Melia Orlando Hotel at Celebration: Great!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Amazing restaurant on site. Shuttle service could be better to the theme parks but otherwise a great place to stay. Clean rooms and great pool. Within walking distance to several other restaurants and some shopping.

Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Incredible Resort

Our family extremely enjoyed our stay at this resort. There was plenty of options to eat, rooms were spacious and kept clean, lots of great pools. But the best part was the service was top notch from the staff. Very accommodating and polite. We will be back again.

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: So peaceful

The resort is very big, but not due to lots of buildings.Instead, it has lots of park space & little ponds.It is so peaceful on the grounds.The distance from the reception to the beach is over a kilometer, but they have a tram that runs every 10 minutes or less that can transport you. Breakfast & lunch happen at the beach end. A QR code is available for that. The supper is at the buffet or a-la-carte on the reception end of the grounds. The bar lounge is nice, but seating is limited.There is usually a musician. There are hand sanitizers at the restaurants. You are seated by the hostess, rather than just going in on your own. There is the usual 'up-sales' people who look and act very much like caring staff (how is your room?), but don't be fooled. They are trying to get you to buy The Level.They are respectful if you immediately say you are not interested. I hated our Air Canada rep. I wasn't alone feeling this way. His name is Christ. He was rude & not helpful.There are 3 Melias next to each other.It wasn't clear which one was ours when we arrived.Turns out that 2 of them connect with a path, which no one explained to us.The Air Canada rep ONLY had his meet and greet in the other hotel. We ran around in the heat for 40 minutes trying to figure out where he was. No one seemed to know anything. When we did meet him, he was abrupt. "I told you I would meet you in THIS hotel. Now it's too late so come back the day before you leave". Argh! Day before we left, we went at the assigned time, but he was busy trying to sell excursions, so he handed us the schedule & told us to figure out our pickup time ourselves. The washrooms are very clean & well maintained. They didn't wash the floor in our room & we had to ask continually for facecloths. They were very good about restocking the fridge. Maybe because it was April, but the weather was uncomfortably hot & humid. The entire beach had a sea weed problem. The workers raked all day trying unsuccessfully to stay ahead of it.

Sol Torremolinos Don Pablo: Amazing resort

The grounds were impeccable, the staff was courteous and professional, always looking to please. The room was lovely. The food was amazing and abundant. Nothing was lacking. We loved our stay and are already talking of going back. It was not yet warm enough to swim in the Mediterranean Sea but warm enough to enjoy the beach, be it by lying on the warm sand or walking along the crashing waves.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort

We booked their "Level" package. The room was nice, but not the one advertised on the site that we were looking forward to. The Level specific pool and restaurant was a smaller area. Service was extremely slow and so we used the main pool by the beach where there was more action. If your booking the Level, the only real value to you may be the room. A la carte restaurants were difficult to obtain reservations at, even with Level package consierge service. They were also all extremely slow on service, with exception to the Mexican restaurant, which was one of the better restaurants. Tram/golf carts came by every 10-15 minutes to take you from main lobby/restaurant area to beach. It is walkable in 10 minutes however. Resort grounds were well maintained and were very scenic.

