Great Resort ☆☆☆☆

The Resort is big & well kept. Public washrooms have a standby maid in each one cleaning regularly. Service at all the bars is quick & everyone so friendly. Washrooms in rooms could use better plumbing. BeachTowel service could improve, although people tend to abuse. I kept same towels all week, they go on beach chairs, how dirty can they get!!! I dried them on balcony. BE A C H is S P E C T A C U L A R! 😍 Food is repetitive 😏 Would recommend 1 week maximum. Entertainment is good.

Amazing

This is our second two week stay in the last two stays in Cuba. We are making this resort our go to vacation spot. Everything from our cosy rooms to our morning cappuccino ,to baby powder white sand beach is perfect for our stay. The staff wait on us hand and foot from the front desk,dining rooms, entertainment,poolside...cannot say enough..so pleased!

Terrific!!!

First time visiting this resort. We had absolutely no complaints about our room and our chambermaid was awesome! The beach was beautiful and clean and never had a problem finding chairs. Loved the bartenders there and in the lobby. Clean resort, friendly staff and beautiful weather. That is what makes a vacation great.

Plage magnifique,chambre confortable,buffet varié,annimation de joure et de soirée jusqu a 11h pour tous et tout les gouts,bar exellent service rapide ou si vous préférer vous assoir une ou un serveur sera assez rapide pour vous apporter votre café préféré ou autre.A la plage vous avez un buffet tres propre ,bon service,et nourritures variées.Bar un serveur passe régulierement a votre siege sur la plage.A la piscine le 24 heures pour ceux qui aime dormir plus tard vous aurez un déjeu [... read more]né complet avec un bien meilleur café,service assez rapide ,frites un peu trop cuite tout dépend du chef,elle a déja passé mon bacon dans l huile a frire, pas mangeable mais il faut leurs dirent et le tout seras a votre gout, meme chose pour le sel et les oeufs et laisser donc un peso sur la table apres votre repas c est pas beaucoup pour vous mais pour eux cela fait toute une différence parce que meme ci c est un tout inclus ils ne recoive jamais leurs part des pourboires, n oubliez pas que leurs banque prend 44% de votre dollars et que 1 peso convertible correspond a 24 pesos cubain et ils recoivent par mois de Cuba 300 pesos cubain allors 1convertible qu ils partagent entre eux ca aide grandement.Les chaises de la piscine sont neuve contrairement a celle de la plage ,ils y a plusieurs bassins séparé, plus propre a mon avis que celle qui possede un bar .Ont a beaucoup manqué de serviettes de plage c était nouveau cette année, apporté vous une suplémentaire dans vos valises .Service a la clientele tres efficace au lobby on a aussi manqué d eau et d électricitée a la chambre mais c était de courte duré a différente période et ciclique a dif.complexe ca aussi c était nouveaux pour mo 3e séjour a cet hotel.Le chek out est a 3h.pm pour les repet tres pratique.Beaucoup de monde 2milles un peu trop pour le buffet a l heure de pointe mais il y a la 2e section ouverte matin et soir pas de clim. mais plus silencieux je le préfere.Les resto pas trop a mon gout mais ca fait différent, j ai aimée le Bistro et le Tex mex pas le chinois en fait 2 sur les 4 de la place central mais il y en a d autres ,le OFF chasse moustiques en pompe a été tres efficace apres la pluie abandante que nous avons eu a notre arrivés .Bonne vacances.

Mediocre resort

The resort leaves a lot to be desired. I will start with the food the buffet is awful. The Don Pepperone Medittereanean restaurant is decent. The Bistro is decent. The rooms are so so. The washrooms are run down. You can’t get beach towels unless you beg customer service. The one snack bar is nasty and the food made me sick. The beach is beautiful, but good luck getting the drink you ask for, run out of Chrystal beer often. Disaster! the no "pan" Spanish for bread - Hotel

The only nice feature of the hotel is the entrance lobby. It is unfortunate that many hard working staff members are subjected to the problems in management of this property. Unable to get bottles of water stocked in the bar fridge on a regular basis. If you are not in your room, it doesn't happen. Beach towels that look like they have been used to mop the floor. When you ask for a different one, they don't have any. Sliding doors and safes that don't work. How do you lock up your v [... read more]aluables in such a room? Shower floor that tilts away from the drain, bringing water out into the bathroom. No water to take a shower in the evening. X2 Buffet restaurant opens at 7pm at 7:10pm no longer accepting guests because its full. Line ups for 30-45 minutes to get simple slices of pizza, eggs for breakfast. The list goes on. In contrast, Melia Cayo Coco, 20 minutes by bus, on a day pass was excellent. Go figure. In summary, management has lost control of repairs and maintenance, and general service quality on this expansive property. Too big and too many guests to manage. And finally, yes, they often don't have bread, (No "pan") and or oil and vinegar for salads. If your brave enough to try this place, bring your own, including lots of mosquito repellent. Cheers!

