Melia Marina Varadero: 4 out of 10
The worst food in all the resorts I have been. Very low quantity of food and don’t taste good
I had to fight every day for bottles of water.
The beach was amazing. I loved it. The people were nice.

Marazul Hotel: Unforgettable Resort
The hotel is well located and airy. Breakfast is very good compared to other hotels I have been in Habana Standing in the balcony one can get nice breeze from the sea as well as beautiful scenery. Three meals a day are served all buffet selections. The restaurants outside and not far from the hotel serve my favorite grilled whole fish.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Beautiful Vacay
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and stay at Iberostar Daiquiri, Guillermo Jardines Del Reyes. Expectations were absolutely met.
No food or supply shortages. Staff were all absolutely Amazing. Always smiling and genuinely wanting to help and serve you.
Our only feedback would be a better explanation of the wifi access/limits and a venue with some snacking food available 24 hours.
Outside of that again it was a fantastic stay!!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Nice place
The grounds are very well kept. Our room was nice and in excellent repair, the only drawback was that there was no hot water and they were unable to fix.we were there for two weeks
The alacartes were surprisingly good, well served and delicious. With our diamond club we got an extra alacarte, and so enjoyed our served breakfast every day. The buffet became monotonous quickly so we had lunch at bites or at the beach restaurants, beans cafe at the pool was really nice , try the cold coffee and ic[... read more]e cream drink and had great cappuccino.
There were a few shortages at times, eggs, rice, bread, beans, soap in the bathrooms and toilet paper.
If you go to be sure to take all your meds, snacks and a couple of rolls of toilet paper. Also small packs of Kleenex for resort washrooms which were often without any.
The lounge at the airport was disappointing. We were there for an hour had balogna on a bun and instant coffee( yes saw the girl make it ). Wasn’t, much else available but juices and beer and rum. No pastries. Two flights of stairs up,then across the airport and then 2 flights of stairs down to get to the lounge. Escalator and elevator not working, my sore knee was not happy. All and all enjoyed this resort ,but if you can,t handle the shortfalls you won,t be happy. P.s. the staff was wonderful

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Top Notch!
Beautiful, large resort with unique boardwalk throughout the grounds. Very spacious and clean rooms with large balcony and separate bathroom so others may still be getting ready at the sink or shower. Friendly helpful staff, especially Bryan, our butler (customer service rep). We enjoyed yoga, pool fitness, volleyball, dance lessons and lots of walks on the beach. Tex mex was the favourite restaurant. Don't worry about upgrading to 'diamond club'. We were able to get into any restaurant by just [... read more]lining up 15 min early. No problem when you have a pina colada in your hand and you're meeting new people. Many shade structures available. No shortages on food. Bring tissue to the beach or pool washrooms. Toilet paper does not get replenished there as often. Maids do a great job in the rooms though. Lots of entertainment in the main bar and restaurants. High class resort. Well maintained and attention to detail.

Paradisus Los Cayos: Lovely, amazing, largest resort I have stayed at in Cuba, not that I need large
All good except washrooms need some taking care of. Washroom off entrance as you come in beside registration desk in dire need of repair. Door locks broken on all, no soap in any dispenser, and womens washroom beside large pool just past buffet, no soap, no toilet paper in 1, seat completely sliding of base in 1 of the toilets. Happy with Buffet, considering shortages country is having, lots of food, eggs n/a 1st 3 days, thats all. Some cultlery in buffet dirty, needed replacing a few times. Oth[... read more]er than that all good. People that work there amazing, friendly and personable. Our room was good. Unfortunately pool directly off back lobby out of service last 4 days we were there, as well as childrens pool out of service entire time we were there, and quite a few families with children. All in all great hotel, yes would recommend.

