Royal Hideaway Playacar: A very beautiful and restful resort.

Our room was very nice and comfortable. The staff were very nice, especially the breakfast staff. Elena always greeted us with a lovely smile and got to know us as we entered for breakfast and lunch. I would like to send a note to Isidore, our concierge for building 23. We left him a tip, but unfortunately we left only around $1.00 in American dollars. We were under the impression we left more. Barcelo Maya Colonial: Modern living and eating in MX!

It felt like living in a modern minimalist cool chic museum. Food was top notch - especially the French and Japanese a la cartes. The Seafood at the Palace was out of this world. Rooms were luxorious with a hot tub. Pools were clean and fun jets. Beach was sandy and do bring water shoes as there is sharp rocks every so often in the ocean. Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Absolutely Amazing Resort!!

Everything was beautiful and clean. Good choice of restaurants and no need for reservations which is excellent! The service is unlike any other resorts that I have been to. Absolutely amazing !! The activities around the pool are so much fun and there are plenty. The grounds are absolutely beautiful!! This is my 3rd time at the Valentine and I recommend this resort 100% !! You'll never want to go anywhere else!

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Good resort - not for beach people

Ocean Coral is a good resort. To put this review into context, we were two couples looking for some R&R. We choose this resort because of the location, price and the variety of options. We were lucky (and asked for this in advance) to be put into the adults only section and upgraded to Privilege. While the upgrade wasn't overly expensive, it was worth it to us. We mostly hung out in the Adults only section and were happy for the peace. There were other options if you wanted a swim up bar, p [... read more]arty and had your kids but that wasn't our scene. It was nice to have an option for quiet and an option to party if you wanted. I found that most people respected the vibe in those areas. Except for those - and there are always a few - who play their own music loudly on the beach, by the pool etc.. seriously get headphones is it so rude. The food was ok. We had a mix of experiences from good to decent. Never really any blow your mind food. The buffet (both) was really bad at all times. Thank goodness for the privilege lounge but that menu got stale quickly and forced us to move around. Unfortunately not a lot of non buffet options for lunch. This is not a resort for beach lovers. It is very narrow and while you can't control the waves, it is really narrow and difficult to maintain so if you want to spend all your time on a lovely beach - go to Maroma. The gym is very small but functional. Here is a tip for those who upgrade.... you can book the water experience at the spa, free of charge, every day if you want. HELLO. They don't tell you that. We booked it 5 of the 7 days and it was an excellent addition to our holidays. Overall the trip was great, the food was decent but not spectacular, the pools amazing, the lobby and lobby bar fantastic, beach was nice to see and hear the waves. Overall this is an affordable, decent hotel. If you want a holiday with your kids, this may be the place for you. If you want to party at the swim up pool bar, you have that option too. Everyone talks about the beach chair challenge. It exists. Not for the beach - tons of options at all times. AT the pools 100%. At the swim up bar, if you didn't grab one by 7:00 you were out of luck completely. At the adults only pool, by 7:30. The butler is no help on this at all. You need to coordinate with the towel guy. The beds by the pool very difficult to get and you need to negotiate with the towel guy and basically pay him to get one for you. The butler was not really that useful - really only for dinner reservations, which I would encourage you to book day one. Do your research in advance and book immediately. To me the towel experience and the reservations experience is what takes this hotel down in the * category. Too complicated. Book a reservation, trust that we will return our towels, show up a restaurant and go for a drink when you have to wait 30 mins. They over think it and I get that reservations are important but there could be some accommodation for going with the flow a bit and for those who are willing to wait. One constructive comment would be is that there seems to be an overall lack of training and/or leadership with the staff. What do I mean? Well it is not instinctive to solve problems, to provide stellar service. It did happen on occasion but you can tell there is a lack of training and organizational culture at the hotel. To me this is a leadership/management role and is where other hotels like Excellence stand out among the rest. This can be changed, it doesn't cost money but it has to be a priority of the leadership and it doesn't seem to be. Would I recommend? Yes but go in with some managed expectations and know what is important to you before you go.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Fun trip!

