When I look for a resort I look for small and quiet, I go away to RELAX! And that is exactly what I found at Memories Caribe. It was clean, we didn't have any issues with food. The only small issue was the comfort of the bed and the lack of water pressure, other then that it was awesome. We would definitely go back.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Good for teenagers
It was fine for people who are not concerned with service. The hotel was a little older but clean and simple....beds could be a little more comfortable.
Food was same everyday.
Beach was beautiful, Entertainment geared to ages 14-25 no really good dance shows for adults.
I was surprised at the staff, ive been to cuba 3 times and the staff seemed very overworked and unhappy. it was my sons and husbands first time in cuba and they did not see the local people as pleasant, helpful or happy[... read more].
The hotel was more of a party hotel and be prepared to walk because trollies were non existent.
It was okay because cuba is beautiful but wouldn't go back to this resort.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Terrible experience
I left this resort after only 2 of my 7 day intended stay. I admit some of it may have been my fault for having higher expectations of a 3.5 star resort in Cuba but I was not prepared for the matress on the floor for a bed and the mold spots on my sheets. I was also disgusted by the cleanliness of the washroom facilities in the common areas and the in-room washrooms had their own set of issues - loudly running toilets that wouldn't stop, showers with no water pressure, bugs, etc. Food at the buf[... read more]fet seemed okay but never stayed hot and I'm fairly certain I ate rocks in my rice but the lunch place and the "24 hour" snack bar only offered disgusting hamburgers and hotdogs that I couldn't stomach. I also didn't find the staff very friendly or very fluent in English at all. The lawns and trees/shrubs seemed well kept but every fountain on the resort was broken and lots of things were in disrepair EXCEPT the pools - they looked fantastic. Very disappointed in the availability of water. We only got one large bottle in our room upon arrival and we didn't get a new one the second day (I think because my first one wasn't completely empty). You can't even get water from the front desk - they have to pass your request on to a maid to leave it in your room, and the likelihood of that communication system working seemed unlikely to me based on the rest of my experiences with staff. Definitely won't be returning to any Memories resorts as, since I've returned, I've heard they have a bad rep in many places. Also not impressed with Sunwing due to delays and being no help in trying to get home. Will thank my tripcentral travel agent though for trying her best to get us home when I was DONE with this resort.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Good Resort
We really enjoyed our stay at this resort. I have been to Cuba 3 other times and this was the best one. The food was good - always fresh fish for dinner, beach was beautiful and staff throughout the resort were friendly and helpful. The entertainment in the evenings was always good and the beach activities were fun too.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Wonderful family time
We had such a great time. Staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely a kid & family friendly resort. The room and resort was not fancy and could use some updating but it's clean and comfortable. Food was plentiful and great for kids; adults might find the food a little basic; not for foodies. The beaches were incredible! The water is a deep turquoise and the sand goes on forever. We went in mid-March (2017) and the temperatures ranged from 25 - 30 Celsius. The Catamaran outing to the co[... read more]rral reef was well worth the money. Cayo Coco is an unbelievably beautiful place.

Grand Memories Varadero: Good resort
Grand Memories was nice, the staff (waiters, servers, maids, cleaners) tried very hard to make your stay an enjoyable one.
Lots of assortment of food, different varieties and the a la cartes were very nice. I'd highlight the seafood and the Asian (Ging Seng), their beef tenderloin was superb!!
Also, great beach, nice and relaxing but need to be up early before 7 to get a chair.
Recommend if you're looking at trips the katermaran boat cruise- the boats are big so not likely to get sea sick, bu[... read more]t a must is a trip to Havana. What an amazing City! And, recommend you go in style. we hired a car and driver, cheaper than the bus and the tour is tailored to what you want, we hire Elio Ramos, grandfather drove and grandson showed us the City. The woman at the a La carte booking can provide you the details.
