the staff to run a fully booked restaurant or they are not interested in the business. One restaurant made us break up our group of eight into two tables of four. There was only about 1/3 of the restaurant occupied and they could easily have put two or even three small tables together without impeding the circulation in the room but they would not even consider this. I found these type of ridiculous service rules infuriating. The food at every restaurant we ate at was mediocre, no "wow" factor. The cafeteria provides meals for breakfast, lunch and most dinners (as there are so few reservations available in the restaurants). The room is stuffy, dark, smokey at times (from grills working) and noisy. Generally the food is mediocre and repetitious however some of the grilled foods prepared for you while you wait in long lines were hot and tastey. It was not unusual for them to run out of things like bread which may not be back on the menu for 2-3 days. In the 24 h snack bar I ordered a pork sandwich which arrived with no bun as they ran out and the pork was very dried out and gristley. My husbands hot dog was served as a weiner on a plate for the same reason (no buns left), the service was incredibly slow as there main focus is serving alcohol. Beach- Beautiful view and lovely beach with beautiful sand and gentle waves. The palm frond umbrellas on the beach are in good shape and offer good shade. There are an abundance of beach chairs which are reasonably comfortable. There was a snack bar close to the beach to get drinks and some grilled food which was tastey and convenient. Outings: Some of our group did a day trip on a catamaran which included lunch and snorkelling and they really enjoyed this. I and my husband did a bus trip to the cities of Moron and Ciego del Rey. It included a brief visit to an alligator sanctuary which was interesting, a visit to a freshwater lake for a motor boat ride which was a nice break from the bus but not terribly interesting. We were unable to visit the sugar can processing plant for reasons that were not clear. Driving across the island and visiting the town gives you an idea of how most Cubans live. There are many historic old buildings which sadly are in terrible condition as there is no money to repair them. The high light of this trip was visiting a small local metal work shop where they made small sculpture, jewellery etc from recycled metals eg old cutlery. The guide on this trip (Marciano) was very knowledgable and interesting and I would consider him the highlight of that outing. Check out day was horrible as checkout is at noon and our flight home was at 10:30 PM with the bus picking us up at 19:30. It was a very hot day with no air conditioned room to wait in so we had to camp out in the lobby. Some of our group extended their check out to 16:00 (the latest possible for $11 pesos/hour) so elderly guests could rest.

Beautiful resort

The resort was Beautiful lots to do wasn’t overly big the pools were good the ocean was amazing very clean. The food wasn’t too bad you could always find something to eat. It’s also the end of the season. Accommodations were very good. The staff was amazing. I definitely would recommend it and I would also go again. The weather was good only had one storm at night but it was amazing to watch. Thanks

Beautiful Resort

This is the only resort I have traveled to twice. Staff are wonderful here. Best pool bar tenders I have ever seen. resort is clean, and beach is spectacular. Staff even brought a large television into the lobby so we could watch game 7 of the Toronto / Boston hockey game. We had a truly amazing vacation. Alan

Wonderful Trip!

Amazing trip overall but probably will not return as too many issues had come up. They messed up on one of our reservations, we discussed the issue with the hotel manager and they were great and fixed the issue.The pool bar could be open a little later. There was a bug issue in our room as well as our friends room at night time, they came through the window and we had to have fumigation in order for them to not come back. Also, we received TripCentral cards for bonus cards that we were unable to [... read more] use worth $100 each. We attempted to use it at the VIP lounge in Toronto but they were closed, we tried to use it on an excursion but they did not know how to use it in Cuba. Made memories but most disappointing due to the resort

