Everything was excellent. Lots of activity options and many pools to choose from. Love the water slides. Very friendly staff. Food was amazing.
Only issues for our family was the height restriction for the slides and the fact that there are no washrooms by the children area (slides/pirate ship). Far to walk to bring kids to the washroom when in this area.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Getting a bit dated
The hotel is good, just needs a bit of updating. Get there early i.e. 6 am with your towels if you want a sunbed and try to find 1 that isn't broken. Unfortunately beach unusable because of seaweed. Small complaints. The food is excellent and the staff and good. Common areas clean and well maintained. A bit of attention would help.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Catalonia Riviera Maya
Overall the resort was alright, they kept it clean and i liked the smaller size of it which made it like it wasn't overcrowded with people and it was easy to get around and there was always somewhere to get some food if you were hungry. I only attended 2 shows but the ones i went to were good, especially the rock show with a live band.
The things that i found strange were no beer or booze in the room and were just told to give the bartenders a tip and they might give you some cans of beer to [... read more]bring back to your room and they wouldn't you bring food back from the buffet and restaurants to your rooms at all. Also the reservation system for booking the theme restaurants was pretty bad and you would basically have to wake up at 3 in the morning to book a reservation for the next night or you werent getting in at a decent time/or at all and then when you go to the restaurants for dinner, they never really felt that busy.
The beach was also pretty much unusable till the 2nd last day or our trip due to seaweed and they were working on cleaning it up the whole week we were there.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Wouldn’t book here again
Unfortunately didn’t love my stay here. The agent who booked told me there was no kids water park at this one but the others connected would have it- nope ours was full of kids and water park- room was dated which we were aware of and said it was fine as long as clean and still nice it was a 5 star so I wasn’t concerned - shower was terrible rusted parts and sink was cracked. The most uncomfortable beds and pillows I’ve had on a vacation. Hotel staff were not friendly I was really disapp[... read more]ointed in the service only a few were friendly and nice. Foe the price we paid and what we got I would never go back or book through trip central again. The food was good and weather was great so that helped.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Bad Customer Service
Public areas were maintained well but Customer service was extremely bad, guests arrive from international locations and may reach hotel late in night and may leave early in the morning, restaurants should be able to serve some food. We could find food before leaving or after coming back coz restaurants are closed. And when we ask for food staff at restauran[... read more]ts were laughing as if they are giving food from free. Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Beautiful resort.
Bahia Principe Grand Coba is an excellent place to enjoy anice vacation, a very clean place and a sanctuary for wild animals. The food in the buffet is very varied and tasty, the bedrooms are very spacious and clean. The dinners in the different restaurants were delicious. The shows were phenomenal. The most fascinating is its peoples who kindly met our needs in a very profesional way. If God allows it, we can return with our children and grandchildren

Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa: A Wonderful But Rocky Resort,
Everything at this little paradise was excellent. I dont like huge complexes and this was just perfect, updated but still holds the old charm with a hint of luxury. The food, the service, the night show, the animators. The Best! It does get crowded on the beach for finding chairs but the most inconvenience were the rocks in the water. Even with water shoes you have to brace in order not to fall. We saw many who did and also one who got injured. So..perfect if you are a pool swimmer and not a sea[... read more] creature, thus low rating for me. Viva Dreams.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Will never return
The invitation to this resort was due to a wedding and 62 people flew from all over Canada to witness the celebration. My family was looking forward to a resort that would meet everyone's needs. We paid for a privilege package and this was a joke. We were told there would be carts to take you everywhere. There are carts but my husband who has mobility issues walked and walked with no carts in sight. There are carts but never when you want them or need them and forget about your upgrade tha[... read more]t provided you with no extra services. You would wait in line to get seated at the preferred restaurant for at least 30-40 minutes and then wait another 30 minutes to get your breakfast. We were told there would be lobster everywhere to eat and we never saw lobster at anytime during or stay. Our room was nice but we had no hot water for 4 days. You could never get a hold of your butler or get someone to answer the phone at the front desk. There was no ice machine close and we did not have face cloths 4 out of the 7 days. We did however have a dehumidifier which was a perk. This is not a place to go if you have mobility issues.
The pools were nice. My husband and I were unable to swim in the sea due to large rocks in the water at the beach. Food at the other restaurants were okay and the buffet was extremely busy. I did not go hungry. The drinks were awesome but you had to go to the swim up bars to get served. The wedding however was amazing and we had a wonderful time that evening and just being with family and friends.
Perhaps my expectations are too high as my husband and I have travelled to Mexico Mayan Rivera many times and we are use to a 4-5 star resort. This was a 3 star and we were very disappointed with the service and the lack of accessibility and still not sure what privilege services actually provided accept we had a room near the beach, we walked to everything and we met a butler 3 times. Once when we first arrived, second as he heard of a complaint regarding the service, and the third time was the day before we left where he asked for me to write a complaint and he picked it up and he was to have arranged for our luggage to be picked up and a cart to take us to the front lobby. Please note I wrote the complaint but we never received a cart for pick up for luggage or a cart and I had to wave down a cart to help us.
I had a break from work. I have a tan. I had a great time with friends and family but for the price it did not meet my expectations.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Fantastic Resort!!
We were very impressed with this hotel. The grounds were immaculate and absolutely gorgeous. The buildings were super clean and well maintained.
The buffet restaurant had great ambiance and though what was offered wasn’t always our cup of tea there was always something to eat. We especially liked the breakfast options with lots of fresh fruit.
We got around to eating at two a la carte restaurants even though there were three available to us. We loved the French a la carte the[... read more] Japanese hibachi was meh.
The pool was huge and gorgeous. The beach was nice as well as it had bright white sand and we always had a chair with papilla. Unfortunately we had a huge sargassum problem but that’s not the fault of the hotel.
We had a handicap room as we had our mother with us using a wheelchair. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The only critique I have is that the handicap room had very low toilets which made it very difficult to use for my mom despite the handrails.
The resort is enormous which could be a pro or a con for people as there is tons of walking though you can flag down a golf cart.
The only other critique I have is the nighttime shows or lack of them. The Mexican folklore show was wonderful but for the rest there was nothing really, even the animation team at night was sad really. During the day you could be as involved or uninvolved with activities which I suppose is the benefit of a larger resort having busy and quiet areas.
Overall we loved this lush gorgeous property I can definitely recommend this resort.
The hotel was very clean, the food and drinks were excellent and the service was amazing. We were there with a large group and they did everything they could to meet every request that we had. Not once did I make a request that wasn't met with a smile.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Best Swimout experience
This is our second time here. The resort is beautiful. We especially choose this resort for the swimout as we feel it would be a different experience if in a standard room. The pool is small and crowded but everyone seems to enjoy it. we love the peacefulness of the swimouts for this reason. The food is exceptional. Both the a la cartes and the buffet. Service is good and drinks are also good if you are specific with your requests. We will definitely return to the swim out rooms in the future. Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Loved this resort
Amazing grounds, beautiful nature and so well maintained and cared for by the incredible staff. The food was excellent, from the buffet, to the a la carte restaurants, and especially the little extras like the taco shop and Star Cafe for great coffee. We ate so well. There is so much to do at this hotel. We loved the pools and Star Camp was also terrific for the kids. Beach was beautiful even though there was some seaweed that the whole coast is dealing with. Amazing waves and beautiful clear wa[... read more]ter. Sunrise beach yoga with Isabel was a favourite activity for us and a great way to start each day. Our room was so comfortable and big. They brought in extra beds for the kids, it was perfect. We also loved the water filtration system which replaces so many plastic bottles.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Great Resort!
We stayed for 9 days, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The concierge Viviana booked all the restaurants for us, and they were all excellent. The steakhouse was OK, they did not cook the steak very well. Buffet had a good selection, and the staff were prompt and friendly.
It is a 10 minute walk to the beach, but the grounds are exceptional. Lots of green landscape, flowers and trees on your walk, plenty of shade. Lots of activities, and since there were 4 pools (some for adults only) t[... read more]here were always lounge chairs available. The beach is beautiful white sand that you can walk on. Playacar is in a secure location, security at all the gates to enter this neighbourhood. Several resorts within Playacar. We used the bikes one day, which are free, and biked to "5th Avenue", shopping district, which is just steps away from the Playacar gate.
Entertainment was very well done as well, appropriate for children and adults. I would rate this resort a 10 overall.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Nice hotel but I cancelled my March trip anyways.
Nice hotel, been here at least 10 times. butlers not pro-active, lots of new butlers with little concept of customer service. Coupon vouchers not honored. Constrution ( 1 to 2 shovels breaking rock in the distance from 7 am to 7 pm 6 days a week ) although not loud was constant. When your upstairs on the penthouse balcony, it was irritating. Bar service slow. 5-7pm afternoon bubly white wine with bite size food was nice but cheap. They called it champange. Shows ok, but no more. Buffet was good,[... read more] food signage was poor. Sign said chicken, it was fish. Most soups were very good. Alux and Mikado a la carte was very good. Ask for Silverlo at Alux and Edgar at Mikado. Tip them well ( 20 -25 dollars USD ) and see what happens next time you go. Beach was horrible, only rock everywhere ( elderly people beware, if you go, make sure you have good insurance ). Beach in front of Kay resturant was the best. You have to pay for food, not part of the resort but you can use the beach. Transportation directly to Kay beach availible every 50 minutes from Sian Ka'an. Once you get the right little cart, ask to picture the schdule. I was a black bahia member and was able to go eat at any place I wished. Akumal buffet very poor, tulum beach rest. was good, but long wait to get food. Drinks everywhere took time and weren't strong. Wine was ok. Hotel 100 kms from airport and 75 mins by bus. You have to leave the hotel at 8:30 am for a 2:40 pm flight. I was so disappointed with the butler service and construction that I cancelled my March 8 - 22th, 2023 trip. Paid $9600.00 CAN for 2 weeks in first class with Air Canada Vacation. They didn't mention anything about the construction. Nice going AC, how many couples did you scxxw over by not mentioning the construction. Even being a black member, I didn't get the room I asked for. (As a black member, I was suppose to get it.) All in all it's a very nice hotel but not worth what Air Canada is asking. DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE BEACH AND CONSTRUTION !!!

