Royalton Blue Waters: Great Vacation!

My husband and I spent 7 days at this beautiful resort. Positives: grounds are beautiful Staff are wonderful. Honerable mentions include: Jeremy ( concierge), Front desk staff, hospitality staff, Asheika from the coffee shop. She makes the best lattes! Room was nice, we had a view of the main family pool area. Food:. Can't complain. There is something for everyone. Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Had a really good time

Rooms were nice, cleaning staff very friendly, food very good. Entertainment good, especially the pool and beach crew. Angel and Chocolate had us laughing the whole week, and the bar staff kept our cups full. Overall a really nice experience.

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Good resort.

Overall the resort was good. Clean and staff was very courteous. Rooms were ok. First time I see life guards on duty, that was nice to see. Entertainment was very good. Very energetic and fun. Food was fantastic. We were there with a wedding party. Lot's of fun. Only real issue was the fact that we had a couple of people had allergies (silliac) to certain foods and for the first couple of days it seemed like it was a bother to the staff. Staff were amazing - very polite and helpful. Food was excellent - lots of variety (except for my roomate - she is gluten free) this resort and other would need to have a gluten free section Rooms were cleaned and if we needed anything like extra blanket/water - it was provided in a timely manner Close to the airport. - nice feature as well

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Mediocre resort

Iberostar Rose Hall Beach Resort - Although I advised them ahead of time of my serious gluten allergy it was really hit and miss. Most of the time the servers had no idea what gluten was. Some chefs were great and accommodated and others weren't interested. Are patio had a nice view but it was a solid stucco wall versus posts/railings which means there was no air circulation and we couldn't sit on it. When we asked to be moved to a room with a patio with posts they advised it was an upgrade  [... read more]and it would cost $40 per night yet others in our party got a room with a patio with posts and there was no extra charge. Rooms were very cold and we couldn't adjust the temperature.

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Amazing Time

Everything about the trip was amazing , the food, the beach, the people, the staff. only issues was the rooms kept shutting off and heating up on us and then at 2 in the am the power would kick on and tv would start up and some of the lights too.

Couples Swept Away: Beautiful and relaxing

Amazing stay. Beautiful rooms with large verandahs with hammock and generous seating area overlooking the beautiful and tropical grounds of the hotel (or beach if you get a beach front room). Beach was stunning and long. Sand was soft and comfortable to endlessly walk on. Water was warm and felt like a massage to the soul. Shade easy to be found under the numerous chaises on the beach - many under palm trees. Food was very good - especially the jerk chicken and grilled fish offered througho [... read more]ut the day at the restaurants. Staff are very friendly and there is always an interesting conversation to be had. Anything you want is available easily - towels, fresh juices, drinks, ice cream, snacks and of course the beach! Great water sports available for free on site - including snorkelling, kayaking, sailing. Pools and many jacuzzi's on site. Easy to have time on your own or mingle if you want with other guests. Couldn't have asked for a more relaxing holiday.

Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton: Fantastic Vacation

Pros- The grounds are clean, staff is friendly, food was great and there were many restaurants to choose from. Loved the small beaches and lush vegetation surrounding the grounds. Our room was large and modern. Cons- The check-in took awhile. The grounds are large, but I enjoyed walking.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Family vacation

We just returned back from a family vacation to Jamaica and we stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe. We had an awesome time and the resort was wonderful, the service was excellent and it was very clean. We had great food but at dinner the variety could be better at the buffet. We enjoyed lunch the most. The swimming pool was always kept clean but they could keep it opened after 6pm. Our room was cleaned daily and new towels were provided for all of us. Grand Pineapple Beach: My favorite place on earth.

