Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Fantastic!

Our stay at the Congress Palm Resort was fantastic! Special thanks to Monkey,Black Diamond, Skinny and Co Co Loco for the great entertainment and laughs. Also thanks to all the staff for the great hospitality you sure do know how to take care of your guests! The resort location is perfect right beside Ocean World. Great for your next family vacation!

Riu Merengue: Amazing resort

I did the mistake of reading the reviews before leaving for my trip. As per what the previous reviews said , I was expecting all bad things. Once I got there everything was wonderful. The staff , the room , the service , the food , the drinks. Everything! By far one of my best trips. One thing I will suggest is to look around for the prices on excursions. There are people working on the beach selling the SAME excursion or even more , for alot less money.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: What an Amazing place to get away!

My husband and I recently returned from our honeymoon at Casa Marina, and I can tell you that it was simply awesome! The room we stayed in was clean, well maintained, and the bed was so super comfortable. We stayed on the beach side, and could hear the ocean waves as we slept :) The buffet food was great for all the meals, and the a la carte restaurants were a fun change (although I did prefer having the endless selection of the buffet, being that I am vegetarian) The shows were fun, up [... read more]beat and perfect evening entertainment. Beyond the beauty of the resort, the most memorable thing was the staff. I can not put into words the amount of endless energy, love and enthusiasm each staff member has at this resort. I'm not only talking about the super cool entertainment group, but also the bartenders, the water sport crew, the serving staff, the cleaners... even the maintenance, security and kitchen staff. Literally every employee at the resort was of unspeakable high professionalism. I am so happy we chose this resort to be our honeymoon destination... because, like so many people we met on the resort, I believe we will be repeat guests!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Relaxing vacation in Puerto Plata

Pluses: 30 minute ride from the airport Quick check in (We were assigned a standard room farthest from beach but closest to the lobby) Clean Comfortable Bed and decent pillows Grounds Well Kept Beach lunchtime BBQ (we enjoyed the meat one better than the seafood one – we are from the east coast of Canada) Wi-Fi all over the resort – even on the beach sometimes Recycling initiative (no disposable cups or straws). Wine white was actually good Safe in room worked well Lots of hot water and good water pressure in the bathroom Food ‘overall’ was good Appetizers were better than the main courses in the Mediterranean & Mexican restaurants (Taco soup was good). Bottle of sparkling wine in our room for our anniversary was a nice touch. Facial tissue and toiletries were provided Clothesline to hang wet bathing suits was provided on the deck. Lots of lounge chairs available. Clock on the phone in the room with cellphone chargers attached. Dominican theme night in buffet included grilled lobster and other seafood (Thursday) Minus’s: Bathroom was a bit small and some rust was appearing around the bathtub Big Step to get into the bathtub Poor reception Cable TV and limited English channels Pushy concierge (Manuel trying to get us to attend a meeting – I call it a timeshare sell) $500 Star Rewards (We tried to use a room upgrade coupon for $140 and they asked for an additional $40 on top of it.) The difference in ocean view standard room versus other standard rooms is much less than $180 on line. We didn’t redeem any of these coupons as they all required an extra spend. No bar service on the beach – Beach bar was a bit of a walk away. We do like to walk so not a big issue. Luggage should be locked up instead of just sitting at the lobby entrance for those leaving the resort later in the day. Beach was raked only a couple of times a day and it was mostly seaweed they raked up and not necessary the garbage. There was a ‘smokers ally’ on the way to the buffet. Tableware was hit and miss – you often had to search out some for yourself. Small spoons to stir tea were rarely available. We always walked first thing in the morning and then when we went for breakfast most of the tables had been used and only partly set up again. Pool was quite deep for a family resort and for me who doesn’t swim. Lack of face clothes in our room for the first few days. Had to pay $10 per hour for late checkout. I assume if I’m late leaving that someone else is likely late arriving. Suggestions: Have someone at the beach to help find and place beach chairs. Need more communication on when stuff is happening. Perhaps a brochure in your entrance package. Courtyard is under-utilized. Need more entertainment in lobby bar before and after the theatre entertainment. Not everyone wants to go the Disco after the theatre. One night there was a lady singing and a piano player- this was very nice touch.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Scenic View