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Under staffed and long waits
Not great- but perhaps I’m a snob. Hard to get reservations in restaurants even being privilege. They refuse to accommodate larger parties than 8. Food is just ok and sparse. Often waiting for the buffet to be refilled. Only one bar tender at pool bars making getting a drink a 10 minute affair. Often hassled to become a member of their timeshares. Walls we moldy in rooms- I could go on and on.
We had an amazing time because we make the best

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Lovely holiday

When heading back to the airport we did not have to go on a bus again but a van picked us up right on time and got us to airport in plenty of time.
We hope to go back with our family someday and stay at Akumal so we can enjoy the beach more.
Great trip!! Thank you Wendy!!

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Top Tier 10/10 stay
Just spent a week at this resort and it had a wonderful mix of all adult ages and types of guests. It was a mature crowd with a great mix of party and chill. A smaller resort that was easy to navigate and we never waited in line or thought it was crowded. FOOD WAS AMAZING!! From buffet to all the restaurants we enjoyed everything we ate. No line ups at any time of day and you didn’t need to book in for reservation. Food and drinks were available at multiple locations until 10pm and food and d[... read more]rink was 24 hours but in smaller
Selection. Room service was solid but could take an hour depending on time of night. Beach wasn’t the most amazing although we were fine but you also have access to your neighbouring resort 5 min walk which has a fabulous beach. You’re a $20 cab ride into town (avoid the shuttle, not worth it) and Playa has fun for all ages. I even loved the sports park they have that includes Free batting cages, paddle boarding, rifles, archery and more.
Staff was accommodating and we didn’t have any issues with anyone trying to push things on us. We brought a couple hundred US with us to toss around for tips for the week and could not have been happier with the level of service.
All in all I would 100% recommend this resort to nearly everyone. Being 40 now we still hit Coco Bongo but again the resort was a more
Mature crowd and I would only not recommend if you’re 20 years old and looking to really giver Hahah, hit the Hard Rock.
Thanks to everyone at the Platinum Yucatan. See you again in the winter

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: 1st time definetly not the last.
We had been going to Cuba for 35 years, things were sliding there so we thought we would try Mexico and this Resort Chain. The resort was amazing, the Staff, the food, the amenities everything would be 9 3/4 out of 10. The cost was twice as much as Cuba but well worth it.
The grounds of the resort were beautiful and vey well kept. The rooms was great, we were in Building 4 nice n quiet and very very clean. The maid was fantastic. Beer, pop, and water were delivered every day for the mini b[... read more]ar. Food selection was off the charts excellent excellent excellent. Variety of foods served was great and diversified every day. Steam tables were always hot - cold trays were frosty. The grounds are huge so walking was great in the morning - you can use their inhouse shuttles around all 4 resorts but be aware that all-inclusive is only at Coba (one beach bar when at Tulum resort) - longest wait was 15 mins but other shuttle drivers were happy to take us.
A la Carte restaurants- mixed reviews from our group of 6 - worst for all was Thali (Indian), best was Brazilian & LeGourmet. Mixed for Nikkei (fusion).
As for Mexico, it was very safe don't believe everything you read. If you're up to no good (drunk, argumentative) that may be a different matter. We took the public transit (Collectivo) to Tulum ruins and did the tour ourselves there was 6 of us. Lots of National Guard presence so we always felt very safe.
I would do Mexico again and this Resort. No second thoughts and I am a tough critic.