Downfalls, the washrooms, others said it but needed to see it. The washrooms in the restaurants and your rooms are great but not near the pools. Bring purell, wipes and toilet paper :(
Also, checkout at airports. Not the problem of the resort but if you're flying Air Canada note that they had 1 check out where other providers had two or three, long wait to leave.
overall, good price for a quick get away but realize that it's not a 5 star.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Worst vacation I ever had
For the first time I try Cuba. Wanted to compare with other trips I took elsewhere. It was to say the least the worst vacation and dirtiest place I've ever been to. I could not put it in words the smell of the bathrooms especially the pool and the beach bathrooms. The beach bathroom has a septic tank right beside it that has been overflowing for a very long time because the ditch beside it was Full of sewer water. At the pool where you wash your feet Sewer Water was coming out of the drain. Sa[... read more]nd flees all over the resort and I got stung so bad I had to go to the doctors when I got back home. I really don't have anything good tho say about this run down resort except the food was not to bad considering this is Cuba. The beach is nice but has nothing to do with the resort. Actually the resort make the beach less appealing with that sewer smell. I could keep on going with this but I won't. Don't waist your money there and I will never go back to a memories or Cuba.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Beautiful Beach!
Resort overall needs some maintenance and upkeep. Just little things are showing age and wear and tear.
Food was good for Cuba. Good variety. Coffee in buffet was terrible but better at the lobby bar.
Entertainment team was energetic and fun. Good shows at night.
Beach is beautiful, clean and still has a bit of the 'raw' feeling as the strip is not peppered with resorts and tourism.
We had no hot water for 2 days in our building, but the resort reimbursed us with a free late checkout[... read more].
Service is good, although you do feel the need to have your wallet handy sometimes. Housekeeping is sporadic. They do everything if you leave a tip, but if you don't that day, they might not leave you towels or clean your toilet etc.
Would we go back? Probably not. We had a great time there, but it wasn't spectacular.

Memories Paraiso: It's always what you make of it
Had a wonderful time soaking up the sun and playing in the ocean. As always I met wonderful people and made friends. The resort is struggling a bit to organize and find its footing it seems given the recent change of hands. The buffet needs more cleanliness and organization, my room had cockroaches but the imperfections are minor if you look at the big picture. STAYED IN 3850.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great resort and amazing vacation!
Memories Caribe is one of the cleanest resorts I've stayed. The grounds are impeccably taken care of, the rooms are newly renovated - at least the one where we stayed - and kept in perfect condition. The beds are very comfortable, and the interior is quite pleasant. The staff work really very hard to make the stay truly memorable. I was a repeated guest, so it was very pleasant to be acknowledged and greeted everywhere I went. The beach is the best in Cuba. We went for long walks miles and miles[... read more] along the shore and were mesmerized by the beauty of nature, tides, variety of wildlife and abundance of very private nooks and spaces. The resort as well as the whole island of Cayo Coco is a very safe place, so there's nothing to worry about when you off for a long and relaxing stroll outside of the resort. The food is simple but fine: I found lots of healthy choices, as well as not very healthy yet delicious that we all treat ourselves with while at home in Canada, e.g. pizza, fries, hotdogs, etc. There are a few a la carte restaurants and bars, a buffet restaurant, a snack bar open 24/7, a beach bar, a swim-up bar at the pool and an ice cream parlour. The resort itself is neither too big nor too small, which makes it walkable yet not boring. The resort has a bank where you can exchange money. After hours, you can get Cuban pesos at the front desk as well. There's also a little store on the resort, so if you forgot something at home, you can always buy it there.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Lovely Visit to Memories Flamenco
I travelled with my 76-year old mother, my sister and my daughter and we had a lovely time. The resort is very nicely laid out around the pool with nothing really far (except buildings 5,7,8, and 10). We were in building 9 and everything worked (AC, fridge, patio door, etc). As everywhere in Cuba, the beds are rather hard but that was expected.
The food was also as expected in Cuba. There was always something we could find to eat and there was ice cream for dessert! We didn't try the a l[... read more]a carte restaurants but the snack bar had good pizzas and because we were Diamond Club we went for breakfast at the La Florencia restaurant each morning and we had great breakfasts (omelets - no standing in line; pancakes, toast, fruit plates, etc).