Melia Costa Rey: Awsome Resort!
I went with 5 other members, friends & family. We had a great time together. When we originally booked, it was known as 'The Pullman', after which, had been bought out by another company, and is now known as 'The Grand Marena '. We arrived on Thurs. April 4, (for 10 days) before 10am that morning and had to wait till after 4pm for our room, EXHAUSTING!
The hotel and rooms were slightly dated, but some of the rooms had been freshened up and made more modern. All of our rooms were done, which wa[... read more]s nice. Coffee maker didn't work in the room, for us a little disappointing but we survived. lol Bottled water was delivered daily, and 2 beer in the fridge. My room was on the 2nd floor, which was really the 3rd floor as floors are #'d 0,1,2. Amazing view from the hotel lobby, overlooking the pools and the ocean.
I hope you like kitties (I do, so didn't bother me), and chickens, with chicks, cause there's lots!! They even have a Nanny Goat!!! Awsome!
The staff, all around the resort are happy to have us there. They'd stop whatever they were doing to speak with you. Gardeners, Maids, Waiters/Waitresses, Bartenders, Front Desk staff. So, so helpful when navigating for the 1st couple of days. The bartendars were awsome! Always making suggestions for drinks we might like. Daniella, the coffee steward, always singing...beautiful!! Wait staff ready to show you to your seat, offering water and drinks. All day entertainment at the pools. In the evenings, there was always a singer in the lobby and a show later on in the night, around 9:30pm.
Some excursions have been canceled, but the good ones are still available... the catamaran, spectacular, jeep tour etc.
We had the Japenese a-la-carte, very good. (We were moved before we got the others.)
We always found plenty to eat. Breads and cheeses are amazing and offered at all meals. I had a fresh made omlett everyday. A nice variety of fresh fruits were available daily, Guava, Papya, Watermelon, Pineapple. Lots of veggies, cabbage, carrots, cucumber, tomatoes etc, & meats, Pork, Beef and Chicken but no fish. A variety of pastas with sauces. Coffee was offered in the morning but not for lunch or dinner in the buffet, no big deal, we got a cappacino at the bar afterwards mmm lol. You've got to try their
After settling in and accustomizing to the hotel & facilities, by Thurs. April 11, All guests were moved to different hotels for the duration of their holiday. The reason was because of some major renovations they were making. Although, up to then, the renos they were doing were'nt bothering anybody, but I guess they wanted to do some real hardcore renos, so, we were all moved. Too bad, so sad. My group was sent to the Gran Muthu, beautiful Lobby, nice rooms. Some staff were not as nice, and way, way too much walking up and down hills. Washrooms closest to the beach were at the snack bar, a good 10 min walk from the beach...totally unexceptable!!! At least now I know where not to go. But...
I can't wait to go back to the GRAN MARENA next year and see all the results. They were almost finished building (from scratch, amazing) two bars and a few out buildings of which I don't know what they were going to be. Curious to find out. They were painting the entire place and replacing the pool and shower tiles for the whole resort.
In other words, it'll be a whole new hotel when we go back and it was already great!!!!

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: The resort coul use some upgrades.
So we got off to a bumpy start on the day we arrived. I had paid for the upgrade to the Alegance section of the resort, having been to the resort 3 time previously I knew the section and were definitely not in the adults only section. Our first room had many deficiencies too many to list. We slept in the room we were given but I got no sleep that night. The following day we went to the concierge in Alegance and she was amazing, her name is Jolie. By 2 pm that day we were given a room in that se[... read more]ction. Had it not been for Jolie our vacation would have been ruined. The Alegance section service and food were great. The grounds were well maintained and the weather was perfect. I will return to this resort, Valentin El Patriarca however I will be asking for confirmation prior the leaving of the section requested. All in all we had a great time, made new friends, and came home relaxed and our tanks were full. J. Harwood

Gran Muthu Rainbow Cayo Guillermo: Amazing Trip
This small resort is amazing, with Cuba the way that Cuba is, I wasn’t expecting amazing but I was so wrong. What the resort lacked in supplies they made up with their kindness and hard work to make everything as lovely as possible. The people that work at Rainbow, go above and beyond everyday for their guests. Rooms were clean, buffet always had something you could eat, and the entertainment was superb.

Los Delfines: Don't expect 5 star resort!
My biggest complaint was the washrooms on the resort, they had no toilet seats, no toilet paper, and smelled like an outhouse! Also the doors were left open so they were full of mosquitos and flies! The rooms are good unless you are on the third floor and had to walk up and down 3 flights of stairs! The food was plentiful but desserts such as cake were scarce!

