Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Not as expected

My husband and I stayed at Ocean Casa del Mar in Cayo Santa Maria Cuba for a week Sept. 4/18. While the weather was fantastic and the staff very friendly & helpful the food was less desirable. The main buffet (only one) open did not have an abundance of fresh fruit. There were no fresh bananas only fried. My husband likes to have one a day as he takes medication for hypertension as recommended by his physician. The hotel photos of the food in the reserved dinning are a little deceptive. What y [... read more]ou see in the photos is not what you get for dinner.The food in the buffet is the same almost every day. What is offered for lunch is re-offered dinner more or less. Our room was cleaned & mini fridge restocked daily. The service provided by housekeeping was very good. It was easy to obtain a chair at the beach/pool daily only because I believe half the resort was closed due to it being low season. If we had stayed here during peak season, I'm sure there would be a struggle for a chair. We have stayed at many resorts in Cuba but won't be returning to Ocean Casa del Mar.

Valentin Perla Blanca: everything was excellent

room was oceanview and very nicely appointed,,we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and air conditioning worked perfect and was much appreciated in the hot weather. the grounds were extremely well kept and the beach was lovely to walk and swim. we enjoyed the catamaran rides. food was good by Cuban standards and we never went away unsatisfied. we were able to arrange a nice tour to remedios and the surrounding towns. the staff all treated us like long time friends. yes, we would return but later [... read more] in the season when not so hot outside.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Beautiful Resort

i think this resort is good for people who loved alcohol the bar is open 24hours.It is good to relax and get away from work and stress. The people and staff are very helpful and humble. Nice breeze of air from the ocean.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Royalton

Hotel was fabulous. The grounds were nicely kept. Service was very good. The one area that needs improvement , is food. There were not good fruit or veggies available. There were lots of meat and fish choices, however, not cooked with great taste or flavour. The servers and entettainment staff definitely made my vacation.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Wonderful vacation

The sanctuary is for relaxation; great beach, great pool, lots of palapas at both; nice layout, friendly people. We relaxed, had great meals, good shows and made new friends. Rooms need some updates but good size. Employees were polite and always ready to help. Butler service at your floor is great to get the info you need and to book your a la carte restaurants (no limits per week). Resort is clean and safe. Nice spa and gym at nearby shopping area. We used the shuttle service a f [... read more]ew times to go to restaurants and shopping area. Only saw one show at theater as we preferred the nightly live bands outside the lobby. Only few negatives: Do bring insect repellent and afterbites as most people were getting bitten in the evening. A bit far from airport but worth the trek. Overall we were very pleased with the resort and the service.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Average

Bel hotel sans plus, la nourriture est tout simplement sans gout. Les employés de l'hotel sont la pour le pourboire. Il n'y a pratiquement aucune animation à part le spectacle. Je le recommande pas forcément

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Super friendly staff and amazing beach

It was my first experience in Cuba and I'm happy it started with this resort. The hotel room was nice and clean. On the first night the smell from the vent was not good, but they gave us even better room in the other building immediately. Maids did their job very well, we left them some tips and always had some cute animals folded from the towels on our bed. The food was ok. We are not the pickiest eaters, so we didn't complain. They really don't have sea food, just fish, such is pretty good. Th [... read more]ough the snacks at the pool bar are amazing. The bartender Leo at the pool makes incredibly good mixes. And our special thanks to the waiter Vladimir who was always very attentive and polite. The best part was the beach, of course, with good bar, super friendly staff, a lot of activities. Thank you all, guys, for making our vacation unforgettable. And thank you, Gabriel, the animator guy, for the amazing atmosphere and all the fun we had!

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Amizing resort

I love this place. Nice people . They are smiling all the time even they are tired. The food was very good and services amuzing. Places are clean. I did love vegetation. The room was very clean. I will return for sure.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Not as expected

For a new resort it was already in need of repairs. No towels or linens first day. Every extra is very expensive. Not close to any shopping or amenities. Great beach & pool area. Bring your own EVERYTHING.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Not so amazing

This is a newer resort and the rooms were great. Staff were very friendly. The beach was off to the end of the property so the oceanview rooms didn't see a sand beach but a rocky shore...no big deal. Beach was great. I was there in off season (Labour Day) and there was no problem getting a chair on the beach at any time. Food at the buffet was very disappointing. Poor quality and selection.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: its not five star I say its only Three star

food was very poor they put meat in every thing nothing for vegeterian also fruit was noo good in italian resturant they don't have any italian dish no tomatoes no onions no mushrooms no green chilies we were not satisfy for food

Amazing vacation at this resort. Well taken care of grounds, clean rooms and exceptional food. Entertainment each night high quality. Never boring even day time , staff members made sure that there is always something to do. Beach with white sand and miles of walking .... washrooms always clean and friendly staff making sure that everybody goes home with amazing memories. Definitely going back

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: nice resort clean

the rooms were clean i cant complain but the first day air condioning the last day before leaving back to montreal no electricity someone chit in front of our door secondly we had problems with or door know knob and no one come to repair. thirdly we went to complain at the desk but didint seem to care i was very disapointed.my husnand and i dont think that we will go back.thankyou.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Wonderful Stay at the Dhawa!

