Just back from a 1 week vacation with my husband and 2 adult children and we had a great stay at the Bahia Ambar! The grounds were kept well, the service unbelievable, the Food options the best we have ever had at any resort! The rooms were a perfect size with lots of space! Would highly recommend
The resort and vacation were overall amazing! We would definitely return! Great value for the dollar.
This was my first time to Mexico and I was a bit anxious about getting sick from the food and water and about feeling safe.
We stayed on the resort for the entire vacation (as we were only into R & R) and we always felt safe.
I took advice from a friend and took 'travellers probiotics' and a shot of tequila everyday. Those two things, and the provided bottled water and amazing food, and I[... read more] wasn't sick once!
Food:
Absolutely no complaints and definitely 5 star.
The breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets were beyond plentiful, delicious and had a wide variety of choice. The servers waited on you 'hand and foot' for beverages and clearing.
This resort allowed vacationers to go to as many 'a la cart' restaurants as they wanted for dinners. We went to 5 in all and the food was impeccably prepared, well presented and served in a friendly and high class way. We even were able to eat outside 2x with a table set up with all of the finest on the sand overlooking the water! We were able to choose from 2 'a la cart' menus. Wonderful experience!
Beach:
Problem with algae. Shore was a bit rocky. Would bring rubber beach shoes if I went again. Still, the beach was good. Water was wonderful and refreshing. Neat schools of fish to observe in the ocean if you have goggles.
Pools:
Amazing! 5 star!
Plenty of lawn chairs in the sun and shade. Lots of pools. Never really felt crowded at all. There was an amazing 'infinity' pool designated for adults. It looked amazing but we never went in it because we had a young teenager. Drink service at the pool was excellent. Everyday towards dinner, a server came around with fresh fruit on a skewer. The pool we stayed at each day was quieter, and more suited for reading and relaxing. We were only disturbed one day by a group of 'drunks' including one who threw up in the pool towards the end of the day. A recommendation to the resort to make sure bartenders/security don't allow 'drunkenness' and to always keep one pool area quiet.
Grounds:
5 star!! Immaculately maintained. It was like a park.
Common areas:
Super clean, spacious, lots of neat architectural and artistic features to look at.
Rooms:
Super clean, mini-bar and waters, soaps, towels always restocked. The comfortable beds were made up neat & tight like in the army (not easy to do). Air conditioner was controllable so room temperature was nice. Lots of TV stations in different languages. A good working safe in the closet to keep valuables. Large rooms.
One recommendation to the hotel would be to try and limit the amount of times the staff went into the rooms. At the beginning of the vacation, I thought our room was being snooped in. I was worried about theft but nothing was taken. I let front desk know but no-one got back to me to explain. I soon figured there were different staff going into the room at different times to do different jobs. (Never saw that before.)
Transfers/flights:
Everything was well coordinated and pretty well stress free.
Service:
5 star!! The vast majority of the staff were super friendly, helpful, efficient and always greeted us with an 'hola'. The food & drink servers, hostesses, table clearers were especially so kind and pampering.
Special thanks to Melanie for making all of the arrangements and to everyone at the resort for a great vacation!
The resort was gorgeous, beautiful grounds clean rooms although in need of updates. Friendly staff.
Food was odd.
One important fact. The title of the resort should include the fact that it is a family resort geared for young children. The Family Fun Luxury Ezmeralda would be a better fit.
We had no idea that this was the case. Had we known, we would have chosen an alternate hotel. We love children, we just didn’t expect to see kids at 9 in the evening at the lobby bar.

