Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Amazing Girls Trip!!

The staff were friendly and felt like family by the end of the trip. We were greeted well, staff at the pool bar where fun and loved to joke around, the buffet staff were always ready to welcome and bring us to the table and service us!! The resort has trolleys to pick you up if walking is a challenge or too far to go to where you want to go and that was very helpful, as we had someone who needed this service often in our group! Cuban residents there can not exchange Canadian change (loonies and toonies), so better to go with dollar bills. $20 Canadian was approx. 14 pesos! Food was decent. We were excited to see some greens on the last few days (brussell sprouts and leaf lettuce) but we ate fairly well. lots of eggs and fish but amazed at what they can do with a hot dog!! Pool bar had good pizza, chicken and fries and tuna sandwiches. Drinks were free flowing and well received. We will miss Hector, Andro, Carlo and Leidy (buffet servers), Dany (pool restaurant server), Vania and for sure, Valentin at the pool bar!! You all, are now part of our families and were vital parts of our trip enjoyment!! Great work and hope to see you all again!!

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: What a Difference a Year Makes

Last year after Hurricane Irma we visited the hotel and it was in great shape. This year the foliage has fully returned to all the trees and the flowers are out in bloom. Work has continued on upgrades to this resort. Just before we arrived a new GM/Director was installed replacing the former who arrived last January. The Tex Mex restaurant was closed for renovations but was available off nights in the Mediterranean. Although it is considered off season all facilities were operating. The staff a [... read more]re the heart of this resort and do an excellent job in making sure the guests are priority one, Food was quite good and of course plentiful. Lobster for some reason is not available as before and now must be paid for if requested (18 cuc) as well the was no calamari which may change. We had no problems changing beach towels when required. The beach is in great shape with lots of fine white sand. There are plenty of loungers and shaded areas on both the beach and pools so no need to save anything early. The CIGAR BAR/LOUNGE is now open behind the Lobby Bar where cigars and Vintage Rums can be purchased by the shot or bottle at reasonable prices. That is cheaper than the Duty Free prices. The Lobby bar is non smoking under the roof and the pool bar has gone non smoking as well. The new GM asked for our thoughts and concerns and is always about meeting with the guests and staff. There were some 27 or more return guests on this trip and we all met at the Returning Guest Dinner which is held weekly and attended by senior hotel staff and guests . No see me's were out in force after dark and early mornings until the sun was fully up and spray was required. Many first time visitors were amazed at the smaller size , the staff, and food and have said they are planning return trips, some as soon as January. We are now looking forward to our next visit in April.

Very nice grounds. Great job taking care of our room.. Easy check in and out. Lots to do. Beach and water was the main attraction. Entertainment was exceptional in some cases and sad to think they will never be more than a hotel act because of where they live. A different story for them in another country. Good choice if you are planning on Cuba

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Beautifiul and Clean Resort. Friendly Staff

The resort is large with many ammenities. If needed, carts will taxi guests to where they need to go. The a la cartes were good, but seemed undersubscribed. The butlers were eager to please with the little extras that make a vacation special.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Pleasant relaxing week

We stayed at the Golden Tulip the first week of November 2018. Overall good week. No shortage of beer! The beach is awesome. We aren’t pool people, but the pool looked clean. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The food was good. Loved the salmon and beach grill pork barbecue. There was a bug in our room a couple of times but we were on ground level and that can happen. We would go back!

Melia Buenavista: Still beautiful as ever

Once again our stay at Melia Buenavista was amazing! This was our 4th time here and glad we decided to visit again this year. Everywhere is clean, people are very friendly and food was great! The last 3 visits the food was not the best as we would always go to other resorts for dinner but this time we didn't want to eat anywhere else. It was great seeing our friends Lester, Ornesis, Lewis, De La Torre and many many more and our new friends Joan and Armando who were our butlers this time. There are a few things that need to be addressed at the front desk when first checking in ... you really don't know what to do or who to see if this is your first time there. Even with it being our 4th visit it wasn't a smooth start with interruptions while checking in, told checked in but we weren't given our key to go to our room right away and when we did meet our butler he was asked to take another couple that checked in after us then when he did come back he was taken away again...it took well over 30 minutes of waiting just to get heading to our room. This needs to be a lot smoother and much friendlier greetings and needing to acknowledge people standing people waiting in lobby area and need to understand and speak English better when at the front desk. Other issue was after the second day the coffee and juice in the room was not replaced daily and we had to ask at least 3 times over the next 2 days to get coffee. I do like the idea that they now include a kettle and definitely will bring tea bags next time to enjoy on the balcony. They also have an amazing spa with a cool water Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna and lots of treatments to try!! Yes there are imperfections all over the resort but the friendly staff and beautiful location helps make up for all the little cracks, paint chips, etc. Overall it is a beautiful peaceful resort that offers you many beaches to relax and enjoy being in Cuba. My husband and I enjoy visiting and will be back again next I'm sure! If you like not rushing to grab a spot at the pool or the beach and enjoying the atmosphere this is for you.

2 nd time at the resort...very friendly staff..only draw back is the 1 and a hour drive to the resort..food is good, al le carts were good...beach amazing....not to much to do at the resort...but thats ok as was there to relax...

