The Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort is beyond exceptional. The layout of the building and the locations of pools, restaurants, fitness center, spa, bars and beach make it easy to get anywhere. Another great point is the "hop on hop off" bus comes right up to the resort entrance doors. The[... read more]re is no need to walk 3 blocks in the heat to wait for the bus. Melia Jardines del Rey: Excellent Vacation
We are enjoying our last day of vacation at MJDR, our favourite hotel in Cayo Coco. We have stayed here MANY times, and always appreciate the Cuban people, weather, beach and hospitality. We will definitely come back. Two large pools with many chairs and beach towels you can change as needed. The beach here is beyond paradise…crystal clear, calm and walkable forever. The huge lobby and open air Mojito Bar is popular with drinks, activities, entertainment and wifi. No mosquitoes. Our suite and [... read more]maid (Aradely) in building 18 was excellent. Highly recommend the coffee bar, a la carte restaurants, ice cream parlour, snack bar, pizza and barbecue. Thank you to our pool (Yeisy, Yexnier, Osiel) and beach (Joel and friend) bartenders. The animation team (Jordan and friends) are around all day and night for music, games, and the fun Thursday night beach party. Much gratitude to Lisbet and Adalberto in customer service and Yohander at reception and Papa/Jorge in food and beverage who have made our vacations outstanding since the hotel opened in 2014. Tonight we look forward to the special reception and dinner for repeat guests. Thank you to all staff for making our vacation so relaxing and special.

Playa Pesquero: Playa Pesquero
I was there Feb 27 to March 2 2024. I had been there years before in 2006. I met many people who have returned year after year ! The rooms are dated but comfortable and clean. The food was fine there were big differences between 2006 on the quality. There was a lot of variety and I loved the pasta stir fry bar each day and the fresh squeezed juice. We had our own brown bread , honey and butter, plus, I took Montreal steak spice as it helps to perk up some of the dishes. Bottled water was availab[... read more]le,however, one day wee were asking for some .. that day I drank fruit juice or didn’t get what I needed. I was lucky to learn about the “ gala”, a dinner for repeat customers-it was lovely ! The resort is huge and a trolly is needed to get around to the beach and some restaurants. We could not get into 2 restaurants we wanted - I understand repeat customers have more luck and $ help and they are air conditioned. The Romantica and the Italian one. Overall, it was lovely to get away . I will probably try a smaller resort next time, one that is easy to walk to the beach. I love Cuba, the people are beautiful and appreciate our gifts. I did exchange a lot of there $ and loonies and toonies for crisp no creased bills.
I did get eaten by no - see- ums ugh, so take bug stuff ! .. overall it was a long overdue get away ..

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Very clean
This hotel does their best. The facility is clean but seems like there isn’t enough staff for the large and busy resort. The grounds are beautiful. Food is typical for Cuba, nothing special. Location is very close to the airport. Decent value for the money spent.

Iberostar Coral Ensenachos: Amazing Vacation at this resort
You are always welcomed back by the staff that always recognize you. The service is awesome, exceptional. The location, although its a long drive from the airport is worth the drive. The food was also very good. When they are low in supplies, they make up for it. We have been there for 4 years and is now our preferred destination. I don't have any complaints and we are already looking forward to go again next year.

