Melia Jardines del Rey: nice resort

They need to spray for mosquitoes. The main buffet is way to small for the amount of people. Room was nice and clean but no water pressure. Staff very nice and professional .........................................................................................

Melia Varadero: Beach was gorgeous!

The hotel was fantastic! My friend and I went for 7 days and had the greatest time. We met so many people because we had an open attitude to saying hello to all the friendly travellers and employees. Employees , especially the daily bartender crew were so great! A trip we won’t forget. I’m happy we went into downtown Veradero too. One thing I would say is the bar could use a general upkeep and cleaning as bugs were crawling around. More entertainment needed at the resort. Room had dirty sh [... read more]eet and moldy cup holders but after that everything fine and bathroom was spacious. Enjoyed the volleyball on the beach! Would definitely return to this resort.

Melia Las Dunas: Santa Maria Meli las dunus

Second time there and again loved the beaches Blue cheese and calamari fantastic. A fantastic family afternoon on a cateraman cruise. Always fresh food and every meal can be cooked infront of you I love Cuba!!

Hotel Vigia: Beach is a five star

This resort is all about the beach! Quite possible one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. The hotel itself has a few issues, The Beach and the swimming in the ocean has NONE. No issues. Hotel is in a dire need of repair. rooms very dated and many issues linger from the devastating hurricane only 2 years ago. The Sol is a diamond in the rough that needs a lot of polishing. Beds need to be replaced as well as pillows and blankets. Buffet food is okay, in fact quite good. The issue is the amounts: Get to buffet first call or risk no deserts at all. 6:30 door opens for dinner buffet, and 6:45 the nice deserts are gone. The a la cartes are quite good and worth the trouble, but they need a better reservation system. It seemed to change daily. Would go back indeed if we ever decide to visit same resort twice, as the beach was worth it. We got a great 14 day deal at a price that most people pay for 7 days, so we had a lower expectations that was surpassed by the beach, the food and the great staff.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Terrific time

This is our 5th time at this resort and once again, we had a terrific time. The resort has a lovely sandy beach, the food, drink and entertainment are very good and the staff is excellent, very friendly.

Melia Varadero: Wonderful time away

Melia Varadero was one of the best resorts I’ve stayed at in Cuba! From the beautiful well-kept beach to the great adventures downtown Varadero, there is something for everyone. My friend and I went mid-March and had a wonderful time. We had a standard room which was nice, bed was comfy, kept very clean, only downfall was the calcium buildup all over the sink handle and in the shower. As for [... read more] the rest of the resort, very well kept and clean, service at main lobby bar was ok during the day (bar tenders could have been a bit more lively), but the bartenders at the pool and beach and at the lobby bar are night were incredible, friendly, out going and fun! The food at the buffet was really good, variety was goodt, and service wonderful. The a la carte were very tasty and again service great. The daily entertainment at the beach included volleyball tournaments and aqua aerobics which were a lot of fun, from kids to the elderly partook. The nightly entertainment unfortunatrly I would say the biggest downfall of his resort. The nighty shows /events were not that good, not wel coordianted, and overall boring. In addition for those younger folks (20-35), the resort gets quiet really early around midnight, and the piano bar closes at 1230 AM. However there is a 24-hour snack bar open around the clock with food and drinks but I would advise against the food, not very good. Also, getting to downtown Varadero couldn’t be easier. With a hop on hop off bus for 5 pesos all day (rate and times change at night time) a block or so down the resort, easy and quick to get there and explore the markets and restaurants. And for those interested in the night life in downtown Varadero, couldn’t have asked for more safe and fun experience as 2 young women. La comparsita, la cueve de la pirata, and la bamba are great spots for either live salsa/Latin bands, salsa shows and dance clubs, respectively. Some other highlights: beautiful villa called Masion Xanadu just down the beach past the neighbouring resort (Melia las americas) provides one of the most stunning views I’ve ever seen overlooking the golf course and ocean from the roof top patio in a historical, world heritage site! Shout out to few of the nightly bartenders Dayan, Onedio, and Alexander! So much fun, attentive to service delivery, and kind.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great Resort

Our room was very clean and well kept by our maid We had the "elegance" package so our beach towels were already in our room when we arrived. The beach was amazing and the pool areas were clean and tidy with the pool boys regularly making the rounds to make sure all was in order The entire resort , lobby area , buffets, a la carte restaurants were all taken care of . Tryp Cayo Coco: Beautiful Tryp

Don’t miss this old gem. Best beach, best pool, best pool bartender , great food and most important friendliest staff you will find. It may be a little old but that just means it’s aged to perfection. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Great Hotel

This hotel may be old but I would recommend it over the other hotels on Cayo Coco, I’ve been to 8 at least. Food is great here, drinks are cold and staff are like family. Don’t pass this place by, you will be sorry.