Diamond Club also had its own spot on the beach which was behind building 1 and 2 (it moved recently) and there were always beach chairs and usually palapas. The beach is lovely but if you have tender feet, there are broken shells in the sand that you may want to be aware of but we didn't really have a problem.
Sadly, the weather was windy and cold for the first 3 days but after that it was lovely. One think you can't control is the weather. There's a cute little market 5 minute walk down the road - the same place where the disco is located that a bus goes to each night at 11:00 pm.
Very nice pools - three of them - one being a kiddie pool but it's not used much by the kids as they're usually with the parents at the big pools. The foam party in the pool bar pool was fun - to watch! Kudos to the entertainment team who had lots of activities going all day, every day.
What I liked the best was the evening entertainment which was fabulous. What a talented group of young dancers who obviously spend a lot of time practicing and putting together the shows for each evening - particularly the Cuban night, Broadway night, and the Michael Jackson night. Often the same people were there in the morning leading activities, and were there in the evening as well. The shows are well worth attending!!
Above all, the people of course were very, very kind. We met so many people and were treated with kindness and respect. I have to say it was a bit sad to see how we, as tourists, sometimes didn't take care and respect the place where we were staying. There was often garbage left laying around right next to a garbage can. It was sad to see as visitors to this beautiful country. Kudos to the grounds staff who worked tirelessly every day, cleaning up and repairing and keeping the gardens beautiful.
It was one of the nicest resorts I've been to in Cuba, overall, and would go back again.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great Resort
Hotel was great and grounds were as well. Great variety of food at buffet. The people were outstanding, always in good spirit and friendly. My only thing was my room being cleaned, although my fault when after a couple days I found this tab you insert in key lock on outside. When I did put out thet only clean bathroom once. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Very nice for 3 days
Beautiful resort! Gorgeous beach! Good drinks and evening entertainment. Staff were friendly for the most part, although difficult to understand (speaking fast with a thick accent). The food got a little boring, but it was fine for 3 days. It was a bit annoying to have to run around the whole resort making reservations for things - you couldn't just do everything at the front desk. There was a separate place to make dinner reservations, spa reservations, water sports reservations. A lot of [... read more]things closed early - like 5pm. Even the gym. The gift shop and snack bar were open late though. The mosquitoes were vicious at night - bring deet! The grounds staff came around spraying some kind of pesticide in the bushes at dinnertime, which kind or ruined my dinner. We had some problems with our room - they didn't realize that there were 3 people staying in our room, so we had to ask for extra water, toilet paper, an extra bath towel, and a cot. The room also didn't have a bathroom door or shower curtain, which made showering and going to the toilet quite awkward. The resort doesn't seem very high-tech; lots of daily business was conducted with paper and pen. No big deal though.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Fantastic vacation!
We just arrived home from 7 wonderful days at Memories Holguin. We were a group of 4 adults and none of us have 1 bad thing to say about this resort. The food was great, lots to choose from, the staff was amazing and the day & night entertainment was 5 star! We stayed in room 772 & 773, they were newly renovated and were very nice. The 700 block was a bit of a hike from the lobby, but the grounds are lovely to stroll through. Sol Turquesa Beach: Don't waste your money
The beach is so,so,.the food is cold ,resort is too big with too many steps for families, elderly tourists. Ran out of pizzas ,and fries , which was good for the younger group. Also no wake calls , especially pissed off after we requested this service twice.our friend even missed her paid excursion when she had no call , then having a hassle with refund.... Sorry but will never return there . Resorts in Cayo coco, and the resorts in Veradoro are 100% better.