Hotel nice and clean, as for the rooms they need some work done to upgrade them. We asked to be moved as the room them put us in was unacceptable. Muthu Playa Varadero: Great Staff - Beautiful Beach!
We stayed here from March 19-30, 2024. We had an amazing time. If you go to Cuba with an open mind, you will have an amazing trip. The food is mediocre, you won't starve. Some days are surprisingly delicious, others are repetitive. You won't starve. The 4 flights to my room toned my legs, I didn't die. My boyfriend helped every single person he came across carry their luggage up the stairs, yes there are valets/bell hops but they are busy too.
The back side of Building 1 is hot because[... read more] it gets the sun from late morning straight through til it sets, we had AC and we rocked 24.5-27 every day and every night. Room was clean every day. We left toiletries and cash tip every for our housekeeper. 2L of water was left in our room every day. Sand was swept up, new towels.
No issues with pool/beach towels, ever. We swapped out when needed. All of the guys in the towel shack are lovely. Entertainment guys are awesome. Beach security and life guards were all amazing.
Beach was amazing, even with red flag the few mornings we had it, the sound was great and we read our books and dipped our toes in. The yellow flag is great fun to play in the water and never take your eyes off the waves coming lol. Big difference in temperature at the walkway, by the pool smoking hot, no wind. By the beach super windy and tolerable heat.
BBQ joint for lunch every day! That is the place to be. Get to know the wait staff - they are great humans. Carlos at the main buffet is a treat, we sat in his section every day. Just a sweet man. WIFI was great but sometimes they weren't able to print new tickets with login and password in which case you don't get wifi at all, you will live I promise, put your phone in your safe and continue on.
No vodka, no gin, no lots of stuff. They have slushie drinks and beer and rum. The shack down my the beach has cans of Moosehead! The Cafe is amazing, they ran out of coffee a few times for a few hours each time, it was fine. Cappucinos are great!
Go into Varadero and eat at Varadero 60 - it will blow your mind.
We went for our birthdays and were not diappointed