Over all had a good time

The resort over all is nice a lot of walking the rooms are great but try to get a bottom floor they have to update there food in the main dinning area the sever are never around the food in the morning is great but in the evening it sucks also I think they should have sign as to what the food is.

Not great

Worst resort. Went 7 days without a toilet and my friend and I were both sick for the last 4 days. Maid didn’t give clean towels or make bed. Don’t drink water... not even water bottles they fill them with water and reseal them. Could go on and on. Do not go here if you want to have an enjoyable holiday.

Nice beach and pools but the rest was horrible

The resort is big and has decent size rooms, a beautiful beach and pools. Unfortunately, the week we went it was booked to capacity and they could not handle it. We all got sick as did most of the resort. They ran out of everything every day: towels, drinks, no bread, pizza or flour for 4 days. Service was slow, inconsistent.

Beautiful beach!

Please pick up your plastic cups BEFORE they blow into the OCEAN!!! The resort was huge so it was hard to find people if prior plans were not made. All through Cuba there is limited places WiFi is available. At this resort WiFi really ONLY works in the pool and in the lobby. The food was average and at times they did not have food in the only 24 hour snack bar. I recommend bringing snacks!!! The entertainment was good. The best part was the beach and the water. I will go again.

Great Cuban Resort

The beach and entertainment were the best thing about this place. Rooms and food were all above expectations. Only issue was the water pressure from shower, not enough towels and there was a smell in one of the buffets. Great resort overall.

hotel gardens and amenities - very clean administration surprisingly very well organized animation was outstanding through the diversity and performance restaurants a la carte made you feel at home the buffet had fresh good food and the personnel very friendly the beach was very good and we appreciated the food at the beach

Excellent atmospehere. Amazing beach and awesome entertainment!

Just came back from a week at Melia Jardins. Stayed 24-31 dec. Weather did not cooperate much the first 2 days but glorious after. Resort is large, I am told , the largest in Cayo Coco or even Cuba. So be prepared to walk a lot. There are shuttles running back and forth and electric bike Taxi services at night but you may still need to walk quite a bit. Stayed in block 6. A bit far from lobby and beach but quiet. Shortcut through the pool was good. Walking was tricky at night as you would n [... read more]eed some added lighting - we used our phones for flashlight . 1st night they had the massive party on the beach which was something else. Totally rockin and just incredible atmosphere. Blistered my toes from all the dancing:) Food: Its Cuba, and for someone who doesn't eat pork or shelllfish, i still was able to find things to eat and be satisfied. Yes, the food is bland at times but they do have salt and pepper at the tables and loads of sauces to drench your food with by the salad bar. Juices did leave much to be desired - bland and pretty much aweful ( papaya especially). Ala Cart restaurants. Hit and Miss. We went to International, Asian and Mediterranean where we only really enjoyed the Mediterranean - great food. Rest were mediocre at best. Avoid the pad thai appetizer at the Asian. imagine fried spaghetti with some sauce which leaves a bitter aftertaste in your mouth. Buffet had always something to eat and variety is sufficient for even the picky eaters. Pasta stations were always busy but if you go later, you won't wait for too long. Pools and Beach: beach is amazing. Water is a little cool as its December but you get used to it quickly. Water is clear and sand is soft. Not too many shells or corals to get in the way. Snorkeling is somewhat limited as there's not much to see. You will find the occasional starfish though. the beach itself is wonderful as it rests in this long bay protected from the waves. Great for long walks and getting your daily steps in. Lots to see at the points. very picturesque. For a high season, there were lots of spaces on the beach under the shaded covers. Lots of loungers for everyone. If you wanted quiet you could walk a little further toward the points where no one would be around you. Pools are great. We were on the right side of the resort - from the lobby ( East Side I think) where the music was loud and the pool bar teaming with people. Everyone seemed to have a great time. Entertainment staff kept it moving. Entertainment: What do you expect. its Cuba! top notch entertainment to say the least! The shows were breathtaking. Great dancing and acrobatics and showmanship. We loved the fantasy night where it seemed like a circus du Soleil production with story telling through ballet and intricate costumes. It was amazing to see the talent displayed on stage. After the show the staff set up an outdoor party with a DJ who kept us dancing until 11pm. So much fun. The animation staff was also superb, always getting you up and dancing. Special thanks to Darius! Rooms: Specious and with decent A/C. the beds were hard and pillows flat but, surprisingly, we slept well. Only drawback... the water activities center was closed that week. There was a notice on the door that due to winds exceeding 27km/h the center is closed. I was really hoping to use the kayaks and catamarans. oh well, something to look forward to next time. We really enjoyed our stay. We will be back!