Stayed at the Melia Punta Cana April 3-10 2023. The property itself is very beautiful, if not spectacular! It's a big property but well laid out and easy to navigate. It is a fair distance from the lobby to the beach ( 10 min brisk walk, although its a lovely walk) however there is are trolleys that run about every 5-10 mins. There are basically 2 room areas. The 'beach side' rooms which are close to the beach, main pool and the breakfast/lunch buffet/ beach bar and the 'pool side rooms' which I [... read more]'m not sure why they are called that because they are not near the main pool but are close to the lobby area where the dinner buffet and two of the 3 non level al carte restaurants, the spa and a small very quiet pool are. There are level rooms and non level rooms in each section. There are also 'wellness rooms' which include 30 mins of spa services/day. We stayed in a beach side, non level, non wellness room in building 2 which was a great location as it was right near the breakfast/lunch buffet and beach bar. We were a 30 sec walk to the pool and 1 min to the beach. We had a view of the pool (which is spectacular at night) and a partial ocean view. I would say buildings 1, 2,3 and 16 have the best locations and best views if you are on the side facing into the resort (although there are no actual ocean view rooms.) The beach is spectacular. Nice wide, level, soft white sand. Lots of chairs and palapas ( you do need to get down there early to get shaded seats in high season. The pool seats fill up even faster). You can walk for long distances in either direction and the water is calm in this area even on windy days. Walking down the beach I would say the Melia does a very good job managing the seaweed compared to most others but it wasn't a big issue during our stay. There is a huge main pool which is gorgeous with a bar which has a swim up side and a walk up side. The pool bar tenders are a lot of fun. There is a small very quiet pool next to the spa (in the main lobby area) and another one next to the beach buffet which almost no one uses and there is also a very small level only pool very close to the main pool. Food was in my opinion, by all inclusive standards, quite good but of course that's a person to person thing. The breakfast and lunches were pretty similar each day but lots of variety. We ate at the dinner buffet 4 nights and there seemed to be something different each night. There is also a lunch/snack buffet beside the beach bar with burgers, hot dogs, chicken wings, nuggets, nachos, salads, fruit etc that opens about an hr before the lunch buffet and stays open after lunch buffet closes). Essentially you cane get food from 7 am until the dinner restaurants close around 10ish. We never used room service so not sure of the hrs its available. We ate at each of the 3 non level ala carte's once and they were all quite good. The breakfast/lunch buffet is open air and has a stunning view of view of the beach. The main buffet and Mediterranean and Vietnamese ala carte's are indoors in the lobby complex but are very nice. The 3rd ala carte is down by the beach and is beautiful at night and was our favorite meal of the week. (The jerk chicken was excellent). Level guests have another buffet and ala carte along with a roof top bar in the level building which is by the main pool. Rooms are nice enough but definitely getting a little tired. The only real complaint I had was our A/C was very noisy. So much so that we would crank it up while were out for the evening and then shut it off while sleeping because it was loud enough to keep you awake. Drinks were so so depending what you like to drink. Beer was fine. Presidente on tap at bars. Coors light in mini bar in room which I hate but I put a note in the fridge with $5 asking for non light beer and came back to find 6 Heineken. If you like blender drinks or rum and coke etc they were fine but if you like cocktails like martini's, whisky sour or straight scotch, brandy, tequila etc they were bad. All of the non level bars only have local no name liquor. My understanding is level bars have premium brands but only in the level lounge where you mix your own drinks and at the Quimera roof top bar which is only open in the evening. Wine was typical all inclusive. As in not good. White was ok red was like decent homemade wine. You can buy good wine but its as much or more as it would be in a Canadian restaurant. Also this is the first time I've every been at an all inclusive where the drinks were anemic. I've often heard complaints of 'watered down' drinks at all inclusives but that has never been my experience til now. Basically you get 1 measured once per drink where as any other place I've been they were free poured and fine. However if you asked for doubles they were happy to do so. As they call it at the pool bar a '2 happy' (vs a 1 happy) If you were filling a thermal cup they woud put however many shots you asked for in it. I think my biggest complaint was that every bar had tons of premium liquor on the shelves ( Tito's, Goose, Don Julio, Patron, Johnny Walker, high end Dominican rums etc) but it was only for purchase of the whole bottle at prices higher than in Canada. They also have bottles of Corona and Presidente for $5 each. This resort is at a price point where there should be name brand booze available even if just at the lobby bar. Service was very good at bars /restaurants and staff very friendly. They did a great job cleaning rooms etc. For things like room issues they are on typical Dominican time ie nothing happens too quickly. (our ceiling fan didn't work all week and no one came to look at it) This may be a pro or a con depending on your likes and dislikes but this is a very quiet resort. They do have entertainment in the lobby bar area every night but its rather sedate and that's exactly what we were looking for. If your are looking for a party atmosphere this is not the place. Overall I would say this is a good solid 4.5 star resort and if you are looking for a laid back vacation in paradise you couldn't really go wrong here. I would certainly be willing to return. The grounds and beach more than make up for the dated rooms. If premium liqour is important to you either book the level (which was about $300 CDN/ person/week when I booked. I talked to someone who upgraded on check in for $350 USD for 2 people for the week) or just get yourself some premium booze for your room at the duty free at the airport. Most were about half of what it would cost in Canada. Just FYI premium booze in the shopping areas is more $ than the duty free and other than rum is very pricey even by Canadian standards

Paradisus Cancun: Nice resort

Resort was nice I would give it a 7 out of 10. Only the steakhouse was excellent food, but you had to book reserve to dine there or pay extra. With reserve you were allowed one visit but a lot on the menu was also extra charge. As was the case at most restaurants. Lemon Fish was a good restaurant but again extra for most of the menu. Zel Punta Cana - All Suites: Good Resort

This is a very luxury and expansive (and expensive) hotel. All Personnel seems to us were very eager to satisfy guests, very friendly and helpful. But again its a split for type of "VIP guests", so we did not have access by far to all facilities. Some other small issues.... 1. TV has only about six English channels, including useless CNN. 2. Whole unit was unnecessary large for a couple, we had a total four rooms, including indoor and outdoor jacuzzi. 3. No entertaining during all three weeks [... read more], except once week Karaoke.