Gran Caribe Playa Caleta: DO NOT STAY HERE
My boyfriend and I stayed here from February 26th-March 4th, 2024. When we first arrived, check in was smoothe and there was a nice worker who took us to our room. Our room was run down. You could not see out of the mirror in the bathroom and not to mention the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor each time it was used. We did not have any hot water at all or water pressure until day 3 of our stay. The mini fridge in our room was rusted but worked well. No smell. Balcony falling apart. Bed [... read more]was comfy.Bottled water was never an issue until the last day when we had a different maid who did not leave us any water. Each day, our maid was phenomenal until the last day (different maid). She left our room very clean and always left us water. The maid on the last day was demanding us to leave our room when we simply asked her for just 5 more minutes because we just woke up. This resort was FULL of Russians. The buffet was the same food every day. Never seen bread until the last day! The people on the resort were bagging up the bread to take to their rooms... Only seen dessert once... Always had ice cream though. There was not enough seating at the buffet. My boyfriend and I often found ourselves needing to stand. Service was terrible. We had to defend for ourselves to get glasses and utensils and water. The waiters did not serve us. Staff were rude until they found out we were Canadian. There was only 7 Canadians there with us our entire stay. They ran out of beer multiple times and even coffee. The liquor mainly consisted of whiskey and rum. Bathrooms ALWAYS had toilet paper. Beach was incredible. Not enough huts though for the amount of people on the resort. Only an hour of entertainment at night. And, the entertainment was the same depending on which day of the week it was. Only seen day activities once by the pool. My boyfriend and I mainly ate at the snack bar by the pool which is only opened at certain times throughout the day. Only had a bun once for my hamburger throughout my entire stay. The food we ate made us sick each time (diarrhea) no matter where it was. No mosquitoes. The swim up bar by the pool was not in use. Small bar at the beach, minimal options. Wifi always worked and was fast.At the beach, catamarans/kayaks were free too use. Paddle boats were 10 dollars to use. Staff at this resort knew English well for the most part. If they did not, they had translate available and in use. Only two restaurants available at this resort and the reservations filled quickly. The cigar bar did NOT sell cigars... barely was ever opened. There is a gym but I did not see anyone using it. To get a taxi was no issue with front desk staff's help. Very expensive now in Cuba I find. Best bet is to take US and Canadian dollars. Pesos are a NO go - worth nothing. The bank is never a good experience! This resort is about a 5 minute drive into downtown-Varadero strip. We unfortunately did not have a good time at all this time. We have agreed to not go back to Cuba until the shortages can somewhat resolve. I have been to Cuba 6 times now and have NEVER seen it like that... People on our resort who had been there 23 times said they'd never be back.. When we got back to Canada, we were super happy to hear English and not Russian... LOL. A worker there told us it was a Russian owned resort? I was so mad to see most Russians vaping when I left mine home due to being illegal? While sleeping one night, there was a RAT or rodent of some sort that had chewed through my bag of sunflower seeds and made a mess everywhere. Our room had a beautiful view of the ocean on the 7th floor and the elevator was always working and fast. Weather was great and the beach was beautiful. The pool was always clean and lots of seating available. Drinks on this resort are very minimal. Never had pinna coladas, etc.. A few cocktails only, if you were lucky that day. Overall, this resort sucks, sorry. I need to spread awareness. DO YOUR RESEARCH. I've learned the hard way.. my fault for choosing low star and not properly researching. Will go back to Cuba for the beach and people in a few year's time. NOT to this resort.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Overall great experience! Great people, beautiful beach and new amenities.
My first time visiting Grand Aston Cayo Paredón and overall I had a great experience.
Yes the food shortages are noticeable but you can tell the staff makes every effort to make the most with what they have.
I decided to upgrade to the Club and was the best choice! My goal was to have a relaxing and peaceful vacation and doing the upgrade allowed me to be in a more secluded section with a beautiful pool facing the ocean!
This also included a private restaurant, bar and lounge area where Carlo[... read more]s and team made every attempt to ensure everyone was taken care off.
The only feedback I would have is for management to really invest into creating more options to allow for better flow in the buffet as I felt bad for the people who couldn't upgrade to the club option and had to wait so long for an omelette or some pasta.
Yes you don't travel to Cuba for the food experience, but you also don't go on vacation to wait for an hour to have breakfast or lunch.
For the A la carte restaurants I would recommend management invests in some training to enhance the taste of the dishes. I would rather have less options to pick from but ensure it tastes the best than have a chicken parmigiana that is not exactly a chicken parmigiana. Considering how much effort the staff puts into their work I just feel like there could be more done from the top management to make things easier for everyone.
The evening entertainment had some great shows, would have preferred if the location where most of the shows were held wasn't setup on beach sand and that it offered more seating as some nights people had to stand in order to watch.
I would definitely return just for the overall experience!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Do Not Book This!
When I tell you that we had hot dogs and rice for 50% of our meals, I am not kidding. There was no real buffet ever. I know to drop by standards when it comes to Cuba as I've been there many times and I'm not spoiled by any means, but I've never experienced anything like this. Breakfast there was no meats, no eggs, no fruits. Only some tomatoes, cucumbers, slices of cheese, and cereal with no milk, and you could order a thin pancake if you wanted. At the snack bar there were only 3 options every[... read more] day: cheese sandwich, tuna sandwich, or hot dog sandwich. Most of the time they didn't have bread either, so they'd just give you a plate of cheese. Lunch would be at the beach hut, and it would always be grilled chicken (which wasn't awful but under seasoned) and lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes on the side. They served that with everything, but with nothing on it. No vinegar, oil, salt, pepper, etc. so it tasted like grass and it's a shame because I love vegetables. We found ourselves unscrewing the shakers and putting salt and pepper on everything. There is also only one a la carte restaurant, not 6 as advertised!!! It is only Cuban which is more rice... and two nights were "italian". And every dinner was a soup, and chicken or pork with rice on the side. Every, single, day. It was only one day where a "Miguel from Customer Service" had arrived and there seemed to be more interesting food options like fish and employees with actual work ethic. I definitely know from experience not to expect too much, but this was worse than being in jail. This is what you get when you mark Dining as your top preferences on trip central? Unbelievable. We spoke to others that visited Cayo Santa Maria afterwards while waiting to board our flight home, and they had an amazing experience compared to us at different resorts. They had burgers, pasta buffets, japanese-style a la cartes, etc.
What was also very odd was that there was not more than 12 guests at the hotel, and I am not exaggerating. It felt weird walking around and not seeing a guest for long periods of time. Even at the nightly entertainment lobby, there were never more than 10 guests there and so they performed in the lobby instead of the actual theatre. I'm not sure why an agent wouldn't inform us that the hotel seems to be "sold out" for months and yet no one is staying there.
We tipped everyone well with every single interaction but none of the staff seemed happy to be there. I return to Cuba often partially due to the service of the employees and how welcoming and kind they are, but I did not get that vibe here.
Hola Sun rep (Michael I believe?) never came to our resort which was unfortunate since we wanted to do an excursion and neither did a Sunwing rep although they have desks in the lobby. Michael from the bus transfer had mentioned that since we're the only guests here, that a pre-scheduled orientation wasn't set up but that I'd get his contact from the receptionist. This never happened. It's almost as if this resort got left in the wind?
Rooms are decent, although ocean view upgrade is not worth it as you barely see above the tree line. Grounds need upkeeping.
Beach is phenomenal and like out of a postcard. Blue waters and white sand. There is only one main pool area and it is extremely run down. They were touching up some tiling and paint while we were there.
I suggest Cayo Santa Maria but not this resort. We are extremely disappointed and will be filing a complaint. It was not cheap for Cuba either and I cannot believe this can pass as a 5 star resort.

