Riu Flamingos: Nice Resort

Grounds, rooms, pools etc. all very nice Somewhat mixed about service in buffet rooms - seemed disoriented at times with several different people getting drinks, picking up dishes etc. Got our own coffee in morning several times. A lot of Mexican food as well

Grand Palladium Vallarta: Awesome Resort for Families!

Grand Palladium Vallarta - The resort was great!! We were just there last week (Nov 28th - Dec 5th, 2015) My wife and I were travelling with our 2 year old daughter and our 6 month old daughter. The staff were amazing!! All the staff at the buffet were very attentive to us everytime we came in for breakfast and lunch. We also had exceptional service at the special beach buffets! The pool servers were fantastic! However, the Mexican ala carte staff was a bit snobby. When travelling with a young children it was a bit of an inconvenience after travelling all day. We just hung out in the lobby and had to keep asking the front desk if our room was ready. The young gentleman who brought our bags to our room was Awesome!! Room service food was pretty greasy, no matter what you ordered, but it was ok. All in all, the week was awesome and the staff was fantastic! We would come back for sure!!! Muchos Gracias!!!

Friendly Fun Vallarta: The name says it all - Friendly Vallarta!

We were very satisfied with our recent stay in this hotel, from the beginning till the end. From the check-in, restaurants and bars, daily activities and things to do, extremely friendly staff and generally very pleasant place to stay for family vacation. We are currently looking to book a January or February stay at this hotel. I cannot think of one negative thing to say simply because here is no reason for it.

Grand Palladium Vallarta: great resort

adult pool to small, entertainment was repetitive for people staying 2 weeks. rooms great, balcony too small. restaurants had great choices, great landscape, view over the pool, great having vendors at the resort

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Wonderful resort

The food selection and quality were great. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The grounds were kept immaculate day and night. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There were also lots of activities available right onsite.

Las Palmas by the Sea: Budget

This older Mexican style resort is okay. The basic rooms are spacious and clean. The food is so so with fairly limited choices. Drinks are what you expect from a 3 star resort. I did like the smaller size of this hotel and do rate the service and friendliness of most staff as good. If you are looking for an upscale, great food etc. experience , spend more money. All in all at a great price this place will do, its not bad value. I stress at a great price !.

Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel and Mexican Charm: Nice place , Nice people

This hotel has a nice older authentic Mexican feel to it than some we have stayed at . Our room was on the 1st floor near the dining area so we just hopped the balcony and grabbed coffee every morning which was nice. The food was good as far as buffets go. Fish, Mexican dishes , chicken and pasta , salads and soups and at least 4 deserts . They have a grill where you can order your morning omelette as you like and had other interesting things on the go during some meal times .They make a great S [... read more]panish coffee ! There is a small grill in the pool bar area for snacks in between meals ( Burgers , pizza ect..) The pool side bar was great and so were the staff .The beach has a nice little bar with snacks as well as beach service at your chair . The actual beach is a short 5 min walk from the hotel but they do have a shuttle that will take you there as well . We have always stayed at a hotel right on the beach in old town so not being directly on the beach and having to travel into town took some getting used to so keep that in mind if you want to be in old town a lot or want a direct beach view and access . It was around a $10 cab ride or 75 cent bus ride to go downtown. All in all the staff were great , The hotel was good and it was a fun trip :)

Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel and Mexican Charm: Much less than expected

Simply put, I have stayed three stars before, and this place does not compare. When you book three stars, your not expecting luxury, but you certainly are not expecting what this hotel offers. Broken tiles with large pieces missing in the bathroom. Extremely limited options for food. Nobody likes to drink their drinks out of tiny plastic cups. Some maintenance would be a good investment.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Good family resort

Colourful, and very clean. November, many local people which made meals being catered to Mexican, but salad bar was amazing. Booking specialty restaurants a nightmare..had to be done at 7:00 A.M. only for two consecutive nights, so if staying longer than a week meant going often in order to book a table..then not even a guarantee you were able to get one. Overall good value. Family pool Area noisy, evening shows were amazing.

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: Very pleasant resort and people

We enjoyed the resort. The room was spotless and the bed and bedding was fabulous. Unfortunately the food was just OK. The Spanish restaurant was good. The Japanese restaurant was very poor. The hostess was rude and you could smell rancid oil in the restaurant. The a la carte restaurant was pleasant for breakfast.

Fiesta Americana Riviera Nayarit: Dreams Vallarta

Great staff, great food, awesome pools and beach. I loved the pool and the lounge chairs around the pool. It was nice to have the option to have shade or sun. I have a nine month old baby and it was definitely stroller and baby friendly place.

Samba Vallarta: Don't stay here

I'm sorry to that this is a terrible place to stay. The room we were given was so moldy that I couldn't stop coughing. The day manager was contacted by Transat moved us to another room. Again terrible! Despite being the presidential suite it too was moldy and the air conditioning didn't work. By this time the manager had left and the poor clerk at the desk could only offer us the room we had just left. Rather than move again I spent most of the night on a chair on balcony while my son and daught [... read more]er toughed it out inside. Transat rep arrived at 9am and we were packed and ready to leave. Transat found us another hotel and a $40 cab ride and we had magic. Albeit we paid more but we didn’t have a choice we had to move.

