Club Kawama: Fantastic memories

Another unforgettable vacation at Club Kawama. From check in to departure you truly feel as a welcome member of FAMILY. With strict Covid rules in effect, we found the staff impeccable both in adherence too and enforcement of said rules. The service was easily at par with any 5 star resort I have been to in Varadero. Clean, clean, clean. Always a staff member cleaning and disinfecting in front of you, behind you. Can't wait to go back.

Hotel Los Cactus: Wonderful Break

After being closed for many months we were excited to be back again for 3 weeks. The employees were as always respectful to our needs, the hotel grounds do need some work but with the number of trees it is an ongoing task. The rooms we stayed in were clean and functional. The beach was terrific, white sand & aqua water what a site for sore eyes. This is not a 5 star resort but staff is friendly, the food is excellent, the liquors good and the wine poor. We will never stay anywhere else in Cuba.

Playa Vista Azul: Great resort

Since this was our first visit to Cuba during Covid, we were not sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. All workers were wearing facemask and all surfaces were regularly disinfected. Hotel was really great, newer, with big rooms, walk in showers and flat screen TV. Food was really good, they had good selection in buffet but on smaller scale. For l [... read more]unch and dinner they have chicken and beef grill. Really happy with our stay at this hotel. Hotel has two beaches, one with activities and one quiet. Infinity pool was nice too.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Good Value

The hotel was very Covid lax until someone tested positive then it was mask and sanitizer everyone panicking. Food decent but hotel not very clean. Staff are friendly One maid stole my sons epi pen I guess it’s expensive to obtain. Wish they would of asked I would of gave it to them.

Was very happy with the resort the people that work there are so kind and helpful. The resort property is clean and it’s beautiful to walk around. But when it comes to the food and drinks we weren’t to happy about the selection. They keep running out of different foods and you ask any they didn’t have anymore. The drinks were the same, they had only their brand of liquor. The second week was getting better for food and drinks. But overall I would go back to the resort. Hotel Blau Las Morlas Varadero Beach: Very nice Hotel

This is an older hotel and on the smaller side but it suited us. With all older hotels in Cuba they lack modern conveniences and are in need of updates. The grounds are well kept but the rooms and lobby are tired and need updating. If you can look past that, the staff are terrific and very friendly. The newer hotels are far nicer and the price reflects that. We have been to many hotels in Varadero and this one is rated correctly at 3.5 stars.

Starfish Jibacoa: Hotel in a garden, by the beach

Lovely blond sand beach. Beautiful landscaping: Royal Havana and coco palms, bougainvilleas abloom, May flower and caleta trees set in a park-like, well maintained sweet grass setting. Very quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Villas are built in a quaint 60's tropical style, with big balcony in front where we sat, read and had cocktails. There are two nice medium sized pools - for children and adults. Service is good, staff friendly, and efficient. The restaurant is nice and bright, waitresses on the ball. Food ingredients are good. However, the preparation, alas, is at best uneven. A pity. There is a small serviceable bar by the pool, and a larger lobby bar with barmen and women who are exemplary: quick, smiling, with a can-do attitude, and professional efficacy. A pleasure to encounter when you need a morning shot of caffeine, or a cocktail, anytime. The reception and PR staff are wonderful: most attentive, informative and always helpful. Our chamber maid was great, too.

Grand Memories Varadero: Grand Memories

It was a nice hotel. The beach was awesome. However, there are a lot of hungry fleas. When I was there, there were a influx of Cubans staying there hoarding all the food, had plates full putting it in bags to take home. Long lineup for food meals and no quality, ran out of food.There were servers at the buffet but they gave the Cubans plate fulls.

Club Kawama: Amazing resort

From the well kept grounds to the sparkling pool. The staff is friendly and very alert to your needs. Bartenders remember your drink of choice, to how you take your coffee. This resort is 91 years young and is updating all the time. I cannot wait to book my trip here.

Roc Barlovento: Very disappointed !!!

Recently 14 days all inclusive, room 134. Toilet leaking, faucet loose, bed linen not changed in 13 days, (only because requested). Food of poor quality - variety compared to previous years and recycled over and over again. Upstairs room leaking " water " to this room through the ceiling. Gone to Cuba for 11 years. ALL BLAMED for the U.S. " blockade " and the COVID. Photos available.

Melia Internacional: Not worth the money

Beach was beautiful. This that should have come with the premium level. Didn’t happen. Pool was not cleaned properly. Garbage floating in it. Staff overall were nice. Not a lot of beverage choices and the food was horrible. 3 out of 4 of us got sick. Will not go back. Also Varadero things shut down and closed over night. Nothing really available. Don’t buy their money. Can’t convert back. Over all just a bad experience. First time there.