I've stayed at this resort going on 800 nights,so I know exactly what the resort is all about.From the time that you check in you realize that you're in a special place.It's not fancy but it's the staff that make it a wonderful experience. Couples Swept Away: Amazing honeymoon

We arrived at Couples Swept Away a little later in the day. We found we didn't receive the warmest welcome from the front desk or the reservation lady (it was 7:55 and she told us she was closed so come back in the morning) but we don't worry about stuff like that. We went to our room on the second floor. The air conditioning was really loud and the TV didn't work and the tree frogs really loud as we were in front of a pond. The next morning we requested a new room and they accommodated us. Our  [... read more]new room 3111 was awesome. The rooms here are not marble but are very rustic. You have to love that sort of thing. We were on the ground floor in an ocean veranda room. We loved that we could walk right out and we could see the ocean. The food here was wonderful as were the restaurants. We took advantage of the fitness centre across the street as well as the catamaran ride and glass bottom boat and snorkeling. All were amazing as the guides worked so had to ensure everyone was safe. He even jumped in the water with us and gave us food to feed the fish. We were pretty much the only Canadians and we met some wonderful American couples that had been at this resort numerous times and showed us the ropes. The beach here is unbelievable. We loved the floaties for the water. Had a great time. We would definitely return.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Wonderful views!

The grounds are immaculately well kept and the pool has a spot for everyone! With plenty of food and yummy restaurants to devour you you will always find a good fit for your dining experience! Lots of lonely people to meet and smiles all around! The excursions were put the icing on the entire trip! We had a ball!

Hedonism II: Fun for everyone

Clean, kind, fun, no pressure, great shows, food is better than most other resorts I have stayed at. Liberating, crazy at times, great staff. Great views, going back again for the 3rd time .... 200 characters required to post ... okay that sucks lol ... try it before you judge it

This hotel was simply amazing! Clean up to date and most importantly the food was great and the staff, especially Ms. I. Riu Montego Bay: Amazing trip

The hotel was great. Everything was close by so you didn't have to walk far. The buffet was great. Lots of options. The dining staff were great especially Superman and the entertainment staff were very talented and great with kids. Styles was fantastic with my kids. The front desk was also very friendly and accommodating. We had a wonderful trip.

Sunscape Splash: Staff are amazing

Enjoyed our stay here !! We have stayed at this hotel in the past and loved it!! My daughter loves the entertainment team and always seem to make many friends in the pool and at all the various activities they offer!! The staff is so friendly and always make you feel welcome and special like a part of the family!!