Riu Palace Pacifico: RIU Palace in Puerto Vallarta

Great resort and great value for the money. Love the area, have been to Puerto Vallarta several times. Service, staff and food was outstanding. RIU buffets are second to none. Room was nice and clean with great amenities. The grounds are very nice and well cared for. One area of improvement would be to add washrooms down by the beach and pool bar area. It's a bit of a trek to walk up from the beach to the resort to use the washroom.

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: Ok resort, not what I expected

Very small, fight for a chair at the pool. Maintenance of the rooms could use some looking into. Not the level you would expect from a Hilton. A la carte restaurants were a redeeming feature, thankfully you could go to one every night. Supper was the worst meal at the buffet which was very small and average at best.

Riu Vallarta: Almost perfect

Run Vallarta is a beautiful resort. Very clean, food is exceptional, views beautiful. we probably won't be back only because there is no where to get away from the entertainment noise. the way the resort is designed almost every room has a view but the downfall to that is all rooms are on the courtyard. Music every night till 11 and pool entertainment most if the day.

Las Palmas by the Sea: Very noisy!

University student made a lot of noise in hall and rooms all night long and it was impossible to sleep. The pool was full of them yelling and drinking so no room to swim. Also they took over the outdoor bar and trying to get a drink or a seat took forever.

Tropicana Hotel: Great resort

This hotel was great. Was central to the romantico zone. best beach front in the old town. Soo much to see and do. All the staff at the hotel were amazing. Will definitly back. Can't have enough of the tasty topicanas.

Sheraton Buganvilias Puerto Vallarta Hotel: Great resort

Stayed at this resort first time and really enjoyed it. Food was great, even 24 HR room service was included which was real treat :) Staff was awesome, helpful and friendly, resort was clean and the gym was fantastic top of the line facility. The only thing is if you are looking for to swim in the ocean, that's not the best place as the waves were a bit rough and usually quite high, yet of course the pools were great along with swim-up bars and poolside food service. Locacion is good too as it's [... read more] right by the city, so it's nice to walk in the city and check things out, including shops, restaurants and scenery. We for sure would go back. :)

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Colors and friendly staff!

Airport arrival and departure were quick and very well handled, reception and getting your room upon arrival to the grounds was done quite fast despite the many people arriving at the same time. The grounds are kept spotless clean, the staff is super friendly and helpful, take your time communicating, they will bend over backwards to help. The very bright colors of the whole complex is something never seen in other resorts, a real mood and energy booster. without being over the top. Many interes [... read more]ting vases and other features giving all sort of shapes and colors to add to the overall feel of the hotel, perfectly complimenting the wonderfully and equally colorful gardens. It is very easy to find one's way around the complex. The food, while alright was a little repetitive even after a few nights, rooms are basic, a little worn looking, the bed was comfortable, but who spends much time in the room anyhow. Hot water available most of the time. We felt very safe around the villa, never got any bad vibes. The system for reserving the a la cartes is annoying and rather poorly thought out. especially for late risers, fortunately we are up early, even at six AM people are lined up to wait for the seven AM opening to reserve, and you can only reserve for 2 a la cartes at a time. We did the Italian Piccolo which was very nice, enclosed and air conditioned. Try the octopus appetizer! It is great! We also did the Radizzo (Spelling?) which is the Brazillian, if you are a meatatarian then this is most certainly for you. Various meats are brought out to you, table by table, on long skewers by the cooks. There is chicken for the non-red meat eaters I am happy to say. There are many pools to choose from, some adult only. There are many bars to choose from too. Thursday nights are usually Mexican theme nights, so all except one restaurant serves only Mexican style food. Obviously this was spot on. The guacamole in any afternoon or evening buffet was superb! Regardless the only things that kept us from giving this five stars was the lack of real daily variety (let us see some shrimp and other seafood such as smoked salmon (lobster too??!!) on the buffet trays every now and then like we had at a 4-star in Cuba we frequent, and also some healthy desserts on the lunch and dinner buffets such as fruit, you are pretty much limited to sugary cakes and cookies which can sit pretty heavy in the stomachs of some people. Safes are small, must be rented, and there are no fridges in the room. Small niggling things yes, and not really enough to keep us from saying this hotel gives you a lot of bang for the buck! For the colors and warmth in many ways more then one this place gives, we would come back to it but we will probably try something else next year, there are so many other places to see in the world.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Sadly disapointed!

We have been to the Royal Decameron four times now. This last time there was a noticeable difference in the facility itself and the way things were done. Number one the paint colours had changed and not for the better. It was like the owners were trying to dull down the appearance. We also noticed that the grounds, pools and pool areas weren't as well kept. There was a huge change over in the staff, which included the managers. The old managers used to patrol the various areas of the hotel and y [... read more]ou could tell who they were by the colours of their uniforms, they wore red shirts. The old managers also used to join in on Mexican night, on Thursdays, by dressing up in traditional Mexican attire and dance with the staff throughout the restaurant area. I as a manager, I thought that was very professional of them as it shows that they are not better than any other staff and that they are not willing to make staff do something that they are not willing to do themselves. The staff seemed like they were on lock down, not as outgoing and friendly as they used to be. Also we noticed that instead of two cleaning staff for your rooms, there is only now one for the level. The only good thing that I can think to say is that the food was better. There were less choices, but much better choices. Over all I think we are done with the Royal Decameron in Bucerias...time for a change.
