Barcelo Maya Tropical: Average

Barcelo Review Poor communication, both WestJet and Barcelo. Advertised with bathrobes and slippers in the room - not here. We booked the Tropical and the bus guy could not find us on the list, wonder why. We got to reception and were told we were moved to Colonial because Tropical was full and computer reassigns automatically. I had read about this in other reviews so insisted we stay in Tropical and they “found” us a room. Also try to find a WestJet rep at the hotel - nonexistent. They us [... read more]e contractors we found out from the Transat rep but no indication of what hours they are available. Be prepared for a lot of walking! No maps as handouts for directions, only enlarged air photos in a few places throughout the resort for you to figure out. Our room was 400m from beach and 400m from buffet restaurant. The resort is huge but lots of spaces for people to spread out. The Barcelo bus was fun riding between locations but only 10-15 minute walk from one end to the other. Room was nice although showing wear and tear, the sink was falling off, bathtub was chipped and repaired, coffee maker plastic parts broken, cabinet doors loose and misaligned, balcony door did not lock, water damage on ceiling in bathroom, lack of circulation fan so towels never dried. Dining service was great in most a la cartes but lacking in the buffets. Lots of food choices and yes some were not kept hot but most were fine. Pool/beachfront bars open only until 6pm and then only lobby and theatre bars open. Lobby bars did not all have the same selections, Tropical the least. Pool bars also had different choices, draft beer at one, Corona cans at another. Lounge chairs were always available somewhere all the time, just the prime ones were saved by early risers. Sad to say some people saved both beach and poolside chairs and hardly stayed at either. Towels were not always tracked so people took lots and left a lot laying around unclaimed by sunset. The beach has palm trees for shade so chairs moved around with sun. Sandy part of the beach was quite narrow and seaweed washing up from constant wave and wind action. Maintenance staff removed most of it every day but always some to walk over. Limestone rocks in the water and on the beach made walking in a hazard if you could not see them but nice and sandy bottom further out from shore. Schools of fish in shallow to see as you waded out. Snorkelling not great except at north end along coral fingers. Visibility best in morning before water stirred up. Ocean and pools were warm and warmed up throughout the day. Entertainment was top notch but not very family friendly with lots of skin showing on the women and lots of ass wiggling. Acoustics not great with volume too loud and lots of echo in the theatre so could not make out the lyrics to songs and announcers spoke so fast could not understand them. Overall a decent resort but not up 4 star standards.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Value resort

Overall amazing people great service. Beach is super full of seaweed. Sofa in the rooms are dirty bathtubs inside and outside of the room are dirty looking and not inviting. It's good for the value.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Great Resort

So much to love about this resort. Rooms were nice, pools were well kept, food was good. Service was great. The booking through tripcentral.ca was so simple and quick. The trip from airport to resort was terrible. 2 hour wait before leaving airport. 2.5 hour trip. Almost 5 hours from rival. The resort requires a lot of walking.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great for families!

We had a wonderful time at this resort, as a family of 3. We worried that our 11 year old might get bored but not the case at all. So many activities available for all to enjoy and shows every night. Food was disappointing, often cold at buffets and little variety (particularly for kids). Was there a bacon shortage in Mexico?? Service overall was great and staff worked hard to ensure guests were looked after. Many large groups at this hotel.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Amazing Resort

Staff were Great. Friendly and making sure all was fine The food was great and many choices at the Buffet and the restaurants the carts at the resort had enough to choose from, eating, deserts, gifts their is plenty of places to sit and relax and have a drink. Many many places to explore and see wild life

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Excellent Vacation

Everything about this place was wonderful clean rooms, great food and drinks at the many restaurants and bars, many pool options, nightly entertainment adult only and a quiet relaxed atmosphere. Thick foliage everywhere and such a kind staff. Wouldn't recommend for a younger party crowd

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Great Resort

Extremely clean hotel, great food & staff throughout the resort! Rooms were spacious, cleaned everyday. The grounds were taking care of, bars were well stocked. Pools kept clean, lots of lounges to choose from. The ocean is filled with Sargassum which no hotel can avoid.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Very nice resort.

We liked the layout, that kept everything in close proximity. For the most part Staff were friendly and helpful. The resort was very clean and well maintained. We are definitely considering a return trip.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Nice resort but baaaad food.

Beautiful resort, nice trees and animals. The room was large and clean. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom was outdated and a bit run down. Service was fine and polite but the food was horrible. This is the first time I have ever had bad food in Mexico. It was as bad as Cuba. Really disappointing especially considering how high trip prices were this year. I would not return to or recommend this resort unless it got a total overhaul from top to bottom.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Great Resort

The hotel was extremely clean and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. The resort has great wildlife around the grounds that my kids loved seeing each morning as we walked to breakfast. I would take my family back.

