Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Nice resort

The hotel and the grounds were very clean. Some of the finishes to the room we were staying at and around the resort looked a little rushed. The pool area is nice, but there isn’t enough chairs for everyone. The beach is actually really nice but the ocean in that area is very dirty. Looked like brown water. The water slides were great. The food was amazing and the staff were really nice. If you aren’t diamond club you can’t reserve al carte restaurants. The best kept secret is the s [... read more]ports bar for food! Overall I probably won’t go back, but it is a nice resort.

Tukan Hotel Playa Del Carmen: Provided the basics

Middle range hotel. Positives - quiet, felt safe, nobody hassled us in hotel, nice swimming pool, room cleaned daily, meal plan availabe in restuarant across the street including drinks. Negatives - room had an odor, fan was broken, ground floor balcony space was not private, one of the shower faucets did not work. 10 minute walk to beach. Playa del Carmen public beach was not very peaceful because of many vendors. Sargassum sea weed had to be cleaned up daily. Transfer back to airport (supposed [... read more] to have been provided by Air Canada vacations) was hard to arrange (no contact no provided, Spanish speakers at the contact number that we were given via hotel reception, hotel reception not very helpful with assisting) and did not in fact materialize, so we had to take a last minutes 70 USD cab ride to airport.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Best resort we’ve been to

Our 7th time. Has everything we want - the layout makes it seem smaller than it is, grounds/landscaping is excellent, food is great, rooms are very comfortable, & staff are the most friendly we’ve met

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Just as good the second time around

It had been six years since we visited the Platinum Yucatan Princess, and the resort is still in very good condition. Our Junior Deluxe Swimout room was beautiful, and while our patio wasn't quite as nicely finished as the Platinum Deluxe Swimout we had in 2017, it was still lovely to sit on my patio by the pool, drinking coffee while listening to the multiple species of birds singing happily every morning. Housekeeping was overall very good, with some odd service times but never intrusive. The  [... read more]selection at the buffets was INCREDIBLE... food quality was excellent and still the best among any resort we've been to. All of the a la carte restaurants were very good, with a couple of exceptions; at Aroma, my wife ordered the catch of the day (Snapper), which was drenched in butter. So much butter that she could not taste the fish. Service at Rodeo was very slow the night we ate there, but they did seem short-staffed. Out waitress WAS working very hard and we truly believe she did the best she could. Our meals were very good. There were loads of activities, the evening shows were great - particularly the Burlesque and Grease shows. Party pool entertainment crew was great, and the atmosphere here has something for every adult - if you want quiet, you can have quiet. If you like to party, the big pool is the place to be. Dining options are terrific, and there are so many spots where you can just sit and relax. One thing that struck us about this resort both times we have visited is how immaculately CLEAN it is. The staff go above and beyond to make it beautiful. The only unfortunate thing about this visit was the condition of the beach. This is a Mexico and environmental issue and in no way is reflective of this resort. The buildup of sargassum was awful, and the smell at times was overwhelming. The beach was unswimmable, and difficult to walk most of the time. Kudos to the staff for doing their best to manage it. Those guys are incredibly hard workers.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great beach

The resort is very big. Lots of pools, the mall and markets are fun for shopping. A La carte restaurants were ok, rooms needed updating, buffets were good. Lots of fresh food and we loved the Mexican coffee! Entertainment was good but too loud. Wish they could have turned the volume down a bit. We were a family of 5 and booked two rooms and were disappointed they would not give us two rooms with double beds instead we had to settle for a king and a couch (not a fold out!) We booked two double ro [... read more]oms so our teenagers would have their own beds. Maybe they need more rooms with double beds? My daughter had to sleep on a couch which after paying so much didn’t make us very happy.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Excellent vacation at the Barcelo, as usual

