Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great resorte

I like the hotel and facility. All dining was great. Being close to mall is advantage. Beach was nice and clean with white sand. Bar was good snd make whatever you want. Love the breakfast varaity of food. People were freindly too.

Occidental Costa Cancun: A wonderful vacation for the whole family

The resort was very clean and the staff very friendly & always ready to help. The small fridge in the room is always full of drinks (beer, pop) & some peanut snacks. The entertainment staff, as a whole, was awesome, especially the daily aerobics/aqua aerobics on the beach, plus the afternoon dance lessons. In the evening, there's also a show with a different theme, every night. The beach is not big, but there's always room for everyone. The food was very delicious & yummy, in all of the restaurants, buffet or a la carte, even the 24 hr snack stop was always filled up with fresh foods. Special mention of Jose Poot, who is a waiter at Claraboya, he really made our breakfast & dinners there more interesting; a very friendly person. And even on the last day, you can still eat & have a drink (or shots of tequila,etc), while waiting to be picked up for the airport. Most important of all, we felt safe all the time, even outside the resort. We went to a market, walked around, and everyone is friendly. Would go back again, no doubt! Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing resort

The hotel was great !!! Customer service was amazing and the people are very kind and nice. My only issue was with agency, there were some bad communication regarding room. The agency didn't communicate the issue with the people in the room so it was an issue the day we came to the resort,but thanks to barcelo resort that manage to help and found a solution.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Beautiful Resort

The resort was stunning! There was so much to and see. The buffets and a la carte restaurants were full of great selections and drinks. The staff are the friendliest people ever, always ready to help you in any need. The resort itself had a lot of activities to do, some inclusive while some were extra but it was all worthwhile. Will definitely be returning here again! Excellent for groups and families. I have no complaints at all. Thanks Barcelo for an amazing vacation!

Just an amazing hotel. I enjoyed the every moment of my stay. Clean hotel, good food, beautiful beach, great pools, fantastic night shows and very good service. I consider it the 5 stars of the 4 stars. You get a lot of bang for your buck

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Worst Service Ever

We have traveled all over the Caribbean over the last 10 years. Unfortunately our experience at Barcelo Maya has been very disappointing. Hotel staff is very unpleasant and extremely unhelpful across the board starting from check-in desk to restaurants and bars. Both of our kids got sick with some kind of stomach bug. Wifi was limited to a certain location at a specific time of day. The water park is an extra cost (which explains why it is deserted). There were sharp objects in the pool and we w [... read more]itnessed two separate incidents of guests getting hurt. There is little shade at the beach and little shelter from the rain at the pools. There was an obvious offensive smell in the Caribe area of the resort for most of the week that we were there. Will never go back.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Relaxing and romantic resort

This resort is being completely renovated and is beautiful The resort is quiet and offers a very relaxing atmosphere Our assigned room was modern in appearance and kept clean. All services were great and the food was excellent. The sandy beach stretches for miles offering a enjoyable walk. Barcelo Maya Caribe: Amazing resort

No complaints. This was an amazing resort. There's so much to do, swimming, in pools or at the beach, working out at the gym, playing basketball, mini putting, bowling, there's clubs for the nightlife, there's a sports bar to watch games, and soooo many drinks. I had a great time. The trip was too short. I look at forward to coming back.

The resort is equipped with high-quality facilities. It got the beach, the sunshine, the pools, the hammocks and everything. The services and the food are great too. I enjoyed my holiday here. Don't want to leave!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Good resort

Food is amazing. Buffet and a la carte are both great. I'll recommend this resort based on food alone. The room could be better though. The ceiling in the bathroom is all patchy. The staff is pretty supportive. The beach is very nice.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great resort, food and most importantly... a good time!!

The Barceló Maya Colonial Beach was by far one of the best resorts I have ever visited. The food was awesome, there was always a large variety of food and freshly squeezed juices at the buffet. The a la cart restaurants exceeded my expectations, the food was so well done and the restaurants themselves were very nicely decorated to suite their theme. I also really liked the Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant called Tokyo, our cook Carlos was great, he put on a good show and served up some delicious food; the deep fried ice cream at this place was to die for. The hotel itself was very well maintained and the staff were friendly. The beach was great, but my one critique would be that they should try and clean up some of the seaweed, this would make the beach perfect. Another part of this resort I loved was the Maya Mall, there was lots to do and their 24/h bar called Strikers was really fun and came in handy when we wanted late night munchies or drinks. All in all, I had a fabulous trip and would definitely recommend to friends and family or even go back myself!!

Occidental Tucancun: Loved it!

- Resort was very clean - Staff were friendly - Beach is amazing - Dinner at a la carte restaurants were delicious - Resort was not overcrowded - Not much walking - Lunch buffet was not my favourite

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great resort!

The resort was very well maintained, good food and pleasant staff. Even though sport club was well equipped, I would like to make a suggestion about the time slots for rental. I think the time should be increased from 1/2 to a full hour. Other than that all was good, and we had no time to be bored :)

The resort was amazing! First of all, it actually looks like the pictures. The beach was beautiful and the pools are very large. The rooms were clean and the staff was helpful. Free wifi would be nice

The resort was really nice; the resort was well maintaineddone and staff were very friendly and always helpful to assist. The food was good too. They had different meals everyday and also an a la carte dinner if you wanted to get away from buffet food every day

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Excellent Resort!

