Barcelo Maya Tropical: Not as expected

Kind of disappointed with the service. No sea view room offered as given in the email. Service not as expected. Room keys not working very often. Bar servers not friendly. Would not recommend others friends.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Overall ok

The hotel it self is nice. Do not get a mangrove facing room if you want to enjoy you balcony, the smell is not nice. Beds are super comfy. Buffett has been one of the best we have had. Drinks are premium. Beach is nice but had a lot of seaweed. If you’re a beach person like me it’s not the beach for you. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The staff were incredible and friendly.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Excellent resort for all age groups

This is a fantastic resort !! The grounds were beautiful and well kept, the pools were gorgeous and there were so many that you never had a sense them being crowed, lots of water areas for both kids and adults. There are so many things to do at this resort that you can’t possibly be bored and in our case may want to add a second week to your vacation in order to do everything. We had delicious meals at the five that we went to and I’m guessing the ones we didn’t try were equally good. We tried 5 different buffets and the all had lots of choices and a nice variety of food. Any staff that we interacted with were friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this resort and we intend on returning next year.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Great Experience - again!

As before the resort is beautiful. The grounds, buildings, pools, and beach are very well maintained and clean. The seaweed issue is dealt with throughout each day to maintain access to the beach. Staff are wonderful and attentive and while there is quite a distance to some of the rooms and other amenities the ongoing shuttle service works very well.

Ventus at Marina El Cid Spa and Beach Resort: Beautiful, clean and friendly resort

Elcid is one of the best resorts that we've ever stayed at. The staff are so friendly, kind and helpful there. The resort is very clean and well run. The food is amazing and there are so many options between room service, buffets at all the restaurants or a la carte for dinner (with reservation) and of course the amazing Mercado de Delores Market of Tastes. Lots of pool areas and a ton of loungers spread throughout the 3 areas of this growing resort. No shortage of activities for both kids and adults and the entertainment has greatly improved over the years, so kudos to El cid. Sadly, the sea weed issue did keep us from a walk along the beach, but El cid worked diligently to clean up the beach area daily. Sadly this problem is not limited to Mexico The only negative comment that I would like to add is that the road way to get into the resort is horrible with so many potholes and not being paved and no lights. We arrived late in the evening and our driver had to swerve many times to avoid the pot holes. For such a beautiful resort, the entrance is sub par. And with this unpaved road filled with potholes, it did not lend itself to a walk outside the resort.

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Amazing Resort

Nothing bad to say. Food and drinks top notch. Main buffet has lots of selection and different theme nights. Loved the beach bbq themed nights. Had a beachfront room and loved it. Resort beautifully kept. The staff were all amazing. Will definitely return to the Eldorado Palms.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Some Issues

The grounds are beautiful, the staff is great and we never had a bad meal. We stayed at this hotel 5 years ago and loved it so much we came back, but I don't think we will be returning. We paid for a premimum room like we had 5 years ago which gave us beer in our room as well as soda and water, this time only water. Trying to get dinner reservations, I had to set the alarm and get up at 4 am to book and even then we only got 2 ala cartes. You should not have to get up at 4 am to book dinn [... read more]er, and you could only book 24 hrs in advance. You should be able to come in on your first day and pick the days (if available) for the week. When we did go to both the steak house and the Italian half the resturaunt was empty so not sure what the issue was. I would recommend this hotel but i would say to pay for a standard room and not the extra for a premimum as you don't get anything extra

Grand Palladium Kantenah: It used to be an amazing resort...not this time

I have recently returned from Grand Palladium Kantenah resort, in Riviera Maya. This was my 6th time at this specific resort and my 8th time at Palladium/TRS. I had great memories of this resort from previous experiences and that's the reason I have returned. This time, unfortunately, my expectations were not fully met, I was a bit disappointed with my vacation. 1. Because I was a frequent return customer I got a VIP bracelet. Unfortunately the bracelet meant nothing, it came with NO addition [... read more]al perks. I got the same treatment and same access to facilities like a guest who was there for the first time. Pre-covid, I was there on the 5th visit and the VIP bracelet I got allowed me access to all restaurants and all bars. Not this time :-( 2. Overall the quality of the service, in my opinion, has gone down from my previous visits. The food at the buffet was not as varied as before, was quite repetitive and more limited in choices. In the past they had themed nights at the buffet which provided great choices for dinner. Not this time. The a-la carte restaurants did not hit the bar either. Food was served cold, or wait time for the food to be served was long. 3. Covid protocol was non existent. Pre-covid, when entering any restaurant you were asked to hand sanitize, the host had the sanitizer available and everybody had to sanitize - again this was pre-covid. Now, the hand sanitizer was just sitting in a corner and nobody was asked to use it. 4. I have asked for a room that was not on the ground floor. I don't think this was a huge request. I did get one and it was facing the highway and it was very noisy. I've asked to be moved because I could not sleep, they moved me after I insisted and waited several hours. I got a room on the ground floor. Well, at least it was quiet. So, overall, my vacation was not as pleasant as I was expecting it to be. There are many choices for resorts and next time I will likely chose a different resort. VIP bracelet was useless so I have no incentive to go back.

Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel: Relaxing in Paradise

Just returned from a 7 day holiday at the Blue Diamond Hotel. Mexico had a travel warning, so I was slightly nervous to travel there with my pregnant fiancée. We ended up booking with SunWing. I am an experienced traveller and must say the entire process was extremely well organized and I felt that everyone involved took extra care to make us feel safe and have a wonderful time. The resort is nestled in natural nature instantly making you feel relaxed and happy. The food was excellent and you could order as much as you like. The staff is warm and welcoming. Make sure to plan on giving tips as it is the norm. The beach is quiet and relaxing and there is no need to reserve a chair at 5am. There are plenty and the beach waiter makes sure you don’t go hungry or thirsty. If you want to have a quiet relaxing holiday this resort is perfect. You never feel that there are a ton of guests and you are overwhelmed with noise and people partying. The rooms are cleaned meticulously and the beds are comfortable with quality sheets and pillows. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Excellent Family Resort

My family attended the ORP in late January and stayed in an Eden Junior suite room. My son and daughter aged 9 and 7 respectively, had a great time at this resort. Room: Eden Juinior Suite - Garden View. The garden view was a nice quiet break from the busy days. The room was well appointed and decorated with comfy beds. No problems with humidity, just keep the patio door closed. Lots of room to hang clothes and put in drawers. Nice double sinks in bathroom and separate shower and toilet stalls [... read more]. Jacuzzi tub takes about 30min to fill. Negative - patio lights turn off around 1030-1100pm and then the WiFi. Can remedied by dragging a lamp out to read a book if needed. Very few mosquitoes at night. The resort has 900+ rooms but never felt too busy or crowded and usually never waited long if at all for a restaurant or lounger. I think the key to not waiting for a restaurant and better service was to show up for the initial opening time. It seems like after that they became more disorganized. Enjoyed the odd shuttle bus to bring us up and down the resort. As a family it wasn't worth it to buy the 'priviledge' perks for higher end booze and restaurant bookings. Our favourite restaurants were the Mexican and Italian. Route 66 was a disappointment with bad service and the steak at the Steak House was some sort of mystery meat in my opinion. Didn't really taste like beef and quite fatty. Might be too spoiled with high grade beef in Canada. The buffet was a great staple restaurant and had a small nightly flair such as Italian or British, etc. but mostly the same things day after day, but a good variety and didn't get sick of anything or sick at all for that matter. The beach unfortunately had some rocks amongst the beach sand that you bumped into when you went into the ocean and were hard to see due to the turbidity in the water as every day was a red flag day and had waves. We managed but it was not ideal and most likely just part of seasonal winds. We brought our own snorkels but never attempted due to this. Walking the beach was easy and you can go pretty far especially to the North. Only had an issue finding a sun lounger one day and just dragged two chairs from the nearest pool without issue. There were several pools and spent most our our time at the pool with the waterslides and the Eden pool. The resort kids activity crew did an excellent job and not too pushy to get kids involved and kind. Prises were often unique snacks and t-shirts. My kids attended the older kids club which had a few gaming systems, a pop machine, board games and Foosball. Very chill and laid back. The younger kids club was more of a daycare with group trips to the ice cream shop etc. The resort has a little strip mall section with stores, a casino, and the ice cream shop and Café. We enjoyed the ice cream shop and Café daily. The entertainment at the theater was quite well done and entertaining except for the poor transitions between acts with the lighting a sound crews, at little amature on their part. The performers themselves were great. The kids really enjoyed the magic show. The entertainment in the plaza pre and post theater shows was kind of lame. Probably the best talent was karaoke night from fellow travelers, lol. The face painting was fun for kids, but show up early if interested, as they give out tickets and only paint about 20-25 kids faces then leave. After checking in to the resort is the classic membership speal over complimentary drinks in the lobby bar and offer for a tour after a breakfast booking. I suggest you just smile and decline their offer and begin your vacation then get wrapped into a salespitch. They understand and never hasseled us again. End thoughts: Had a great time as a family, ate a variety of foods, and enjoyes the beautiful resort especially interacting with the monkeys and coati. We had a good time off resort on an excursion to Tulum ruins and swimming in cenotes and a visit to Playa Del Carmen via cab. Felt comfortable and well taken of.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: A nice little getaway