Melia Puerto Vallarta: Great Family Resort!

A bit aged, but the grounds are impressive, huge pool area, friendly service and activity staff, nice beach area. We had 2 separate leaks in our room during our stay (fixed) and there are only 2 outlets in the room, not ideal.

The grounds were absolutely beautiful. The service was excellent! The train didn’t come often enough to take you to the pool and the beach when you were in the far villas. The food wasn’t to our satisfaction.

We loved this resort! The Level is a must! The resort is adult only but The Level upgrade comes with your own concierge/butler who helps make life simple for you. We loved Jose Minaya❤️ The rooftop patio for pre dinner cocktails was an every night thing with premium liquors. They do need to step up the peanuts and olives but on the 2nd floor you can catch great snacks like cheeses, salami and great guacamole. The usual challenge of trying to get a shaded hut was our biggest challenge with us having to snag them super early. The resort is immaculate and the grounds are stunning. We stayed in Villa 8 which is lovely and very close to pool and the Quimera building. Entertainment was okay. We did walk next door and played in the small casino and the vibe was slightly more lively with all the families around. Ocean was nice but not on sunset side of island. My biggest complaint will come from the 3 nights of “unexplained” smelly smoke that filled our area of the island (not just our resort). No answers to what it was but 1 night it was horrible. Overall, we would return but will try the other side of the island next time for more Caribbean waters and sunsets.

We asked all rooms to be close to each other and they upgraded us for FREE to Falcons Resort by Melia. The place was just over the top!! Every room is gorgeous suite with more than enough room for everyone. It was amazing!

Pool was fairly large with a swim up bar, easy access from the shallow end and an area in the centre of the pool to have a drink and enjoy the sun while cooling off..👍👍 Bring a pool noodle or pool float. The grounds are clean and well maintained. A large resort, lots of walking..a trolley runs through the resort which will take you to the lounge, beach area and your assigned building. Melia Caribe Beach Resort: 8 days at Melia Caribe

The resort is located on a beautiful stretch of beach. There is seaweed, but the location changes daily with the winds. Water is crystal clear when the water is calm ~ warm and wonderful for swimming. The lobby is very beautiful. Modern, well maintained, and comfortable. Some staff members are great and genuinely try their best to provide a good experience (such as some servers and housekeepers), others (such as front desk, restaurant reservation, and bar) are dismissive and reluctant to help. I [... read more]n the restaurant we mostly got our own drinks and coffees. When staff do ask what you need (ie., towels, coffee, bath robes), you tell them and they say "sure" but never bring/forget the requested items. The property itself is beautifully designed and the grounds have the potential to be lovely but at this time, maintenance is visibly lacking (likely shortage of staff). The food is delicious, great selection and variety. Evenings are quiet, there are some nice shows but not much to do other than walk and admire the scenery. The lighting at night is stunning. Really beautiful design and a pleasure to experience. The main pool is big and very beautiful. Water is clean and clear, doesn't smell of chemicals. The pathways around the pool however are rather dirty and it's best to walk in shoes. Despite us being at the resort in high season (feb-march), there is a lot of construction work (building new pool cabanas, pool walkway repairs with concrete). The pool was still very enjoyable. There are gorgeous palms and everything is close. We liked the entertainment in the pool and the public restrooms (across the resort) were exceptionally clean. Rooms are okay. Design is minimalist and a bit dull. Bathrooms and balcony are fine. Beds are comfortable and bedding is clean. Checkout was quick, but checking in took forever (at least an hour) despite there being only about 6 people arriving. Many staff walk around in groups talking and joking but ignore visitors. The staffing and service is truly the downfall of this resort in our experience. Careless and non attentive staff in 2023. Overall, this resort has the makings of an awesome place. We enjoyed our time here (week +) and are grateful for the tropical experience. Covid has definitely left its mark on this resort and we hope that in the future, they recoup service level and cleanliness/maintenance to pre-covid levels. Additionally, we hope staff is provided more training in customer service and can improve in years to come. We'd give this a total of 3/4 stars max in 2023, 3 for service and matinenace, 4 for location and overall design.

