Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great value

Nice sized with less than 200 rooms. The Amnesia room was spacious,clean and well decorated. balcony view overlooking parking lot / road / golf course offered decent privacy. We had AC problems on three occasions in the same room so that was frustrating. The pool area and bar was nice. The beach area was okay with a decent bar and food area for lunch.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Near death experience

Went what was to be a relaxing fun kayak water sport adventure with 2 friends just in resort and turned deadly with the weather. Lost my friends and then lost my kayak and paddle due to white squalls and undercurrents. My friends I found out made it to shore and asked for help which took over an hour because they didn’t have an emergency plan in place so I was stuck with only a lifejacket in the Atlantic Ocean before being rescued. Then for the remaining two days of our trip they did nothing a [... read more]nd didn’t follow up with myself and the two other kayakers to see how we were doing following this traumatic experience because none of their lifeguards were watching the ocean at all only tourists who cane running and screaming when they saw me. Never go on their kayak!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great resort

Well kept resort in a very scenic area. Staff very helpful and friendly very friendly people at the resort most are repeat customers. We were pleasantly surprised with this resort. Food at buffet better than alot of places. Alacarte’s were just ok

Great fun, easy to meet folks.Great new memories ! Value Excellente ...3 times in a year, love it..New friend planning on doing it again next year because of great times..For sure beach is rocky, bring water shoes and no complaints..No snow and warm !

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro Luxury, dominican republic.March 2018

Hotel was fine. Olive Gourmet restaurant had very bad experience when they refused to let us have dinner because we were wearing bermudas pants while they were accepting people wearing jeans/leggings(Yes I said leggings)T shirts and running shoes. They would not accept a couple which the hotel had booked a reservation for his birthday. An elderly couple of 82 years old which had walked 20 minutes to get to the restaurant was refused because he was wearing knee bermudas. Manager was insulting a [... read more]nd all couples decided to eat elsewhere. People were really upset about the Manager's response. This happened at 19.15 on 3/6/2018. Shower door in bathroom did not close properly. A sewer scent came from pipes in bathroom. They gave us lemon scent to get rid of odor.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Nice resort but

This resort has good food but the liquor is sub grade. There are not enough chairs in the evening for people to sit and have a drink and talk. The beach chairs are very uncomfortable. Rooms are clean and staff are very friendly.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Review of Bachata

The grounds were well kept in the main areas, in outer areas not so much and were underwhelming. The rooms were dated and the beds/pillows were uncomfortable. The room smelled musty and worse when the underpreforming A/C was on. We kept door open for fresh air and breeze. The pool area & lobby were nice when there were not smokers nearby. The food was nice but overly repetitious. The dining area on the veranda surrounding the restaurant allowed smoking, so not so nice when you are starting a mea [... read more]l and have that blowing toward you and it wafted into the resturant. The 'main street' was half empty and only souvenir shops open. There was a gym there also but very hot, not good A/C. The beach was nice and the general area very picturesque. There were vendors approaching you on the beach for hair braiding, and water craft activities. I understand this hotel has been sold and new owners take over at the end of the month. Interested to see what they do...

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Great Resort....Great Price

This was my 6th time here and with all the upgrades they have done within the last year it was amazing. The food was great as usual, always something to find to fill you up. The new buffet look like a 5 star along with all the exteriors of the other building on the resort...what a change it was. The staff were great just like before, loved to see a lot of my old friends still working there. Paradise Playa Dorada: Spectacular beach

The restaurant on the beach with beautiful views. Small resort was very social.The staff very accommodating. Rooms are basic and dated. No elevators so if you have super saver rooms you will be taking luggage up 4 flights of stairs. Also no balconys for super saver rooms.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Nice Resort

Very well kept resort. Pleased with the quality of the shows, food and service. Location is a bit far from the airport, but the bus was fairly comfortable. We would recommend this resort to others. The price was reasonable and the value is what we had expected.