Barcelo Solymar: There is nothing worse than this hotel
First room was with mold stinks like hell changed next day, had to beg for beach towels for 2 days, no hot water, had to beg to fix it, the lock got broken, had to enter through the balcony, spent half day to fix it. The cheery on top - when transfer bus came to pick up we had to wait for someone to open the storage room with our luggage. I kind of expect any of these happened but not ALL of it in one week. Stay away if you value your vacation time! Food was ok though. I lost 5 pounds)))

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great experience!
I went in November of 2023, so things may have changed since. The beach was generally quite crowded and small, but if you're okay with walking a bit further along the beach away from the resort, it becomes significantly less crowded and is really beautiful. The sunsets from the resort are amazing too.
Staff was very attentive and friendly.
I actually really enjoyed the food. It's generally quite simple, but that suits my preference. Chicken and mint for mojitos(came back) were the only s[... read more]hortages I experienced but that doesn't bother me. The espressos you can get at the bars are phenomenal. Probably some of the best coffee I've ever had. Their ice cream is good quality too and if you like papaya, they had lots!
The basic room is dated but spacious and clean. Cleaning staff comes in everyday. Toilet paper wasn't an issue. Water was sometimes only warm max, but really in that kind of weather I'm probably going to be fine with a cold shower anyways. The only thing that was in bad shape was the safe punch code mechanism. It did still work, which is the most important part.
The grounds were well maintained. It's a fairly small but nice resort, with mostly outdoor eating and entertain(with overhead coverage).
I was very happy with the value of the resort and enjoyed the trips through the surrounding countryside too. I would recommend the catamaran excursion.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Terrific Vacation
Our trip to Cayo Coco, Cuba.
The resort was beautiful, rooms were big, everything was extremely clean, staff was friendly, weather was great, couldn’t ask for better.
The beach was unreal! We all were shocked by the sand and how powdery it was. Snorkeling right off the beach at the north end was phenomenal. Such a huge variety of fish to see. Had no issues with getting loungers at the beach but around the pool was a bit of a challenge.
Food was plentiful for all meals. Thought it a bit [... read more]strange that they had no breakfast in the steamers… lol I would suggest they learn how to deal with feeding 1500 people a little faster. Long waits for the snack bars so just stuck to the buffet. They don't seem to have the concept figured out on precooking food at the snack bars. As for the A la Cartes: The Mexican restaurant was our biggest complaint. They didn't serve you enough food at the meal so you need to go to the buffet after...haha. As for drinks; it was expected that they would have mostly Rum, but did find some Tequila, Vodka, and Whiskey. Coke and sprite were sporadic, so stick to the juices.
We were very fortunate to have no real issues with anything. Had to fight a bit to get the crib and a second room key which I thought to be rather annoying. The entertainment was canceled a few times and I did find it to be very disorganized like most things, but overall can not complain. We did not starve, water was slow at times but the trip by far was enjoyable.

Melia Trinidad Peninsula: Another Melia Jewel
I visited the Melia Trinidad between Apr. 5-12. Nothing but good things to say . Being a new hotel (The Level rooms are not quite complete ) it is clean, modern, beautiful and very comfortable. Hats off to the designers for creating a lovely , bright hotel. The bed was so comfortable, the shower was wonderful, the fridge was restocked every day and the ocean view was marvellous. So many beautiful, clean pools and whirlpools. The sunsets on the ocean are spectacular ! The gym is well fitted and c[... read more]leaned constantly , with an adjoining, sauna and steam room and showers. The restaurants are all beautifully designed and offer very nice food. There is absolutely no shortage of great food, unlike many of the other Cuban resorts at this time. The food and beverage manager is constantly on the move making sure that the service is of a high standard. The wines are primarily from Spain ( Melia is a Spanish chain ) and the champagne is plentiful . Coffees and drinks are all done very well in all of the many bars. Serving staff and the maid that I had were ALL warm and polite and hard working. Personally, I didn't take any of the excursions, as I was there to disconnect, but those that did all came back with good reports. The entertainment was varied and many were quite good ! There was one day that the DJ was pumping up the music quite loud around a pool party , but that was just a temporary disturbance :) , I am 70, ha ha. BTW, I landed in Santa Clara airport during the daylight hours and really enjoyed the 2 1/2 hour transfer through the mountains to the hotel. Be warned, there was no washroom on the bus , if you know what I mean. The only negative of this property is the beach. Great to look at but very rocky for playing in. Overall, I would say, this hotel is well worth visiting, especially if you are a pool person, looking to be pampered !