We had a great time - loved the room, which was updated and had great amenities. We left a note asking that the air conditioning be left at a higher temperature, where we set it (as they kept turning it down to 20c which we found too cold). Only issue with the room was the Wi-Fi router (?) which had a very bright green/yellow/red flashing light facing the bed - bright enough to keep us awake. We fixed this by draping a facecloth over it to dampen the light. The food was great - especially a [... read more]t the buffet, which also had a nice atmosphere (better than most we've been to) - our favorite was the outside dining space, right beside the ocean. We went to four restaurants, our favorite was the French, followed by the Steakhouse, then the Brazillian. We also visited the Seafood - which was okay, but we wouldn't return as the menu options weren't as good as we'd hoped. Beach was great - a bit rocky at the Palace end, but we took water shoes which worked well. There was sea weed, but the staff were really good at clearing it, both early morning with tractors and during the day with wheelbarrows. Most days it cleared up quickly, and wasn't an issue. Last couple days were stormy, so there was more, but they managed it well. There were loads of beach chairs, and the palm trees have grown well, so there's lots of shade available. We spent time at the pools in the morning, before the spring breakers got there - then we moved to the beach, so had the best of both worlds. Although there were a lot of spring breakers there, the hotel staff managed them well - kept them entertained, and very quickly dealt with any behavior issues. It would've been nice if the dress code was enforced, and also if there was a dress code for women, as some of the outfits were totally inappropriate.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Barcelo Maya Beach

The grounds were beautiful and well kept, rooms clean, buffet could be better, ala cartes are great. The biggest problem was the spring break kids partying till 4am every night, slamming doors, screaming etc. I didn't mind one night of it but by the 5th night it was enough.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Excellent Service - Resort Needs Work

I will state that the service at this resort was 2nd to none - the people were incredible which made the holiday what it was. The grounds, the selection, the pools, the beaches and bars all fantastic. The issue I had with this resort was with the rooms and some of the food offerings. The rooms are tired and that is being polite - cracked floor tiles - furniture from the 70's and a mini fridge that held next to nothing. In addition, extremely good air conditioning (even when on low) but n [... read more]o extra blankets to be comfortable at night. The hot water was great but the water pressure was extremely poor. The bed was comfortable but the sheets were old and stained. I will however state that the cleaning attendant was just amazing and made up for some of these downfalls. OK - the food - its all inclusive and is bound to get repetitive and I can deal with that however certain foods are meant to be hot and not served at room temp. This happened quite a bit and I would also warn people that some of the pay for options did not pan out either. I spent over $40 USD for a lobster and well all I can say - DONT - was extremely small and again room temp in some kinda gross butter substance. Anyhow - I had a great week - Air Canada was spot on except for the private transfer to the hotel - that was delayed 1 hour but both flights and luggage retrieval was great. The hotel gets a BIG YES for its people and its service and how clean and manicured it was - and gets a just OK for the rooms and some of the meal offerings. I would recommend this hotel for the people and the service but it needs some work R

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Great time

Rooms were clean, pool off the balcony on the sea side suite side was chilly. Food was outstanding, staff went above and beyond for everything. Drinks were fantastic and entertainment was great. Beach however was terrible. Rocky, lots of seaweed(not resorts fault) sand bags to step over to get further in water. Administration very pushy with wanting you to join a “ membership” presentation. We had to be uncomfortably stern to say we were not interested at all. Long drive to the airport

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Great all inclusive spanish Hotel.

Excellent service. Clean and very well maintained. Food is great in the buffet and in the restaurants. Front beach has very good Shade and comfortable. All personnel is very kind and amicable. We have already some friends there. Pools are beautiful and very well maintained. Maintainance in all areas of the hotel is great.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Great Resort

From the food to the staff to the grounds it was great. No complaints other than it is very large. The gym was quite a distance from main resort as well as some other activities. If the beach is important to you this may not be the resort for you as it is not large , rocky bottom and alot of seaweed. It is about a 2 hour bus ride from airport.

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Fun and Relaxing at the same time!!

