Melia Peninsula Varadero: No bed sheets!

This is not at all a 4 or 4.5 hotel this is a 1-2 stars. For starters the keys to the room was given to us with no details of anything (no map, no instructions on how to access wifi, nothing!). The room did not have any sheets I complain 3 times and every time they said “okay we are bringing them to you” the 4 nights pass and we never got them. Iberostar Selection Holguin: Great resort

Great for families, modern rooms, beautiful beach, amazing staff , over all a great week, food was to be expected for Cuba, wish there was more fruits and vegetables, alcohol was a hit or miss, would definitely return for the value

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Pretty good resort

The food was so so except the snack bar food. Activities on resort were ok Pool was nice The room was good The services were perfect We had a great time. Beautiful beach Good drinks and staff I'll give it a 4/5

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Everything perfect

For the price you pay,nothing to complain..workers are amazing, beach is spectacular..we go back next month..yoandry beach bar good food cooked by Gerly the chef who make miracle..good servi by jorge too..lobby bar worker are excellent. Can't name all of them ,customers service excellent..I can't complain..for the price it's unbelievable we get a clean room with AC..lol..real travelers will not complain at all..

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Wonderful Vacation

Travelled March 23-30. This resort is a nice size. Easily walk to the buffets and restaurants to beach to pool. We were in building closest to beach. The beach is gorgeous! One of the best. There was always lots of beach chairs and hen we were there. It was pretty windy all week so were not able to take out the kayaks or catamarans etc. but still lovely. The pool is nice however the only complaint there would be that they do not have many chairs around the pool. There is plenty of room to h [... read more]ave more chairs but we just put our stuff on the cement stairs and stayed in the water so not a huge deal. The food was actually better than expected. There’s always something to eat. There was egg every morning at the omelette station and lots of other choices. The coffee at the bar beside the buffet is much better than the coffee they give you in the buffet! The entertainment was ok. There was a show each night in or outside of the lobby. The rooms were the worst part. Our room was ground floor. There was mold and mildew in the closet and water dripping from the air conditioner. The beds were not the most comfortable but were fine. Water leaked all over the floor after every shower. Our maid was great though. We always had toilet paper and towels and water n the room. Our safe worked and the door locked. No issues with our key cards. All in all we had a great vacation. The staff were great! So friendly. And the price was great.

Sol Caribe Beach: Great stay at this modern style resort

Everything in this resort is as advertised. We stayed at the building number one on third floor. There are two elevators for those who don't like climbing the stairs. The room was spacious, modern and clean with two double beds which were very comfortable. The view from the room was fantastic. The bathroom was spacious and modern too. We don't have any complaints regarding bathroom towels, toilet paper and water bottles. Jade, the hard working maid was in charge of our room and she did a great  [... read more]job. We spent most of our time on the beautiful beach. We watched shows in the evening from our balcony. The entertainment ended up at 11p.m. and we had great night sleep. No complaints about food since the change suited us well. The only set back in the buffet restaurant, The Kitchen, is hygiene of dishes. Sometimes there was coffee or lipstik residue in/or on the edges of cups or glasses. Plates did not look clean to me, but that might be a due to the hardness of water. There is also a lack of beach towels which wasn't the issue for us. We used our own beach towels for two days, and we got their beach towels the third day in the morning. We were checking up couple of times per day until they finely got clean towels. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay at this beautiful resort.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Amazing beach and nice resort BUT

As the title says the beach is amazing and the resort is very nice but at dusk the mosquitos are awful!! The room and its service was very good. But I go south to enjoy seafood not chicken, beef and pork. The seafood selection was minimal. Breakfasts were good! They have no real "coke" so unless you want the coke they make at the resort ?? which tastes flat and awful - a rum and coke is out of the question. Even the rum and fruit drinks weren't good. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Stunning beach!

We had a great time at memories. Nice and relaxing. We knew of the shortages going to Cuba. But very surprised at how bad they were. We were in Cayo Cruz 3 weeks prior and this time it was worse. The staff were very friendly, minus a few at the front counter. But Jorge and Nayat in customers service made up for the bad behavior from front desk! You could not ask for a nicer beach. Absolutely stunning.

Barcelo Solymar: Horrible Resort!