Couples Sans Souci: Mostly enjoyable

We stayed at CSS for a week (June 29- July 6, 2018). We’ve been to Jamaica many times but this was our first visit to Sans Souci. For the most part we had a very enjoyable time and will likely return in the future. The property is beautiful and very charming. There are definitely a lot of steps but they do offer shuttle service on the resort if you need a lift. A&B blocks are down near the restaurants, beach, and pool so they may be better options for those with mobility issues. We stay [... read more]ed in G block which offered amazing views. We hear the rooms in F&G blocks are slated for remodeling soon so that will only enhance a future stay. We found the mattress hard and requested a topper through guest services and that made a big difference in comfort and rest. The main beach is fairly small compared to other properties we’ve visited. The swimming area has a lot of beach grass in it and the water was murky a couple of days. We were wondering why they don’t make a dock or wharf for the numerous boats so they could extend the swimming area. We didn’t go to the nude beach so can’t comment on that side at all. The mineral pool by the spa is nice. We went swimming a couple evenings after dinner as well as a couple afternoons. It’s very tranquil and relaxing and felt good on the skin. One afternoon around 3pm I decided to try the Mediterranean platter from Charlie’s bar so we asked what time the menu was available until. We were told 5pm so around 330/345pm we went up to order and were told they were out of pita bread. I said no problem and asked if I could have some of their homemade chips instead of the pita. Well - the only things I received were a couple triangles of rice stuffed grape leaves and the chips. I can’t remember what exactly the menu says now but I thought it was supposed to have hummus, olives, and feta cheese as well? Didn’t see any of that. I had heard the hummus was quite good so I was looking forward to trying it. My partner ordered the duo of dips with chips and got some chips and one dip. This was the one and only time we encountered poor service on the CSS property throughout the entire week. We truly felt like we were bothering this employee by ordering from Charlie’s bar so we decided on future visits we would swim in the pool but we wouldn’t try anything else so we wouldn’t upset him. The food was good in all restaurants. The breakfast buffet was fresh and delicious and offered substantial variety each day. Highlights were the lamb and the beef from Casanova, shrimp pizza from the beach grill at lunch, fisherman’s stew from Palazzina at dinner, and every soup we had at every restaurant was delicious. We booked a private dinner in the gazebo one evening and it was lovely. Omar was our server and he was terrific. We chose the Lovers Delight menu and although they didn’t have lobster (it was substituted with shrimp) it was very tasty. The sauce on the beef tenderloin was delicious and the meat was cooked perfectly. We were looking forward to Jamaican night (on Tuesdays) but because of July 4th they didn’t have it while we were there so that was disappointing. We were also a bit saddened to see they don’t seem to acknowledge Canada Day at all here. This was a bit disheartening considering we have always been so welcomed and celebrated as Canadians at other resorts throughout the country when we visited when it wasn’t even Canada Day. Perhaps Couples Resorts should add in a little Canadian celebration on July 1st each year? We mentioned this to Guest Relations for future Canada Day guests and Miss Neysha Stampp personally brought up some rum, champagne, cards, and balloons to our room which we thought was very kind of her. Thank you Neysha! We ordered room service for breakfast a few times and for dinner one evening. 50% of the time the correct order was delivered within 30mins and at appropriate temperature, the other 50% we waited over an hour and only had our food delivered once we called to check on it. On these occasions items were either forgotten or cold when they should have been hot. So the room service was hit or miss for us. My partner loved the club sandwich from room service. I thought it was just ok. They put egg on their club sandwiches which just isn’t my thing. I had a massage and body treatment with Ruth at the spa and it was fantastic. She is a skilled therapist as well as a very friendly and kind person. Other staff members who made a positive impact on our vacation were Neysha from Guest Services, Hubert at the breakfast buffet, Serita at Palazzina for dinner, O’Neil at Bella Vista for dinner, and Christopher and Joel from the water sports team. We did a sunset cruise with them the last evening of our trip and it was absolutely amazing. Overall we had a pleasant stay at CSS and will consider a future stay there. Creating a larger swimming area at the main beach, adding new (softer) mattresses in the rooms, and an additional evening restaurant that doesn’t require reservations would speed up our return.

Riu Reggae: Quite disappointed with my stay!

The resort itself is beautiful enjoyed the pool bar, the ENT crew members and my favourite guy Desmond a waiter for dinner at the Ackee. The part that really ruined it for me is the fact that I left the resort one day to bury my great grandmother and came back to my room to realize that I was unable to get back into my safe. When a front desk employee came up to reset it and get it opened I realized that some money that I had in there was missing! while I was gone I had put the Do Not Disturb si [... read more]gn on my door but despite that being there the cleaning lady and the guy to restock my fridge had entered into the room. That was discovered after the manager did a door reading. The disturbing thing was our room was not even cleaned it was actually very messy as if someone was scrimmaging through it. To make matters worst the security that came to do an investigation told me that I had to walk over to the police station myself if I wanted to file a report. After emailing the head office of Riu resorts, Sunwing and Trip central all I got was an apology. My advice to everyone who visits there is to not put anything in the safe and to keep all your money and valuables with you or secure and locked in your suitcase. Besides that horrible experience my friends and I made the best of the rest of the trip and had a blast. Yes I do recommend the resort but I also recommend that you be on your P's and Q's when leaving he resort for the day because at the end of the day your word means nothing to them because they all look out for each other.

Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: Beautiful resort & Beach, weak service, below average food

