Not good!!!

The food wasn't the greatest, had to be up at 600 am at least to try and find a chair with an umbrella by the pool and don't even bother by the beach. They have a severe seaweed problem, constant front end loader and bobcat work to try and clean it up just see it the next day just as bad! The grounds need a lot of work and and even more rework on the pool area falling apart and very dangerous witnessed a severe head injury there. Nice Resort

Beautiful Resort. Everything great once you are in your room. Had an "odd" greeting where a resort rep kinda toured you around, we stopped for a drink and then they hit you with the meeting/timeshare meeting/voucher. Uncool for a high end resort. All else is amazing.

Good potential, but not for beach people.

This is a brand new resort, with new everything (buildings, rooms, pools, etc.). They have nicely laid-out the resort to feel more intimate/cozier than it actually is due to the large number of people (so, good job here). The food was excellent at the buffet and the two restaurants we went to (Opa and Zen) and there are no advance reservations required, which is much nicer in my opinion. This was very convenient with 3 small children, especially when preparing to catch our early bus in the morning to get back to the airport. The water park and slides were wonderful for our kids. They played for hours, and LOVED IT. The BUT in this review is the beach... the REASON we went to Mexico was for the beach, the snorkeling, the sand, and the ocean play, and we were bitterly disappointed. There is a huge amount of seaweed on this beach, and the resort did very little to manage it. Vacationers from other resorts said their resort cleaned up their seaweed everyday, but the only section that I saw cleaned at our resort (in the WHOLE WEEK) was the Diamond Club beach area. This is supposed to be a 5 star resort (and I agree that the resort itself was very nice), but the beach was a 1 star in my opinion. By the end of the week, the same piles of seaweed were still on the beach (with new piles building up), but now the piles were starting to rot and had flies and bugs in them - honestly, disgusting. I couldn't let my kids play there (on the beach in Mexico that we specifically came to play at!). In addition to the seaweed, there was a lot of garbage in the sand - probably from the recent construction of the hotel - but a lot of it was shards of hard plastic - not great for walking in bare feet. Yes, I was very disappointed in the beach, and I'm usually a live-and-let-live kind of person. I definitely would never return to this resort, and I couldn't recommend it to a friend.

All around great resort!!

The rooms were very nice, if you have a chance take the swim out. The food was a excellent addition, never knowing from resort to resort. Must try Japanese restaurant show. Down fall of resort is seaweed on beach.

Excellent hotel- still some teething pains to over

Accommodations were superb as were the food choices. Staff were very gracious and accommodating and most issues were resolved quickly and efficiently. However, it does seem that most of the shade umbrellas are in the Diamond or Hideaway sections. I don't mind going down early to reserve an umbrella, but if there are few or none to reserve, that does become an issue. We didn't get what we payed for.

Overall the resort is good. All the facilities, rooms, restaurants look good, new and clean. The problem is with the service. The front desk clerk was careless and rude. In the restaurants not enough stuff. We have been tald to wait an hour for Agave Restaurant and at the same time half of the seats were vacant. The food in Agave and the Japanese restaurant was auawful. In the Sports Bar I liked the service but not the food. Steak House was great. Mediterranean Restaurant was good. Tex Mex Resta [... read more]urant was also very good. The buffet was really good. The food there was always fresh and tasty. I loved the coffee shop. Rooms are really nice. We were very unfortunate to be in a room where renovation was going close by. 3 out of 7 days drilling and banging was our wake up alarm. Pools are nice and clean. Plenty of beach towels everywhere. It's a bit hard to find good spot around the pool unless if you trow a towel at 7-8 am and reserve your spot. Beach needs more cleaning. There was a lot of see weed on the beach and the sand was not really clean. Entertainment was ok. Every night there was a live band and some funny games. There is a disco as well. Another thing: It's great resort for those who go there with kids. It's good for couples... and... it's not for singles. We were 3 girls and it was kind of a boring when it comes to new friends and communication.

Fantastic resort

We had a great week. We did not want to leave. The resort is a short drive from the airport. It is well laid out. Lovely rooms. The staff were great. The ability to go to any one of the specialty restaurants and not have to book ahead of time was awesome. The food was excellent at the specialty restaurants and the buffet. The buffet had a great selection of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was excellent musical entertainment every evening. A great resort to relax and unwind!