TRS Yucatan: Great resort

The area is beautiful - although at least a 60 minute drive from Cancun. The resort itself is also beautiful - the employees are tremendous, couldn't be more courteous and helpful. The resort is very large & offers many options - you really should take advantage of the transportation & survey all of the 4 resorts. Really enjoyed the choice of dining options - we had a member with food allergies & this was accomodated at all food venues. Also enjoyed the atmosphere and of course, the sun.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: dissapointing

We have stayed at many many hotels in the Mayan Rivera. By far this was the most disappointing. in a nutshell these were the reasons Restrictive beach access for Coba guests Large lack of chairs or loungers at pools no room service, not an option no poolside service for drinks no food at all available at pools cannot take any food out of the restaurants or buffet for consumption in room reservations at a la carte's almost impossible and very restrictive due to electronic  [... read more]system in place and lack of personal representation. I guess this needs to be done on their website weeks in advance. restrictive and lacking mini bar etc..... not a 5 star resort

Breathless Riviera Cancun: Nice ressort

Viva Azteca by Wyndham: Viva Azteca

Viva Azteca is a nice small resort. The staff was great rooms were decent, great beach and close to shops. The only down fall is the food. I have been on many all inclusive resorts and am not a picky eater. The food was horrible and I would say close to half the guests were sick due to the food. Not many options and there was definatly something wrong. Luckily there is a drug store down the street where you can get immodium so it didnt ruin my vacation! The only difference was hand sanitizer was available around all the food areas.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great value!

Our family of 4 including 2 teens were here for a week in April 2023. Great value at this resort. Staff were friendly and resort had everything we needed. Rooms were tired but clean. We were in building 6 which was near the smaller pool. We liked being close to the main buffet/gym/lobby as other reviews state - this is a big resort with lots of walking! Food was great with lots of options, including gluten free. We did note the lines for the main buffet got crazy busy around 8pm. A la c [... read more]arte restaurants were excellent and had no problem getting reservations. Pools were nice - we spent more time at the quieter small pool. Beach was decent and good for lounging, seaweed was only bad for a day or two. It’s worth the 10min walk to the lagoon.

TRS Yucatan: Amazing resort!

This is a beautiful resort with gorgeous grounds, suites, and amenities. The staff is great and very helpful and ready to please. We enjoyed our stay very much! We would definitely recommend it to our friends and family.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: 15th visit and still amazing

My wife and I have just returned from our 15th visit (29th & 30th weeks) to this wonderful resort. The weather was perfect for the entire 14 days we were there. It was nice to catch up with so many of the staff members whom we have become friends with over the 15 years we have been visiting this resort. The food was excellent at all of the al a carte restaurants making it impossible to choose our favorite. We also tried the Food Truck lunches around the pool and enjoyed them as well. The recentl [... read more]y opened Coffee shop offers many great special coffee drinks as well as ice cream, sandwiches and amazing dessert treats. We stayed in the standard Deluxe Jr. Suite and we opted for the Privilage package. Although these rooms have yet to be renovated the room was clean, comfortable and centrally located. The staff at this resort are fabulous and do their best to make our stay as pleasant as possible. A special shout out to Osmar at the Don Miguel bar where he made our nightly visits extra enjoyable. The entertainment is enjoyable, especially the 3 Tenors and the Imperial band. The main pool was busy but not crowded at the end where we spent our time. The main activity area of the pool is busier and offers many activities for those whose enjoy that type of thing. The Beach was as beautiful as ever and although there has been a lot of discussion recently in reference to the Sargassum (seaweed) issues in the region, the Sargassum comes and goes depending on the sea currents and size of the waves due to the winds coming off the sea. The Valentin does a remarkable job cleaning as much of the Sargassum as possible with their tractor and raking devise in an attempt to limit the effect on beach goers. We were told the resort was around 85% occupancy but as usual this resort made it seem less crowded than you would expect. We love this resort and will return for our 16th trip next year.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Dreams but not dreams

Grounds nice, landscaping could be better, rooms are clean, beds comfortable, service good. Hotel inside is very poor; in the hallway is only 5-7 tables to sit; if it rains guests stay in their rooms. Early flight no coffee, no food provided; not organized at all. Line ups for food, they wait for guest to tell how many pieces of chicken of fish in the mean time people pile up waiting in long lines. Excellence Riviera Cancun: Amazing week at Excellence Riviera Cancun

We have just returned from our 7th visit to this resort, in fact our 3rd trip since January 2023. This resort is Awsome! All staff are unbelievably friendly and helpful. Supervisors are very visible and are very anxious to learn how your day is going, in hopes to make it the best possible. I highly recommend this resort. It is as it was pre-covid.