Having travelled extensively throughout the Caribbean I know a quality resort and this is not one. Upon arrival front desk is trying to up sell us for an additional $800.00 USD what they said was a recommended Level Experience. We purchased a Premium package and did not upgrade to The Level. So first day on Beach we experienced the management taking towels off chairs as people were not in the chair for a half hour. So you could not go to lunch, walk on the beach or even go for a swim and exp [... read more]ect to come back to your chair. There were not enough chairs for the amount of people staying at the hotel on beach or by the pools. Chair theft and arguments were common. There is only one bathroom for the beach and restaurant and line ups were long. Only one bar on beach and water downed alcohol. The bar was at the far end of the beach by the bathrooms are. If you are in the premium the lunch and breakfast was buffet and the food and coffee was always cold. There was only one guy for eggs and omelets. There was no bacon after 8 am. You have to go each day to book your ala carte dinner for the next day. By the third day we gave in to Level up of an additional cost of $560.00USD as we only experienced frustration and disappointment. Once you Level up you now had another bathroom you could go to. You now also had premium alcohol and ala cart breakfast and lunch were food and coffee was hot. We have been to other hotels were you have Lunch and breakfast as ala cart and you booked two to three day for dinners. Also other hotels were you did not need to book reservations at all just walked in to restaurant and they would seat you if room if not you wait or go to another one. The room was substandard paint pealing off ceiling in bathroom tiles damaged and caulked over. The floor drain had a sewer smell and small black flies continuously came out of drain. Had to put towel over the drain and keep door closed to keep the smell from entering the rest of the room. Complained to front desk nothing was done. Our patio/balcony was on the ground level which was fine except that hotel staff used it as a short cut carrying equipment to and from where they were going within three feet of balcony there was no privacy. The flower beds were all dead weeds wild grass not flowers which is not usual for Dominican. This was and Adults Only Hotel and just outside the room door was a Kids water park from the sister hotel next door. Why is the Waterpark not at that Hotel? Hear kids yelling all day long we came on vacation to get away from that and booked an Adults only but did not get it as even on the beach there would be kids and parents walking around up by your chairs. Its one thing to be on the beach walking but not walking around especially when you are on the roped in area of the LEVEL Beach Area. We could go on and on about our disappointment with this resort would not recommend it to anyone. It is a 3.5 -4 star at best if you Level up.

Melia Orlando Hotel at Celebration: highly recommended

This hotel is very clean, staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are clean. Pool is clean and at a nice temperature. lots of parking for vehicles. Nice feature that it has fridge, stove, microwave, toaster in the rooms. I found the drinks to be expensive. Food was good and reasonably priced.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Melia caribe Beach

The hotel was 5 star and we were up graded to "Level" Had our private consearge. The suite was excellent. Pool just across the lane, although we spent most of our time on the beach which was beautiful. Everything seemed to be back to Normal after covid. Restaurants were good although some of the reserved dining was mediocre, lacking flavour All in All we had a wonderful time and thanks to Natalie everything was perfect.

Resort was very well kept and nice, but very large with the restaurant selection and times and availability a little frustrating, breakfast and lunch options were only available at the beach and the restaurants at the front area were only open for dinner. Pools and beach were nice but you must get a chair early as there are not enough for the main pool and the beach. we enjoyed the golf at the resort and spent a bit of time at the small casino at the Melia Caribe. Definitely disappointed with th [... read more]e Japanese changes from the last time we were there and how they now do the food. I have stayed at each of the Melia resorts over the last 10 years and this was my least favorite.

The Japanese Restaurant was over priced and the food was not cooked very good , issue with not chairs available at beach because everyone puts their towels there and leaves. The phone did not work to contact front desk. Wifi went in and out. Golf may be free but at 75.00 American to rent a cart that is no bargain. To stay there was over priced

We opted for the AI at booking time not knowing exactly what was included in that particular option. Very difficult to get the specifics of the inclusions , either from the provider or Air Transat. After our 1 month stay we were very pleased with our choice that included 3 meals/day plus a unlimited choice of beverages (alcohol and non-alcoholic). Very nice hotel , well located, good service, etc. , really no bad surprises ! Keep in mind that if you opt out of the AI plan , you will pay for all [... read more] beverages with your meals , and any drink at the bar including coffee.
