The hotel is small and compact. I found it to be very clean and found the staff had a lot of pride in the hotel. Lots of food choices and very tasty.
It is a bit dated and could use new cushions for the couches in the lobby but if you could overlook that then all else is good!

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Great resort!
Everything was great: employees, service, food, animals, nature etc. Really glad that we found this hotel, I would love to come back again and again!!! We love to spend time on beach but due to wind and seeweed (couple days) we have to relocate to pool area. But it wasn’t high season so we can expect this.

JOIA Bavaro by Iberostar: Fantastic Resort
We were very impressed with the general appearance of the resort. Grounds were well maintained with grounds keepers constantly picking up dead leaves, trimming hedges and picking up litter. Rooms are well maintained and cleaning staff are very friendly and eager to assist. Our butlers, Johsu and Staling were terrific. They responded to our every request. Nice choice of restaurants with friendly staff. Our dinner at The Surf & Turf restaurant was a disappointment as the lobster was over done and [... read more]the beef was tough or the knives were dull. The beef was also tough at the Italian Restaurant. The Bella Vista restaurant with its buffet was super. Choices galore. We actually gained weigh while at the resort. On occasion smokers detracted from our meals. We recommend that all restaurants be made smoke free. We spent most of our time lying next to the pool where eager staff encouraged us to participate in various activities ranging from archery to bingo.
If the resort is planning to do a bit of a face lift, we recommend that they replace the low toilets with comfort height toilets.
Flights to and from Punta Cana with Sunwing were disappointing. We were seated in the 2nd row but when the staff came to take the food order, the item we wanted was no longer available! Note, we were in the 2nd row and perhaps 3 such items had been served. Unbelievable! It was organized chaos when we arrived to find our transportation to the resort. On the return trip, the aircraft was late in arriving at Punta Cana. When we were allowed to board the bus to take us to the aircraft, we sat in the bus for about a half hour in the baking sun at the gate. After we boarded the aircraft, we had to wait another 3/4 of an hour while a couple who had been refused entry to DR were brought back to the aircraft. We left 1 1/2 hours late. We are very unhappy with Sunwing.

JOIA Rose Hall by Iberostar: Not a luxury hotel!
Dont let the name fool you, this is not luxury. The Grand was built 7 years ago but it is quite dated. Food is good, beach full of seaweed. For the price we paid, we should stayed at a Sandals resort.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Five Stars Vacation!!!
We had a great time, great resort with a lot of activities from archery, shooting, bike tours, tennis court, a new and modern gym to name only a few.
The service was 5 stars everyone was greeting us with a smile and from reception, concierge, waiters, entertainment staff we felt welcome and spoiled.
A great club for children, we don't have young kids but we noticed what a good time the children had from morning till evening.
We will definitely recommend this resort to our friends.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Wonderful, hospitable resort
Although first time in DR, not first time in Caribbean and I must say that this fine resort to spend a short holiday.
Resort was well laid out and easy to become familiar with, check in and check out quick and professional. Lobby bar was well stocked and friendly welcoming staff. Much appreciation to Stephanie and Katherine for all their help and always a friendly smile and wave. We found the Ocean-view/ Sea-view 3rd fl[... read more]oor room in Block 1 very welcoming. Quiet and peaceful. King size bed was soft and comfortable, maid service was top notch and professional.
Plenty of choices and good food in the buffet with prompt, pleasant attentive wait staff. Lunches at the beach and in the beach restaurant meant always having a nice meal without dressing for main restaurant.
Overall a great resort that Management and Iberostar can be proud to represent.
Many thanks to Wendy Van Zandwyk @ Tripcentral Barrie for recommending and arranging with Westjet Airlines.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Our Happy Place!
This was our second time, at this resort, in the past six months. The resort itself is very dated, however it's the people you go back to see. The workers, whether in the buffet, bar, maids, entertainment staff, are just fabulous. They are what make our vacation. We are looking forward to going back again next year!