Blau Varadero: Amazing resort

Hotel is clean, the room had new mattresses . Food was OK as always. The staff is #1, even through these Covid times all stuff was helpful, and understanding. Hotel seemed only quarter full, mostly Cubans but Canadians were started to build in numbers. Didn't meet any Europeans yet. We had an other good vacation in Blau.

Blau Varadero: My second home!

It was my 11th time at the Blau and 7th for my boyfriend. It was amazing same it was my first time. The staff recognizes you and knows your name. It’s like my second family. This time we were at the reopening on Dec 3rd. The hotel was pretty empty but we had good time and met amazing people. The food was good. The staff takes seriously the COVID sanitary rules. They are doing the PCR tests at the hotel and get the result in 24 hours. The beach was cleaned and they enlarged it. I also want to thank Walter, the new manager of the hotel. He’s humble because he told me that it’s not him who makes the Blau appreciate by the client but it’s the amazing staff! Et Walter parle français! I am a big fan of the Blau and encourage people to book their next vacations at this fabulous resort.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Beautiful Resort

Beautiful Resort. Plus side, Clean hotel, beautiful beaches, friendly people nightly entertainment was good, Negative, No control for A/C in the room (room very cold). No Butler service (requests unanswered) Food shortages, occasionally ran out of Preserves, Butter .Fries, Canned beer (for the room). Food not 5 star restaurant and a la carte no better than buffet. But overall good value for what we paid.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Don't get the beach towel

We very much enjoyed the resort until checkout when we had suddenly to pay for a beach towel that was stolen from my son when he went to the pool for 5 minutes. His glasses were even on the towel. We were wondering who would steal the towel within the resort. It was very upsetting as we were not even told how much we had to pay before accepting the towels and that they seem to get stolen frequently. I would have given a good rating, but the way I was treated at the end nearly ruined my vacation.

Barcelo Solymar: good resort

I had booked the Barcelo Solymar and to my surprise, when I arrived, the hotel was closed so I stayed at the Arenas Blancas next door. The Arenas was clean, very spatious, excellent beach, great pool size but no swim up bar like the Barcelo had. The food was ok as the selection in Cuba was not a choice. the staff were really nice as well. Iberostar Selection Varadero: A magical week at a wonderful resort!

Our recent week at Iberostar Selection Varadero was wonderful. It was our fourth time visiting and our friend's first time. They said they would come back for sure. Since we had been there in 2019 the hotel has had many improvements. Clearly they have used the down time due to the pandemic to spruce things up. Everything is freshened up in terms of paint and furnishings. There is an additional beach side bar with a second level, great for sunset drinks. The whole resort is in excellent shape.  [... read more]The staff were excellent and food the best we've had of the many times we have been to Cuba. The shows were all great but a few were outstanding, one night the show was of Cirque du Soleil level talent! We all look forward to going back and doing the overnight excursion to Havana that includes a night at the Havana Iberostar hotel. Special thanks for making our week so special goes to the dining room staff led by Yohani Torres.

We had a great time for 10 days.weather was great our room was on the ocean.the staff was excellent.we did run out of a few things in the buffet,but always got enough to eat.all in all great trip.going again and it will be 23 times,so we love it

Positive: Staff are Great and do their best within the limitations and constraints. Hard working and nice people. Beach is very good. Ocean is clear and nice. Plenty of sun beds. Beach staff can help to find more if necessary. Good seafood for lunch & dinner in the buffet. Good coffee/cappuccino/espresso at bistro. Good night performances. Every night was a different one. We’ve been at other different resorts in Cuba (4&5 star) and sadly this resort had the worst rooms. Very limited food quantity and variety/options at the buffet (even for Cuba). No beer at the “minibar” during the whole week, no mint, No Mojitos, No daiquiris, No Caesars. Vodka and Scotch run out at the lobby bar. No pepper or salt at a la carte restaurant (we asked for it on the side and it was never brought). No slippers, no robes. Public washroom near the gift shop (around facility) there was no toilet paper and kind of dirty. Everyone is literally smoking at the bars.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Beautiful Resort

This was our first time at this resort and we both were impressed by the hotel, the landscaping and most of all the service provided by the entire staff. No matter where we were the staff always greeted us at every turn and always asked us if we needed anything to let them know. The rooms were very clean and the maids did an excellent job in keeping the room in top shape. The dining was good and the only complaint I have is that the food seemed bland at times. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay.