All in all a good place to go We did get suckered into listening to a sales pitch about the VIP club. It was not for us as we do not travel all that much. We did get a $100 credit for the resort and used it for souvenirs Staff was great Drinks were good, food was good. USE THE APP TO BOOK DINNERS AT THE RESTURANTS! After trying to book with the front desk we found an app that worked great, would wake up and choose a place to eat and book for the next day. Barcelo Maya Colonial: Trip to Mexico

It was a great trip no problems weather was hot, no problems at the airport or the hotel, staff were helpful food was good, great beach and pools took some day trips never any problems always felt safe

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Not up to par

The hotel needs repairs staff is helpful but the guests smoking anywhere they wanted with no reguards to others and staff not enforcing them to smoke in the designated areas sends a message that the hotel is only after the dollar with all disreguard to other guest health, we will not be back, even after telling the hotel staff of the issues, nothing was done

Ventus Ha at Marina El Cid: Excellent timr

Travelled to Ventus ha as a single woman with two kids. We felt exceptionally safe. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. Hotel was clean and modern. We enjoyed the smaller solid this resort complex.’it was never too busy and by boys often in the large pool with less then five people. Seems to cater to young families amd older adults, which was perfect for us.

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Very nice place

The staff were excellent and always very helpful The beach area was maintained steady from seaweed There were many pool areas to swim but they weren’t very big pools but otherwise the whole place was well maintained The food was always great I found the Italian Alacarte restaurant was the best There wasn’t much this place didn’t have Rooms were clean and fridge was always restocked regularly They also have room service but we never used it I would definately go back

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Ocean Coral

Nice resort, clean, good sized rooms, great daily housekeeping. Our bathroom sink was plugged when we got there, called reception, but no one showed up. Next day called again, this time telling them it was running over (which it was not but could have been if we used it for another 5 minutes)., they showed up right away. We were using the hide a bed in the room. but it did not have bedding, this also took 3 calls to get bedding. There are not enough lounge chairs around the pools for the amount of people at the hotel, If you have kids and are staying at the kid pool there is lots of chairs there and hardly any people, but you are far from everything else and bar service is not great there. Most staff are very friendly, helpful and polite, EXCEPT at the check in counter, customer service areas. The staff there are rude, they just want to sell you an upgrade. They are nothing more that salesmen wanting to nickel and dime you to death. They will try to force you to book trips with them, buy the upgrade packages, waste you time on tours of the resort etc. Our group was very turned off by the staff here, one of the reasons we would not go back to this line of hotels. Booking of restaurants very hard to do. You must use their website, lucky a few people in our group brought their cell phones. We normally don't travel with ours as it is too expense outside of Canada. There is two websites (?) to book restaurants through, one works better than the other. Booking opens at 9 every day and is full by 9:10. So you need it be paying attention to time, and you can only book for that day. THAT IS UNLESS YOU PAID FOR ONE OF THOSE UPGRADES they are trying to sell you. Which I think was an extra $30 per day for everyone in your group. Then you can book for the whole time you are there in advance. The beach is narrow, lots of seaweed, they try to clean up everyday. Not the resort fault as all hotels along the beach seem to have the same issue.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Beautiful Resort

This hotel is one of the best I've been to. The room was clean and grounds kept immaculate. When it came to dining there was lots to choose from and the restaurants were excellent. Travelled with my daughter's family with two young children and there was a great assortment of food for them to eat. Their Kids Club is great...the ladies running it are patient and great with the children. Every night they performed plays with the children in their care for that day in the theatre. ( Moana, Froz [... read more]en etc.) Entertainment at the pool each day was also very good! The only draw back is the long bus drive to the resort. I would definitely go back.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great experience!

The Barcelo Maya is a superb all-inclusive resort experience. The buildings and grounds are lovely; food is top-notch and the employees work hard to keep their guests happy. The resort itself is massive but well designed to maintain walkability from one end to the other. There are SO many activities and places to check out, for adults and kids alike - everything a resort vacation should be but often is not. No disappointments here!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Can't beat the swiming

Loved the bay! Swimming/ snorkeling every day not mater the conditions on the sea. Great pleasant staff. Lovely grounds and wildlife. Restaurants were top notch and buffets had a large selection. Lots of activities to do.

Riu Tequila: Always a great time!

This resort is full of activity. Visiters to the Palace resort could be found at the Tequila Sports Bar enjoying sports not readily available at their resort. No need to pay more when Riu Tequila has it all. We spent time at the Yucatan resort enjoying the ocean and pool. Our stay included the Yucatan and the Playacar (a nice walk on the beach to stop for a refreshment.) Great food, atmosphere, shows and entertainment staff.