Food was absolutely disgusting and should not be consumed! No bread, milk, eggs, potato’s, juice, water, soda, vodka etc. Dirty dishes. Horrible wait staff who stand around and do not take your drink order even when tipped. Mouse poop in our bungalow all over and in the fridge. Fridge, safe, and door to the room broken (we had to exchange our door key cards three times in the five days we were there). Some staff were nice, others not friendly at all. Floor of the pool is all coming apart with fr [... read more]agments coming off the floor of the pool. Potholes in all paths on the resort making it a bad trip hazard for all. The only two things we enjoyed on the resort was the Italian a la carte (wonderful, friendly staff, and an okay meal!), and the beach. If you’ve been to Cuba before (myself 11 times now) you always come for the beach and the people! The people are not friendly like they were prior to COVID and I feel horrible for the conditions they have to deal with.

Hotel Bella Costa: We had a good time! but...

Our family had a good time at this resort however a few things were surprising. Our first impression was walking into our room and being very disappointed in the cleanliness. I found dust and grime on the lamps that couldn't have been cleaned in months . The bedsheets and towels were stained . I'm sure they were washed but dingy and stained sheets leave a poor impression. Yes, some pop/juice/vodka was unavailable but it certainly gave me an opportunity to try something else. The bathrooms by the pool were dirty -I never saw anyone go in to clean them - must have been night fairies.... The food was always good at the buffet , a lot of carbs- pasta , rice, potato and bread. The Italian ala carte was excellent . The pool was great , my grandson loved the foam party on Sunday! too bad some fool ( an adult) had a blowup boat with oars in the middle of the kids having fun. Most days the music was at an acceptable level but one day it was beyond loud ! for 14 hours straight! When the entertainment staff tried to speak they yelled into the microphone in order to be heard and in fact blew a whistle into the microphone during an exercise session. Also on that same day the "DJ" played some rap crap with "f" bombs and other inappropriate words . I marched straight over and told them to stop that music -there were young families everywhere and the idiot thought those songs were acceptable?? When we had to leave , there was no trip book to refer to as far as when our bus would be picking us up from the hotel - it is something I would recommend and have seen done at other hotels. Also there is no place to shower after you've left your room but still have to wait for a later flight . It would be nice to have a designated room or bathroom to use . If going to this hotel - go prepared . bring your own pillow cases - I did and I'm glad. Bring raid for the rooms - I always do. Bring snacks .

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great resort to relax !

The pros definitely outweigh the cons of staying at this resort. My cousin and I went the week of April 1st and the purpose of the trip was to relax so this resort being a smaller resort was a great place to do just that. We were in an ocean view room in the Varadero building. Clean rooms a little dated but everything was fine with exception of the toilet not flushing properly. The staff were friendly and very attentive when we needed service. Like most people we don’t go to Cuba for the food  [... read more] but I was happy that they had bread and rolls at every meal, poached eggs boiled eggs and omelettes at breakfast. As well there was always some kind of fruit to eat. Pork, beef, chicken and fish were usually all available at the grill along with pasta station stir fry and fried rice station. No going hungry and for a week I don’t mind having the same choices everyday as I could just pick something different to eat. We talked to a lot of other people who loved the resort and kept coming back. We never had to reserve a chair at the beach and there were always some available no matter how late we ventured down. The only true negative for me was that the beach had seaweed about 10 feet into the water . You could walk down the beach in either direction and find a wide beach with no seaweed so wasn’t a deal breaker but I would have preferred a better beach. I could walk 25-30 minutes in either direction so it was a great beach to walk and lots of sea shells. Entertainment in the lobby every night and people liked to sit around and relax. There were night shows in the theatre as well as a disco however we were too tired to bother so not sure about these. I was happy with this resort.

Playa Vista Azul: Good place to stay

The staff is excellent. I recommend to stay in premium as the pool and coral restaurant are very close.the staff will call a buggy if you need to go anywhere far on the site. The lobby is within walking distance.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Great beach! Hotel nice but the rest no bueno!