I spent a decent amount of money to go on this trip and I did not get my moneys worth. Would NOT recommend to: Non-smokers, People with allergies, people with epilepsy, ablutomaniacs (clean freaks), people with entomophobia (fear of insects), and anyone who is wanting a higher than a sub-par vacation Would recommend: Smokers, people who are fine with a sub-par vacation Pros: • Beaches are beautiful • Gardens are well maintained • Rooms are spacious (Junior Suite) • Staff a [... read more]re friendly • Omelette guy is a pro (would recommend omelette guy with the red “Kiss the Chef” hat) • Food is plentiful (would recommend the omelette and lamb) • Micheal Jackson theatre event was very well done (Micheal Jackson didn't pass away, he just went to Cuba) Cons: • Pool bar closes way too early • Rooms are not cleaned regularly • They messed up our reservations • Giant beetles were found in our room at night (8 beetles in my room, 15 in my friends, the patio doors were closed, the beetles were double the size of my thumb) • Food is sub-par (avoid the cheese and pizza) • They don’t clean their dishes when they finish cooking a meal in front of you (frying pans) • People with allergies beware (make sure to let staff know but I personally wouldn’t trust it) • People with epilepsy beware (during theatre events they do not give epilepsy warnings and the screen behind the dancers flashed in rapid succession for over 2 minutes) • Theatre events were falsely advertised and need to be updated • People smoke in the lobby and within 5 feet of their children (no non smoking areas) • Loud unruly events when and where people are trying to get food (buffet area) • Alcohol is poured to be half of your cup (can be a pro for some people) • No variety of alcoholic drinks • For 3 days they did not have: Mojitos, Bloody Marys, Ketchup and more • One of the two 24 hour bar was closed for over a day (not the sports bar, the lobby bar was closed due to a flood of water bar tenders were walking on wooden boards before it was closed) • Staff look and act like they’d rather be anywhere but there (I found this mostly with the clerks at the front desk, and female bar tenders) • Rooms look like they need a good renovation • Not enough staff to help with cooked food (lines are long to get decent food) • Could not use a gift card that was meant for excursions • Washrooms are disgusting (went back multiple times to see if they were cleaned/condition improved: they weren’t) • Sports bar smells like urine (turns out a pipe burst, but they didn’t close the bar to fix it) Advice to the Manager: • Clean your washrooms! All of them are in terrible condition. Either make sure your staff is cleaning them, give them better cleaning products, and/or get them cleaned more regularly. • Teach your bar tenders more alcoholic drink recipes and the proper amount of alcohol needed in the drinks they make. • Close the Sports Bar and get the pipe fixed. No one wants to drink or be in a place that smells like urine. • Have a non smoking area. • Have the events at the theatre not in the buffet at 5:00pm. • Update the theatre event wall. It is falsely advertised and needs an update. • Have an epilepsy warning during an event with the screen flashing like that. • Fumigate the room a day before people arrive. No one wants their room fumigated on their vacation, let alone dealing with giant beetles in their room.

Our first time out of Canada!

Arrived at the resort with my 10 yr old daughter for our first trip out of Canada! Overall we had a great vacation! For starters, the resort is located at a great distance from the airport. Upon arriving at the resorf, we could not check into our room until 4pm and it was approx 11am. No problem. You can leave your luggage at the lobby where they are monitored, you get your bracelet and can venture anywhere on the resort. Pools were beautiful and well kept. The first couple of days i gave a tip to the pool guy for some chairs, after. That i simply asked him for 2 chairs and did not tip and thst did not seem to matter. Service at the bars were hit or miss. One time i sat there for 10 mins with my daughter waiting to be served while the 2 bartenders served anyone else who were arriving. I did say: i guess im invincible, to which i then go service. I believe in tipping for good service, not tip to get good service. Our room was decent. No major complaints. Of course our patio door didnt lock and was very hard to open or close but being on the 3rd floor that did not bother us. The chair outside on our deck was broken so we could not use it but no big deal we were barely in our room. We were in building 6, water pressure and water temperature was excellent and we were in our room during random times of the day. Our room was cleaned every day and whenever i needed something, i would simply write the cleaning lady a little note and we would return and it would be done! The buffet was alright. Some days were harder to find food that we enjoyed more than others but my daughter and i do not eat any sea food at all. We stuck to pasta and their fried rice station for supper and were content wkth that. Beaches are amaxing! This is all i can say. We had no water shoes and did not need them. Beds at the beach are easier to get then at the pool. The entertainment staff is amazing! They work very hard to make ur stay very enjoyable! Tbe grounds of the resort do seem outdated a bit but this did not bother us. The bathrooms near the pool were closed the entire time we were there as they are being fixed. The towel exhange place, we did not notice if it was open or not. If we needed a change of towel, again we simply asked our maid and we would get a new one. All and all i would return to this resort. I enjoyed it. And my daughter did also. The weather was amazing, the drinks were cold and the tunes were good!