Los Delfines: Excellent location. Superb Staff
This was my third trip to Cuba and my first all inclusive resort (usually do Casa Particulars). The reviews had me a little concerned but then I remembered that folks like to complain.
I had a great experience. The rooms were clean and well tended to. The staff were super friendly and added to my trip enjoyment. (my only "problem" was the blanket on the bed was the size of a couch blanket. I would have liked a bigger blanket) My room flooded one night during a tropical storm but that [... read more]only added to the tales to tell when I got home.
Overall the food was plentiful and tasty. On days when I wasn't feeling the buffet it was a short walk to several great restaurants where I found tasty breakfasts, and huge lobster tails for less than 20 CDN per meal.
There was lots of entertainment options and the safety of Cuba made exploring a breeze.
I am already planning my next trip and Los Delfines will definately be my resort of choice.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Beautiful hotel
Breakfast was so poor, lunch and dinner was okay, but for five stars could be better. Drinks not much to choose, no salt and pepper on the table, I was eating unsalted food. Waiting always to long for waiters to come ask us for drinks. One young guy at the bar was a nice and really good worker. So, it’s a beautiful place, but needs more improvement.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Very disappointing resort
Beautiful beach and resort itself but so many shortcomings that it was impossible for us to experience a stress free vacation. We managed our expectations but could not have imagined how bad it could be. Had to salvaged our vacation and upgrade to the Club for a lot of money just to get basic necessities. Had a good time meeting new people but it had nothing to do for this pooly managed resort.
Grounds are well kept and staff are great. The food (March 2024) was better than expected despite the shortages that all of the hotels were having. (ie. bread on some days only). Checkin was fast and efficient.
Unlike neighboring hotels there is not a lot of drink service in the lounge area or beach. Not a problem though as there are two bars within 50 meters of the beach.
Downsides. Room: total lack of hot water in the shower (the sink had hot water though). The beds were showing there a[... read more]ge and I did not find them comfortable. They call a king room one with two utility-grade single beds pushed together. The room cleanliness was fine.
The lobby is smaller than in other hotels and does not have a lot of seating for groups or for lounging and having a drink and seating was in good shape.
Beach: Very deep and flat. The sand was not as fine or shell free as other areas. There were also rocky areas at waist level in some spots so water shoes are recommended. The hotel did suffer from the number of worn out and broken loungers. Some altercations with other guests over "parking" or reserving avaialble loungers ensued.
Coffee and drinks were plentiful and bar service was good. There was also a very nice little cigar bar with bar service which I enjoyed.
Overall, recommended.

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Very Dissapointing
- No white wine and only had red wine two days out of seven, I only drink white wine so didn’t drink.
- The food was the worst I have seen at any resort and I have been to a 3 star with better food. The food in the buffet was COLD and breakfast, lunch and dinner consisted of COLD vegetables and stale buns. No eggs, no bacon or sausage not even one day, no potatoes …….so I lived off a stale bun each meal. I could go on and on..also there was a microwave but did not work.
[... read more]
- The pictures you have on you have shown umbrellas around the pool, there is not one around the pool so no shade
- Jazz Bar not open
- Spa was open one day out of seven.
- They replace pieces around the pool but left them sticking up, so a few people caught their foot on them including me, I have attached pictures. I was lucky but someone could have really hurt themselves we had to go tell them to fix them properly.
So overall was not the greatest trip I have been on I paid 3458.00 for two of us plus I also paid for options plus for me to eat a bun 3 times a day. This trip should only have been a 1000 each trip and should only be a 2-3 star hotel at best. I came back upset, and mad that I spent this kind of money on a trip which I did not enjoy. We know that Cuba is having a hard time at the moment, but we also spoke to people who stayed at other resorts and the food was amazing and lots