I read a lot of mixed reviews and overall the resort is really nice. I found our room spacious and clean, but we did pay extra for a better view. Our friends view over the ravine was not as great. The staff was great, I didn’t experience anyone who wasn’t pleasant and friendly. The beach the week we went was not as bad as I have read it can be. But if you are a beach person it may not be the best choice as it is not a guarantee. You can see the seaweed coming in and see on parts of the beach how bad it can get, which is unfortunate. The main pools were always busy and lively which is great if you are looking for a party and if you are not there are other pool areas that are less busy. With multiple bars available and staff who walk around taking drink orders.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great

Was very nice pretty clean but there were no COVID adaptations. No sanitizer no spacing of seats. We didn’t expect anything else but I’m just answering your question. The shows could be improved upon but we’re pretty good. Theme nights in the buffet and towel art is nice but just an observation. Overall we had a great week.

Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya All Inclusive: Very nice and clean

Rooms are very modern and nice decorated, food is very good but the dinning sets are a bit odd. Two different buffets that are not working everyday. You need to look for its schedule which day which one is open. Beach is not good and we couldn't use it. No place for walking at sunset.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: the worst resort i have ever been to

Selection Riviera Cancun: Simple Laid back resort

Nothing extraordinaire , low key , very clean ……butler service has declined since Covid thinking it’s a staffing issue , this has been our third time to visit this resort , the service has changed but again so has the rest of the world ! We sat at the beach palapa for the sound of the ocean & breeze , the seaweed is plentiful definitely not appealing to go in the water , pools are very enjoyable with lots of variety. Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar

This was our 3rd trip to this resort and we weren't disappointed. Checking in was a breeze, no problems. This is a large resort with transportation (golf carts) available, if needed. However, it is a comfortable walk from one end to the other. We enjoyed walking over to the plaza and checking out the stores and restaurants there. The whole area is similar to a small village. Peacocks, Flamingos and other tropical birds add to the beauty of this location, also the funny little Coties. Although the rooms are a bit dated, they are very comfortable and clean. The whole resort, including the various buildings, are very clean. The staff are constantly attending to the walkways and grounds. The food and service was very good with a great selection at the buffet. We did dine at 2 of the available restaurants, and again the food was delicious. The beach is a beautiful wide and long beach with soft white sand. Unfortunately, while we were there the Sargassum seawood created a bit of a problem but we were still able to walk the beach and get into the clear, warm water. We enjoyed participating in some of the pool activities but mostly watching people having fun. The "animation" team was great. Leonel, Nare, Daniel, Alexander are some of the team that I can remember. They really got the pool hopping. In the afternoon we participated in the Zumba class with excellent instructors, Armando and Laura. The only thing I would suggest is that the "main" evening entertainment should start earlier. We found the 9:45, 10 pm start a little late. All the staff were very helpful and made us feel welcome. In summary, we had a wonderful time and are looking forward to going back next year

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Amazing time, very relaxing and great food

Amazing trip, super relaxing. Great hotel, friendly staff, amazing food. Will definitely be returning in the future. Liked the Facebook page as well, very informative, the app is also good. We are very satisfied. Pool staff was great, especially Nuala, so sweet. :)

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Top notch resort!!!

The resort was beautiful. Well maintained, clean. Service in all areas was wonderful. Food was delicious, I have food allergies and it wasn't a concern. At all meals I was accommodated. Would highly recommend.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort

Hotel was clean, restaurants had good selection of food, service was wonderful. The grounds was well maintained We had a great 7 days. The beach was clean and the ocean was wonderful when the waves was not very strong.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Epic resort and grounds

Incredibly clean, great staff! Room and bed were fantastic. This was our 3rd time visiting the Valentin and it definitely will not be our last. The beach was clean and quiet, pools and bars were great! The food was widely varied and excellent!