After reading multiple reviews on this hotel after booking we were sceptical. The hotel will close in April as it has been bought by Senator Hotels. We stay in the Bachata rooms for one week during March Break. The grounds were well maintained & there were plenty of staff seen in public spaces cleaning. The rooms are old, outdated & mouldy. The bathrooms had mildew & walls & drawers had mould. That was the biggest turnoff! The pool were fine but again there were broken pool tiles & chips around  [... read more]the pool & stairs. The food was what you would expect at an all inclusive. Nothing great but there was variety. The ala carte was a joke. Had to line up early to sit in a small area of the pool area restaurant for an 8:30pm seating. The food was not worth the wait! We traveling on a Sunwing package & due to weather our flight was delayed a day so we had to stay one night at the Merengue! Wow you haven’t seen or smelt mold till you have stayed in those rooms. The walls & curtains literally had black mould spots everywhere! Since we were getting in those rooms at 3am from the airport we had little choice. In Canada schools are closed down for black mould. Not sure how a hotel stays open. Would I go back? BIG FAT NO! But it won’t exist in a month anyways. Good luck to new owners who will have to do some fancy renovations. We we’re gouged since we traveled during a holiday ... it was not 4.5 stars. Maybe 3 stars. Entertainers were great at keeping everyone happy & engaged! Don’t go!!!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: my husband and i were at the riu bachata amazing resourt

,the grounds were well manicured, the staff were very friendly,,the food was ok lots to choose from but could have better choices the same every day,the rooms were very clean,my husband is a double amputee upon arrival we didn't have our disabelled room it took two days to get it.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Fantastic resort

We spent the March Break here and loved it! The resort is very clean and the resort staff are very helpful, even if they don't all speak English. If you know some Spanish before you go that would be very helpful. The pool and the beach were both spectacular. Expect to be approached several times a day on the beach by people selling jewellery, cigars etc as they are allowed to sell their products there. Just say, "No, gracias" if you are not interested. The only problem I encountered was that my room key wouldn't work several times and my room door lock broke but it was fixed right away, after I went in person to the front desk. I would definitely go back.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Excellent week at casa marina reef

All in all was a great place to stay. Beach was closed for couple days due to high waves which were amazing to watch. Pools made up for lost days. Lots of chairs and umbrellas. Unless your super picky there was a great selection of food and drinks. Bars are under staffed but flora was amazing server. Rooms although they advertise as renovated I would still rate a 3. Mattresses dirty. We had mold on bathroom ceiling. All in all was a good holiday. Paradise island is a must if you  [... read more]go. I would never book through trip central again. We were drastically overcharged and lied to about availability at this resort. We paid double and to by trip central nothing they could do.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Gran Bahia Principe San Juan

Grounds: excellent maintenance Restrooms: always clean and fresh Buffet and A la Carte: something for everyone Takara - Japanese and Orquieda- Mediterranean - fine cuisine at its best Reception and lobby: great All in all, a very good holiday! Downside: quality of beach and 1 hour from airport

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Average resort

The resort was average. I would rate it stars. I went on other reviews, most raved but realistically it was average. The food got better as the week progressed. Lots of selection but quality of food was 5 out of 10. Lots of sodium in the food. Rooms were clean but outdated and basic. Our room flooded during rain storm one night and front desk never responded until next morning until 10am. Constantly being pestered by people selling goods and services on the beach. Entertainment was mediocre. I w [... read more]ould not return. Air Canada Rouge overbooked seats and we had to wait almost until boarding for seats. We booked trip in July. Very disappointing. Weather was great and so were the folks we met. Resort was very clean and staff were nice.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Great time

The hotel was big with lots of hills and stairs. We had the last room on the hill so we did a lot of walking and stair climbing. There is shuttles that will take you around the resort. Staff were friendly and always willing to help and serve you. We stayed in the standard room and it was fine , clean lots of hot water and pressure was great. Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Great experience!