This is a nice resort. Older. It could use some updating, but they have done a good job at keeping up with it. The food was good, with a new theme (i.e Italian/Mexican) everynight with a signature cocktail. The grounds are nice, well kept. The beach is also nice, however the large floating barriers in the water ruins the view and atmosphere. Stuck to the pool. Also an hour an a half to two hour bus ride was not told to us prior to arrival.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Surprised

This resort exceeded our expectations,we new it was a three star resort but upon our arrival and once past the front lobby the grounds were absolutely beautiful. We had requested the renovated garden view room and ended up with a view of the ocean was well worth the upgrade. The staff were amazing always friendly the bartenders tried their best to serve people in order which sure doesn’t happen at a lot of five stars we have stayed at. The food was good we sure didn’t starve, not as much v [... read more]ariety but then again this is three not five stars but for the price we certainly got our money’s worth. The resort was quiet at night,perfect for a good nights sleep after a full day of sun drinks and food, in the week we were there we only saw one person that had a little too much to drink. The only thing that was anoying were the Lifestyle sales people and the vendors that set up in front of the buffet Wednesday and Thursday night. We left the resort and walked into Sosua two days which was a nice break and stopped at the Jolley Roger for drinks and sandwich and then to Silhouette for a cigar and endless coffee. Overall it was a great week and will likely return to the Cassa Marine Reef resort. Oh an added note they actually take soap and scrub brush and clean the lounge chairs something I have never seen at any five star resort.

Hotel was just the right size, I liked limit of 3 floors in any accommodation building. Food was above average. Only suggestions I have: - have more chairs available at beach - train young entertainers to be less bossy and abrupt with paying guests. I had a couple bad experiences, one playing bingo, of all things. The young gal told me to be quiet, she was the boss, and other such comments. Then half way through the game, she deserted the guests, went to a table nearby and was on her phone wit [... read more]h another employee. I told her I was the boss now and she should get back to work! Noisy around pool during day, could tone down the music and less exuberant Animation workers. If I heard "Oh, my God" being shouted one more time, I was going to ask God to wipe him out. ONe gal took a tally of how many times he said it, she stopped after 56!

Everything about this hotel is great. The location, cleanliness, food, service,. entertainment & value. The staff are friendly & accommodating, always with a warm greeting. I will always stay there when in Sosua.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Good Resort

Over all my husband and I enjoyed the resort it was very clean and all the staff there very courteous and helpful. The only issue that we had was we asked for the second floor and was put on the ground floor and we had constant water coming through the floor in our bathroom.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Excellent Resort!

Everything was very clean, including the rooms, bathroooms, etc. The staff were very friendly. The food was great! Everything was easy access to the beach and the amenities. Would highly recommend it.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great Resort- Sun Club ???

We just returned last week- this is a fantastic resort. Our room was the size of a small condo close to the beach- perfect location. Everything was great- the staff, the food, cleanliness the grounds, the beach and the restaurants. We upgraded to the Sun club and were some what disappointed - not in the amenities but the lack of monitoring on who was using them. This resort does not use bracelets so "in my opinion" anyone could these these facilities and i'm sure it was being abused. Once t [... read more]his issue is addressed I would not hesitate to re-book the Sun Club (I am a repeat customer). We have been to Puerto Plata 10 times previous and this resort is our favorite. The hotel staff was quick to address any issues we had- just a great holiday.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Fabulous time once again.

We love the Casa Marina. It's relaxing for us and the weather is almost perfect most of the time. Renovations are great. Can't control waves or beach damage at times, but overall, we can't wait to go back next February for another 2 weeks. The staff is great too - especially the Entertainment gals and guys. Never a dull moment. You can't do better than this on a budget.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Second time at this resort

This is our second time at this resort and it was just as nice the second time.Very clean everywhere.Rooms are very large and nice balcony .We went with a group of 11 and everyone enjoyed themselves.The only complaint I heard was that the liquor was very watered down and usually did not get what you ordered,other than that we all really enjoyed ourselves .Will return.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Resort

Gran Ventana is very clean resort from rooms to grounds to beach. Staff are continually working on every area. Lots of hot water for showers. Clean towels and bottles of water replaced everyday.Staff is friendly and helpful. We did not go alacarte restaurants. The buffet was delicious at every meal. Lots of variety. Check in was quick. Upon arriving we were served a cold refreshing fruit juice. Our luggage arrived at our room quickly. We would definitly return .