Overall: Royalton Negril is a beautiful place. Walking around, you can truly feel that you are in a luxury resort. Great interior design, quality furniture and décor. The resort is also not very large so its pretty easy to get around. There aren't too many bars open during the day so you would sometimes have to walk a bit to get a drink. There is 1 swimming pool, and 1 splash pad (which is really great for kids), a kids club and a separate teen club. There is also a gym and a spa but I haven [... read more]'t used these services. Where the resort is lacking, is consistent quality service. The hotel staff is always polite and some really care about your vacation experience. At the same time, I was often faced with blunt indifference which considerably ruined our stay. I arrived with my elderly mother and 2 little children (3 and 1 year old). After a very long and difficult road, I was told that our room was supposed to be in front of the evening show area which, of course, is not the ideal when traveling with small children that go to bed early. So I decided to upgrade our room to a more quiet area and a swim up suite. I confirmed with the girl at the reception that we needed a room with 2 beds - no problem! except when we arrived to the room there was only 1 bed and a pull out couch (but I'll get to this in a minute). While still at the reception, I asked for a quick explanation and introduction of the resort, available amenities, restaurants, kids options etc. I was told that the bell boy will explain everything in the room. When we did get to the room, the bell boy said that the information is on their smart TV, which consisted of scanned brochures with lots of small print. It seems that what is a basic service in the most simple hotels, is not available here. you are sent to read brochures on the TV. While its not a big deal, it was the first sign of the kind of service that we will be getting. The room- The room was a beautiful unit with a swim up pool and ocean view. But it only had 1 bed. I completely understand when I book the trip, the hotel may not be able to accommodate everyone's room requests. But when on premises, paying for an upgrade, I would imagine that the reception staff should know that the room they are sending you to, has only 1 bed. My mom slept on the pull out, the kids on the King size bed and I slept perpendicular to them at their feet, with my feet hanging off the bed. Definitely not the luxury experience that I was expecting. I was told that they will have another room available for me the next day. The room change can only happen between 2:30-3 PM which is right in the middle of my kids naps, so they didn't nap or eat as we packed to move rooms. When I arrived at the reception, I was told that they were putting me back in the activity area which wouldn't have worked for us. Afterall, I upgraded the room to get a quieter place. so one more terrible night at the same room. Next day, the kids again, didn't nap or eat lunch while I dealt with the rooms. While trying to make arrangements, I was bounced from one person to the next at least 4 times. each time I had to explain the situation to a new person, and there was a general feeling that I was inconveniencing them. with the kids crying in the room, the lack of care from the staff, I hate to admit that I broke down crying at the reception. To which I was told - not to cry as I got the room I wanted. The lack of empathy was staggering. The new room was great, it had 2 beds, a jet-tub, and had a swim up pool. Most importantly, it was in a quiet are of the hotel (building#2) and had a beautiful ocean view. At that point, we were on our third day and I was so frustrated with the room experience, several issues at the buffet service and room service. It really felt that we had challenges Every step of the way. I started looking into trip interruption and returning home before the end of our scheduled trip. My husband, ended up convincing me to stay, as the room situation has been resolved and maybe things will start looking up. l learned to expect that everything takes a while. Room service often took over an hr after I put in the order so I started having scheduled deliveries. I got to know the better servers at the buffet so I chose where we sat accordingly. And while we still had some ups and downs, our experience improved. Room Service: Has great breakfast options but not so much for lunch, dinner or midnight snack. we ordered some food the night we arrived, the burger bread came wet, the fries were chewy and the ham and cheese sandwich was cold and dry. So I never ordered dinner from room service anymore. If we needed, one of us went to the buffet and got some food for the other person. after the first few nights, I started ordering nightly scheduled milk for the babies and breakfast for them. the service was always on time which was great. The only down side was that while I always asked for them not to call the room in the middle of the night before they make a delivery and for the delivery person to knock quietly. It was often followed but not always and woke up the kids several times. Food: Food was fresh, and was overall fine. Not much variety though, I'd say comparable to Cuba. Bar service: The bartenders were always nice and friendly. Housekeeping: Did an overall good job. Sometimes will leave us with 2 towels instead of 4, but they would bring more if asked. It would often take a few hours, but we got our towels eventually. The great thing about our room location that it was very close to the beach towel station so we took towels from there if we needed extra. One day my son peed the bed and I called to ask for the bed to be changed. after a while of no one coming, I called the operator again at around 5 pm and asked that they change the bed by 6:30 PM as the kids go to bed after. luckily, we ended up staying for a bit of the show as it was playing earlier that day, and we got to the room by 8- 8:30 PM. The staff was just in the middle of changing the bed. When we expressed our surprised that it wasn't done, the response was - "well, im here now". This is the kind of approach we saw often. no empathy, no care, more like - here's your solution, what else do you want. Robbery: I accidentally left my kids bagpack in the coffee shop by the reception for about 15 minutes, when I came back the bagpack was there, but the money was gone - about 7 dollars in tip money. Not a big financial loss, and at this point we just laughed at it because of everything else that's been going on. On a different occasion I also had my phone in an open pocket in the stroller, when I noticed someone standing by the stroller - strangely, right in the middle of the pathway- looking in the direction of the phone. they left after I picked up the phone from the stroller. so keep an eye mon your things. There were many more smaller "mishaps", which wouldn't make a dent if there weren't so many of them. The Good: Not everything was bad. The food station by the pool was really great - Good service and tasty jerk chicken. the food at the buffet was pretty tasty although it was the same thing daily with not much veriety. The babysitters at the kids club were amazing. I left my kids with a babysitter for an hour and they had so much fun. The phone operators were always polite, caring even went an extra mile to help us get diapers from the city. there were 2 operators for the room service and one of them was always super friendly, remembered my orders and requests not to call the room in the middle of the night. There was a lot of security staff at the resort (day and night) which made us feel safe regardless of the $7 robbery. everyone always smiled as they passed you in the resort. The swimming pools were beautiful and always clean. people seemed to be engaged with the activities, and looked like they were having fun. I didn't take part as we were mostly at the beach. The beach: Had some seaweed, but overall, warm clean water. The sand was soft, white and amazingly warm. In summary, I have been to many different Caribbean resorts of all levels - from 3 star Cuban resort, to an extra luxury 5 star mexico resort. The service here was by far the worst. I still feel stressed thinking about our vacation. It will probably be a few years before I go to Jamaica again but definitely not returning to Royalton.The trip was not worth it for me.