Big resort, which was great for a two week stay, plenty to explore. Excellent service and Animation crew was fun and engaging. ( thanks Monkey) Food was decent and the bartenders very friendly. Junior suite was roomy and comfortable adjoining rooms a bonus for our group

We went to emotions for our honeymoon and had an amazing time. We booked the swim up room as a little something special and loved it. There were lots of areas to go swimming and having everything close was so nice it was a 2 min walk to everything(not like the big resorts where you had to walk a mile to go for dinner or the beach). Everything was brand new and it was clear they put a lot of effort to maki g the resort clean and well maintained. The food was very good. The beds were the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in(we are in the process of buying one at home because of it). The staff were amazing. I loved that it was a small resort with no need to wait in lines. It had great swim up bars, coffee shop,and restaurants. When our flight was cancelled due to bad weather, the airline sent us to a 5star that was awful in comparison to Emotions. In one word Melrose Place stay for a great price.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Gran Ventana

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Geat Family Resort

I was very pleased to see everything was wheelchair accessible even the beach. Very very clean. Loved the coffee/tea station outside buffet beside pool. Also loved the infused water stations instead of bothering bartender. Lots of loungers and shade around the pool. Beach was raked every day where there where plenty of loungers but a lot need to be replaced. It has a small reef for snorkeling and the kids club is next to the large pool not in the woods. The food was amazing. The best fries. Even [... read more] better than Mexico. Very very friendly staff. A shopping mall just a 5 min walk and casino just up the road and very close to airport. With stops maybe 25mins

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Just like 12 yrs ago and better

I’ve been to this resort 3 times now. Last was 12 years ago. I liked seeing the new improvements, such as the bars and the nice new Buffett building. We stayed at the Reef side, but if we come again, will see about the Beach side again. We arrived late on March 6th due to the rough seas had flooded the airport. So we lost much of the first day. The plane was diverted further away. And it was sad to see the beach had been lost to rough waves. Thuogh it was amazing tomwatch. VH Atmosphere: Very happy

Hi, we were pleasantly surprised with our accommodation at VH Atmosphere. Staff were super friendly and pleasant. Food was proportionate to the number of people and was of good quality, well cooked and tasty. Resort was clean ... only criticism would be the beach. The area for our hotel was quite small and there were a lot of vendors.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Pool Nice, Beach Dangerous, Don't Travel with Air Canada

My girlfriend and I stayed at the GBP San Juan in early March of 2018. When we checked in to Pearson Airport we learned we would not be sitting together, which was fine but a bit disappointing to start the trip off, but again not a big deal. When we landed and checked out of customs, Air Canada didn't arrange a ride for us to the resort resulting in us waiting an hour or so after everyone else was transferred to their prospected resorts. When we finally got a ride the driver didn't seem to ha [... read more]ppy, I'm guessing since the resort is a good hour and a half from the airport. The ride was interesting, good to see the local culture and nightlife from the minibus. When we got to the resort at about 10:30 pm local time the buffet was still open and they let us eat before checking in which was nice. This is a massive resort, the luggage guy was nice enough to hook up some local ganga for pretty cheap. We stayed in C9 block, the room was great. AC worked almost too well, fridge was cold, was cleaned daily. The only thing was the shower pressure was spotty and the toilet worked but constantly ran so I had to keep opening the lid to giggle the float. The bed wasn't that comfortable but did the trick after a day of drinking in the sun. The room was cleaned every day. The pool was great, the beach not so much. The water is also pretty dangerous as some kayakers got swept out, one didn't make it back and it took the lifegaurds two hours for a rescue mission. By that time the poor girl capsized a couple times and lost all her belongings, not to mention the mental shock of being left alone out in the ocean for that long. The food was great. Big buffet with lots of variety, the A La Cartes were ok. The staff was friendly as expected. All and All it was an Ok vacation for the price. But I would suggest going elsewhere if you can, and don't travel with Air Canada.

Riu Merengue: Perfect Vacation

Pros: Food and drink are amazing. Beautiful beach. Live music at night! Awsome houskeeping. Access to riu bachata. Lots of pools. Paddle boarding and kayaking available!! Cons: Hard to get coffee in the morning at the main buffet. Wifi only worked for 3 out of 7 days.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Amazing staff; excellent resort!!

First and foremost, the staff was wonderful; especially our concierge Allan!! Accommodations were arranged in advance as per our email request which made our arrival easier; a twin bed and crib were installed in our room. Rooms were very cleaned and resort overall was well being lookef after. There was maintenance being done every night on the main pool as well as painting. Food was great. Large variety and always well cooked. We enjoyed all three of the à la carte restaurants! Beach  [... read more]was raked every day and huts repaired immediately if necessary. Overall, an amazing location!