Selection Riviera Cancun: It’s not me, it’s you.

I wanted so much from this resort. It wasn’t cheap so I had mid range expectations staying at lower and higher stars before. I travelled myself with two children. Kids pool was clean as was the family pool. Kids club, you need reservations at least the day before. It’s run by booking events by the hour. No drop ins. I found lady at front to be cool at best. All staff seemed short except on cleaners and maintenance. Service by the pool was slow. Like 40min to wait for a drink and you ca [... read more]n’t eat by the pool either. Only one server the entire day by the pool. Always had to wait for buffet and restaurants even though many tables open. We have a gluten allergy. We were asked everywhere if there were allergies but no one told us what was safe and the labels weren’t found on most foods. When I asked what was safe the one greeter told me I’d be safe by sticking to veggies. Ah, thanks?! Went to the store one night for chips I knew are gluten free. $14US. Sunblock $35US. Come on. On the 3rd day I asked for gluten free nachos as when I asked if the buffet had gluten was told of course. These are Mexican. So they brought me some from somewhere. They were good so the next day o asked for more. The server said but I have to get them from the bar. Rolled his eyes left, never to return. On the fourth day, server told me if I wanted gluten free pancakes ( I asked every day what they had that was safe) he said I should be ordering them the day before. So I ordered them. They came after my children had finished eating. Food wasn’t that great. Ok, I didn’t starve though I’m sure I was glutened. Drinks- pool bar even if you went direct to it, it was still a 30 min wait if there was 4-5 people ahead of you. You also got whatever they felt like making because I ordered the same drink everyday and it was always a surprise if I got what I wanted. There was zero consistency. Bartenders did not pay attention to who arrived- more so if you spoke Spanish- and seemed almost bothered with people there. Is it that hard to smile? Say ola? Buenos dias? Did I mention I tip quite a bit? I do, people work hard however, by the end of the week service didn’t get any better even when tipping so I stopped for the first time ever. Except for the room cleaner who was always consistent and reliable. I ordered a birthday cake, the request was to have buttercream with as many sprinkles as possible for a little girl. We received a fruitcake with banana filling that turned brown and was a mush mess. Kids didn’t want to eat it. $75US When I complained concierge found me by the pool and said I heard you didn’t get the cake. I said I got a cake but not the one I requested. He said okay, thank you have a good day. Here I was thinking, they would at minimum discount the cake. Nope. Charged full price. Concierge didn’t make things happen either. From complaining about the cake to why gluten free foods were. Not labeled or properly explained to those with allergies- all they said was oh they should know. I hope you enjoy your day. The beach was unwalkable and smelled. You’d think to make up for that customer service would be bang on. I won’t be back. I gave them every opportunity to make it right while there and not complain after the fact and absolutely nothing was done.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Paradise!

Spent a week at Bahia Principle Luxury SK. From getting off the shuttle in the lush grounds of the resort, to entering my room, eating at the buffet (after a long day of not eating), and then relaxing by the pool on that first day, I knew that the week was going to be nothing but amazing. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, and the a la carte restaurants and the buffets had an abundance of delicious food, which appears to cater to everyone's taste. I have no negatives to say about the resort and plan to go back again very soon.

The Sens Riviera: Sunscape Akumal

Beautiful grounds, close to the beach...needs some updates, friendly people. Smaller resort...good food at the ala carte restaurants, buffet had smaller selections....but that's all I needed... We all know of the sargassim hitting the caribbean sea...the workers kept up with removing it. Overall the 5 of the 7 days was very manageable... 2 days seemed higher....

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Don’t go here!

This resort smalls so bad from all the Rotten seaweed, that washes ashore. You can smell it as soon as you enter the resort. The resort has no beach the swimming pool is small and there is never any chairs and as soon as you arrive, they hit you with timeshares for the Hilton. The bars don’t open and will not serve you until after 11 o’clock. The Buffay is small and has the same food almost every meal.