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Beautiful resort!
Overall this resort is extremely well run! The grounds are very lush with assorted palms and plants. The peacocks, iguanas, capybaras, monkeys that run wild about the place lend a truly tropical feel. The staff were always very helpful and cheerful; from the front desk to the groundskeeper. There was always an assortment of food to satisfy any tastes. The nightly entertainment was always fun, but could have a bit more variety. Some themes were too similar. The front reception should have m[... read more]ore staff on at checkout time and when the new clients are scheduled to arrive. I was very happy overall and would definitely recommend it and will return again for another visit.
This was a girl's trip for my friend and I and we were treated so well from the moment that we arrived until the time we left. Everyone we met was so friendly. You can tell that the guests are treated very well as there is a happy vibe throughout the resort.
We loved the pool. It was enormous with different areas depending on what you were wanting to do. There was no shortage of shade either there or at the beach. It may have been the time of year, since it was October, but there still[... read more] seemed like there would be adequate space even if it was busier. The beach was also very nice. We did see some seaweed but there was still plenty of areas to swim where the sand was lovely.
We loved the fact that you could book an a la carte every night. We booked a few right away when we checked in and then easily booked the rest through the app. All of the a la cartes were excellent but we especially enjoyed the Cajun and the Japanese. The service was excellent in all of them also. The breakfast buffet near the main lobby was amazing. The staff there took the time to learn your name and how you took your coffee. We also loved the shopping center with the casino, shops and disco. We had lunch and ice cream there one day. So nice that this was all included also. Most days we had lunch at the snack bar on the beach. Great food there too.
The room was extremely spacious. This was the reason we chose the Maya over the Lindo and we were very happy that we did. There is a small corridor when you come in where the closets, fridge, safe and bathroom are. There is another door that you can close if someone is an early riser. There was also an additional sitting room and then the balcony that was very large too. It even had a hammock. The room cleaning was always done by the time we returned and they did a great job. No matter what time we went out for dinner, early or late, we always received turn down service with extra water, cute towel and face cloth shapes and rose petals.
The WiFi worked very well everywhere on the property and was included in the price.
The main lobby bar (Snake Bar) was always fun and the drinks were well made there. The bartenders would often go elsewhere if they needed to get you something they did not have. Great drinks everywhere else also.
The resort is very large, however it does not take very long to figure out the short cuts. You can also call for the golf carts or flag them as they drive by. We did not need them too much except when we went to the Lindo for dinner at the Cajun restaurant.
We did not go to the entertainment in the evening because we tended to eat later and ended up going to the lobby for drinks after dinner.
The resort was also a short 30 - 35 min ride from the airport.
I have been to many all inclusive resorts but had not visited an Iberostar before. I really cannot think of anything that we did not enjoy about our stay and will definitely be back.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: The resort was acceptable.
The resort was very beautiful considering they had a hurricane last year. The room was very specious and clean. Our maid did an excellent job with all of decorations on the bed etc. We had an end unit in bungalow 2 and it was away from everything and the noise.
The pool was a bit of a disappointment. We could not use the pool for one day since it was being cleaned. It was pretty green on the day we arrived and needed to be cleaned. The other two pools were not that great either. One [... read more]of our friends fell through the grate beside the pool and had to visit the doctor. She was ok but had a pretty big bruise. Another person in our group got an swimmer ear infection. We did not use the beach very much as the water too rough and you could not walk in. We had a toddler in our group and she could not play in the water. There is no beach for walking. Lots of chairs to sit in but no one was using them. There where always a lot chairs at the pool as well.
The food for the first few days was good and then it went down hill. I am not sure what happened. The main buffet was closed from October 30th until we left. They were painting and repairing.
The reason we keep going back to Cuba is people. We have been to Cuba about 30 times and this resort has the best people. They are so friendly and they seem to enjoy working there and they remember everyone's names. It is like one big happy family. I hope Iberostar gets their act together and gives these people appropriate tools or these wonderful people will leave. Which would be such a shame.
There was 11 of us and we were not feeling well through the week one way of another.

Iberostar Waves Quetzal: Not a bad resort
The good: WiFi and internet connections are good with plenty of bandwidth. Was able to stream videos on the beach most of the time. Never lost WiFi connection but internet connection dropped a couple of times.
The bad: Good liquors are not included anymore and the price is insane. From the free ones you have to do your research and specifically ask for a decent one. Smoking is forbidden in many areas but this is not really enforced.