Excellent resort ......if it weren't for the Dolphinarium. Very very sad that such a large resort chain refuses to become a World Class Leader in the tourism industry by not only going to great lengths to protect green sea turtles but also dolphins. Instead of a dolphinarium which continues the degradation in human intelligence in terms of environmentalism and the protection of animal species, why not provide demonstrations/shows teaching the Barcelo patrons about the land and aquatic species in [... read more] its' surrounding areas? The world is starting to take notice and become aware just look at the huge drop in attendance at SeaWorld thanks in part to the movie Blackfish. Its disgusting to see people waiting their turn to swim with a dolphin, the dolphins being forced daily to perform and behave in tremendously small pools. At the end of each day you will find all the dolphins lined up with their noses resting of the pool's edge facing the ocean which is only metres away. So very sad. Upon reading the Barcelo's in room informational booklet the espousing of how they are protecting the environment by only washing the sheets every third day. Really?! Dismantle the futile Dolphinariums, and watch the Barcelo resorts really stand out as World Class Leaders in the travel and tourism industry..... The above makes me so angry but I also very much need to mention about the dive company Dressels that is on site here. My husband and I have been to other Dressels many times before and each time we dove with them they have been wonderful but I have to impress upon you that this Dressels location is THE best one! The entire crew there, everyone from the managers to the equipment guys all are top notch! Our 11 year old son just completed his open water PADI certification there and WOW we/he treated like royalty and we felt like we were a part of a family. Nina was our son's dive instructor. She THE best dive instructor we've ever come across (my husband and I both have our advanced open water and have more than 10 years dive experience at many dive sites including Roatan, Cozumel, Cayman Brac, entire Yucatan peninsula and soon Curacao). Nina was extremely professional and knowledgeable and really related to kids well. We hope to one day be able to dive with her again! This Dressels was absolutely perfect for those wishing to get their open water certification - highly recommend! Even the building itself was very clean, open, huge cleaning tanks, boats very clean, boat crew amazing etc. etc. So the resort itself now. Its massive. There is an enclosed 'mall' to walk through with various touristy shops with a very small casino and a haunted house (?) which was weird. Your all inclusivity doesn't go very far as everything fun is extra $$$. The bowling alley, awesome, costs $15 per game for instance. Want to play pool? Ya that's also $15 per game. Don't even know what the haunted house cost. The only extra thing that we did was the Flowrider which my surfer/snowboarder husband and son wanted to try...and loved. That was $15 for an hour. We did not go on any outside excursions as we had gone before and again, all of these 'tours' are very Disney'esque' and very over-priced. The food everywhere we tried amongst all 3 hotels was amazing. So much food!! Our 4 a la cartes were: Spanish, Japanese, Seafood, Steak house. The only one that was just okay was the Spanish one but ALL were excellent!! Our favourite was the Japanese with the Tepanaki show. The rooms were okay, nothing fancy but clean and adequate (room fridge always fully stocked). We stayed in the Sahil section of the Caribe hotel. This was a perfect location because of its central location to everything and proximity to the dive shop which was our primary focus on this trip. Have to also mention the service and staff at this resort were all excellent; very friendly and very hard working. Would we go back? No. Never again will we stay at a place with a Dolphinarium which is extremely unfortunate because of how much we loved diving with this Dressels location.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Best resort I have gone to

I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. it has something for all ages. large variety of restaurants, bowling, pool tables, disco, night entertainment, plus the usual, beach, pool, bars, .... I could go on and on. There is so much to do at the resort we felt like we didn't need to go anywhere else. We had went as a family, with a young child (9) and a teen (13) and they had a blast, honestly they have something for all ages.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: 2 star

Food is terrible, chicken never cooked, bacon in the morning is always raw, same thing every day for the buffet. Good beach and location, no I would not stay here again... bad alcohol and no ice blended into piña coladas or margaritas so it's really gross.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Très beau site!

Nous avons séjourné à cet hotel, du 20 au 27 aout. Très bel hotel, très propre, excellent service, belle plage, bonne nourriture, idéal pour les familles, resto Japonais et Italien excellent. Tout est à proximité. Parmi les points à améliorer: le buffet est un peu redondant, surtout au déjeuner et la nourriture pourrait être un peu plus chaude. Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great resort

Resort is very nice and very big. We stayed at the Barcelona Maya Colonial Aug 18-25, 2017. 5 hotels on the property but you would never really know that. Lots of space, big pools, tons of pool and beach chairs. Service was good but check in process was not - waited in line 30 minutes and we weren't the last ones. More staff needed when the buses arrive from airport. Check out was similar. Beach and ocean were rough/waves for 5 out of 7 days. Somewhat windy on beach (never felt too hot). Food wa [... read more]s excellent but only able to eat at 3 restaurants even though we had 5 to choose from (the others were all booked). But buffet was very good. The mall and market on the resort was a great feature. Surfing machine was a blast for the kids ($15 for 1 hour). Kids were happy to do that once. Cenotes across the street (Eden and Azul) were great ($6 per person) and only a 15-20 minute walk. Lots to do at this resort. Overall impressed and would recommend.