Jewel Paradise Cove: Mostly good with some bad

My wife and I went to the Jewel Paradise Cove for our honeymoon this past week. The resort is about an hour from the airport (a bit longer as we had to drop off others at nearby resorts). As per Tripcentral/Sunwing, we were expecting to be welcomed with a plate of fruits and sparkling wine in our room, both of which were absent. When we went to the front desk, they said they were never notified that we were on our honeymoon (the tripcentral employee said they would mention it - but I think they  [... read more]forgot...). We got a small chocolate cake in our room and were invited to the honeymooners event, but we never ended up getting the sparkling wine or fruits, nor the promised photoshoot, which was unfortunate. Beach: It was okay. They have an artificial beach nestled in a cove. The beach isn't so bad, but the water is extremely calm and you can't swim out very far. Pools: The pools were nice, and the pool bars were also nice. Room: We had a poolside room in Emerald Lagoon 2. The room was nice although the wifi in that location was practically non-existent. Another thing that was annoying was that staff would come to the room several times during the afternoon. It seemed there were separate staff for cleaning, changing towels and stocking the mini-fridge and possibly more. I don't know why they don't just have 1 or 2 staff for this instead of 3+. Staff: The staff were mostly courteous, although the attention to detail and full service is lacking compared to some higher end resorts. Activities/Events: We appreciated the free tours to Konoko Falls (very cool!) and to Ocho Rios (tourist trap). There were plenty of daytime activities, although not much after 3pm. The evening events I attended were not too interesting though. Food/drinks: The food was mostly good. Moonstone was excellent (make sure to try the lamb!). Platinum was pretty good. The Coral Cafe buffet was hit or miss. Court Jesters was very good the first time we went, but we had an awful experience the 2nd time as we had to wait 30min after ordering, and then they forgot our appetizer and served us dry and burnt pizzas. The aquamarina beach bar & grill was okay. The Golden Sabre sushi restaurant and Jade Samurai teppanyaki restaurant were both very good. Make sure to make a reservation for the Jade Samurai as soon as you arrive, since it can be booked several days in advance. The drinks were very good as well and they were usually very generous with the amount of alcohol. I have a few criticisms though: 1) Each restaurant only had a limited amount of menu options; 2) There are limited options for breakfast and lunch (Buffet or Platinum for breakfast; Buffet, Pizza, or bar & grill for lunch), meaning the food can get boring quickly. The male waiters who we had were excellent and courteous. I cannot say the same for many of the waitresses, who mostly seemed to not care much about giving good service.