Just return on August 22, beautiful resort! Resort was clean, except the public washrooms, they were often not clean and a little foul smelling. Rooms, beautiful and extremely clean and comfortable. The beach was beautiful, very clean, no sea weed, sand was white and warm! Lots of beach chairs! The pools were equally clean and fairly well maintained. However, we were offered a return dinner and the service was excellent and the food as well. The Buffet was good, however, the "house" red wine was really not good, and it was extremely difficult to get any other kind, even when we offered to pay. Also, for some strange reason, there was a huge shortage of glasses and cutlery, in the buffet a little inconvenient. Also at the bar in the lobby, there was a shortage of glasses. We had to ask for a "glass". Also, it was the same "not so good" house wine. The staff was amazing! Helpful, friendly and caring. Of note, no mosquitoes at all! We really enjoyed our stay, the above notes of missing things were really not that significant. just made it a little inconvenient. We would definitely return to the Dhawa Coya Santa Maria! One suggestion, it would be nice to have a Cigar Lounge, with a wide selection of cigars to purchase.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Very good deal !

The beach is gorgeous; the pool is clean and is the best I’ve ever seen. The water is cool enough even if the weather is hot as usually in summer. Rooms: the architecture of the buildings is very attractive. We stayed in the Adult Spa Section area, very quiet area, and there are no children in this section Also the pool is very clean and well maintained. Food: Be realistic: Don’t expect the food like in Mexico because you didn’t pay the same amount of money either. Conclusion: I would come back? Yes, but usually I tend to visit a different place. Do I recommend this place ? Definitely yes !

sorry but i thought that i had already ----enjoyed some things but room was one problem after the other---tried to talk to the man from sunwing a couple of times he was rude and uncaring and not only to myself to others that were there in line--sunwing rep at airport was uncaring when we got stuck there and would not answer questions ....would neveer go back there or recommend to anyone --EVER

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Amazing Time

Can't say enough about our visit to Grand Memories Santa Maria. Amazing staff, Hector (Manager). Andy Fernandez (Customer Service), Laney (Entertainment Team) amazing! kept us entertained. Marisnae, Chapotain (Best Servers, can't thank you enough for taking care and looking out for our family) and all the others at the resort; went above and beyond with care, service and to assist with any issues that came up. Valentin Perla Blanca exceeded our expectations. Beautiful beaches, great entertainment, and wonderful, friendly people. A number of tours available. The catamaran tour is a great value; offers a lot of activities in one trip. Our first time but not our last.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Magnifique plage

La plage était magnifique et l’hotel très propre!! Pour ce qui est de la nourriture je donnerais un 7/10 mais je n’avais pas de grande attente car c’est Cuba!! Par contre très déçu du savoir vivre des cubains en visite à l’hotel!

Valentin Perla Blanca: Relaxing Vacation.

Among the resorts we’ve been I enjoyed this one the most. I liked the fact that there is a quiet side on the beach. The people gave us top notched service. From the gardener greeting us when we pass by and giving me fresh flower every morning, the cleaner who’s very polite, the bar tenders and waitresses and waiters and most specially our regular servers at the buffet (Felix and his group) who made sure we get good service. I must say though that the front desk service needs improvement. W [... read more]hen we were checking in, two Spanish speaking couples approached the desk clerk while we were in the middle of arranging our room keys, instead of the clerk telling them to wait until he finishes with us, he entertained both couples. Hate to say it but I really told him off. It was a tiring long trip and it was 11:00 pm we were tired and hungry and we just want our room keys. ( how I wish they can put an extra person to have a quick check in and as well welcome drinks ). I let it pass, but when we were checking out, there was a line and there’s this guest who did not line up so I told her no, I have to go first. So I did and when she tried to butt in, it was nice of the clerk to say one moment please. The problem was that the clerk doubted me and took him a long time to give me the release slip. I paid to stay for late check out the day before and when I gave the payment, the desk clerk said it’s ok I don’t need a receipt. Not knowing that this would create a big problem checking out. Another problem was when I called to ask for sugar, we waited for an hour and still no one came. Another instance was the fire alarm went on at 11 at night, I called and it took them close to an hour before they were able to turn it off. Overall, we still enjoyed our stay, the entertainment at night at the lobby is a plus. I hope when we come back they will give more time to the 2 girls who played the violin and piano more time to perform. They only perform on Thursdays and at the time we were there, they only performed for an hour. The crowd was kinda upset that night. We all waited for them to perform after the intermission but unfortunately they did not. I don’t know if it was because of the show going on at the theatre or what but the management should had just let them continued. After all not all of us wants to be at the theatre not because of the performance but because it was held in a room. Performance should be out in the open for people to enjoy more but then again that’s my perspective that’s why a lot of people did not watch the performances. I would still recommend this resort and we are planning to go back next year with some friends. Hopefully that the problems we had will not be repeated again. To Felix and his group, the bar tenders at the beach and the snack bar, the waitresses and waiters at the lobby and tea bar our cleaner at room 3860, to the gardeners, Thank you very much for making our stay enjoyable. We felt like we are part of their family. I do apologize though for not remembering their names.