The annoying time share guys at the hotel give you a bad first impression but it is a great resort to relax and unwind. The food is amazing and it's nice that you don't have to make reservations. The resort has little shade because it is new. We had a room with a Jacuzzi on the roof which I would recommend for couples. Also ask for Hide Away so you can go to the adults only seafood restaurant.

Family vacation

Loved the resort! Travelled with my spouse and 18 month old baby. This is definitely a family resort. The kids water park was amazing. The lobby was a great hang-out place to have a drink or enjoy cappuccino and ice cream. The food selection and restaurants were all wonderful. The service was on the slower side. Our only complaint was the noise in our room during evening entertainment and disco when our baby was asleep. Great Vacation spot!

My wife and I travelled to the Royalton for the second week of February with our 8 month old infant and had a near perfect vacation. The resort is gorgeous and everything is brand new. The food was fantastic and offering 9 a la carte restaurants without reservations and unlimited vists was a great way to provide variety. The pools could be fantastic but given the resort is still new, some of them would be closed for work, the splash pad wasn't always operating and only one of the pools were heat [... read more]ed. The beach was great! Some prior reviews complained about constant seaweed but we didn't see any of it. The one complaint I would have is about the service at the a la carte restaurants. Maybe all of the staff are not fully up to speed, but we experianced very long wait times for food once we were seated and the hostess process struggled as well. Overall, once the restaurants improve their service, I think this could be one of the best resorts in Mexico.

Great for relaxing getaway

I had read the reviews and was worried but I guess it all depends on your mindset. My husband and I had a very relaxing vacation. I am thinking that most people don't put a lot of thought into where they are going and wjat they want from their vacation. We were happy to eat at whichever restaurant was open and had tbe shortest line. We loved the hammocks on the beach towards the family side. Great resort, not fully ready to open though.

Had a wonderful trip. No complaints. Important to know lots of finishing work going on all around resort like landscaping, repair work to things done badly first time. Lots of unmarked level changes on walkways, witnessed many falls because of it. Good food, clean facilities. Helpful staff.

5 star all the way

This is the nicest resort I have ever stayed at in Mexico, the Butler Service was fabulous the Diamond Club package is the way to go! Kids pools are on one side, more adult areas on the other but both close to each other so the best of both worlds.

Perfection in Paradise

The resort being new is fantastic. The grounds, facilities, rooms, pools and of course the food was amazing. The friendliness of all of the staff was welcoming. Everyone wore a smile on their faces at all times

Amazing Stay at the royalton

My husband and I are so glad we chose the Royalton for our vacation. The resort is absolutely beautiful and very modern. Our room was absolutely gorgeous with a loft going to our own private hot tub, overlooking the ocean. It was spotless all the time, housekeeping does an excellent job. There is a variety of restaurants to choose from and the food is awesome. Armadillo restaurant , the steak house and italian were our favourites. We will definitely go back to this resort and have already recommended it to friends who are now planning on going. Ladies don't bother bringing a blow dryer, they have big ones that dry your hair super fast.

Wonderful Resort

The Royalton Riveria Cancun was amazing. The hotel and rooms are very luxurious and beautiful. The staff was always pleasant. Very family oriented resort with lots for the kids to do. Highly recommend.

Big Beautiful Resort

We visited here in January and had a great experience. Everything was very clean and well taken care of, lots of staff around making sure things were always in perfect order. Entertainment staff very friendly. Great pools and dining experience. Had a 4th floor room and kids loved the jacuzzi on the rooftop. Next time would probably book a swimout room for kids to enjoy. No complaints from our family of 6. Well done!!!

Will be an amazing resort!

The food, services, entertainment, gym, rooms are all great! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. Downsides: still spots that are under construction and the beach needs to be cleared more often from seaweed. Other than that, it was fantastic.

The Beautiful Contemporary Royalton

The Royalton Riviera Cancun.Wow. Stunning to look at. The buildings are clustered close together,so not a lot of walking to be done.Pools everywhere! Wedding chapel very unique,a must see even if you aren't getting married there. Beach not the best

Very nice resort lots of repair to be done have to be caution walking on resort site.lots of construction man every day at lest 30 to 40 man.problems with sea weeds at beach.food very good nice rooms would go back
