Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great Resort - Second time!

Laguna Azul is a great resort. We were there for a second time March 2020 and last year April 2019. Been too many resorts in Cuba and Dominican. We found this resort a perfect size. Lots of beach/pool chairs. Never had to save chairs either time we went. Buffet is good for Cuba food. Very clean resort. Friendly staff. Looking forward to returning next year. They do offer VIP for I believe an extra $10.00 a day per person - looked into it and don't think its worth it. Does not offer th [... read more]e things that I would find beneficial. Really look into it before you purchase. I seldom if at all seen people actually using the perks it offers.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful but tired resort

We love this resort and have visited many times, last in 2017 on the regular side and 2015 on the Royal side which was fantastic. But sadly this time on the Royal side the rooms are showing wear and need some refreshing and the food was not great. Much of this is due to US trade embargoes against Cuba that make it very difficult to get supplies in. They are trying very hard to make the best of what they have but there was no wine at various times, no champagne and orange juice, and no chicken. P [... read more]ork was the main staple meat. Lobster used to be free on the menu and is now 20 pesos per person. But the grounds,pools and beaches are immaculate, the staff are lovely and if you are not expecting gourmet cuisine you can make do. However the price of a swim up room on the Royal side is not insubstantial and I really would like to see more value for money.

Melia Varadero: Enjoyable holiday

We stayed on The Level and we think that the extra cost was well worth it. The beach seems to be eroding at an alarming rate, but we enjoyed playing in the surf. The food was pretty good, considering the challenges that Cuba faces, and by staying on The Level you could have lunch at the Tex-Mex restaurant which helped to break up the monotony of the buffet. You could also book as many a la cartes as you liked, which was nice, and wine was available at all the bars throughout the day (as oppos [... read more]ed to just with dinner like some resorts). The rooms were clean, great views, the staff was friendly (mostly), and we were always able to find a lounge chair.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Spend your money elsewhere

This was our 4th trip to Cuba and have low travel expectations when it comes to all inclusive resorts. This resort was the oldest, moldiest, beyond dirty and infested with fleas that I've been to in all my 10 years of travel. The only positive thing I can say about this place was the staff were wonderful so I can only guess that's the only reason what brings people back.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Very disappointing for a 5 star resort

This was my 4th trip to Cuba & unfortunately not one of the better ones! The lobby is quite nice, but too small to accommodate guests for the evening entertainment. Our room was run down. The screen door was broken, the drapes were hanging off the rod. The bedspread was stained. (That came off the bed immediately & stayed on the floor until we left) there was a large ball of hair on the shower floor. The el a carts were embarrassing & a waste of time. The Italian restaurant didn’t offer Italia [... read more]n food. The Chinese was a little better, but only had 1 Chinese dish.... however it did offer shrimp & chicken pasta. The gourmet restaurant was everything but Gourmet!! The beach was terrible. There was only a small amount of umbrellas crammed together. The beach wasn’t groomed. Part of a great stay in Cuba is the beach & this beach was terrible!! The pool is nice, but not enough shade. You can have a tattered plastic umbrella if you pay the pool boy. The only pool daytime activities were from 2-3:30 and then nothing. There was only one night of entertainment in the theatre & that was very amateurish. I always brag about the Cuban people being friendly & welcoming..... not at this resort..... the staff was very robotic. No one tried to engage in conversation or tried to earn tips.... I would not recommend this resort!!

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Resort was Good, Food not so Much!

The Resort was very nice, but as an overall experience, I would only give it a 4-star rating. The food 3+. The Reception area was overwhelmed with those checking in, checking out, exchanging $, etc. The majority of the staff was great, the entertainment was good; there was not shortage of things to do. Melia Peninsula Varadero: I loved it

Everything was super clean, well kept, staff was always busy working and very friendly all the time. No complaints at all. Food was fine for me always something good, pool was a little too cold that’s all I could say. Management and all the staff were really great, made our vacation wonderful

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Excellent resort

The Iberostar Selection Varadero was so lovely in all the ways that matter. It's a very nicely designed setting that actually has character and is easy to get around. It's a nice size so that there's space for a variety of amenities, but it's not too big so that you feel lost or that you're in an impersonal environment. The food is high quality and it's clear that the hotel takes pride in providing good food, and a variety of it, for guests. The service at meals was very good. Servers are hel [... read more]pful and communicative. The staff and performers are so friendly and attentive. They make the atmosphere very pleasant. There's a community oriented feeling about the place, as it seems that everyone is there to create a fun, safe, laid-back experience. I highly recommend this resort to people who are looking for an easy, pleasant, and comfortable stay. I don't recommend it to people who are planning to party hard for their vacation, because it's not that kind of vibe at this hotel. At least, it wasn't when I visited.

Melia Marina Varadero: Mediocre resort

The resort itself is beautiful. However some of the outdoor fountains were dry. The staff were mostly friendly and professional however barely spoke English. The bars indoor and outside always ran out of certain alcohol or cups. The cockroaches were terrible, they were in the rooms, dining room, lobby bathroom. The resort never had change, therefore we didn't tip as much as we would have liked to.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Wonderful week away

Resort staff did everything they could to provide us with a perfect vacation. Resort was clean, comfortable and friendly. All food was good, restaurants were clean and organized. Entertainment was first class!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: We Had a wonder experince at Paradisus Princesa Del Mar!