Not what it used to be

We just got back from a 7 day stay at this resort. This was the third visit to this hotel. We went in 2015,2017 and again this year. We were very disappointed this year. I will begin with the negatives: rooms are aged and not clean. Our room was in block 3 ground floor. It was not clean. Stains and mildew on the bath curtain and in the corners of the room and bathroom. Toilet that you can only flush once every half an hour. And the worst thing was that two days out of the 7 there was no COL [... read more]D water in the shower . Only Hot boiling water. We had to call customer service who sent someone who told us “I don’t know why” then wait another 3 hours for cold water. Buffet was FULL of flies . We are positive that we ate at least 5 flies each. They were everywhere . On the tables, chairs, utensils, glasses, food... The prepared food in hot plates were inedible. If you want to get a decent meal, stick with freshly prepared fish and pasta but expect long lineups. We tried the Italian restaurant and service was great but food average. Bread and butter were the best. Snack bar food is bad. Not one good thing on the menu. Every morning when I went to reserve pool chairs , the tables by the chairs were full of drinks and sticky glasses from the day before. No one threw them out after the day was over . They were only thrown out around 9:30AM. Lobby tables and couches very aged and dirty. Tables were always sticky and never wiped down. Same goes to the lobby bar tables and chairs. No towel change service . Service exists but always closed . We could only change our towels once in our seven days and only after almost begging our cleaning lady for new towels . Pool is not clean. Mildew all over the pool walls . Smelly and dirty all the time. The good: smiles all around . Amazing staff. Amazing grounds but I wish they would use the money more on other things. sandy white wide clean beach every day. You could always find chairs. Beautiful water. Lots of seashells. Entertainment staff amazing ! They never stopped and very positive and enthusiastic. We loved the foam party ok the beach on Thursday. It was the highlight of our trip. Night shows are the same exact shows from 2015 and 2017. I would never go back again.

Beautiful Beach

My husband and I traveled to Memories Flamenco April 4th-11th/2019 .The beach ,lobby , bars and restaurants were well maintained, the grounds were beautiful .The staff were very friendly and the food was plentiful. The rooms need to be updated and maintained and the public washrooms were disgusting ,the smell from the washrooms were unpleasant and some of the time there were no toilet paper. Wonderful!!!

We loved the resort! The staff was friendly and the food was good! The pool areas, entertainment and beach was great! Our room was fairly good, but was a bit far to walk to the main lobby, etc. Checking in and out was smooth and they offered a place to keep our luggage after checking out and a shower! Loved it!

Amazing

Amazing resort

We were there March 26 to April 2 and I miss it already. Everything was great the staff very friendly, the grounds are well kept, the beach is the most beautiful one we have seen so far and food was good we always had plenty. We had made a request prior to going to be in building 1or 2 and we were in building 1 and Thank You si much for granting us that. Good!!!

They staff and entertainment was amazing.The beach was beautiful and the beer was cold. The food was not the greatest but we did not starve. We did not pay alot for the trip so we were not disappointed.

Great resort.

This resort, although large, has the most gorgeous beach I have seen. Lots of chairs with lots of Palapas huts. A wide white beach with amazing clear water to swim in. As per expected, the food was not terrific. Lots of it with a huge buffet but often not terrific. Always carry tissues with you as the washrooms around the resort often did not have enough toilet paper. The nightly entertainment was incredible. AMAZING BEACH AND STAFF

This was our second time to the hotel. We stayed in building 3, it was clean and housekeeping and the fridge were done daily. We always had water and water pressure 90% of the time. The beach has doubled in size since a few years back. So there's no more Coral. It is stunning and a great place for sunsets and swimming. There's a few bars at the beach and some games. The staff make the vacation way better. Thank you for being there. The nightly entertainment is above par. Been to approx 15 all inclusives and they have the best shows, don't miss any. The choreography is so great. Lighting on the resort could be improved. But they were improving path lighting when we were there. The shop on site had a wide variety of items, and there's a market 5 mins walk. 5 dollars for the bus to take you to a bigger market or Pilar Beach. We would return. Mm and try the rice at the buffet. The disco has been turned into a beautifully air conditioned sports bar, with fantastic service and drinks. They need to update their mattress.

Nice Resort

The grounds were beautiful. It was well kept up. The food was ok nothing spectacular. We didn't have great water pressure but the rooms were clean and fairly well kept up. The staff was very friendly especially the staff st the Buffet restaurant.