Absolutely loved the charm of this Mexican authentic resort! Not a lot of glass and marble, the grounds are like walking through a romantic jungle. The staff members are always smiling and ready to make sure you get everything you're looking for out of your trip.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Awesome vacation

I only have good things to say about this resort. Beautiful place, the service was extraordinary, super clean, amazing food (no reservation needed big bonus) and all staff members were very friendly. Will definitely go back.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Relaxing Holiday

Overall the resort and the staff at the resort were wonderful. The room, and especially the bed, was very comfortable, and we spent much time on our well-equipped personal patio (with easy access to the beer fridge) The resort is quite small so it was easy to get around. The food was good and plentiful. The beach was not the greatest we have seen. It is quite rocky near the shore so surf shoes are needed. The pools were great, but one big problem was the access to most of the pools was dif [... read more]ficult for someone with a mobility problem (e.g., my wife). Stairs with railing access, as opposed to just ladders, would make getting in and out of the pools much easier for older folks. The adult only pool was the exception with stair access but often the music was a bit too loud and geared to a young adult crowd (i.e., way too much rap). On another note, tripcentral was very helpful prior to the trip (thanks Tammy) and Westjet and airport transport service was great at getting my wife wheelchair help at the airport.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Excellent vacation

The resort was perfect, not too big. Pool area was awesome, weren't all squeezed in one small area. Food was delicious with plenty of options. The beach was good, but unfortunately the seaweed took over and were not able to go into the ocean for a few days, but that is outside of the resorts control.

Riu Palace Riviera Maya: Exceptionnel

We loved the food, service, rooms all around a great holiday. We specifically like the fact that all services are easily accessible. We had two young child with us and their was enough activity to keep them busy This was our second stay and will certainly go back.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Tropical paradise

The resort grounds are lush with tropical plants. The beach is beautiful blues and turquoise. They could have had more staff present at the bars and buffets as there were lines at the pool bars and not enough staff at the buffet. There was little to no beach service even though it is advertised as such. The entertainment was good. The sports bar at night should have been adults only yet they allowed children in which was not appropriate. The room was adequate with comfortable beds and pillows. Grand Palladium Colonial: Good Resort

So lots of positive for kids at this resort. Lots of things to do. Pools and rooms are wonderful. Spa is nice and reasonable. Food was just okay as well was surprised no premium alcohol. Was hard to get a reservation for the a la cartes. everything was booked up for our stay and was the first thing I did when checked in. Beach was not great at all. Lots of seaweed and rocks Service was just okay as the staff didn't speak english well

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Best vacation resort in Mexico!

Entertainment was diverse enough to suit many tastes, food was amazing, many dishes were gluten free and the hostess asked every time if there were any food allergies. Drinks were served promptly with very little waiting time. Servers, groundskeepers, hostesses, waiters, and housekeeping staff were all friendly and appreciative of any comments on how lovely the resort was. They seemed genuinely proud of their work. Most other travellers we met have been coming to this resort numerous times, now  [... read more]we know why! Rooms were well kept, spacious, and beautifully maintained. We are already planning our next vacation at you're beautiful resort! Suggestions: would like to see more benches along the walkways, for those that have knee or hip issues but still want to walk it would be more convenient to have a spot to sit while waiting for a trolley or just need a break from walking.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Hotel Amazingly Beautiful.

We had a great time, Good Health selection of Food, well prepared, variety to choose, rooms, clean, appreciate they share the same respect for environmental concerns. Staff great! I had an incident, fell and bruised my knee Life guard was there within minutes. Great Family resort. Sports Team was amazing, fantastic shows, entertainment, fitness - great rejuvenation for the week. Feedback! Very disappointed that the entire beach was not usable - stinged smelled and piles of weeds. On [... read more]ly 2 workmen was seen daily to clean up. Management did not put in any effort or shown any respect into ensuring to "Having the Beach Ready" for Spring Break, as did the other Hotels next block. Due to this every morning guests were up at 5:30 a.m.to secure lounge chairs at the pool side. "Lounge Chair Wars" Cabanas were not adequate enough to accommodate all of the rush - Did not get my money's worth! This was critical, the most important reason for my trip. Be on the Beach and be in "Natural Salt Water" Mobility - to get around the resort, more Carts were available for VIPS (Time Share) some were empty driving around, yet will not pick up anyone - Consideration should be give - that all are equal as human. If it is empty then utilized - Alll are Your Guest. However - I will visit this resort again - Amazing Staff!