Totally Recommend

For the price point, this resort is a great choice. The food is good, there is something for everyone, specially in the buffet. Rooms are basic, and very clean. The grounds are massive. And although you can still see the efects of the huricane (Irma 2017) they have rebuilt and cleaned up beautifully. Cant waiut to see how it will look when all the new palm trees grow back. Given the loaction, this is a perfect choice if you just want to come down for some R&R. We will definately come back!!

Something Sprcial

This resort takes the cake!!!!! Nothing to complain about, my 17th time in Cuba and I would return again and again to this place! What an experience!! Thank you tripcentral for the amazing deal and making it possible for me and my 9 family members to have the time of our lives!! Cant wait to go back!!!

Melia Jardines del Rey Cayo Coco

This is our second time to this resort with kids (currently 10 and 16), we were there 3 years ago as well with the kids. We have also visited Cuba several other times to various cities and resorts. For 7 days all inclusive from Toronto we paid $750/per person and I can say that it was WELL worth it. The food isn't amazing, but it's not bad (we were at Melia Buenavista 1.5 years ago for 4X the price and the food there was so AWFUL we actually came to dread mealtimes, so comparatively this was fan [... read more]tastic!) - and ultimately we don't go there for the food. The beach is the best: white sand, clear crystal blue (warm) water, the staff is friendly and attentive (front desk staff was especially effective and attentive, we had to switch rooms as we really wanted joining rooms and they did everything expediently to accommodate our needs - thank you!), the lobby and rooms are clean and very comfortable. This is not a 5 star "american" resort, but it is perfectly comfortable and we will look forward to returning with the kids again - the entire one side of the beach is completely undeveloped and a massive sandbar which is just stunning and private and gorgeous for both walking and swimming and sea-shell hunting. We have loved seeing Barmichi, the donkey, still there and well cared for. Thank you for a wonderful week! Tips: bring bug spray as calm or grey days, as well as some evenings get buggy. We stayed in building 21 which looks over the "family pool" and while some guests were loud at night, that pool was otherwise very quiet. We brought re-usable plastic mugs to use during the day for drinks so as not to be going through the little plastic cups which aren't terribly environmentally friendly, nor do they hold much liquid or keep it cold... We pre-booked our seats on the way home through Air Transat for $25/person and then took a cab for $25 which was about 20 minutes away - well worth is to stay a little longer on the beach in the morning, so we didn't have to take the bus 3 hours early to stand in line at the airport.

Never again!

This resort could be fabulous if the grounds were maintained, numerous maintenance issues taken care of and done effort was put into the food options. I’ll start with the positive... best beach I’ve EVER been to, great layout of the resort with multiple pools for every type of need or desire, no lack of pool or beach chairs with plenty of shade on the beach if you prefer and it is very close to the airport (15 minute bus ride) . I know people say it’s cuba but I’ve been to 3 other resorts in Cuba and have had decent to very good buffets. General maintenance was non existent. Simple bathroom door latches not fixed, concrete garbage cans crumbling and various other repairs that made the resort look run down. No toilet paper or hand soap in public washrooms 60% of the time. Grass not cut and litter not picked up on a daily basis...ie empty beer bottle on the lawn for more than 2 days. Most of the staff were pretty good except for the ones who creeped on my daughter while she was trying to work out at the gym every day. It got so bad she couldn’t go anymore. The nightly entertainment was boring. Every night was just a different dance theme.

Beautiful beach and nice resort

Overall it was OK.Beautiful beach and ocean front.Rooms were nice and spacious.Many of the staff were not friendly and ignorant which was a huge surprise.Food was ok but not what we expected. There was always a shortage of everything. No beer. No limes. No mojitos. No fries. No hamburgers. No chicken. No juice. Everything was "sorry, finish". Good place to visit

Second time visit within few years, resort represent good value for money spend. Amazing beach, awesome service, clean room and well kept grounds. Good but repetitive food, however at least 3-4 different types of fresh seafood every day and variety of fruits. Recommend.

Nice staff

Hotel facilities clean neat, service friendly. Big thumb up for stop using plastic straws. Ice cream and coffee are great! Weakness: a la cart food is very blend, meat are tough, flavourless, buffets lacks variety.