Valentin Perla Blanca: Second visit to this resort

Hotel and grounds were well maintained. But not as impressed as first visit. Couldn't get Beach towels replaced. Ran out of beer after second day and they started taking them out of the fridges in the rooms. Half the resort was open and couldn't get a Beach chair in the morning (they ran out) so had to wait till after lunch to go to beach. We did have an amazing maid! And the staff is very friendly. Playa Cayo Santa Maria: The best trip ever. Literally...EVER!

6th time in Cuba, have stayed elsewhere previously, and Playa Cayo Santa Maria is #1 in CSM. We walked up and down the beach and PCSM has the best stretch. Friendly, happy staff. Grounds and rooms are spotless. Smaller resort, so it's easy to get around. Restaurants and bars all over, including at the beach. Really genuinely loved the whole experience, we are happy to endorse Playa Cayo Santa Maria, and this is the only resort we'll stay at in Cuba from now on. :-)

kindly note the following: it is off season at this time; the phones in the room do not work due to Irma; buffet and a la carte restaurants were more than fine; towel service for the beach was sketchy on a few days; lots of sun and beach to walk; good idea to put a towel on your lounge chair at the beach as it will fill if you go on off season; overall I enjoyed my trip however if you have fussy or people used to luxuries than they should not come here as they will complain

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Awesome Vacation!

Spent a week at the Golden Tulip Aguas Claras Resort with my 2 sisters. We had an amazing time. Had plenty of food to choose from. Never went hungry. Beach was amazing as always in Cayo Santa Maria. Large rooms and clean. Staff was very accommodating. Always did their best to make sure we were attended to at all times. Entertainment team was excellent. Made us laughed all the time and was always making sure that we were having fun. Highly recommended!

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful resort, very good service.

Clean hotel, renovated rooms, modern decor. Rooms do not smell mold either not humid (the AC works perfectly). The service is very good. The food is good, maybe not as much variety but still very good and fresh. The resort deserves 5 star. The beach is clean. There are two big pools.

Very pleased with this resort. Stayed in building 60. Ideal location to pool,beach,lobby etc.Friendly staff always pleasant and helpful. Yoel our butler,Yasmani gives amazing foot massages.Many others who's names I can't remember.The beach is the best!!

Grand Memories Santa Maria: The resort was clean and nice

The resort was great, service good , beach amazing best beach. at night the walkways were dark and you could not see, not good when there are holes everywhere. Also at about 6 pm every night they fogged the resort for masqitos, they really should warn the people so they could be in there room or the restaurant because the stuff is toxic and stinks. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: One of the best Cuban Resorts I've stayed at.

What made this resort stand out for me are the following: The grounds are beautiful and lush and well manicured. I have not seen this at the 5 other Cuban resorts that I have stayed at, in the same price point. The butler service was wonderful for arranging our a la carte dinners. They also helped to replace a coffee pot. Arrange for a closet door to be put back on. The entertainment/fitness crew came around and talked to us. They had some fun inclusive activities at the pool. They played great music that you could move toward or away from if you wanted quiet. The crew offered foot rubs for tips. These were wonderful and it gave us a chance to chat with them and learn more about Cuban culture. The evening entertainment in the lobby of the Sanctuary section was superb. I loved the Cuban music. There was a classical jazz guitar player one night who had the room sitting on the edge of their seats listening. If it was raining they played inside and if the weather was clear they played outside. They also had a DJ who kept the party going after the live musicians, every night except Sunday. The Memories dance team who put on the entertainment in the theater was very good. The Michael Jackson show (brought in for this show only) had very talented male dancers. That show was well worth the while. The beach is rocky at the Sanctuary end. Apparently it has eroded away this summer. There is still plenty of beach. We walked 5 km easily every day. The sand is beautiful white. There is some sea weed but less than I saw in the Mayan Riviera in May. There was plenty of food to choose from. The buffets offered a good selection and the Ala cartes were good too. We had Seafood, Mexican and Chinese. The bartenders were very friendly and efficient with service. The maids who cleaned our room did a great job. There was a shortage of towels but we managed by hanging our towels to dry and they did finally get a shipment of clean towels at the resort. There are places on the resort that could stand some fresh paint. Some of the public bathrooms are a bit smelly and there was often a shortage of toilet paper but over all not too bad. At least all the toilet seats were present and it seemed staff were available to clean on a regular basis. Our room was close to the pool area that we sat at, so we used our own bathroom regularly. Melia Buenavista: Nice place!

Great resort with white sand beaches and reefs close by for snorkeling on calm days. Watching sunsets to the tune of live music and sipping a sparkling wine is a nice idea. Live music for an evening entertainment provides a perfect end to a relaxing day. Good service at the pool and beaches. Some activities are offered for the ones interested. Resort is fairly small and well kept. Restaurants/bars provide adequate selection of tasty food and good selection of alcoholic drinks. Rooms are cleaned  [... read more]twice a day and outdoor showers add a nice touch. The only negatives we experienced are sand fleas bites on calm days and lack of some dishes from the menu at a la carte restaurants. Over all a great adults only resort for relaxing vacation.

Melia Buenavista: Great vacation

Wonderful relaxing place. Three different beaches. The main one could be very wavy on some days, but was the best place to see beautiful sunrises, the middle one was calmer, while at the west beach there were hardly any wrinkles on the water. Sunset ceremony at the west beach was beautiful every day. Food was good, fresh fruits were available at breakfast and lunch - pineapple, grapefruit, papaya, guava, watermelon, cantaloupe, apples, star fruits.