My lady and I spent the first week of March 2020 at Paradisus Princesa Del Mar and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. I week was filled with bright smiles and good fun! We had a pool view Junior Suite room on the Royal Service side. The rooms were spacious and clean. They are starting to show signs of tiredness and could use a bit of a refresh but nothing that concerned us. Still great accommodations. The maids were in every day to service the room. The bar fridge item were replace regularly as th [... read more]ey were consumed. We always had hot water. Overall, we were pleased with the accommodations. We were assigned a Butler (Earnesto) and he looked after arranging anything we asked from lining up a full week of a la carte restaurants to helping us with resolving a Minor issue we had with our tour operator. His service was exemplary. The crystal clear pools were huge and beautiful. The white sand beaches and turquoise seas were stunning. The beach and pools were often busy but there was always enough loungers and shady spots to accommodate everyone. We never had to wait long at the swim up bars and often staff were coming around to the loungers to take drink orders. The food was as expected for Cuba! Do go to Cuba if your a foodie! lol They did the best they could with the resources they have. We never went without and we had some very good meals and some mediocre ones but overall we had no major complaints. Also, they made significant effort to accommodate my lady's gluten free diet. The Japanese restaurant was outstanding and so was the lobster dinner that could be ordered for $20.00 extra at any of the A La Cartes. We enjoyed the various bars throughout the resort. Especially, the Lobby Bar and the Piano Bar. The customer service from the staff throughout the resort was second to none! Never was there a time we thought the staff could have been more attentive or friendly. There was a show every night in the courtyard and great performances by local talent. After the shows, there was a dance in the disco below the main lobby. There was often live music at the various bars around the resort. We were able to get white or red wine throughout the resort with no problem. (Not available at Beach) We would return to this resort for another Varadaro Beach vacation in a heart beat!

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: A little disappointing

Took more than a day to get hot water. Very difficult to get towels. No 110 converter. Why wants to be going going to guest services every day on your holiday. Order the same thing on the menu but get a different version of it. Fries was the one thing that everyone knew to be the same but they were rearely brought out.

Hotel Tuxpan: Great resort for a cheap vacation

For the price we paid, our group was very happy with our stay here. It is Cuba, so we were already expecting the food to be not great but we certainly didnt go hungry, nor did we get sick (a first for us & we've been to several different places). The beach bar had amazing fresh fish which we enjoyed almost every day we were there. Beverages were good but availability of some were hit or miss, based on available ingredients. Rooms were ok...beds & pillows not as comfy as home but we were there to have fun in the sun, not sleep our vacation away. Bottled water seemed to be a precious commodity (1L bottle, not replenished daily) so once empty we ended up refilling it ourselves from pitchers available at the bars. Entertainment was good with games in the afternoon & nightly shows. We made our own fun most of the time & even played some baseball with staff who were delighted to do so! Speaking of staff, many thanks to Roberto (beach bar), Pablo(entertainment), Prinz?(DJ & baseball) Miguel (pool guy) and the many others who I've forgotten their names...we had a blast! Only issue we ladies had were the sand fleas/no seeums. Didn't bother the fellas but we came home with some very itchy bites! All in all, I'd gladly stay here again...just remember bug spray!

Be Live Turquesa: Disappointed

We have been in this resort some years back. We were quite happy then.. this time we were very disappointed. For any request or just casual service they are slow or simply they don’t do it. Obviously they don’t do anything unless you tip them. That’s very disturbing. We were not happy with the room service, not enough towel and toilet paper! The food was the worse since we went to many resorts in Cuba for 20 years.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Great place for families!

We really enjoyed this hotel. We were impressed by the well-maintained grounds, the excellent entertainment staff, the cleanliness of the hotel rooms, the comfortable beds, and the excellent effort put into making the food as varied and enjoyable as possible. We loved how calm this resort was, as well as the daily schedule of activities for kids! Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Great Resort - But

This was our fourth time at this resort and our suite and the staff were lovely as usual. Our one disappointment was the nightly entertainment in the bar. Once the music stopped the energy in the bar just dropped. The musicians only played for an hour and on our last night there was no entertainment in the bar. My recomendation to the resort is to have two hours of live entertainment every night and when they finish then use the speakers and music that they use around the pool area during th [... read more]e day to provide music in the bar area at night. I hope to hear that they implement this policy so that I will want to continue my yearly visit to this resort.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Awesome Resort

Staff were great resort very clean food was very good overall our stay was Great. 10 minute walk to the marina just outside the resort great place to visit lots of shops we felt very safe there. Would definitely recommend this resort.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: very good for the money

this was a great place clean and friendly room was very clean and comfordable food is what you expect all an all I would give it 8 out of10 tour to Havana was not worth the fee Canadian money is excepted at us rate of exchange

Memories Jibacoa: Lovely Resort

The Resort itself was incredibly clean for an older resort. I can't say enough about the housekeeping services! I'd give them a 10+ star rating! The grounds, pool and beach are beautiful! Great walking either on the beach or on the road surrounded by the high hills. The food, well what can i say, so plesantly surprised at the abundance of It! There should be no bad reviews on this whatsoever! Beverages, well, pretty much the same quality as most resorts unless you upgrade to Diamond Pkg. [... read more] Oh, and the Manager of the Memories Jibcoba, he was amazing! Interacted with the vacationers and even participated singing and dancing with the local musicians sometimes including his staff! Now I know why there are so many repeat visitors year after year!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Very nice resort

The resort grounds were beautiful, the rooms were comfortable and clean, we didnt stay on the royal side either. You get 4 a la cartes but we ended up getting an extra one because they weren't busy and had room. The food at the a la cartes were all really good the Japanese was our favorite and the Mediterranean one as well as the Hilltop was very elegan but I would advise not to order the beef as my steak was thin and full of grizzle very difficult to cut and little meat on it.