The grounds were nicely kept; our room was clean and well serviced. The food was flavourless and not well cooked, although there was a wide variety. One had to add black pepper and salt in most cases. PLEASE PUT HOT PEPPER SAUCE ON THE TABLE to give the food some kind of taste! I would recommend this hotel to a friend simply because it is nicely set up, lots of comfortable seatings and has a welcoming feel to it, BUT I would definitely warn them about the food.

Melia Marina Varadero: Nice resort and clean rooms.

The furniture was very dated for just a five year old building. Employees were very nice. Forgot how bland the food is in Cuba. Not very hot either. No music at piano bar. Would be nice to have some kind of entertainment there.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Not The Best

The Melia Peninsula Varadero seemed to be worn out. The buffet served did not have very many options to choose from especially in the morning. I was expecting wonderful fruit choices, but only had mango and guava. We didn't see a banana the whole week there. They ran out of French fries, hamburgers and hot dogs at the 24/7 snack bar, and could only offer pizza. Melia Jardines del Rey: Beautiful resort, but service slow

The first night was not good!! They gave us a room on the top floor to start with and we are seniors. I have problems with my legs and my cousin has hip and back problems. The next room we got was on the first level After arriving in the room with our luggage we noticed a mildew smell and then water on the bathroom floor into the bedroom part. We had to go back to the main resort which is only about a 5 minute walk, but it was pouring rain! They finally gave us a room on the second level in [... read more] a different building. It was very nice, clean and comfortable. We also had a bad experience at the main bar. We stood there for at least 15 minutes waiting to get served. They just looked at us and ignored us. We finally left and went to another bar.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great resort

Dining was okay.The beef was a bit rough.The washrooms need some renovations.Most of them were broken, the locks.The condos were very spacious,but there was a smell of musk. The beach to far.sometimes could find Anyone to drives us.

Hotel Camino del Mar: A bit disappointed

We were disappointed that we did not get the first floor as requested and had to climb 32 stairs to our "old" room that was right above the bar and the nightly entertainment. The room was in need of some updates.. Beach was beautiful...would recommend this resort for the beach alone ... But the pool liner was torn in several places and not much shade available. We have been to Cuba about 16X over the last 20 years and we saw signs of improvement in the dining over the years but it seems to have [... read more] taken a step back...the buffet was identical for our 7 days & the options were not appealing. The service at the bar was extremely poor...and we are tippers! We decided this would be our last vacation to Cuba!

Sol Varadero Beach: Nice Resort

The grounds were beautiful. BBQ lunches and dinner the best and breakfast omelets tastety. Rooms very clean. Waitresses very friendly especially Elisa. The only complaint would be out of the 9 days we had a bottle of water only two times. We had to beg for water which was very upseting. Talked with Customer service twice and said problem would be solved. Well she went to the office and gave a bottle after I had to demand it. We had to demand water prior to talking to her. Memories Cayo Largo: A great vacation for your money

The resort is very clean and beautiful. The rooms on the ground floor are at a 3 stars level whereas the ones on the 2nd floor are suppose to be much better but are reserved for customers returning to the resort. The service is very good. All the workers are friendly and smiling. There are very entertaining shows every night. The food is not great quality but enough variety even for me who is a strict vegetarian.

Paradisus Varadero: Pretty but that's all

This hotel was very nice as far as rooms, pool, beach area and food in buffet a little above the usual Cuban fair. The customer service was extremely poor. Spent a whole day asking for water (3 visits to reception-manager the next day...). It was like asking for gold. The drinks were very poor. The beach waiter said it best. I asked what was good. "Beer". No margarita, no daiquiris, no specialty coffees. No red wine on Sunday night.....The workers all seemed very discontent no smiles there... [... read more]anyway you get the jest of it. I thought it may be related to the fact that I took the basic rate and not Royalty Rate but those people were even worst off service just as bad and they had no beach on their area and had further to go for anything they were even more disappointed. Cuba is too windy too many red flag days on the beach for me. I'm done.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Lovely resort

Loved the hotel. It was not to big and the layout of it was easy to get around. Lobby area was open and airy. the room was decent enough. food was great, had lots of flavor and a great selection. And my favorite was the fabulous beach! Of course the Cuban people are always kind , hardworking and lovely to talk to.

Sol Palmeras: Very busy resort.

This is a very busy resort in the month of March. We thought it might be quiet booking after the March break but that was not the case. Staff handled it very professionaly and did a great job. The food was excellent and never too little. The a la carte restaurants are very good as well. If you get the opportunity to take in the water show at the pool do so, it was very well done. The only downfall is there are no restrictions on reserving chairs by the pool or beach. I believe that every resort  [... read more]should have a 15 minute restriction that states if a towel is left on a chair and no one sits there in 15 minutes the staff can take it and give the chair to someone else.