We stayed March 22-29. Hotel rooms looked 5 star as rated, however without tipping and return to front desk for water and towels we would not have had any of the basic necessities . 3 people in our room but only two bath towels for days. Our shower never had warm or hot water nor did our shower head work or water drain. Long line ups always for food and lack of fresh veggies and fruit. You would have to arrive early for any fresh food. Not always milk for cereal and same basic hot dogs served [... read more] each day . We were aware of the supply crisis in Cuba and planned ahead. We are not high maintenance but days when bread ran out. I felt I spent half my vacation waiting in line. I had to wake up at 5:00 am to be able to have a chair and cover on the beach or pool. People would have places saved but not even be there all day. Our first day I woke up at 6:45 to place our towels as we would normally do especially since we’re there spring break but there were no chairs avail. The hotel staff met me know I had to be there as early as 5:00 am. There were pool tables to enjoy but only one broken cue stick for two tables so no one was able to play. We felt we would not get any help from staff unless we tipped first ; normally a tip is earned not expected. I only ever had water and since it unable to drink from the tap the bars and restaurant were the only place I could get some but I felt I should not have had to tip each time.

Villa Caprice: Truly the best beaches ever

I like this cozy resort. Only 4 rooms per block. Very clean and no issues at all. It's an Adult only resort so it makes your stay a but quieter. Staff is good and very polite It's not the hilton suites but it us Cuba and you can not go wrong at the Caprice.

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing Vacation!!! Thank you Melia Cayo Coco!

My husband and I have not been to Cuba since COVID struck so decided to go for two weeks and we were not disappointed! We thoroughly enjoyed this Resort. Considering the food shortages, etc. in Cuba we were fed really well and were grateful for that. The Staff go above and beyond to make sure we are very well looked after. They are a real asset to the Melia Family. The Resort was spotless as were our rooms. The rooms are a little tired, but clean. In our 14 days we only had two issue [... read more]s which was both with our room key/lock. A maintenance staff member arrived quite quickly on both issues and fixed us up! We spent every day on the beach which was absolutely breathtaking. Only had one morning of rain which didn't dampen our spirits one bit! The beach is clean with lots of garbage/ashtrays available. The smoking/non-smoking areas are a bonus. The entertainment... Wow! There was always something going on in the main lobby in the early evening and then at the Theatre. In the mornings you could hear the soft music of the Sax being played from the pool area. I found it very relaxing down on the beach. The "Rock" night band was our favorite. They had everyone up dancing and singing along. So much fun :-) I especially loved the size of the Resort. Easy to get around and easy to meet other guests. The Resort is very well lit at night and the gardeners truly do a beautiful job of keeping the grounds well kept and clean. We only had a few disappointments. One was the depth of the pool. Very shallow. However, I understand that this is one of their Capital Projects to redo the pool so not a biggy in our eyes. Besides, we are beach people. Another disappointment (which I have always had in Cuba), is other guests! 85% are great, but 15% can be so rude to the hardworking staff which really upsets me as they work so hard to please us. All in all, I would highly recommend this Resort and will be back! The Staff make this Resort so special and I would like to give a "shout out" to a few of them who made our vacation the best ever. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Amazing beach

The grounds were so well taken care of, it is beautiful. Lobby and restaurant are very nice. The rooms are a bit dated and could be cleaner. The floors were not cleaned ever day but overall acceptable as we only were there to wash and sleep.

Playa Costa Verde: Beautiful beach!

We really enjoyed our first trip to this resort and plan to return. The staff in buffet were friendly and provided great service. The food at the buffet was very good. We enjoyed the Italian restaurant. Lots of activities were provided by the entertainment team. The fact that so many guests return here many times tells you how good this resort is! Remember US$1 bills for tipping, don’t tip with coins. Thanks PCV for a great trip!

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Excellent resort

Just got home from The Royalton Was there for a week I am going to try and give my most honest review we arrived late Sunday night March 31st we were greeted by our Butler Omar he is an amazing Butler. A cart took us to our room. Eggs were provided for breakfast six out of the 7 days there was no shortage of any types of alcohol both pools were wonderful the ocean was quite stunning if you have mobility issues ensure that you take a pool floaty for yourself as the resort does not have any to offer when going to the ocean the walkway is very uneven it's definitely a tripping hazard we tipped with American money and gifts on a daily basis the one thing we found was requested by the wonderful Cuban people was medicine we plan to go back next year for a week

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Group of 6

After reading some of the reviews before flying out I was a little sceptical. I’m not sure why some of the reviews were posted. It was a spectacular resort. Lots of food to select at the buffet. The a la carts were delicious and each bar served different drinks. We never went out to save a chair. Each afternoon when we were ready to go to the beach, pool or both we were able to get chairs. The beds were comfy and someone was always running around to pick up or clean up after the guests and left  [... read more]their glasses or cigarette butts. They had a performance each evening. I enjoyed the vocalist and the violinist, amazing performances from each.