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Amazing Resort
This Resort was by far my favorite in the six years we have been travelling to Punta Cana. From the outstanding service provided by Heather from Trip Central to the Resort Staff, I have no complaints whatsoever. From the day we arrived until we left the staff were amazing and always had a smile for you. We ate at the buffets for the 12 days we were there and found plenty of variety and the food was amazing. Grounds are clean and rooms are kept clean. I would definitely recommend this resor[... read more]t to family and friends.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Nice Resort
The resort was very large, well maintained with lots of staff. Grounds where gorgeous and pools where great. At times felt the buffet for dinner felt it was the same. The ocean front was not good because of all the weeds but not the fault of the resort. They had lots of people manually taking away the weeds but could never keep up to it.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Older resort with great service and amazing food,
We’ve stayed at 2 of the other properties onsite and this seems to be the older of the 3 with smaller rooms. But the food and service were very good. Francesco in the dining room at breakfast every day was excellent. I was travelling with a broken leg, which wasn’t easy as the pathways are very rough, cobblestone and my knee scooter wasn’t designed for 4wheel drive. I advised the resort in advance that I had a broken leg and wheelchair and was given a ground level room close to the lob[... read more]by, however it wasn’t “accessibleâ€. The bathroom was so small that the door hit the toilet when opened, the tub was difficult to get into especially with a half glass door. I’m lucky my injury is temporary. I don’t think someone in a wheelchair could have managed. The knee scooter is half the size and I barely fit into the bathroom.
Everything else is similar to other resorts: people saving chairs with the towels even though signs says not to, weak drinks, and lots of seaweed on the beach. Also, the timeshare people lied to our faces, saying they weren’t selling timeshares. Be careful.
But the food in the buffet and a la carte restaurants is excellent, the staff are very friendly and provide great service.
We would go back but not with a broken leg.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing!
The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The food was delicious (so many options). The staff were friendly and helpful. We did however get served a bottle of wine at the seafood place and were only told after that it was from the wine list not the house wine, we were charged $35 for it.

The grounds were beautiful, the food was spectacular and the staff were very friendly and always willing to help in any way possible.
The pools and beach were stunning and restaurant service and poolside service was excellent.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Unless you need to be on the beach, why stay anywhere else!!!
This hotel is fantastic from the rooms to the food / drinks to the grounds. Absolutely wonderful. Being adults only, the resort is very peaceful, away from the highway and family resorts. It is in the jungle but the trolley rides to the beach, the Hacienda or to other resorts were quick. We never waited more than 5 minutes.
The buffet restaurant is the best I've ever had! Lots of choices! The 24 hours snack bar would make you fresh food at 3am and the butler service around the pool[... read more] and at the beach were a nice touch.
The rooms were modern and very cozy. We had a regular room as we didn't see the need for a hottub so I can't comment on that!
But all in all, dollar for dollar, this is our resort from now on. Why pay more for the same!
***Small Tip*** since this resort is approximately 75 minutes from the airport, we booked a private transfer. Waiting for the bus and going through other resorts to drop people off was my issue the last time we visited the Bahia and will never take the bus again.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Wonderful first experience in Mexico
Our stay at the resort was excellent! All of the workers are very friendly and helpful. Best way to get around is by passenger shuttle rather than taxi because it is MUCH cheaper. They are parked on the side of the highway right outside of the resort. Strongly recommend staying away from excursions and planning things out on your own to save a lot of money. But if you have a family and/or booking excursions is just easier for you go ahead. Not much else to say, resort lived up to expectations pe[... read more]rfectly!

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Good resort!
It’s great that you have access to two resorts for a variety of pools and restaurants. Buffet menu is almost the same daily even though it features different themes but selections are plentiful so don’t need to eat the same everyday. Unfortunately the beach is awful and full of sea weeds that workers rake endlessly but can’t keep up with so much weed. No room to walk the beach. Resort itself is beautiful.

Cayo Levantado Resort: Best vacation to date!!!