Memories Paraiso: Amazing Resort
We just got back from Memories Paraiso Azul Beach Resort on March 23rd. We've vacationed in Cuba 8 times now and this resort was by far the greatest. The rooms were nice and clean each day,the grounds were nice and tidy. The pools and beach were beautiful also. Each day our fridge was restocked with Beer, Pop and Water. The food was the best we've ever eaten in Cuba and we had no problem finding something that we all liked to eat. There were all kinds of bars at this resort. Certain times of the[... read more] day they had portable bars set up on the sidewalks. One evening our light in the washroom kept flickering on and off so I went to report it to the front desk on our way to dinner and when we returned an hour later a maintenace man was fixing it. We always bring lots of trinkets to give out to the maids and waitresses and this also helps with service. When you go for a meal they don't forget you and they treat you like royalty. I would definatly recommend this resort.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Wonderful vacation
The grounds were gorgeous. There were flowering bushes and trees everywhere. Everything was very clean. Food was good, though we went for buffet opening times to avoid long lines for fresh made foods like omelette, french toast with fried banana, and fresh pasta pan with our choice of garlic oil and vegetables. Everyone was pleasant The coffee in the lobby was fabulous, especially the cappuccinos. The dance shows were fabulous. No sand fleas and only saw one mosquito the whole week, after a lo[... read more]ng rain. Pools were clean with ocean view. Buffet eating space had ocean views. We enjoyed walking, but this is not the easiest hotel to navigate in a wheelchair due to stairs and steps. There are go carts that can take people on paths around the resort.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Would not go back
This was my seventh hotel in Cuba, and the first I would not go back to, nor would I recommend to my friends or family. Why? My husband, my 6 year-old son, and I had a great time--the climate, natural beauty, and friendly Cubans were amazing as usual! But no thanks to this (Canadian) run resort. Three reasons, two of which could be fixed if the (Canadian administers) cared to: 1. the shuttles speeding around the resort at high speed pose a significant danger to young children; 2. the food was [... read more]very poor quality, a lot of it artificial (eg. instant coffee and instant juice from powder in Cuba?! WHY?), and 3. the beach, while the sand was nice, was located on massive clay seaweed beds, so there was seaweed everywhere--in deeper water,on the beach and in the shallow water. In a nutshell: why come here when hotels just minutes down the coast (like the Sol Rio de Luna, Brisas Guadalavaca, Club Amigo) have amazing beaches and crystal clear water, boast no shuttles, and couldn't possibly have worse food?
To elaborate: 1. our room was very nicely finished, spacious & pools were beautiful--in particular, there's a very large shallow pool that would be perfect for toddlers. The grounds around the pools were breath-taking, a work of art. But why have a child friendly resort when its pathways are dominated by electric shuttles buzzing around at high speeds (35-50 kms/hr)? Worse, they don't slow down for pedestrians, even when they're kids. In school zones there are parking bumps for a reason. But here, the drivers expect you to jump out of the way onto the grass when they come blasting along. We didn't hear one of them (they're electric) and my son who had lagged behind, made the mistake of running straight ahead instead of jumping on to the grass and came way too close (for my comfort!) to being run down. The drivers should be given lessons in road safety, especially driving around children, or instructed to drive more slowly and ALWAYS yield to pedestrians..
2. The food was very poor, and I'm someone who has always liked Cuban food and found the food in Cuba resorts pretty good--lots of fresh, local fruit, vegetables, breads, black beans and rice. But this place was BAD--except for the great french fries, just dreadful version of the worst North American food. Instant coffee (in Cuba!) served at the buffet, undrinkable tea tasting and smelling of chlorine, artificial "juice" from powder, starchy peas and green beans (frozen?), artificial milkshakes, piles of stale bread, cold boiled potatoes every morning for breakfast. Almost no meat out and what there was was lukewarm--never realized that mounds of cold bacon and lumps of fatty, skin-covered chicken with huge dollops of congealed fat could look so disgusting. There were three grills and one station with two frying pans cooking meat, but in a hotel of 500+ that just isn't a viable option--there were always long lineups.
All in all this resort was a significant disappointment, given the reviews, and the Canadian management should get its act together re the speeding shuttles and the ghastly food..