JOIA Bavaro by Iberostar: Outstanding Resort
Hotel grounds are beautiful. Rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. It also has a very nice whirlpool tub with glass windows. the rain shower head is very powerful.
Food everywhere was outstanding, the buffet offered amazing food which included lobster tail at lunch and dinner. Food presentation both at the buffets and ala carte restaurants was amazing.
Plenty of beach huts and there were always seats available around the pool.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Best Staff Ever
This is a beautiful resort with great amenities and incredible staff. They were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The pools are gorgeous except that the large, main pool was closed almost everyday......so no swim up bar!
The beach is incredible and, just as the photos in the website depict, you take a long walk on a pier and use stairs to enter the ocean. Just a bit different but it doesn't change the beauty. The food was as expected as it's Cuba and they just don't have the resources[... read more] or quality that we do but they certainly do their best with what they have.
The highlight of our trip was the exceptional staff and in particular the beach bar guy named Eudis. He made our stay so memorable and fun and he's such a great person and and amazing bartender. We would definitely return just to see him!!! Thanks to all staff and hopefully see you again soon.

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Fantastic Resort
I stayed at the Iberostar rose hall beach resort in Montego Bay. We visited from October 20-27. We were there for my wedding.
Location: The resort is 20 minutes from the airport which is a definite bonus. The grounds was well designed in a U-shape. Everything is in close proximity. You don't have to walk far from your room to get to the restaurants, pool, beach or lobby. There is zero garbage on the ground. The landscape is in perfect condition. Lots of tall trees, flowers, fountains and p[... read more]onds. No bugs, barely any mosquitos or bees.
Food: Our group made reservations for the steakhouse Monday, and Cajun and the Japanese restaurant for Tuesday night. The steakhouse is outdoors restaurant off the beach. The al a carte restaurants are small and spaces go fast, so make your reservation as soon as possible when you arrive rather than the day before you want to eat at the location. The food in the buffet was delicious. Every day the food had a different theme for breakfast lunch and dinner. For any guests who have allergies (such as myself) to seafood or fish, be careful. The fish dishes were placed directly beside other dishes so cross contamination from the utensils or serving tongs is possible. Note: all restaurants serve fish but the smell is not terribly overwhelming. While eating at the steakhouse, one of our guests found a chunk of plastic in her brownie, which cut her mouth. The serving staff were unsure of the source of the plastic. The chocolate Twinkies were inconsistent in texture, some soft and some rock hard making them unable to eat. Overall, the food is very tasty and flavorful. If you don’t like spices, there are many meat options that are not spicy.
The mini bars in the rooms were not restocked daily, and we had to call for extra bottles of water.
Staff: The staff was absolutely amazing. The bartenders are very kind and make sure each person is served in order without making anyone wait too long. Ask for Anthony, he makes the best drinks. The entertainment staff was the best. Shout out to Angel, Sparkles, and Macaroni. They were always by the pool and beach encouraging every one of all ages to get involved in the sports, games, and contests. The prizes and the praise are definitely worth it if you are shy.
Wi-Fi: The Wi-Fi was a little slow in various parts of the resort. If you are travelling with a group, I would recommend using Whats app or Facebook messenger to stay in contact with your friends and family. They work perfectly.
Pool: There is one large pool with more than enough space for everyone. The swim up bar in the in the pool was only opened for one day, the other days it was closed (probably for construction). So you have to come out of the pool and walk to the bar stand to get a drink. There was always enough beach and pool chairs.
Beach: The beach and sand are beautiful and clean. It is a long stretch shared between the 3 properties (Beaches, Suites, and Grand). The local vendors are on the beach daily, just ignore them or politely tell them to leave you alone if you don’t want to buy anything. Beware there are lots of jelly fish in the water and they do come close to the shore.
Room Service: If you order room service be warned that the food may take a while to get to your room. You can always ask for extra clean towels. Not all rooms come with door signs that please do not disturb. To avoid room service or cleaning staff from coming into your room unwanted, I highly advice to use the top latch on your door.
Entertainment: There are nightly shows in the theatre that start at 9pm. The disco is on the suites property, but it is only open Wednesday-Saturday. On some nights there is also a beach party with fire dancers.
We enjoyed our stay and would visit the Iberostar resort again.
Grounds are beautiful, staff is very friendly, great restaurants and lots of activities to do! Snorkeling off the beach when it wasn't too wavy, beach volleyball, tennis, gym, fun competitions on the beach run by resort staff, clean pools and quality food. Would highly recommend this resort for families or a couple's getaway.