We stayed at the Luxury Grand Bahia Samana - the resort was beautiful! The staff were amazing!!! We would order room service everyone morning, two pots of coffee, Jose M would bring our coffee to us, always with a smile. One morning he showed up with our coffee before we had even made the call. Jose the pool bartender was very fun and always accommodating!!! Roberto, the lobby bartender was friendly and always made sure we were taken care of. The entertainment staff, Darling, Black Barbie,[... read more] Seviel, Abigail, and others were fantastic!!! Darling greeted us at the pool everyday with a smile and his fun friendly attitude!!! Black Barbie was fun and always got us up dancing. Saviel was the most fun for me as we played numerous games of backgammon and he had us all laughing - he was great at losing LOL! We were not expecting any shows at the resort and we were pleasantly surprised that there were shows there, the Michael Jackson show was quite impressive and probably our favourite! We also took the shuttle over to Cayo Levantado to see the resort there and spend the day at Bacardi Beach. What a spectacular island and definitely somewhere we want to go to one day.
All in all, we would give this resort a 20 out of 10!!! We'd go back in a heartbeat!!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: not bad.. not the best
Hi folks.... I contemplated weather or not to write any review because it feels lousy to have anything bad to say about travelling to a great tropical destination and complaining... Then I remembered we work hard to get a vacation and we pay for it, it should be great so If I was signing up to do it again I had to ask myself if I would be back to Grand Bahia Pricipe Coba
the short answers no.. the reason is service.... and lack of it
FYI check in time is 3pm >>> Remember this if yo[... read more]u plan on arriving early.. upon checking in you are welcome to stand around with your bags for 2 hrs while you wait to unpack.. welcome !
If you are on your way to Bahia Coba don't worry your going to have a good time if your there for a good time.. We are a happy bunch and it takes a lot to spoil a day but there were a couple of bumps.
- unfortunatly our trusting nature worked against us in the room security.. We hid the key to the safe in a lousy easily accessible spot, easily accessible for anyone looking for it that is...... that cost 90$ U.S. and a bit of a day 2 bummer but ... hey don't blame the hotel for an individuals actions, We have stayed at hotels where you just don't have to watch out like that.... also in Mexico
- the main dining area (not the premium lounge buffet breakfast/lunch) service is absent.. you get a well set table and thats it your on your own.. once your done feel free to blend into the flow of people and like it never happened, just go do something else like try to find that drink you were hoping to have with dinner.. it seems the staff are inundated with trying to stay ontop of the ever changing crowd, its all they can do to make up the tables before theres more tables to clear and its forever like this.. the stuff like drink orders and clearing plates or communication are not a part of dining here.. That was lousy. I don't fault the individuals rather lay blame on the hotel for the number of staff tasked to compete with the volume of guests..
- The pools ---- have life guards that circle like hawks making sure kids don't run .. or jump .. or go 2 at a time down the slides... they are on the whistle all day... Honestly this place is sucking the fun out of swimming especially with kids.. loosen up .. we are only here for a good time
the lack of service mixed with the pool rules had us feeling as if we were stuck at some lousy camp.... just a buzz kill.....
theres good stuff here too::: the grounds are generally clean well kept and beautiful. They do a good job down at the beach with the seaweed.. The food is really yummy...
our kids 7 and 4 spent a few hours in the kids club and the staff there are angels.. awesome .. fun and great. it was nice, gave us a chance to have a mom n dad lunch and joke about the service..
Honestly its otherworldly to be in that environment where waiters can just look right thru you and not respond.. just take it as it comes .... I mean the attitude, the drinks aren't coming :)
seriously this place makes you feel like its a bad day at the office.. your in a floral T shirt trying to vacation amongst an army of super hard working people struggling thru the day... I can't chill here
how about coming back to your room .. everybody sun soaked and pooped can't wait to cool off 4-5 pm the rooms going to be clean right.. nope ...
heres an inside tip for parents looking to come here.. We paid 245.00CAD for a family suite upgrade... when reading online it looks like its a great value with a bunch of stuff.. rooms are exactly the same as regular suites, it means your villa is closest to the kids water park.. thats it... nice
we only go to 4+ star hotels.. looking for tropical paradise is one thing but feeling welcome for a week is really important to us too... thats not here
in the fall we are headed back to the Mayan, Karisma resorts lay waste to any other resorts we have been to hands down.. we travel as a family .. Sensatori and the Fives are bliss..
If you end up here make the best of it... a bad day the the golf course is better then a good day at the office ! Ciao
